DEAD C, THE Trouble 2LP
Double LP version. Gatefold sleeve. "'Every time I hear their recordings, I'm reminded that they are one of the greatest rock bands to ever pick up a guitar and attempt to play it wrong. Listening to The Dead C causes me to think differently. It brings up emotions with which I'm otherwise unfamiliar. It strikes to the essence of my being and reveals what otherwise remains hidden. I take solace in knowing that one out of every thirty of you reading this know exactly what I'm talking about. On the spectrum of The Dead C's sound output, Trouble could very well be seen as springing from the same realm as the massive 'Driver UFO,' one of the band's greatest tracks ever, off Harsh 70s Reality. There's a youthful aggression here, a churning anger, deadened by pounding drone. Much like H70s, this record serves as a gateway drug -- if you were ever looking for an album to play to a newbie curious about experimental rock, this would be it. The visceral strength of their performance trembles out of the speakers. The magnificence of their stamina survives each album side.' -- Ben Goldberg, Ba Da Bing"

DYLAN, BOB Legendary Broadcasts 1969-1984 CD
"While Bob Dylan has, in later years certainly, been accused of reclusive behavior when it comes to TV and radio interviews, he has never been one to avoid coming forward to play his music live for television audiences. Indeed many of his studio albums since 1969's Nashville Skyline have encouraged some form of promotional appearance on 'the box'. This album captures many of these broadcasts for the first time on CD, starting in 1969 with Bob's duet on the Johnny Cash show, and taking the trail through the 1970s, which includes live versions of cuts from albums such as Blood on the Tracks and Slow Train Coming, and into the early 1980s with numbers from Infidels. Including 13 broadcast recordings in all and with a generous playing time of 65 minutes, this CD will prove a true delight for all Dylan fans as it presents a rare collection of alternative versions of much loved Bob Dylan compositions."

AHBEZ, EDEN Wild Boy: The Lost Songs Of Eden Ahbez LP
Gatefold sleeve. "14 rare/unreleased recordings. Guest appearances by Paul Horn, Eartha Kitt, and more. 180 gram vinyl. Fully annotated, with never before seen pictures. By now psychedelic music is a mainstay of popular taste. But questions of its origins still linger. As such, Bear Family Records now submits Wild Boy: The Lost Songs Of Eden Ahbez as fresh evidence in the quest for answers. Over the past twenty years Ahbez has gone from cult figure to harbinger of the sixties flower-power movement. This notion is born out largely by his 1948 anthem of universal love, 'Nature Boy', and his rare solo album from 1960, titled Eden's Island -- one of popular music's earliest concept albums. Wild Boy: The Lost Songs Of Eden Ahbez both expands the Ahbez catalog and deepens the notion of a psychedelic movement having roots in the 1950s. Side one acts as a compilation of music that Ahbez wrote in the aftermath of 'Nature Boy'. Inclusion of songs like 'Palm Springs' by the Ray Anthony Orchestra and 'Hey Jacque' by Eartha Kitt give listeners the chance to hear obscure cuts by big-name artists in the context of Ahbez for the first time. Side two shows the songwriter inching closer to Eden's Island and the actual hippie movement, with absurdist rock/exotica tracks like 'Wild Boy' and 'Surfer John', as well as sweet psych-pop like the unreleased Monterey (featuring Paul Horn on the flute). The album ends with an unreleased cut, titled 'The Clam Man', which Ahbez recorded as an ode to a fellow bearded hermit down in Baja, CA. In total, Wild Boy: The Lost Songs Of Eden Ahbez offers seven unreleased cuts and as many rare singles to produce an overview of the songwriter's lost work from 1949-71. What Ahbez misses in hallucinogenic content, he more than makes up for with his primitive chord structures, expansive arrangements, and lyrics about travel, leisure, free-love, and spirituality. As such, the canon of psychedelic music and that of Hippie #1 just got bigger."

Including the first solo recordings of Carl & Carol Jacobs. 'I Wanna Give You Everything' is a cult anthem on the northern soul scene. At the beginning of the 1970s young musicians from the Carribbean Trinidad and Tobago began questioning the basic musical order. Calypso music, well-tried and getting a bit long in the tooth, had started its international triumphal procession during the 1950s. It was soon to be enhanced by American soul, funk, rock, and psychedelia laying the foundation for a new musical direction called, Soca, the Soul of Calypso."

The Maghreban is back with the 12" Lose It. The venerable yet elusive London electronic producer has a diverse background working under various aliases and guises in drum & bass, hip-hop, jungle and old pirate radio hardcore, The Maghreban brings a bit of everything to the table on the new 12". "Lose It" is introduced by stark claps and disorienting genie noises on a front to back beat, before evolving into a sly six-minute house mongrel. "Wrong Move" puts together elements of break beat, dub and mutant bass to lure the listener into a vaporous electronic dystopia.

MODESTE Absurd Memories 2x12"
Modeste, aka Agnès, presents Absurd Memories, the inaugural release for Cannataci Records. Cannataci Records - a new record label run by Ripperton and Agnès - is aimed at releasing rather unclassified music, pieces they or their friends compose. The aim is at releasing music that make things go beyond the usual paths. The label name is a reference to their hopes in the newly appointed UN special rapporteur on privacy, namely; Joseph Cannataci. They do not want to taint their music with politics, they are simply firm endorsers of privacy. Modeste on the records: "Absurdity, none decisions, finding yourself begging for your brain to get formatted thus losing it all, the good and the bad, simply for once get rid of that load. Machine-wise it's possible, biologically speaking it isn't yet. Absurd Memories is an exorcism at one of the saddest period of my life. Sorrows and sleepless nights made me craft this. I nailed it with all my strength as if by doing it with all my hearth, my sadness storms would vanish. It turned out to be an unfair combat. Two years later this has now its place in the past for which time, as a cure, was my only help at looking at things with a different gyroscope. This album is now your present and somehow so dead for me. Absurd Memories... To be sorted in your bass-bient bin."

"Another breezy old melody returns to the dancehalls in fine fashion with 'Roots Man Skanking'. The Roots Radics revel in the possibilities, with the keyboards carrying the delicate melody in effervescent style, the guitar riffs are sharp but cheery, while the thumping bass and slamming drums powering the arrangement into the modern age. Producer Linval Thompson and mixer Scientist keep the accompaniment stark, but dubby in atmosphere, sending the drum beats booming like mortar fire. It's an enticing sound, that is as iridescent as it is militant. It's also the perfect backing for Freddie McGregor's ode to the dancehalls and the rhythms that drive them. 'Skanking' is a glorious number, and indeed in 1982 'everyone rocked to the rhythm,' just as the singer claimed" --Jo-Ann Greene, AllMusic. Tracks: "Sugar Baby," "Roots Man Skanking," "Big Ship Sailing," "Works of Jah," "Holy Mount Zion," "Faithful Love," "No More War in the Ghetto's," "Give me your Love," "Serious Times."

ZOMBY Where Were U In 92? LP
2016 repress on black vinyl. Previously released on yellow vinyl for RSD 2012. When first released as a CD on Actress's Werk Discs imprint in 2008, Where Were U In 92? was instantly hailed as the rave album that was never made in the early '90s, a tumbling anthemic barrage of lost mixtape masterpieces from an artist who was starting to take the electronic dance scene by storm. However, Where Were U In 92? is not just some facsimile-style homage to the past; it takes a firm grip of the energy and sheer rushing dynamics of early hardcore breakbeat, and places those sounds and styles smack in the center of right now.

Arpe Eolie is the first ever vinyl release of the works by Italian maestro Mario Bertoncini, relentless experimental composer, philosopher, artist and builder of sounds. The LP presents a selection of his compositions for Aeolian constructions: in the early '70s he started to produce sound aggregates, true "sound sculptures" based on the Aeolian sound principle. Amongst his more spectacular installations were "Vele", a massive Aeolian harp (more than seven meters high); "Venti" (winds), for 20 Aeolian sound generators and 40 performers; and "Chanson Pour Instrument À Vent", an assemblage for Aeolian harps, Aeolian gongs, and one performer. By their very nature these sound objects ("sound sculptures" that liberate the concept of sound form from time development) convey a sense of natural sounds beyond the grasp of composition and musician. Bertoncini's self-built harps and gongs are excited by blows of compressed air, or by the composer's own breath, resulting in a musical blueprint that takes minimalist drone to a massive scale: the music unleashes itself. There's no sense of a composer's hand present. If at superficial levels they may sound like electronic music (long drones and swooshes of otherworldly sounds), at a close listening they reveal the intensity of a pure sound of air, far removed from both any artificial or measurable principle as well as from any casual or chance method of composition. Deluxe silver cover with silver foil design. Custom inner sleeve and four-page booklet in English and Italian. Edition of 400.

Studio and live recordings, May/June 1973. Arke Sinth documents the brief and intense life of a group formed at the beginning of the 1970s within the fertile and stimulating cultural environment of the town of Padua (Italy), where electroacoustic and computer music pioneer Teresa Rampazzi had started, a few years earlier, the Nuove Proposte Sonore (New Sound Proposals) Group. Arke Sinth was a group of four young musicians and artists, who decided to perform their own music, an experimental venture into collective composition and unusual timbre associations, with possibly no references whatsoever to previously existing music genres. The rigorous music of Arke Sinth gave a sonic body to meticulously planned graphic scores and at times was associated with visuals created by one of the members of the group, Michele Sambin (one of the first Italian experimental video-artists). Arke Sinth also tried to closely link collective composition and performance, making also use of improvisational elements but refusing the premises of the American live electronics experiences, for which composition was simply the "trigger" of an almost immutably informal and/or automatic process (David Tudor, David Behrman, Alvin Lucier), or alternatively it was "dissolved" into free improvisation (MEV). Together with Michele Sambin on cello and saxophones, were his brother Marco, an accomplished saxophone player, Giovanni De Poli on EMS Synthi A and Alvise Vidolin on electronic organ and mixing. De Poli and Vidolin at that time were both pupils of Teresa Rampazzi, and shortly after the experience of Arke Sinth were involved in the foundation of the Computer Music Center of the University of Padua. Deluxe silver cover with silver foil design. Custom inner sleeve and four-page booklet in English and Italian. Edition of 400.

SHREEVE, SIMON Lust Product EP 12"
Simon Shreeve, the gifted producer behind Mønic and Kryptic Minds, offers four tracks of stare-down half-step techno with Lust Product EP. The rugged manifest in the cement mixer churn and deathly groan of "System Living" leads to the Fishermen-esque, slow techno-meets D&B-on-33 grind in "Silver Sun". But when he steps aside from the 'floor into more esoteric headspaces and themes, he really proves himself a master of cinematic tension, recalling the most funereal rituals of Cut Hands in "Lust Product" and the sweeping low register string arrangement , quasi-speed doom dub zones of Raime in "External Laws".

VA Midnite Spares LP
The Efficient Space label follows its acclaimed 2016 Sky Girl compilation (EFFICIENT 002CD/LP) with Midnite Spares. Here, Australian music devotees András Fox and Instant Peterson hold a candle to overlooked avant-pop and electronic works by antipodean artists and outsiders working through the '80s and '90s. Through co-presenting their weekly radio show "Strange Holiday", the duo slowly upturned their locale for inspiration - archives, country bookstores, private collections and convenience stores - searching for a place to anchor their own identities in the oceans of the island continent. The ten tracks here acknowledge a minor history, passed on via a network of friends, friends of friends, the libraries of radio station 3RRR and more often than not, the artists themselves. Renowned mixed media artist Maria Kozic enters with the mysterious downbeat of "Trust Me", her partner Philip Brophy responsible for digital and analog sonic construction (as the MK Sound). A recurring character in András and Instant Peterson's investigations, Brophy reappears with a score piece from his divisive feature film Salt, Saliva, Sperm and Sweat (1988), recorded as ? ? ? (pronounced "Tch Tch Tch"). Other links are thread under the surface. Melbourne inner north experimentalist David Chesworth explores his Australiana song-craft leading Whadya Want? on "Open Spaces". The short lived project also featured Philip Jackson, whose duo The Couch is restored from Fast Forward's dance issue - a pioneering cassette fanzine published by early-80s 3RRR personality Bruce Milne. The collection binds a certain musicianship that's indifferent to fame or chart success, although some artists unwittingly experienced this before and after. Poets Of The Machine's Grace Jones techno-wave was a modest moment for Coral Island and Red Stripe, an English migrant who once celebrated a #1 UK Christmas single with an acapella cover of "Yazoo", while the morbid coming of age electronics of Foot And Mouth is a lesser known prologue to Sean Greenway and Matty Whittle's rise as legendary teen punks heroes God. Quickly becoming a modern dancefloor hit, Mumbo Jumbo's sole release "Wind It Up" is only now basking in its brilliance. The remaining figures shape the diversity further. There's Sydney dub addicts The Igniters, Mix's groovy synth song about masturbation and the Cameron Allen and Graham Bidstrup soundtrack for petrol headed "ozploitation" film, Midnite Spares (1983) -- the compilation's namesake.

EMIKA Forever Never 12"
"Forever" is the sound of Emika boiled down to her steely essence. Gated vocal snippets and haunting synth arpeggios give a nod to early-'90s proto-trance, the arps filtering in-and-out of focus in tense fashion before unfolding into a dreamy melodic progression. "Never" treads similar ground but takes a more direct approach, the tension building consistently in layers as more arpeggiated synths gently modulate in hypnotic fashion. Shimmering, icy sounds create a haunting, slow-burning atmosphere before the rhythm switches up for the latter half of the track, layers of gated white noise further punctuating the groove.

EDDIE C On The Shore (Limited Edition) 2LP +7"
Double LP version. Includes limited 7". "Hopefully they do not fit into too many sub-genre categories," says Canadian producer and DJ Edward Currelly, aka Eddie C about On The Shore. On The Shore is a compelling musical trip of drifting repetition in rhythm and melody. Recorded entirely in his studio on the shore of the Panke River, Eddie confesses: "Berlin has been so crazy... I have mixed feelings sometimes. The emotions I've had here are like none I've ever had to deal with before. I've had many sleepless nights. I suppose the music is a mix of feelings and inspiration from life here." The story arc of his sample-laden album oscillates between sweet sadness and warming blissfulness. There are strings that can evoke tears, synth lines that may generate dreams and guitars that are able to introduce levitation. But C's life as a traveling DJ has also had a great effect on his art. "I've always written music and always been DJ'ing. They both came around the same time when I was very young. But I've never quite connected the two. I've always thought that they were very different avenues of expression. All the travelling in the last while has been a beautiful experience and so very inspiring and exhausting. One thing I really wish I had more of is routine. Something that many people wish to escape." For a listener it makes no difference where the emotional subtext is originated. Eddie did not dismiss what he has always enjoyed: arranging a mix of instruments, synths, samples and drum machines, that cuts deep into your soul. Each track is an intimate meditation. Sometimes it grooves in the down-tempo fields, sometimes cosmic disco calls the tune and house is around too, but all is propelled by pulsing keys, pitch bends and crashing drum loops. The routine Eddie talks about must be somewhat a part of his life as his usage of samples, his rhythmical accuracy and his sense for small but extra touching melody particles are not just coming from one spontaneous surge of emotion. He also enjoyed the company of his Norwegian buddy Rune Lindbaek on "Auf Der Ufer" - a sublime synth-laden spacey tune. On The Shore is a playful album full of contrasting, deeply atmospheric stages, that range from swinging and propulsive to blissed-out and bittersweet sensibilities.

LP version. 180 gram. Includes download code and poster. The third time is the charm...that's right. Thus, the joy about the third album by Marek Hemmann, Moments, is huge. Likewise, the third album is perceived as an important brand which ought to show the actual extent of a musician's potential. Either hold one's ground or dare something new? Marek Hemmann is not deterred by such expectations. He was merely in the mood for new tracks. The eight newcomers on Moments sound accordingly - easygoing, detached and characterized by the same profoundly and harmonically balanced musicality for which Marek Hemmann is world-renowned. However, a "just continue as before" mentality is not an option for the Berliner by choice. From the beginning, his music effortlessly blurred the established genre lines. In this vein, his new work is influenced by a great candor. As already accomplished with his highly esteemed albums In Between (FREUDE 004CD/LP) and Bittersweet (FREUDE 009CD/LP), in Moments Hemmann takes the listeners - and certainly the dancers - on a journey through different spheres of contemporary electronic music. The album, nestled between "Helio" and "Bob", branches to significantly different moods, from silent pauses to weightlessly lifting off to dancing around dreamily. Yet, within the many interwoven details, a noticeable sophistication can be picked out. Even more seamless and subtle, Marek Hemmann manages to unite euphoria and sweet melancholy, playful and sublime sounds, warmly shifting basses and sweeping synth-melodies. Moments provides moments of life and moments on the dancefloor with this fitting soundtrack.

MOSES, LEE Time And Place CD
"Lee Moses was a huge talent and if he'd had the big hit album he richly deserved, Time And Place would've been it. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist, Moses cut his teeth in the clubs of Atlanta, the 'Motown of the South', where he frequently performed alongside his contemporary Gladys Knight (who reportedly wanted him for the Pips, but couldn't pin him down). It was, however, in New York in the '60s that Moses made his greatest bid to find the solo fame he desired. Moses began working there as a session player, even playing frequently with a pre-fame Jimi Hendrix, but his close relationship with producer and Atlanta native Johnny Brantley eventually saw him getting his own break via a series of 45s in 1967 - most notably with covers of Joe Simon's 'My Adorable One', The Four Tops' 'Reach Out, I'll Be There' and The Beatles' 'Day Tripper'. It was 1971 before Moses' dream of being at stage front was realized, when he released his Brantley-produced LP Time And Place for Maple Records. Recorded with a band including members of The Ohio Players and Moses' own backing group The Deciples, it was, nonetheless, Moses himself whose star quality shone through, via his scratchy guitar riffs, his throat-ripping vocals and the stirring mood that permeates the LP's heady mix of funk, soul and R&B. The LP did no business, and Moses' dream quickly crumbled. Though details on his life are scarce, it's believed he fled New York disenchanted with the music industry, feeling he'd been double-crossed by Brantley both in credit and remuneration for the countless records he'd played on. Back in Atlanta, Moses returned to playing the clubs, married twice, and fell into depression and drug dependency. He died in 1997 at the age of 56. Time And Place soon became a much-sought-after item for collectors, and its cult has continued to grow over the years. Here, we re-present it on deluxe vinyl, with brand new liner notes from Sarah Sweeney including interviews with Moses' sister and his closest collaborator, the singer and guitarist Hermon Hitson. Through them, Moses becomes a little -- but just a little -- less of an enigma."

"Maceo Parker was one of the most revered and loved members of James Brown's famed J.B.'s band from the late '60s to the mid-1970s. Alongside his instantly recognizable alto saxophone solos, he occasionally performed as comedian before James Brown shows, in addition to playing MC. He was a true renaissance man. And while other members of The Godfather of Soul's inner circle -- most notably trombonist Fred Wesley -- had solo albums at the advent of Brown's People Records, Maceo had to wait his turn for a couple years. By the time 1974 rolled around, this talented musician and personality could not be denied, and he burst onto the scene as a group leader with one of the most impressive albums in the People catalog: the simply titled, but deeply felt, Us. Maceo's group (occasionally called The Macks) and Fred Wesley's J.B.'s were essentially the same unit ? including guitarists Jimmy Nolen and Hearlon 'Cheese' Martin, drummer John 'Jabo' Starks, saxophonist St. Clair Pinckney and of course Fred Wesley on trombone. Unsurprisingly, the material here is never-endingly funky. But as shown in the song selection (presumably by Parker, with heavy-handy assistance from the Godfather himself), there are as many ballads and soul groovers as there are straight-up funk workouts. Cases in point include the mellow, Gamble & Huff-penned 'Drowning In The Sea Of Love' (with organ, most likely played by James Brown, slithering in the background) and the syrupy 'Show and Tell'. The album's closer is also on the slower side, going very deep and striking a chord, as Maceo and Brown talk about conditions in the Black American landscape of the day over the course of 10-plus minutes. And there is, of course, plenty of diesel funk here as well: singles like 'Soul Power 74' and 'Parrty' are downright nasty grooves, known well by James Brown fans old and new. 'Soul Power 74' additionally features very early proto-sampling, with a baby's cry as well as Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous 'I Have Been To The Mountain Top' speech. And Maceo's take on the J.B.'s classic 'Doing It To Death' is a unique version, more muted and of course featuring Maceo's gorgeous horn front and center. Appearing at the apex of both James Brown's and People Records' power, Us is a treasured jewel in the J.B. catalog, and rightfully so. This 150 gram vinyl LP comes in a Stoughton jacket and includes 22" x 22" poster."

MURRELL PRESENTS, HADLEY Divas Without Diamonds: The Best Female Singers You've Never Heard CD
"'Throughout my long career as a record producer, I sought to unravel what I call the Mojo Mystery. The solution has evaded me. From time to time, I've heard a voice come from a female singer that so thrilled me, every other sound in the room faded away. I could hear nothing else but that voice. My spine tingled from top to bottom. Time stood still in that moment and I was unable to move. That is the sound of a talent so profound that you know this person will become a superstar. I would become obsessed with the idea of producing that vocalist and would set about doing so. The music business is unpredictable. Even when everything is done right, things go wrong, and that amazing potential superstar talent never gets heard or never gets the attention and glory it deserves. You have the right talent, the right songs, the right musicians; but a record deal never gets made. Or you have all of these elements plus the right deal. The record is released and nothing happens. Everyone blames everyone else for why the project failed. But at the end of the day, it just didn't happen. No one really knows why. I always say, the project just didn't have the right mojo. I recently decided that I will not let these talented women with such magnificent voices and styles pass into obscurity without ever being heard. You, my fans, deserve to hear the talent I was so fortunate to discover but was unable to bring to you before now. Get ready to be swept away as you fall in love with each and every one of them -- the Divas Without Diamonds. We're giving them their diamonds now.' --Hadley Murrell"

DENIM DELINQUENT Denim Delinquent: Complete Collection Book
"First-ever official Denim Delinquent fanzine compendium, the legendary monolithic bastion of proto-punk journalism. Quite possibly the equivalent of the 'Dead Sea Scrolls' of modern punk fanaticism, and one of the rarest self-produced publications to emerge from the pre-DIY years of the early 1970s. It's such a shame how few sets of eyes have seen these primitive pieces in real life, and that's why it was nothing short of prerequisite to forge this book into reality, which will undoubtedly set the clock back a few years on the standard 'punk' timeline. We couldn't be happier to see the free-form intertwining of heavy rock, proto-punk, and primitive power pop represented with such unbridled enthusiasm, in a time before it was compartmentalized, commodified, and repackaged for the suburban teen market. Denim Delinquent is a true gem of unadulterated punk amateurism, condensed into an incredibly hard-edged slice of the early '70s you can immerse yourself in without pretense or punditry, a true pioneer of the underground press culture right at time in rock history where anything was possible, and the open-ended creativity ran wild. As they say, some of the most far ahead-of-its time music came from this early-mid '70s era, and as the rest of the music world sat idly by and waited to be spoon-fed their mellow mediocrity, some real adventurous wild rockers were right there lapping it up as it was happening in real-time, and the founder/editor/publisher Jim Parrett just so happened to fit this profile. Scientists and physicists can keep toiling away at trying to build time machines, but for us, there's no better vehicle for slipping into another time and place than when you are flipping through the pages of underground magazines like Denim Delinquent. The band illustrations are miniature masterpieces, and the writing is highly infectious, as any good fanzine should be- 100% driven by genuine excitement and a bleeding desire to spread the word. Happening across original copies of the magazine would be instant recognition of museum pieces, so we're proud to present this North American cultural artifact complete with all of the rough edges intact, and with that irresistible and unmistakable excitement literally bleeding off the edges of each page. 200+ pages. 2nd printing of 300."

SUPER SUPER BLUES BAND, THE Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, & Bo Diddley LP
Limited-edition colored vinyl. "Super Super Blues Band started out merely as Super Blues, a conglomerate of blues pillars Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters and Little Walter. When Little Walter bowed out and was replaced by Howlin' Wolf, they rightfully threw another Super on the name, and went on to release this burning, irreverent and even sometimes hilarious set of drunken, wild-eyed electric blues. Long form jams roll on in a trance as the trio of blues legends flex egos, talking shit to each other, trading off leads and ducking blasts of unexpected wah-wah guitar lines. Songs are peppered with an incredible level of banter between the trio of bandleaders that predicts the call and response sing-talking of early hip hop, laced with random screams in the background that teeter between celebration and danger. That these three ever got into the same room together is a miracle, and that they produced something so intense, energetic and weird is another almost unbelievable feat. The record is special enough as a stand-alone document of this meeting/melting of the minds before you find out the backing band consists of Hubert Sumlin, Otis Spann and freaking Buddy Guy. Lordy. Might have needed one more 'super' in there."

Is now the time? Spirit In The Dark has the answer. Take three of the hottest players on the scene, let them spin like a Leslie speaker, then chill or groove or get your gospel glad-rags on, because Now Is The Time is the answer. Featuring the combined talents of keyboardist David Wallumrød (Torun Eriksen, Beady Belle, Serena Maneesh, Jan Eggum, Jarle Bernhoft), bassist Audun Erlien (Knut Reiersrud, Nils Petter Molvær, Eivind Aarset, Bendik Hofseth) and drummer Anders Engen (Bugge Wesseltoft, Morten Harket, Eivind Aarset, Laurent Garnier), this is an all-killer-no-filler improvisational, musical conversational, and utterly sensational excursion through pure joy, whether on original compositions or carefully chosen classics. As regular participants in Cosmopolite Scene's Organ Club, the group has evolved, with a stylistically diverse but utterly consistent repertoire and spirit. Their sound is led by Wallumrød's keyboards, particularly the Hammond organ, but this doesn't mean that Erlien and Engen have their stars obscured - quite the contrary in fact: there are those locked-in grooves of drum'n'bass splendor underpinning some of the groovier tracks on the album, and there are enough improvisational flourishes and solo passages to keep even the hungriest fan of the rhythm section satisfied. Whether on an up-tempo groove, rocking out, shuffling, swinging, or floating through soulful atmospherics, the group remain on-point, neither missing nor wasting the opportunities presented by their jams. If there is any irony here, it's the fact that a group named Spirit In The Dark can make music that is so luminescent. So, to go back to that question: Is now the time? Absolutely! Personnel: David Wallumrød - Hammond organ, Clavinet, Minimoog, Prophet 5, piano, hand claps; Audun Erlien - bass, hand claps; Anders Engen - drums, percussion, hand claps.

Akhenaten (2009) was the first album Nat Birchall released via the then brand-new Gondwana Records label in Manchester. Originally released only on CD, this is the first time this classic recording has been made available on vinyl. The album on the whole features a quartet, and is expanded to a quintet on the title track where UK trumpet virtuoso Matthew Halsall joins in with a stunning solo. The album explores deep, hymn-like themes at length, finding much to say on the relatively simple melodies and arrangements. Nat and his fellow band members play here with the selfless motivation and focus that's required to allow them to tap deep into the human psyche, producing music that is soulful and stately. Very different from most modern jazz styles played nowadays, the music has a timeless beauty that will stand the test of time. The album was enthusiastically received by music fans and critics alike, being unanimously hailed as a modern classic. Now is the time to hear this magnificent work, utilizing the unique atmospherics and sonic presence that only vinyl can provide. Only 600 copies pressed.

BIRCHALL, NAT Guiding Spirit LP
Guiding Spirit (2010) was the second album by Nat Birchall for the fledgling Manchester label Gondwana Records. The follow-up to the remarkable debut of Akhenaten found him exploring different textures using percussion and instruments like the kora and the harp. It was also the first time Nat had recorded on the soprano saxophone, featured here on the songs "Keep the Light Shining" and "Higher Regions". Nat reveals a concept on the instrument quite unlike most other contemporary players of the higher-pitched horn, his sound more akin to the keening tone of the Indian shenai master, Bismillah Khan, perfectly in keeping with the music's more Eastern sounding leanings. The music here is firmly rooted in the modal jazz world of Pharoah Sanders, Alice Coltrane and others who sought to expand upon the avenues of expression originally forged by John Coltrane in the heady days of the early 1960s. As has often been pointed out by commentators however, this is no pastiche or remake. This is the real thing, played absolutely in the now, but played from and in the spirit of then. Originally released only in CD format, Jazzman Records are proud to make this music available on vinyl for the first time. Only 600 copies pressed. Features: Matthew Halsall on trumpet and Rachael Gladwin on kora and harp.

IT'S A FINE LINE It's A Fine Line 2LP
Double LP version. Gatefold sleeve. It's A Fine Line (Ivan Smagghe and Tim Paris) present their debut album. Two Parisians, Ivan Smagghe and Tim Paris, exiled in London for the better part of the last ten years set out to redefine space. It's A Fine Line was born from non-restraint, cultivating its own vision of house music and disco, a paradoxical one, a non-functional one. Their first LP reveals itself as a collection of tests, of explorations in the shadows and corners of club culture. These are murky roads where counterfeit goes for gold standard, perfect territory to lose oneself in order to find ones way. Leaving behind the smooth highways of club music, they ride more chaotic trails, with dubious reputation or names: white funk, trance groove, electronic psychedelia, greasy, rock'n'roll - A risky path, ambivalent, proud of accidents, crashes and bad taste, but the only real way to discover virgin grounds on well-trodden terrain. They are writing their own (hi)story. For this album, Tim and Ivan recruited three double agents, the flame of Alex Kapranos, singer of Franz Ferdinand, the mysterious voice of Olivia de Lanzac from cult band Quad Throw Salchow and the pitched down, spectrum of label companion C.A.R. Three tweaked but prominent voices, joining in on an album that confounds through the coherence of its eclecticism and the rigorous mirage of its style. Renowned artist Gareth McConnell adds his indispensable touch to the artwork and video, encompassing the exact image of this record: hypnotic and kaleidoscopic, a celestial trip recorded on a used VHS tape. "it's a fine line between reference and cliche / it's a fine line between moody and dark / it's a fine line between obscure and abstruse / it's a fine line between passion and obsession / it's a fine line between ambiguity and confusion / it's a fine line between principles and rules / it's a fine line between simple and easy / it's a fine line between Tim Paris and Ivan Smagghe, and that's why they're walking it." -- Kill The DJ.

RAPOON Waiting By The River CD
"Klanggalerie are very happy to announce a new collaboration with Rapoon after a far too long 12 year break. Waiting By The River is the all-new album by Robin Storey that takes the project into previously uncharted territory. Founded in 1992 after Storey left Zoviet France, Rapoon soon became an outstanding ethno-dark ambient project that has gained a cult following all over the world. More than 50 albums have been released over those 25 years, some more beat driven, others more playful and with ambient sounds and ethnic influences. Rapoon has never stopped evolving - think of Cultural Forgeries, an album full of unplugged acoustic music. Or Downgliding, full of compositions on the piano. In 2016, Rapoon presents an album full of songs. You will hear guitars, vocals, stories are being told. A very different approach to Rapoon and one you've never heard before. Needless to say, the trademark Rapoon sound is still there. But this time you get a little extra. Another milestone in the band's discography."

The first section, tracks 1 to 5, gathers up the extra songs from Struve & Sneff and gives them their own space. After an interlude (a new instrumental), the second section is mainly unreleased music. Only 'Gone To Gondwana' has been released before as this version on 'Olleh Olleh Rotcod'. The track 'Is This Tradition?' is a song Renaldo recorded with a visitor in 1984. After a second interlude (another new instrumental) the third section is the 1984 mixes of Struve & Sneff reconstructed in the original track order. The music has been carefully remastered by the band in 2016. New artwork was provided by Renaldo M."

SCHULZE & PETE NAMLOOK, KLAUS The Dark Side of the Moog Vol. 9-11 5CD BOX
"Complex re-release of the most remarkable and worldwide sought after series The Dark Side Of The Moog by German electronic pioneers Klaus Schulze and Pete Namlook (aka Peter Kuhlmann) in three slip lid boxsets, each with 5 CDs, incl. bonus material and new linernotes. The third box contains Vol. 9 to Vol. 11 and two bonus CDs. The relationship between Klaus and Pete and the exchange of ideas was unorthodox from the beginning of their co-operation, in that they rarely met personally. The most remarkable contacts they had were outside of their studios, for instance their concert of April 1999 at the Jazz Festival in Hamburg, which was released as an edited version on Dark Side Of The Moog, Vol.8 - the interplay and chemistry between them is clearly evident, and it becomes even clearer on the un-edited version of the concert. The influence Namlook had on Klaus's music in the middle of the nineties should not be taken lightly, because although Klaus dearly loved those early-analogue elements from his own music, they had become, to an extent, lost. It was Pete who fortified him to go back to the analogue charm of his early albums and it was Pete who supported him in the modification of his analogue instruments, leading finally to the epoch-making Schulze album from 1996 - Are You Sequenced?. And so a legendary series of recordings was born. Dark Side Of The Moog grew more or less unplanned to a sprawling, stately-sized series of eleven volumes recorded between 1994 and 2008, only ending with the early, tragic death of Pete on November 8th 2012."

SCHULZE, KLAUS Dziekuje Poland Live '83 2CD
"'This collection is an absolute must for the serious collector and a good starting place for the novice - my highest recommendations for this album!' (Synthetic Pleasure/USA, July 1984). Klaus Schulze: 'In 1983 Poland was still behind the iron curtain but to get permission to perform concerts there was quite easy because I was playing instrumental music. Had I written songs with lyrics, they probably wouldn't have let us come into the country. So we accepted the invitation made by the Polish promoter. We never had any problems with guys from national security there, although we may have tempted fate when we played in Gdansk. We performed there in the same venue where Lech Walesa (leader of the opposition union Solidarnosc) had given a speech the day before and Rainer Bloss and I went on stage and made the V for victory sign. This wasn't at all politically motivated, it was meant to be a sign for love & peace. Nevertheless they edited out the photo of us with the 'V' sign in the Polish edition of 'Dziekuje Poland'. Before the concert, Rainer said to me, 'Let me start at the piano alone!' I thought, sure why not? He went on and played the Polish national anthem and the audience went wild!"

"Re-release of the classic Klaus Schulze album Moondawn, original released in 1976. 'The album is a dynamic and sometimes explosive expression of the synthesized sound so recognizable as Klaus Schulze.' ('Trouser Press'/USA, November 1977). Without doubt Moondawn is one of Klaus Schulze's cultic albums. Klaus was working with a 'Big Moog' for the very first time, which results into a special 'fat' sound. On 'Moondawn' Klaus Schulze was accompanied by Harald Grosskopf on drums. Klaus Schulze first attracted attention as a member of the German pioneers of electronic music, Tangerine Dream. Following the release of their debut LP, Electronic Meditation he departed for a solo career. Klaus' recorded work typically features extended pieces sometimes filling an entire album built around computer-generated synthesizers and other specially programmed electronic effects. Klaus Schulze remains a cult figure in the whole world. He is widely considered an avant-garde mainstay as well as a founding father of both the new-age space music and electronica genres."

MF DOOM Operation: Doomsday (Metal Face Cover) 2LP
Metal Face cover edition. "Back again on vinyl where it belongs, MF DOOM's 1999 classic Operation: Doomsday is now presented on a premium-grade split-colored LP, with audio re-mastered from the original Fondle'Em Records release, and a poster of the album cover art! Underneath his mysterious metal mask, MF DOOM hides the cachet underground legends are made of. After KMD (his first group)'s 1994 sophomore album Bl_ck B_st_rds was shelved by Elektra in 1994 and his blood brother Subroc (one half of the sibling rap duo) passed away, surviving frontman Zev Love X mutated into the MC Avenger known as MF DOOM and the Rap world is better for it. This 19-cut deep album is ridiculously dope, in a bizarro Ol' Dirty Bastard kind of way. Doom sounds either high or drunk on most of the tracks, his self-produced beats are gritty, and his rhyme styles are almost indecipherable. On arguably the best track, 'Rhymes Like Dimes', Doom weaves some pointed lyrics through his abstract wordplay, spitting 'only in America could you find a way to earn a healthy buck / And still keep your attitude on self-destruct.' Who You Think I Am? features DOOM's crew M.onster I.sland C.zars, while on '?' he trades hot verses with former Columbia artist Kurious Jorge. Doom's avant-garde ghetto-rhyme philosophies take even more intentionally weird twists on 'Tick, Tick...' where he and guest MC MF Grimm's flows warble over a rhythm track whose tempo speeds up and slows down continually. The comic-book themed skits, will help take you deep into the mind of an MC who is as otherworldly as they come. And in today's bland commercial rap universe, Operation: Doomsday's left-of-center beats and rhymes are the perfect remedy."

Repressed. "Second pressing of vinyl re-issue. First official vinyl re-issue in collaboration with original band members Charles Bullen and Charles Hayward. 24 bit/96 kHz re-master from original analog tapes. Includes booklet with track notes and archival photos. Isn't it so often the case that the most innovative works of art -- the ones that break the ground where others follow -- are the ones that seem to reach only the ears of those who take those ideas and run with them? So it is with This Heat and their eponymous debut album frequently referred to as 'blue and yellow' for its ultra-minimal jacket. Within its 48 minute run time, the seeds of post-punk, avant rock, noise rock and post-rock can be found. Formed in Brixton, a multicultural, and -- at the time -- down-at-heel part of south London, This Heat were born into a music scene in rapid flux, first thanks to the punk explosion and then via new wave and its myriad offshoots into pop, rock and art-rock. But while many sought to apply punk attitude to chart-friendly sounds, This Heat were concocting some of the most experimental ideas ever committed to tape, taking influence from musique concrète, krautrock, the burgeoning industrial scene and even the dub reggae blasting out in their home borough. Their debut album had -- for the time and for the DIY scene -- an unusually long gestation, recorded in sessions between February 1976 and September 1978 in a variety of studios including their own Cold Storage, a converted cold storage room in the Acme Studios complex. Innovating throughout, they combined loops and tape manipulation with live performance and haunting vocals to a complex, dissonant whole. The band recorded everything they ever did -- including gigs -- and tracks such as 'Water' were entirely improvised in the studio. Given the difficult, abrasive, and involved nature of their sound, This Heat never found anything approaching mainstream success, but patronage by the influential Radio 1 DJ John Peel meant they reached a national audience -- whether that audience was ready for them or not. Celebrating This Heat's 40th anniversary in 2016, Modern Classics Recordings will re-issue the band's catalog -- 1979's This Heat, 1980's Health and Efficiency, and 1981's Deceit -- with full co-operation of surviving members Charles Bullen and Charles Hayward. Four decades on, the tireless efforts of This Heat's process can once again be a revelation for new audiences."

Repressed. "Second pressing of vinyl re-issue. First official vinyl re-issue in collaboration with original band members Charles Bullen and Charles Hayward. 24 bit/96 kHz re-master from original analog tapes. Includes booklet with track notes and archival photos. With their debut album and follow-up maxi single Health and Efficiency, This Heat sowed the seeds of post-punk, avant rock, noise rock and post-rock, placing the trio -- Charles Bullen, Charles Hayward and Gareth Williams -- at the forefront of experimental music. However, 1981's Deceit is the one that truly deserves its reputation as a classic of the post-punk era, tying up the myriad threads of their work so far and adding accessibility and melody to the still furiously forward-thinking sound. Recorded in a variety of studios including the band's own Cold Storage, the 11 tracks put a sense of social anxiety and global paranoia to the fore. Some lyrics were 'harvested' from TV commercials ('Sleep'), others described the curtain-twitching of surveillance society ('Triumph'), and some were screamed with raw, ragged abandon, like on 'Makeshift Swahili'. 'Makeshift was a big learning situation for me,' says Hayward. 'I learned to let go with my voice, to release the energy that each song required, no matter where that might lead. The song, about the collapse of language, was central to the Deceit idea.' Musical innovations abound too -- drum tracks were recycled from other recordings, albeit in manipulated and mutated form, and 'Independence' reverses the melody of earlier track 'Fall Of Saigon'. It's an album whose themes and sounds unfurl before the listener, the mood of edgy, pre-apocalyptic tension growing throughout. Says Hayward: 'I still think of this record as a dream within a dream.' This Heat split a year after the release, with Bullen and Hayward completing the final tour without Williams. Hayward went on to form Camberwell Now and Bullen recorded as Lifetones. A tentative 2001 reunion came, tragically, too late -- Williams died of cancer within a month of them meeting to rehearse."

DUDON, JACQUES Erosion Distillee LP
Monster Melodies Records present the first release of Jacques Dudon's Erosion Distillée, a work of French psychedelic music recorded in 1969. Colored vinyl. Includes two postcards and a fold-out family tree of Jacques Dudon's bands from 1967-2010. Hand-numbered edition of 1000. Jacques Dudon is a French multi-instrumentalist born in 1951 in Villecresnes (a small town in the southeast of the Paris suburbs). At 17, he taught himself how to play guitar before creating The Soul Bag, an electric blues band. Under his Ghislain pseudonym , Dudon was considered one of the best French guitarists, with his particular style of playing the guitar on his knees. The band changed its name to Ghislain Blues Band, then Blues Bag, and went through a few drummers. In 1968, the band discovered LSD and the music turned to a strong psychedelic style: the band would play solos for 45 minutes, performing a "liquid show." The band recorded the Le Chien single (1970) for EMI under the L'Assemblée name (yielding two legendary tracks presented on many psychedelic compilations) before going their separate ways. In 1969, Jacques Dudon recorded some tracks alone for an album but the project collapsed and the music was never edited -- until now. After 1969, Jacques Dudon appeared at the Festival d'Amougies with the French band We Free and at the Biot Festival, playing after Frank Zappa. Dudon made crazy music with special amplified guitars to produce feedback, playing chords with different objects in glissandi (a process he was the first to use according to Daevid Allen). At the end of 1969, he joined Pre-Crium Delirium and went on the road with the Hog Farm for a trip to Kathmandu via Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, and Afghanistan. They organized the first Kabul rock festival in 1970 and stayed in India until 1974. He returned to France and invented the process of photo-phonic synthesis, becoming a master of microtonal music. He continued to participate in many projects in the south of France, building a new instrument, the Dulcevina, with 22 notes by octave in accordance with the 22 Indian shrutis. In 1979, he played this instrument for a project called Dedicace. Alejandro Jodorowsky used the instrument for his movie Tusk (1980). Dudon later created a school for harmonic exploration, psychoacoustic music, and initiation to polyrhythmic vocal and organized music festivals.

WORLD'S EXPERIENCE ORCHESTRA The Beginning Of A New Birth & As Time Flows On 2CD
"Both World's Experience Orchestras albums were recorded in and around Boston, Massachusetts in the mid to late 1970s and committed to vinyl in minuscule press runs by a visionary, bassist/composer/arranger John Jamyll Jones. Jones is a magical type, who communicates with his instrument, his ensembles, and jazz's ancient lineage in a manner so profound that his late-'70s album are out of time with jazz's trajectory, but timeless when presented today. By the late '90s the music of World's Experience Orchestra was circulating throughout the collections of esoteric jazz fans, the likes of Gerald 'Jazzman' Short and Gilles Peterson, who played 'The Prayer' for those, the Coltrane-enthralled searching for something new, something different. Something spiritual and honest. Peterson first offered to reissue 'The Prayer', as part of an anthology he was putting together with Los Angeles reissue label Ubiquity Records and that, to date, is the only official issue of any of Jones' music. PROPHET HENS, THE The Wonderful Shapes Of Back Door Keys LP
LP version. The Prophet Hens return for their second album, The Wonderful Shapes Of Back Door Keys. The Wonderful Shapes Of Back Door Keys delivers on the tuneful jangly promise of their debut album, Popular People Do Popular People (EUROPA7E 045LP, 2013). US music blog The Finest Kiss described their popular debut as "Chills meets Belle And Sebastian pop alchemy" before saying, "The Prophet Hens may be better than both" and making it their #2 album of 2013. Ringing the changes on this latest effort is the addition of bassist Robin Cederman's adventurous songwriting, on which keyboard player Penelope Esplin takes lead vocals. Her voice, the strong melodies, and richly detailed, dramatic story-lines are sometimes reminiscent of an Antipodean Neko Case. Robin's songs complement Karl Bray's minor-key pop numbers, which manage to be both melancholic and exuberant at the same time.

PROPHET HENS, THE Popular People Do Popular People LP
A vinyl issue of The Prophet Hens debut album, Popular People Do Popular People, originally released on CD in 2013. Hatched from Dunedin's dreamy but dark 21st century pop underground, The Prophet Hens bring a ghostly reminder of the decaying southern city's musical past, when bands crafted melodic, chiming jangle-pop in seedy bars. The band, and the songs on the album, started when songwriter and guitarist Karl Bray was laid up at home recovering from major surgery to repair an ankle he'd smashed up while escaping a night-time mugging in downtown Dunedin. He jumped over a wall to get away, and, in the darkness, fell twelve feet. The album was recorded with Penelope Esplin (keyboards & vocals), John White (of Mestar, The Blueness, on bass) and Sefton Holmes (Black Yoghurt, on drums). The current line-up of the band sees Karl and Penelope joined by Robin Cederman on bass and Darren Stedman (The Verlaines) on drums. The Prophet Hens music is marinated in the melodic sounds of that mostly fictional "Dunedin Sound" - think The Chills, The Bats, Magick Heads plus a little bit of The Clean and The Orange. But the combination of Karl's and Penelope's voices adds extra magic. US music blog The Finest Kiss, after making it their #2 album of 2013, described their popular debut: "New Zealand's Prophet Hens sort of came out of nowhere and swept me off of my feet with their Chills meets Belle and Sebastian pop alchemy. Both of those bands are highly regarded and the Prophet Hens may be better than both. Granted they haven't written a Pink Frost yet, but many of the songs here are nearly as memorable and lead me to believe that they just might have something of the Pink Frost caliber in them." More praise from Did Not Chart (UK): "Perfectly encapsulates the big bold ambition of Dunedin music with the quiet drama of isolation on a South Pacific island: part Chills organ-drenched pop, part bedroom angst".

Restocked; 2007 release. Daphne Oram is best-known for the design of her Oramics system, and also for co-founding the BBC Radiophonic Workshop in 1957, but until the release of this material, the only easily-available piece of music by her on CD was the 8-minute long "Four Aspects." There was also a 7" EP from 1962 on HMV, released as part of the Listen, Move and Dance series that was specifically designed to help children dance. Although the short pieces on this record are very basic, it could be argued that this is the first-ever electronic dance record! This is a survey of nearly all the major pieces that she produced since her departure from the BBC in January 1959 until her final tape piece in 1977. During this time, she worked independently in her home studio, and thanks to a grant from the Gulbenkian Foundation in 1962, she was able to pursue her interests. In Britain there were no state-funded studios other than the Radiophonic Workshop, which mainly existed at the behest of the drama studio and was not generally seen as a place to develop personal artistic ideas. There were also no university studios at this time, so it was necessary for British electronic composers to be self-funded. Throughout this period, she devoted her attention to developing her Oramics "drawn sound" system, which consisted of a large machine that enabled drawn patterns to be converted into sound. This system was eventually fully realized in the late '60s and several pieces here incorporate its use. The two and-a-half hours of music on this 2CD set covers the whole range of Oram's post-BBC output. All of the music is electronic with some occasional use of real instruments, especially small percussion and piano frame. There is also some use of musique concrète techniques. The works fall roughly into the following categories: works for TV and cinema advertising, film soundtracks, music for theater productions, installations and exhibitions as well as concert pieces and several studio experiments. There are also a few short pieces that resulted from an experimental music course given by Oram at a high school in Yorkshire in 1967.

William Burroughs was in and out of London from the mid-50s to 1974 and for several years quite settled in a flat near Piccadilly. During this latter time he developed and refined the techniques he used for creating cut-ups on tape. Working closely with Ian Sommerville, who helped acquire, and no doubt maintain, the various tape recorders that Burroughs used and abused in these experimental works. The work here is in two sections, which in their original form lasted for over an hour and first appeared in 1998 under the name Electronic Revolution as a free CD with Issue One of the French magazine Crash. The CD was quickly withdrawn with maybe only 100 copies finding their way into circulation. This edition is edited down to 46 minutes and comprises the core of the original recording. It employs the now familiar techniques of random drop-ins and cut-ups of readings. The readings themselves are also cut-ups of words on the page. The first section of the tape uses further processing by means of a second tape recorder. Recorded in Duke Street in 1968, the tape was then passed on to Brion Gysin in Paris where it remained in his archive until 1998. This is the first readily available edition of an hypnotic and meditative recording that examines the hidden power of words. Closer to work of sound poetry than anything literary. The album includes a 12"x12" insert with an essay by Ben Harper and several previously unseen portrait photos of Burroughs, taken by Harriet Crowder in her Hammersmith flat during a drug experiment. The back cover uses another Crowder image - the very next frame after the famous shot that appeared on the cover of the English Bookshop/ESP Call Me Burroughs LP (1965). Pressed at Optimal on transparent vinyl. Edition of 500 (numbered).

New 2016 repress. Deluxe LP format; 180 gram pressing. Reissue of the second Flower Travellin' Band album, originally issued by Atlantic Records in Japan in 1971. Satori is a conceptual hard rock/psych album driven by Hideki Ishima's furious guitar licks which erupt and explode over the harmonic heart beat of the drums and bass. Yamanaka's banshee-like vocal style turned him into an occidental Iggy Pop or Robert Plant while the band itself was rapidly becoming Japan's answer to Led Zeppelin. Satori is a huge album in every way. From power chords to Eastern-tinged North African six-string freak-outs and crashing tom-toms, the band flexes its collective muscle from start to finish. In short, this is a real rock classic of the type they simply don't make any more.

"New album by German psychedelic artist Sula Bassana. Time has come - once more: Sula Bassana walks on electronic trails again and produces an album in the attitude of electronic krautrock! After the trance-like album Kosmonauts (2010), a further album, based mostly on electronic instruments. This time, the sound is obvious more characterized by all the vintage instruments, which Sula accumulated in his Amoebenklangraum over the decades... Shipwrecked offers long and shorts, rhythmically intense but also sheer relaxed, restful tracks. Altogether, a graceful flow, which soaks in and feverish thrills the listener down-the-line: The spaceship runs ashore upon a distant planet and leaves a solitary astronaut.... who luckily has a discman, to listen to this album again and again! This is kosmische musik!"

HASHISH A Product of Hashish LP
Restocked; LP version in deluxe silver foil sleeve. Limited edition of 499. Includes poster. The long-awaited debut album from Hashish. Top-class psychedelia, taking the genre to a new level with a sophisticated approach to Afro-funk grooves accompanied by dreamy, playful melodies that range through a spectrum of Scandinavian occult psychedelia, minimal synth, surreal electronic soul disco, and rare groove. Some have described Hashish as a project that picks up what Goat started. Welcome to tomorrow. The sounds transport the listener into a forgotten world where the future looks different from what it became. On his soft, subtle island capped with clouds of cool fire, Pan weaves his teachings with the wind and the sun, raining sacred melodies on the hearts and minds of humanity and bestowing desperate loves and yearnings with songs of sainthood and madness. Transient temples of the flesh, laughing at death, clothe our lives in fire. On rippling altars of skin we sensual magicians worship bright burning desire. Upon release the album sky rocketed straight into #1 on the official Swedish vinyl chart.

APPLEBLIM Minus Degree 12"
Appleblim presents Minus Degree on Tempa. The first track, "Minus Degree," is a beat-less affair of sparse soundscapes and atmospheres. Full of tension, you will be swept away by the waves of synths and sub bass. "Move Them" is more traditional Appleblim -- 4x4 and dub techno chords build a sense of momentum over the space of seven minutes. "Twist It Down" rounds out the EP with a subtle roller. Broken drum patterns and bright synths help in stripping away some of the darker undertones prevalent in the previous tracks.

LECKEY, MARK Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore LP
2016 edition; originally released in 2012. Edition of 500. The video installation Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore (1999) is one of the best-known and -loved works by Turner Prize-winning, London-based artist and Northern English emigre Mark Leckey. It's a hugely influential piece, and the soundtrack itself has been sampled endlessly, most notably by Jamie xx on "All Under One Roof Raving" (2014). A phantasmic and transcendent collage of meticulously sourced and rearranged footage and sound samples spanning three decades of British subculture -- from Northern Soul thru '80s casuals and rave -- it may be considered an uncanny premonition of the hauntological zeitgeist that has manifested itself in virulent sections of UK electronic dance and pop culture since the early '00s. This record severs the sonic aspect from the moving image, offering a new perspective upon what rave culture maven and esteemed author Simon Reynolds calls "a remarkable piece of sound art in its own right." Divorced from its visual indicators, Leckey's amorphous, acephalic cues are reframed as an ethereal, Burroughsian mesh of VHS idents, terrace chants, fragmented field recordings, and atrophied samples cut with his own half-heard mumbles. At once recalling and predating the eldritch esthetics of Burial, The Caretaker, or the Mordant Music clique, it's an elegiac lament for an almost forgotten spirit and an abstracted obituary to the rituals, passions, and utopian ideals of pre-internet, working-class nightlife fantasias. It's backed with another soundtrack to a Mark Leckey video installation, GreenScreenRefrigeratorAction (2010). In stark contrast, the original video features a black Samsung Bottom Freezer Refrigerator stood in front of a green screen infinity cyc, recounting its contents, thoughts, and actions as narrated by the artist in a radically transformed cadence. Meditating on cybernetics and the ambient ecology of household appliances that permeate our lives, it's an unsettling yet compelling piece of sound design with subtly affective dynamics that reflect the underlying dystopic rhetoric with visceral and evocative precision. The piece was later used in a collaboration with Florian Hecker for the Push And Pull exhibition at the Tate Modern in 2011 (the soundtrack of which was released by PAN in 2015 as Hecker Leckey Sound Voice Chimera (PAN 047LP)).

SIGHA Christ Figures/New Puritan 12"
Sigha is back with a booming, atmospheric achievement. The resounding intensity of "Christ Figures" is layered with emotive and staccato melodic elements. At times distant, and then rising to the forefront of the soundscape; in their more muted moments these elements only hint at the form of a melody, their restraint heightening the track's sense of melancholic romanticism. "New Puritan" comes from Living With Ghosts (HF 009CD/LP, 2012). Offering a similar hypnotism, there's an untiring interaction between mid-range and bass that demands transfixion from the offset and retains it until the end.
