Current 93 and Durtro announces release schedule for 2005/6 Print E-mail
Written by Jonathan Dean
Tuesday, 15 November 2005
In a lengthy update for Durtro.com, David Michael Tibet of Current 93 dispenses quite a bit of information on upcoming plans for the group and for the label, including a very ambitious release schedule and a possible Nurse With Wound concert to happen in the summer of 2006.  More details after the jump.

On the concert front, David Michael takes time to thank all those who made the recent run of San Francisco Current 93 and Friends concerts such a rousing success, including the members of ex-Sleep stoner rock group OM, who opened for Current 93 for the first time.  This is me talking now: anyone who hasn't checked out OM's amazing album Variations On A Theme is really missing out.

A Baby Dee/Simon Finn/John Contreras concert is announced for November 26 in Copenhagen, Denmark.  Word also comes that the three-night Current 93/Baby Dee/Simon Finn/OM/Maja Elliot/Six Organs of Admittance/Pantaleimon/Bonnie "Prince" Billy extravaganza to occur in Venice December 2-4 is now completely SOLD OUT.

David Michael hints at some upcoming Current 93 shows in London in March/April of 2006, showcasing new material, as well as shows in several other cities around the world.  He had hoped to announce an unprecedented Nurse With Wound concert to be held in San Francisco's Great American Music Hall for February 2006, but Steven Stapleton's plans for the show have necessitated a postponement to next summer.  Don't hold your breath on that one, folks.

Also announced is the imminent availability of the Current 93 back catalogue on the iTunes store, but it remains to be seen when and if this will actually happen.

Finally, here is a summary of the Current 93/Durtro release schedule:

December 2005: Reissue of Pantaleimon's Trees Hold Time
Dec 2005/Jan 2006: 2CD Digipack edition of How He Loved the Moon (Moonsongs for Jhonn Balance) on Beta-Lactam Ring
January 2006: Songs From the Coalmine Canary, a brand new album by Little Annie Anxiety Bandez, produced by Antony and Joe Budenholzer
January 2006: Whilst the Night Rejoices Profound and Still, a re-recording of Soft Black Stars with new arrangements by Richard Moult
March/April 2006: Black Ships Ate the Sky, the long-delayed new Current 93 studio album, 20 tracks, 80 minutes long
April/May 2006: Split 10" with OM
May/June 2006: CD version of Current 93/OM split
Summer 2006: Another new Current 93 album, for which recording has already commenced
Throughout 2006: Reissues of classic, hard-to-find Current 93 catalogue items such as Dawn, Live at Bar Maldorer, Nature Unveiled, The Inmost Light Trilogy and Of Ruine or Some Blazing Starre

Hey, if even half of this stuff actually ends up getting released, 2006 should be a great year for Current 93 fans!
