VA Collective Cuts Volume 1 12"
Cinthie launches her new imprint 803 Crystal Grooves Collective Cuts this December with a various artists release featuring S3A, 9th House, Kettama, and Asquith. Berlin's Cinthie launched her 803 Crystal Grooves imprint in 2018 and marked a new chapter for her own productions, gaining widespread recognition across the globe for her take on raw house, techno, and disco. Now 2019 sees the label branch out off the back of its success with a sub-label entitled 803 Crystal Grooves Collective Cuts, as the name would suggest, a home for music from the friends and likeminded artists of the label founder.

VELOCETTE Discotheque Saudades 2x12"
A Colourful Storm presents the first ever compilation of work by Velocette, the nom de plume of Jason Williams and one of the most unique producers from the '90s wider ambient-techno landscape of the United States. Gathered from recordings originally released on Jonah Sharp, aka Spacetime Continuum's Reflective label and Williams' own Parallel Recordings, the tracks are sublime, sought-after, and primed for modern audiences. "Bound In A Nutshell" and "Microcosmik" are chill-out room dreams, while "Memories For The Future" and "Stumm" are pure dancefloor and after-hours euphoria. Dreamy selection for dancers and stargazers alike. "Listening to Velocette is like gazing into a brilliant night sky -- a blanket of stars shimmering like a kaleidoscope just beyond reach." For fans of Klaus Schulze, Stasis, Likemind. Full-color, printed reverse card sleeve; includes liner notes by Jonah Sharp.

JESSAMINE ://ab008 EP 12"
Berlin resident Jessamine is making the serve and releases his first artist EP on the About Blank in-house label. With its rough bassline and arpeggio, the title track "flutes" clearly focuses on the dance floor. "derive" -- the second track on the A-side -- is a much more twisted, darker, and trippier one, more suitable for the later hours on the lobby and similar intimate dancefloors. Map.Ache and Kassem Mosse contributed fantastic remixes.

GODDARD Signals EP 12"
Apparel Music is delighted to welcome aboard one of the most talented house music producers in the scene, Goddard. The twelfth release of the Apparel's limited catalog is a brand new four-track EP called Signals by the Mancunian featuring a four-hands collaboration with Harry Wolfman and a remix by Jad & The. Every single track has been chosen carefully since the beginning of the project to make this record a representative work of the artist who perfectly blends his musical knowledge with the label's imprint. The opening track "Fourth Dimension" is a teamwork between Goddard and the above mentioned Wolfman and is the ideal start with its crunchy, slightly distorted beat, bold bassline, and spacey chords and arpeggios, surely a track for the DJ's out there to play out to a busy dancefloor. The title track lowers the heartbeat, displaying all Goddard's talent on the keys and creating an impeccable fluctuating soundscape of his musical characteristics: the beat is an oscillating, yet solid structure while the different timbres of his synths evaporate and reappear conceiving a dreamy, spacey track. Side B begins with the whimsical chords of "It's Not So Cold In Tromso" where the artist takes the listener to a brief and intense trip to see the Norwegian northern lights; the track is made by a strong rhythm section and flighty, far-out, harmonies which really evoke Scandinavian landscapes. Following is a free interpretation of the previous track by the Australian Jad & The who amalgamates a jungle-ish beat to Goddard's introspective harmonic section telling his opinion on the trip to "Tromso".

ENA Wired EP 12"
For the new Arma release Ena explores different, distinct facets of his sound across three productions. "Pale" distills his vision of techno as a minimalist, repetitive construct. Working around non-standard time signatures, he creates a densely-woven lattice of percussive pulses, which cut a polyrhythmic path through nightmarish sheets of noise. "Secondary Color" uses a broader palette that opens the Ena sound up to the light. "Wired" heads further away from the grid in pursuit of sound design exploration, as a rack of pipes and chambers strike, boom, and chime against artful distortion and cavernous reverb. While Ena has historically been hesitant about remixes of his material, he warmed to the idea of long-time Arma friend Jasss reworking "Wired." Taking the track into her own fiercely individual sound world, she uses the harmonic tonality of the original as a jump-off point for an epic, emotionally forthright chiller loaded with cold wave bombast, trap hats, and Silvia's own voice. Coming from entirely different angles of approach, Ena and Jasss are bound together by their fearless individuality. One can sense the slithers of pre-existing music somewhere in their constructions, but such familiarities are no more than faint echoes of places they passed through on their way to somewhere new.

COLORAY Real Life Cinema 12"
Coloray's Real Life Cinema infuses powerful, unpolished sound aesthetics with relentless energy. After cutting his teeth on both the Dutch and international DJ circuit, and nurturing his production skills as member of the Tunnelvisions duo, Raynor de Groot his solo project Coloray translates an inwards desire to create and explore off the beaten path, and does so with a compelling '80s attitude. This strong backbone in musical undertaking, together with his background in songwriting and vocal work, transmits a unique sound that drifts somewhere between the hazy lines of contemporary electronics and early EBM.

MORDISCO Atlas EP 12"
Mordisco is a Spanish duo hailing from the southern part of Spain (Granada). Their tracks will make many dance floors move with raw, resonating synths and beats. The scat vocal samples in "Odissi" and "Ventura" are right on the money and give the music that unexpected twist. The EP is produced with excellent technique and many synth layers/percussion. This is essential material for people that play between 116 and 121 beats per minute.

SAINT DX SDX LP
Saint DX is the incarnation of the contemporary crooner. Singer, composer, and producer, his style reveals an obsession for love and an exacerbated sensitivity. Raised in the Buddhist spirituality of his parents and cradled by the soundtrack of The Big Blue (1988), Aurélien Hamm tells about the fragility, but also the beauty of our love stories, and the reincarnation of our wounds in the repetition of our days. Oscillating between English and French, swaying bass and ethereal layers, self-tone and naked voice, he cites Sade as well as Mylène Farmer, Better Person, Kanye West, and Prince among his influences. Since 2018, he has released three singles ("Regrets", "First Fantasy", and "I Still Care"), accompanied Charlotte Gainsbourg on stage and performed many of her opening acts. This nine-track mini LP will be followed by many concerts and marks the beginning of a very promising solo career for Saint DX.

VA Black Solidarity Presents: Dance Inna Delamare Avenue LP
2020 repress; LP version. Black Solidarity Presents: Dance Inna Delamare Avenue is a compilation based on Ossie Thomas's Black Solidarity label. During the '80s dancehall era a number of record producers claimed to be the real authentic sound of downtown Kingston but Ossie Thomas's Black Solidarity label, operating out of Delamare Avenue in the heart of the ghetto, was the real deal. Ossie: "This was the start of the '70s when the political rivalry got heated between JLP and the PNP and the shots start fire... I said to myself if you're going die you're going die... from that me not scared of Kingston." This album provides an insightful glimpse into life in these unforgiving Kingston neighborhoods, describing not only the poverty and desperation but also how at times, styles, fashions and the cathartic joys of music and the dancehall could transform this harsh environment into one of joyous celebration. Features: U Roy, Linval Thompson, Triston Palma, Robert Ffrench, 3t 1f, Little Kirk, Al Campbell, Early B, Jolly Stewart, Lover Boy, Phillip Frazer, Sassafras, Sammy Dread.

DASYCHIRA xDream LP
xDream is the re-awakening of the child spirit. The child spirit lives everywhere: in our memories, the corners of our emotions, moments of mischief and euphoria, and whispers in the trees. In our youth, it grew from a seedling into the shape of the internal conscience, that little voice in your head that tells you right from wrong. The debut album by Dasychira features contributions by fellow artists Malibu, Embaci, and Baby Blue, as well as live violin by Iglooghost collaborator Vivek Menon and voice acting by mirukii and daisyvoice. Dasychira completed an Asia tour in 2019 performing A/V sets with Yikii in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hongkong, and Shenzhen before going to Seoul, Taipei, and Tokyo. xDream was released digitally on Halloween 2019 via Blueberry Records x UNSEELIE with music videos by Awe Ix, Dante Capone, Slama & Delong, and others.

Cien Fuegos present a reissue of Sven-Åke Johansson's Schlingerland / Dynamische Schwingungen, originally released in 1972. Sven-Åke Johansson (Mariestad, Sweden, 1943) works as a composer, drummer, accordionist, poet, and visual artist. Longtime collaborator of the free improv scene in the German '60s with Kowald, Brötzmann, Schlippenbach. He contributed to numerous exhibitions, publications, and recordings. Sven-Åke Johansson - drums. Recorded 1972 in Stockholm, Schweden. Engineered by Göran Freese. Cover photo by Norbert Eisbrenner. Cover by SÅJ. Remastering by Martin Siewert, 2019. 180 gram vinyl."Sven-Åke Johansson's 1972 record Schlingerland presents just the man and his drum set, exploring the polyrhythmic possibilities of his kit. Schlingerland fills a gap in the documentation of '70s European improvisation. At the same time, it retains a surprisingly contemporary sound which reverberates in the ear, mind, and heart of the 21st century listener." --All About Jazz

VA Sky Girl CD
Repressed. Sky Girl is a mysteriously unshakeable companion, a deeply melancholic and sentimental journey through folk-pop, new wave and art music micro presses that span 1961-1991. It's a DIY collection of different genres, from different countries across different decades, that are all bound by the same longing sentiment. A concept compilation! A seemingly disparate suite of selections of forgotten fables by more or less never-knowns, Sky Girl forms a beautifully coherent and utterly sublime whole deftly compiled by French collectors DJ Sundae and Julien Dechery. From Scott Seskind's adolescent musical road movie to Karen Marks' icy Oz-wave, the charming DIY storytelling of Italian-American go-getter Joe Tossini and the ethereal slow dance themes of Parisian artists Nini Raviolette and Hugo Weris, Sky Girl resonates on a wide spectrum historically, geographically and stylistically. It unites in a singular, longing, almost intangible ambience. If the names sound wholly unfamiliar that doesn't matter, the nature of the compositions swiftly nurtures an intimacy with these lonely, poignant, openhearted wanderers. Most were available in a very limited capacity at the time of their release, some were never really released at all - Gary Davenport declined to release "Sarra" after he split with the girl for whom the track is named - years later a friend convinced Davenport to allow him to put 100 copies online to sell and DJ Sundae was quick enough to snare one. Beyond their scarcity, these tracks are bound together by a certain raw beauty that's achievable when music is made and no one is listening. Sky Girl comprises of fifteen officially licensed songs, a two year international scavenger hunt through long-folded home label operations, the depths of internet forums and traceless acetates. Both compilers are well trained record sleuths - DJ Sundae's labels Hollie and Idle Press have reissued Arthur Russell affiliate Nirosta Steel and DIY relic Pitch, while Julien Dechery previously compiled Fire Star, a retrospective on Tamil film composer Ilaiyaraaja, for Bombay Connection. Released by popular NTS show "Noise In My Head" offshoot Efficient Space, Sky Girl is enriched with artwork from Perks and Mini mutant Misha Hollenbach and appropriately elegant sleeve notes courtesy of Ivan Smagghe. Includes digital download. Also features: Linda Smith, Bruce Langhorne, The Seraphims, Some of My Best Friends Are Canadians, The Rising Storm, Warfield Spillers, Joyce Heath, Angel, Nora Guthrie and Once.

EMIKA Klavirni Temna CD
Following on from the hugely popular Klavirni, Emika's first solo piano album in 2015 (EMK 001CD/LP), her second installment of piano solos are a magical cluster of melodies, dreamy effects, obscure production mistakes with tape echo's and other old analog gear. The pieces were recorded during the time she was pregnant with her first child Silvy, to whom she has dedicated this record "To Silvy who heard it first from the inside". The collection of "Dilo's" which means moment in Czech, were recorded "in a state of ultra-hyped up creativity combined with a massive fear about losing my identity or creativity as an artist once I would become a mother," says Emika, about the album process. A truly personal affair and in keeping with the original style of the first Klavirni, all the Dilo's were recorded improvisations by the composer on her home piano, this time in Berlin. This release marks the five-year anniversary of Emika Records, celebrating five years of independence since her days with Ninja Tune. Dilo Variations EP (not released previously before on vinyl) will come with the anniversary releases as a 10" with updated artwork (EMK 1001EP). This is also the final release in her Emika Records catalog before starting a new venture in 2020 with more details to follow later in the year. Klavirni Temna which means dark piano in Czech, explores the relationship between dark and light, good and evil, death and rebirth. "Music is a powerful and sometimes unexplainable force" --Emika.

FANGO Lento 12"
Lento, the first release of Fangodischi. A slow track, 115 bpm. An obsessive hammering over a dystopian rhythmic layer that reaches its climax exploding in a drum roll, like a cleansing fire. An industrial sound, whiffs of steam, disturbing metallic noise. A recall to the core of Fangodischi and the dual vision the artist has of his homeland: Venice, a "Disneyland" for tourists, and Marghera with its industries and poisons. Two faces of the same medal.

CHADBOURNE, EUGENE Solo Guitar Volume 4-1/3 LP
"Eugene Chadbourne is one of the great guitar players of the modern era. At the time he began recording in Canada in 1975, his music was a unique syncretic formulation. While its most obvious component was free improvisation in a style then most widely associated with English and European players, his music also contained elements of jazz, country, folk, blues, psychedelic and international sounds, referencing these threads in ways that were so diverse and intensely personalized it would take scholars decades to decode them. Volume 4-1/3 is the fourth of four Feeding Tube LPs in this series, devoted to documenting some of the music Dr. Chadbourne created in the years he lived in Canada, avoiding the shadow of Richard Nixon. As always, exact details of the recordings are vague, but trivial. Here are four tracks of improvisational guitar madness at its most glorious. Describing their textures is a fool's errand, but that is the job I was born to do. 'Bow' is new to me, but the sonics suggest the title may be a practical description of how some of the effects are achieved. 'The Bird', which has been issued on cassette previously, is a wonderful example of Eugene's most swinging jazzbo playing. 'Be' is another piece that's new to me, with long sequences of bent-string attack accruing epic grandeur as they unspool. And 'Mao Tse Tung Did Not Have to Deal with People Who Were Watching Seven Hours of Television Every Day', which was a bonus track on the CDR version of Solo Guitar Volume Two, is a sidelong ode to revolutionary techniques of all kinds, employing a bunch of them as it evolves, with results that are pure bananas. If you play all four volumes of this set in order, you will begin to imagine a whole new universe of guitar technique. We hope they fill in some gaps for you. We have been blown away by each and every one. And would like to thank Doctor Chadbourne for sharing his archives with us." --Byron Coley, 2020 Edition of 400.

ESKAPIST Eskapist Volume 4 (Manifesto) 12"
Technology sits at this EP's heart, its machine-made tracks creating ambience, vitality, and suspense across its varied runtime. It's tool-y at times, yet all the tunes sit and breathe their own distinct air, be it the upbeat shoving chords of (A1), an inquiry into the nature of reality on (A2), the tunneling abysmal buzz that is (B1), or the stark computer-stomp of (B2). Ending on a philosophical note, Eskapist underlines their mission statement as transporting meaning beyond their musicality and offering a reminder of our freedom and the responsibility to define oneself.

E-40 Federal LP
Restocked, new lower pricing. "The development of hip-hop during the 1990s is partially indebted to the styles that were cultivated on the West Coast, more specifically in the state of California. When one thinks of the California hip-hop scene invariably the G-funk of Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, and Los Angeles comes to mind, but to ignore the equally impressive San Francisco bay area scene is a travesty. It was in this environment where Earl Stevens, better known by his stage name E-40, came up in and developed his following. Alongside regional staples such as Too Short, Spice 1, and Ant Banks, E-40 was among the first West Coast rappers to sign with a major label, and scored a Billboard-charting hit record with 1995's In A Major Way. His flamboyant attitude, mixed with a driven, DIY spirit, would lead to further Billboard-charters, as well as collaborations with top-tier names of hip-hop, from California peers like Tupac Shakur, Too Short, and Keak Da Sneak, to underground legends like Tech N9ne, Bun B, and Danny Brown, to modern MCs like 2 Chainz, YG, and Juicy J, to even the company of comedy trio The Lonely Island. While E-40's break into the mainstream came with 1995's In A Major Way, he had recorded on numerous EPs and features, as well as a studio album through his own self-run label Sick Wid It Records. That studio album, 1993's Federal, would also serve as his solo debut, and paint a picture of things to come for the bay area rapper. With it's stark and aggressive sound, over top of beats that sampled classic funk and soul staples like Isaac Hayes, Sly & The Family Stone, and The Ohio Players, Federal put E-40s skills as an MC on full display, as well as promising things in the following years. Not to mention solid guest spots from his fellow Californians B-Legit, Kaveo, Little Bruce, and various others."

GUIDED BY VOICES Surrender Your Poppy Field CD
"Starting off the year with a 100-song marathon in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve, Robert Pollard is setting a mighty high bar for Guided By Voices in 2020. Following three acclaimed and stylistically distinct full-length albums in 2019, Surrender Your Poppy Field, is a head spinning tour de force: a bit of everything... plus more! And hands down the most adventurous GBV album ever. There are lo-fi four-track tape recordings, there are songs recorded with a single microphone in a basement, there are big studio fully produced hook-laden pop songs, and there is a lot in between. Seemingly, the guiding concept of Surrender Your Poppy Field was to make the songs sound as different from one another as possible: sudden shifts in mood, tempo and rhythm, unexpected chord progressions, false endings and codas, string orchestrations, mysterious voices... It's an exhilarating and dizzying trip to an inventive world of strange characters: Andre the Hawk, Queen Parking Lot, the Cul-de-Sac Kids, the Hard Hitter, the Steely Dodger, the Stone Cold Moron, A Man Called Physician, A Man Called Blunder... Not content with their usual mastery of the 4 P's (punk, pop, prog, psych) Professor Pollard pushes the envelope on Poppy Field, and continues to redefine GBV from a myriad of angles. Anyone who thinks that he's gotten complacent after 104 albums hasn't been paying attention! Don't miss out."

DISASTROID Mortal Fools LP
LP version. Mortal Fools was born in the bleak industrial wasteland at the outskirts of San Francisco, rising out of a hazy stew of mold, crushed beer cans, and cigarette smoke. Disastroid worked hard to get a thick, sludgy sound on this album, while keeping the rough edges and noisy energy that they always strive for in their live shows. Mortal Fools is music to listen to while enjoying the slow, grinding collapse of modern society. San Francisco veterans Disastroid have been serving up sludgy, grunge-infused stoner rock for the better part of a decade now, refining a sound that weaves heavy riffs together with angular guitar lines, odd time signatures, and hazy walls of fuzz. As influenced by '90s noise rock as they are by modern psych, doom, and post-metal, Disastroid delivers thick, satisfying stoner rock stomp while also embracing layers of noise, tripped-out feedback, and some unpredictable song structures. Their original approach, captured on their 2014 record Missiles and the 2017 follow-up Screen, has made them one of the most essential bands in the Bay Area music scene. Their latest, Mortal Fools is their heaviest and most expansive-sounding album to date. Produced by Tim Green (Nation of Ulysses, The Fucking Champs), it's sonically focused on what Disastroid does best, laying singer/guitarist Enver Koneya's deep vocals and fuzzed-out riffs on top of a relentless, pummeling rhythm section. At the same time, it's loose enough that it takes some unpredictable twists and turns, conveying the band's rough edges, sense of humor, and noisy, experimental streak.

DISASTROID Mortal Fools (Cherry Vinyl) LP
LP version. Limited edition cherry vinyl. NEBRASKA Y'miss Me Baby? 12"
Third time is a charm, as the saying goes. But if the first two times were already so memorable, what more can one ask for? Nebraska comes back with a bang for his third release on Heist after Soften The Wireless EP (HEIST 017EP, 2016) and Metaphor To The Floor EP (HEIST 028EP, 2017). It's hard to believe it has been three years since his last appearance on Heist, but with Y'miss Me Baby?, Nebraska takes back center stage with another release full of disco-flavored electronics. Italian disco man-of-the-moment Giovanni Damico comes along for the ride and delivers a stunning '80s flavored remix. It's not to say that Nebraska (Alistair Gibbs) has been sitting still since 2017. He's launched his own label Friends & Relations where he explores his cut-and-paste style even more with some seriously cool disco dubs and other sonic adventures. Furthermore, he made a guest appearance on Aaron Dae and JKriv's Razor'n'Tape Reserve. His view is one of humor and positivity and one of creating new meaning through rearranging context. This is certainly true for his music and this new EP on Heist. The title track "Y'miss me baby?" oozes funk with a clever combination of samples from different contexts put together to create something altogether new, yet familiar. The track has a real '80s disco vibe to it and the vocoder adds even more to the Zapp and Roger flavor of things. It's a laidback track that feels like it was recorded on a gloomy Sunday evening with no pressure on anything and just room for fun. The vibe takes a complete left-hand turn with "Dip And Flip," a high-energy house track that rattles, loops and bleeps into a full-on disco frenzy. The B-side kicks off with Italian disco wizard Giovanni Damico remixing the title track. His "Jam" remix flips the track into a freeform arrangement where guitars, disco claps, delays, and retro synth licks all work together for a great taste of Italian boogie. The EP finishes off in true Nebraska style, with yet another curveball. "Xia Long Bao" sounds like a lost Nick Holder track with its loopy island-style Rhodes and lazy chanting. The choice of samples along with the catchy groove makes this a signature Nebraska track and a quality closer for this single.

BJORKE, KASPER Nothing Gold Can Stay LP
After a three-year absence, Kasper Bjørke returns to HFN with a sublime new double EP entitled Nothing Gold Can Stay. Having followed a deeply personal ambient music path in 2018 led to the release of The Fifty Eleven Project on Kompakt Records (KOM 393LP), (named 5th Best Contemporary Album 2018 in The Guardian), Kasper has found his way back to producing some of his signature leftfield danceable beats, which "the past decade has seen Bjørke steadily rising amongst the ranks of artful, eclectic electronic producers..." (XLR8R) Nothing Gold Can Stay explores both the analog and organic side of his production work on Side A, while Side B reflects on sounds that he would play today, in one of his nightclub DJ sets. Side A contains four collaborations with four friends from LA, New York and Copenhagen. "Water", featuring Toby Ernest, the slow-mo opener to the EP, revives the partnership with Toby that was last seen on 2014's After Forever album (on the single "Rush"). Toby also provides the vocals on the cover version of Alessi Brothers' 1975 classic "Seabird" -- a track that came about through Kasper's friendship and musical synergy with DJ and vinyl digger Christian d'Or, who is lead crooning while Toby delivers his signature falsetto. The "Seabird" cover adds a distinct contemporary feeling to the original version while staying true and respectful to the delivery and mood of the songs core. Side B is directly aimed at the floor. Having stepped away from releasing club jams for a few years, Kasper is clearly enjoying getting back to the business of making people move. Side B of Nothing Gold Can Stay is both a testament to Kasper's versatility as a producer and an all-out dancefloor assault, made with precision and sensitivity. Also features Tomas Høffding and Justin Strauss.

BIYONG FEAT. CRISTINA VIOLLE, FRANCK Trouble 12"
A fantastic Afro-Brazilian futuristic funk anthem! After a few other successful projects, Franck Biyong, the French-Cameroonian Afrobeat composer, guitar player, and singer, is back on Hot Casa with a futuristic Afro-Brazilian club anthem. The similarities and filiations between traditional West African drumming and Afro-Brazilian religious musical rites such as the Candomblé are many: under colonial rule African people and African slaves outwardly practiced Christianity but secretly prayed to their own God, Gods, or Ancestor spirits. So, Biyong aimed at keeping the gritty urban menacing sound and poetry of Afrobeat with the percussive mass rumble of Batucada with the poignant beauty of Carioca. He then got in touch Cristina Violle, the first lady of "Samba de Roda" in Paris, who graced the release with a startling inspired and heartfelt melody to address the same issues of hope, resilience, courage, and humility; the people who live in Africa's shanty towns of Brazil's favelas again have in common a shared living experience. The first completed version of the song then briefly went on alternative radio. They went back to the studio in the summer of 2019 and started ironing the song again from scratch. That same initial spirit and energy caught hold of the, again from the day they started and, like for Francis Bebey's New Track in 1982 or King Sunny Ade's Syncro System in 1983 who were recorded in Paris over 35 years ago, they worked relentlessly to create a balanced but experimental track showcasing roots-y sound, pop instrumentation, tight world beat drumming, song structure, jazzy horns, spacy synthesizers, choral-like vocal harmonies with call and response figurative vocals. 45RPM.

ORGANISATION Tone Float CD
Inner Space present a reissue of Organisation's Tone Float, originally released in 1970. German rock band, Organisation, is often referred to as the prototype or predecessor of Kraftwerk -- the godfathers of electronic music. In fact, it was the first iteration of Kraftwerk and if the band had managed to overrule its record label, RCA, Tone Float would have been credited as such. But given that the album was to be released only in the United Kingdom, the label opted for the more Anglicized name, "Organisation". Tone Float is the only album produced under this name and is a seminal example of the genre. Audiences in West Germany were fortunate enough to watch and listen to the whole album, played live for German television station, EDF, and it is this broadcast featured here. The bonus track "Vor Dem Blauen Bock" (more accurately, "Rückstoß Gondoliere"), is a notable rarity in that it includes a later Organisation line-up consisting of Kraftwerk's Florian Schneider and Klaus Dinger, and Michael Rother who would go on to form the band, Neu! Personnel: Ralf Hutter - organ; Basil Hammoudi - glockenspiel, conga gong, musical box, bangos-voice; Florian Scheider-Esleben - electric flute, alto flute, bell, triangle, tambourine, electro-violin; Butch Hauf - bass, shaky tube, small bells, plastic hammer; Fred Monicks - drums, bongos, maracas, cowbell, tambourine. VA Dancehall Classics Volume One CD
2020 repress; 2007 release. The Prince became a King, never a truer word spoken when you look at the career of King Jammy. Kingston Sounds focus here on the early days of the dancehall scene which stretched across the 1980s. Picking up the story at the tail end of the 1970s, just before the sound became digital and computerized. King Jammy's production always being of such high quality, that telling the difference between his analog and digital productions was always a job for the experts. As you can see from the recording details all these tracks were cut in those heady 1977-1979 days. The reggae sound was again about to turn into what we would later know as its dancehall period. Although cut in the late '70s some of these tracks would not become hits until the 1980s had arrived. The King Jammy pivotal 1985 cut, Wayne Smith's "Under Me Sleng Teng" based on a digital computer rhythm, was still a few years away. Kingston Sounds link these fine tunes lined up here under the same umbrella as they contain that same dancehall feel, where the rhythm has slowed down and the snare sound is pronounced. Fine tunes that bring you back to a time and provoke memories when Mr. Jammy's stable of artists never sang so sweeter or sounded better. All the top flight hitters are here Johnny Osbourne with his place evoking "Trench Town School" and his massive time defining hit "Folly Ranking". The mighty Black Uhuru with their politically charged "Time to Unite". The sweet-sounding voice of Mr. Sugar Minott pulls you all in with his "Right Track" cut. Anthony Johnson who cut many hits through the '80s for Jammy, is here with his telling tale "Get Ready". Even the aforementioned Wayne Smith sings out on his pre-digital hit "Wicked Man". Hugh Mundell's "Bottomless Pit" and Rudo's ode to the Firehouse district scene "Ain't No House" -- all killers and no fillers. Also features King Everald, Locksley Castell, Fantels, and Pad Anthony.

Equally fantastic is "Terza" with its twisted, tortured synth lines and vocal yelps all bringing real drama to the deep and rolling drums. It's a turbulent track to bring real edginess to the club. LALI PUNA Two Windows LP
2020 repress; LP version. Printed inner sleeve; Includes download code. The world has changed rapidly since Lali Puna released Our Inventions in 2010 (MORR 098CD/LP), a fact that is also reflected in the band's fifth album, Two Windows. Written and produced over almost two years, these twelve new songs meet those changes head-on both musically and lyrically. Songwriter and singer Valerie Trebeljahr and long-time band members Christian "Taison" Heiß and Christoph Brandner -- Two Windows is the first album recorded after Markus Acher's departure from the band -- opted for a more dancefloor-friendly sound while not neglecting the pop sentiments rooted in Lali Puna's sound. Taking its cues from a brand of music spearheaded by the likes of Caribou, Ada, or even Mount Kimbie, Two Windows sounds lush and focused, balancing the emotional qualities of Trebeljahr's songwriting with energetic rhythms. A tour in South Korea rekindled Trebeljahr's urge to make music after she had focused her career as a journalist as well as on her family. While she was mostly working on new material with Heiß, Trebeljahr also sought out collaborations: Keith Tenniswood (Two Lone Swordsmen) contributes as Radioactive Man; Dntel, aka Jimmy Tamborello, is featured; harpist and Ghostly International alumna Mary Lattimore and experimental artist Midori Hirano (MimiCof) also appear. While Two Windows is thus partly a collaborative effort, it is first and foremost an album about emancipation and a new beginning for Lali Puna. The album explores topics including personal freedom, the presence of surveillance technologies in our lives, and the progressive gentrification of urban centers. Two Windows is not an explicitly political album however. In fact, much like a window, Trebeljahr's lyrics always allow their listeners to look at things from two sides. While they emphasize problems, they also empathize with those who have to put up with them. Trebeljahr has not come to preach, but wants to forge emotional connections. Musically speaking, the lyrical subtleties are reflected in a well-defined sound that likes to shake things up as well. Gender-flipping an old Kings Of Leon tune to present a great piece of music in an entirely different context? You possibly wouldn't expect that on a Lali Puna record, but as Trebeljahr sings herself in "Wonderland": "Cause all things will change / Cause all things must change". Two Windows, an album about emancipation, presents the Lali Puna sound in a different light than before. Glossy artwork and printed inner sleeve.

SAVILLE, ROBIN Build A Diorama CD
ISAN's Robin Saville reveals an ambient album, which merges the electronica aesthetics of his main project with field recordings, drones, and acoustic instrumentation. A lot of things have been written about what happens to the mind when the body starts moving. Instead of reciting poems of the inevitable self-help books, let's get straight to the point: For many, taking walks on a regular basis is both liberating and empowering. It is not necessarily so much about the exercise, but rather finding one's own rhythm in life. Robin Saville is such an ambler. His walks inspired him to base his third solo album -- his first one for Morr Music following releases on Static Caravan and Second Language -- on the out of the way places he came to see and experience while being out and about. Clocking in at just under 40 minutes in total, Build A Diorama is both a subtle culmination and a poignant antipode to what Saville has achieved together with Antony Ryan as ISAN. While the aesthetics might seem similar in places, Saville opts for a decisively different pace when it comes to writing and producing. Progress is steady, and change, however, is slow -- like looking at a diorama for a long period of time in the ever so slightly changing light or as a flaneur focusing on one particular spot, a found object so-to-speak, waiting for the mind to orchestrate it appropriately, giving it sense and meaning. Built around quiet field recordings, Saville's six compositions transform this highly personal and, therefore, difficult-to-convey experience into a comprehensible exploration of beauty. Where ISAN almost exclusively uses electronics, Saville deliberately expands this well-established palette with acoustic instruments like bass guitar, chimes, and glockenspiel, aiming for an even more suitable musical manifestation of what the walker sees and feels once he fully engages in his passion. Ranging from blissfully pulsing pads allowing for complete associative freedom ("The Deepdale Halophyte Economy") to the playful minimalism of an orchestra dominated by busy bells ("Bosky"), Saville's Build A Diorama is not just a valuable addition to his musical output, but an essential audio guide for those striving to explore, learn, and understand.

VA Musical Archives of West Africa - The 70s in Bouake (Collection by Bernard Mondet) CD
An important inter-cultural and commercial crossroads in the center of the Ivory Coast, the town of Bouake prospered during the 20th century around one of the richest and most colorful markets of West Africa. Working in this town in the mid-1970s, the biologist Bernard Mondet was fascinated by the Ivorian, Ghanaian, Malian, Guinean, or Voltaic musical traditions he encountered there. Armed with his Nagra tape recorder and a pair of microphones, he collected a vast number of sound documents in which Senufo and Bobo balafons, lute harps kora of the Manding, Peul, and Mossi flutes, and Birifor musical bows are mingled skillfully. The recordings will appeal to fans of the traditional repertoires of African griots and their main instruments: the kora and the balafon. The set offers a glimpse of musical life in the 1970s in Bouake, the second most populated city in Ivory Coast; it serves as a collection of traditional music recorded with Peul, Bobo, Mandingue, and Birifor musicians from various regions of Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Guinea, and Mali. Original sound archives on magnetic tapes, digitized and restored in 2019; Includes 12 black-and-white and color photographs, taken at the same time as the sound recordings. The very first CD to be released in the "Archives" series on the new MEG-AIMP label, which continues the collection founded in 1984 by Laurent Aubert and directed by Madeleine Leclair since 2012. ERMEL, PRISCILLA Origens Da Luz 2LP
Music From Memory announce a retrospective of an artist long-loved by the label, Brazilian composer and multi-instrumentalist Priscilla Ermel. Origens Da Luz brings together a selection of recordings drawn from a body of work that was originally recorded between 1986 and 1994. Priscilla was raised in a musical family in São Paulo and learned the cello and guitar at an early age. She then embarked on a deeply personal musical journey that would travel from origins rooted in Tom Jobim and Chico Buarque to recording the music of the natural world and the communities around her. A film-maker and anthropologist by training, Priscilla is a lifelong student of a universal music. Disillusioned with contemporary European classical music, she spent long periods living with indigenous populations in Brazil, collecting instruments that she would later combine with synthesizers and field recordings. After studying with the renowned Taoist master Liu Pai Lin, she integrated the slow-moving pace of Tai Chi into a music that connects intimately with a multiplicity of cultures at the same time that it unmistakably reflects her Brazilian soul. Combining sounds drawn from the history of Brazil with her own explorations of analog sound technology, Priscilla's music opens up a mystical space, where ancient and modern evolves into a new language. Compiled by John Gómez and released on double-LP, Origens Da Luz offers a panoramic view of this artist's unique and mesmerizing sound world.

From dreamy pads of "N_1" that start the trip, through hypnotized and trance-like states of "N_2" and "N_3" to tense groove of "N_4" the author takes no prisoners and delivers crisp, rich sounding collection of tracks that will light up every party. A solid piece of work from the artist whose name will purposely remain a mystery. This is about music. Dance to the sounds of Nechto!

R.KITT Ripples From the Edge 12"
Dublin's R.Kitt, fresh off the back of an incredible live throw down at AVA Festival in Belfast, sent us through some divine music that was a must-have. Ripples From The Edge shares five sentimental yet forward-thinking originals from the rising producer as well as a remix from label founder Eluize. The title track comes with cascading arps, ariose droplets, and pure, smokey pads that burst through a jungle of thumping percussion. "I Wish You Hadn't Said" gets going with gritty breaks and glassy synths that would be at home on a fog-laden warehouse floor, and mood-lightening melodic jabs slice through before things turn back to a tumultuous minor. "Strange Perspective" is casual and light-hearted, funk-charged electro. On the flip, "Stitch Up" feels ancestral, with heavy bass, earthy leads, and a dark and enigmatic vocal hitting heavily. Damhsa, the Irish word for dance, inspires the next jam, "Machine Damhsa", a fast paced 4/4 beckoning to do so. The track's breath-taking breakdown gives a moment of transcendence between its boundless energy and pulsating drive. Eluize couldn't resist the lush melodies from "Ripples," and dives in to turn out a cosmic, '80s-touched b-boy-ready version. ONENESS OF JUJU Chapter Two: Nia LP
"Essential spiritual jazz originally issued on the lauded Strata-East label. Magical, mystical, Afrocentric, progressive -- words that could be used to describe any number of musical compositions by Sun Ra or his cosmic brothers and sisters, from John to Alice Coltrane, early '70s projects on record labels like Detroit's Tribe or Houston's Lightin' or the interests of one Washington, DC native named Jimmy Gray that centered under one, perfect moniker: Black Fire. Gray spent nearly three decades pushing boundaries as a Black American promoter, distributor and, finally, record label owner. Together with Oneness of Juju's leader James 'Plunky Nkabinde' Branch, Gray oversaw sixteen releases on Black Fire Records between 1975 and 1996. These are the definitive reissues of five of the label's key titles; all were lacquered -- most directly from master tape - by legendary Los Angeles mastering engineer Bernie Grundman, With this set, Oneness Of Juju and Black Fire's story burns forth into its fifth decade, its message not tempered, its sound pure. It's cycle, once again, complete. Each release is packaged in a thick, tip-on sleeve and includes a deluxe booklet with extensive notes on the album, the Black Fire collective, and the musical and cultural revolution they created. Limited edition, one time pressing."

COLLOCUTOR Continuation CD
Collocutor enter a new decade with the timeless, introspective Continuation. Continuation is a remarkable work in which the interplay of emotional experience and life motion experienced by band leader Tamar Osborn (AKA Tamar Collocutor) is channeled and explored by Collocutor. The band's third album assuredly strides forward following the critical acclaim awarded to The Search from 2017 from the likes of The Wire, Vinyl Factory, and Gilles Peterson. Continuation is an album about coping with grief and loss/bereavement: The music charts the many (and sometimes surprising) emotional states encountered, moving from acknowledgement, trying to keep "normal" life going, the need to sometimes put a pause button on the world/existence and let the waves of feelings crash and roll, sudden anger and confusion, finally to moving (perhaps with uncertainty) forward. Tamar Osborn has led Collocutor through a line-up shift from septet to quintet for Continuation. The modified line-up creates space for the musicians to express themselves through the shadows of Continuation's movement. The quintet allows for more group improvisation, based on just a few motifs and thereby giving the musicians more space to converse. The tracks "Lost & Found" and in particular the album's title track, "Continuation" (the only piece with three horns), hark back to the intricate arrangements of The Search. It's a deeply personal album, the writing of which acted as Tamar's way of processing and understanding experience and the need to channel feeling. In listening truly Continuation bares that rare and precious gift of a morsel of the human experience being illuminated by artistic genius.

KADEN, MATHIAS Square (incl. Catz 'n Dogz Remix) 12"
An old friend returns to Pets Recordings. Three years after his Polyphonic EP (PETS 068EP, 2016), Catz 'n Dogz bring the legend that is Mathias Kaden back on the label and the results speak for themselves... Following his recent barnstormers on Avotre and Rekids, both "Square" and "Distant Horizon" deliver in that unhurried, cosmic journey-like way Kaden has made his signature over the years: gentle layering, subtle moment, palpable atmospheres but the drive and underbelly of a bulldozer. "Square" kicks off the show with an eight-minute adventure into deep, warm undulating acid. Heavy subs, fluid drums, and a persistent spoken vocal texture, this one wraps you up like a cloak. "Distant Horizon", meanwhile, whips that cloak off so quickly it will send you spinning deeper and deeper into the celestial rabbit hole. A ten-minute Mathias epic, it warms up with a progressive rolling feel for a good few minutes before you're suddenly derailed into a trippy, hazy brew of weird bass bubbles and some rather outlandish spoken word. Poetry in high-grade technoid motion. And the motion doesn't stop there... Ever ones to get involved, Catz 'n Dogz get their paws on "Distant Horizon" and give it their own gritty, grainy, trippy twist. Two parts tribal, one part bass, all parts peak time, this doesn't just stare out at the horizon but flies you right over it. Two beautiful originals, one killer remix. Be there or be "Square"...

Following Locks On Our Doors Not On Our Hearts (BLACKEST 061LP), a long form confessional for Blackest Ever Black, M. Quake (Tarquin Manek/Martina Quake) return to redirect relationship lament into alternate, shifting worlds for "Fall in Love With Yourself" via Purely Physical. In this 7" 45, you are treated first to an off the cuff philosophy on "how to love". Side A uses a sample from an interview with Eartha Kitt, her voice sitting atop Quake's stripped-back, sticks 'n' stones production style which utilizes background noise elements in the interview -- birds chirping, dogs barking -- with Eartha's powerful attitude emphasized by an almost gospel-like, dubbed-out organ. Side B, in classic instrumental dub style, acts almost as a demonstration or exhibition of this new found self-love, giving you the fully fleshed-out version that unveils all the sounds present in the A side and plays to all of the producer's strengths. What's left of the vocal is echoed to smithereens, the sub-bass line and resonant chords all harmoniously combining to create a surreal, Disneyland-like utopian setting.

ROSE OF VICTORY Suffragette City 7"
The story of northern English band Blitz follows something of an unusual trajectory. Formed in the small industrial town of New Mills in Derbyshire (once known for coal mines, cotton mills and calico bleaching), Blitz began as a hardcore concern, their first two albums considered classics of the "street punk" and Oi subgenres of the early 1980s, but third album Second Empire Justice shifted their sound in a totally unexpected post-punk/new wave direction, with intricate arrangements, greater musical complexity and a generally softer style. Unfortunately for the group, the album was a commercial failure that spelled their ultimate demise, yet just as the band bit the dust, bassist Neil McLennan and guitarist Nidge Miller formed Rose Of Victory with drummer Gary Bowler and engineer Nigel Beverley on vocals, cutting a one-off version of Bowie's "Suffragette City", coupled with an equally intriguing Miller instrumental on the flip. Rose Of Victory never lasted beyond this initial offering, however, leaving the single a unique memento of their faltering creativity.

NEWTOWN NEUROTICS Beggars Can Be Choosers LP
Radiation Deluxe Series present a reissue of Newtown Neurotics' Beggars Can Be Choosers, originally released in 1983. As suggested by the name of the group, Newtown Neurotics was a product of suburban Britain. Formed in 1979 in the anonymous town of Harlow in Essex (which had been established as a planned city to house displaced families in the aftermath of World War II), lead singer, guitarist and songwriter Steve Drewett took an openly socialist stance within the band, steering their music in a bid for stimulating social change, much in the manner of Joe Strummer in The Clash or punk troubadour, Billy Bragg; The Ramones also provided early musical inspiration, along with the deep and heavy sounds of roots reggae from Jamaica. Along with bassist and backing vocalist Colin Dredd (AKA Colin Masters), demos and early singles featured drummer Tig Barber, who was replaced by Simon O'Brien (AKA Simon Lomond) in 1981. The cassette release Pissed As A Newt surfaced in small quantities, but their proper debut album arrived in 1983 in the form of Beggars Can Be Choosers, a masterwork of political punk with pop and reggae leanings; in addition to spurring their listeners to wake up and take direct action on the disc, the album also addresses teen angst, messy relationships and the caustic nature of boredom and apathy, as well as gender inequality and racial tensions. Closing number, "Living With Unemployment" was co-written by JM Carroll and Nicky Tesco of The Members. Includes 60X40cm poster. First 150 individually numbered copies on red vinyl.

EATER The Album LP
Radiation Deluxe Series present a reissue of Eater's The Album, originally released in 1977. Formed in early stages of the British punk explosion by four high school mates in Finchley, north London, Eater quickly established themselves as one of the youngest and rawest bands on the scene. Lead singer Ashruf Radwan had an Egyptian heritage, hidden by his alias, Andy Blade, and guitarist Brian Haddock became Brian Chevette once in the fold; Ashruf's brother Lutfi was the group's first drummer, joining under the name Social Demise, but was soon replaced by Roger Bullen, playing under the moniker Dee Generate, while future Vibrator Ian Woodcock was the resident bassist from their second gig. Inspired by a line in the T Rex song, "Suneye", Eater was influenced by the classier side of glam rock but was very much a rapid-fire power-punk concern with their own output. Headlining spots at the Roxy club alongside The Damned, The Lurkers, and Sham 69 solidified their reputation, especially once their material made it onto the live compilation album issued by Harvest in 1977, and after footage of their appearances at the club were included in Don Letts's Punk Rock Movie. Signing to Dave Goodman's fledgling punk imprint, The Label, Eater issued three singles before their greatly anticipated debut album (which surfaced after future Slaughter and the Dogs member Phil Rowland joined on drums), which has since been hailed as an all-time classic; pointing their fingers at upper-class twits on songs like "Lock It Up" and taking the piss out of themselves and their fans on "No Brains", the album also features two Velvet Underground covers and an unusual David Bowie adaptation, all delivered in no-holds-barred triple time. Includes three bonus tracks. Printed inner sleeve; 60x40cm poster. First 150 individually numbered copies on orange vinyl.

ONE WAY SYSTEM Give Us A Future: The Singles And Demos LP
Formed in 1979 in the northern English town of Fleetwood, Lancashire (a former major fishing port that had declined since the 1960s), One Way System was one of the most highly-rated "street punk" groups that spun off from the British hardcore and Oi scenes. Mowhawk-sporting lead singer Gavin Whyte was initially joined by guitarist Craig Halliday, bassist Gaz Buckley, and rapid-fire drummer Tez McDonald; the early demos of "Jerusalem", "Spokesmen For Teenagers", and "1980s" included here were cut with that lineup, before former Zyklon B member David "Crabby" Ross joined as second guitarist, yielding the incendiary single "Stab The Judge" and the No Entry EP, issued by Blackpool's Lightbeat Records in 1981. Halliday later quit the group and when McDonald joined The Fits, accomplished drummer Tommy Couch brought a totally different musical dimension, his command of the kit well beyond the abilities of most of his contemporaries. In addition to the demos and the Lightbeat material, this compilation also collects the singles and EPs issued by Cherry Red's Anagram subsidiary between 1982-84, including the inaugural 45, "Give Us A Future". ITAKO All Human - No Conditions 12"
All Human - No Conditions is the first solo EP by French producer Itako. The opener "The Country That Does Not Exist" is a slow-burning and bass-driven tune in which hypnotic synth and acid lines merge with North African vocal pieces. Thereafter, Itako shows with "Freehands Desire" his darker side, a mid-tempo composition with massive drum patterns and forward-moving melodies. On the flip side, "Groove That Dust" is screwing the tempo back down. Six minutes based on a '90s hip-hop sample with an irresistible groove where it's assumed no one can stand still. The release is rounded off with a remix by MR TC. The Glasgow-based musician stretched "The Country That Does Not Exist" into a tribal workout with breaks in which he lets the machines speak for themselves. Edition of 200.

ANDERSEN, ERIC The Crying Space 2CD
"The Crying Space holds music and sounds to spawn tears. This double-CD is comprised of two sound pieces by the Fluxus artist Eric Andersen (b. Denmark, 1940). The first CD, Le Chemin Des Larmes, is a sound collage made for French radio broadcast in 1990. Fragile narrations in French and English by the artist and other voice actors, played over a streaming assemblage of tragic classical music. The sound crying, that of a professional Karelian mourner, is infused periodically. The texts describe the social and scientific nature of tears, in the context of Andersen's worldwide 'Crying Space' installations, which the artist describes in detail: 'The first Crying Spaces were made in Holland, England and Scandinavia in 1959/60. They were made quite simple by drawing a circle on the ground and to step inside to Cry. Crying is the only means of human communication that cannot be decoded and interpreted with certainty. You can observe a person Crying but can never determine why without additional information. It could be sadness, joy, pain, exhaustion, pleasure, relief or a particle of dust in the eye. However, if you analyze the hormones and crystals in each tear, you can with scientific certainty declare the specific reason for that particular Crying session. After innumerable Crying Spaces all over the world I had an offer to work with the famous marble from the notorious town of Guilietta and Romeo, Verona, Italy. The Verona Rosso. The editor Francesco Conz from Verona offered to publish an edition in Verona Rosso. Here, I found the opportunity to materialize the old Greek saying that the most fragile and ephemeral part of the human body, The Tears, eventually will change and shape the most solid parts of the world. The Crying Stone saw the light of the Day. Unfortunately not in an edition of seven billions (one for each inhabitant of Earth) but in a number of 19. For each stone a most elegant wooden box in mahogany was made. In this way you could travel with your Crying Stone and have it handy for all occasions.' The second CD, The Crying Place, is the soundtrack to installations at Emily Harvey Foundation in 1990 and Galerie J & J Donguy in 1991. Scarce cassette editions were made for these exhibitions. This is a 30-minute complete recording of a professional mourner as they cry and holler in sympathetic pain. The crying becomes songlike, as the weeping modulates and ebbs." --Sean McCann, January 2020 Gatefold packaging with insert of program notes; edition of 200.

SPATOLA, ADRIANO Ionisation LP+CD
"Ionisation is the first LP by Italian poet Adriano Spatola. Born in Yugoslavia in 1941, by the age of 23 he became a major force in the Italian avant-garde. 'Towards Total Poetry,' Spatola's critical study on the state of modern poetry, spells out his position: 'to become a total medium, to escape all limitations to include theater, photography, music, painting, typography, cinematographic techniques, and every other aspect of culture, in a utopian ambition to return to origins.' Graphic poetry (cut-up zeroglyphs), volatile and beautiful prose (particularly his books The Porthole and Majakovskiiiiiiij), and of course sound poetry, represented here for the first time. Spatola was the editor of many underground publications: Baobab (a legendary audio-cassette magazine), Tam Tam, and Edition Geiger. Each of his pursuits spread the margins of the format, all done with a relentless, piercing curatorial eye. Spatola has dark, drunken wit in spades. In his sound poems, an even more saturated persona is conjured. A desperate humor sneers through this LP, a humor that has surrendered to the severe joke of life long ago -- lashing out on syllables and ingrown word games. Particularly, his classic 'Aviation/Aviateur' (akin to his 'Seduction/Seducteur', 'Violacion/Violateur' etc.) Read by lesser performers, these pieces would falter and float by in the trough, though Spatola's bull-like confidence tears through. 'Poker Foundation' features the poet hysterically singing 'the play of the words' over a classical radio piece, mocking and squawking against the string swells. Steve Lacy plays scissors, knife, and saxophone on 'Hommage à Eric Satie,' a piece originally recorded for the luxurious Cramps LP boxset Futura. Collaborators Gian Paolo Roffi and Paul Vangelisti are also featured across the collection. The LP concludes with the titular work 'Ionisation,' recorded just days before his premature death in 1988. Feeling his sinking health, his belly in the quicksand, he prefaces the piece, 'a funeral march for my body.' He proceeds to scrape and pound the microphone on his chest, face, and clothing . . . I was born the day after Adriano died, which has some poetic meaning to me, naturally. I am indebted to him, his sickly sweet manner. The opportunity to publish these largely unknown sound works is an honor which brings a warmth to my torso. Much appreciation goes to Giovanni Fontana (poet and dear friend of Adriano), who helped produce this edition with me." --Sean McCann, January 2020 Includes CD and 20-page color booklet with essays by Giovanni Fontana and Adriano Spatola; edition of 250.

HENRY COW The Henry Cow Box Redux: The Complete Henry Cow 17CD BOX
"17 CDs, 1 DVD and 250 pages of histories, testimony commentaries and photographs -- in a sturdy box. This collection brings together in an inexpensive and definitive edition the full contents of all earlier Henry Cow releases, with the addition of a further 60 page booklet of newly unearthed, or commissioned, band commentaries, pictures and other documents prepared specifically for this box -- as well as re-mastered versions of all the studio CDs and a rare previously not for sale bonus CD -- Cabinet of Curiosities. This collection offers a major retrospective of one of Britain's most resilient and elusive bands -- and a redress to the rather over-tidy story told on their five officially released LPs. Like Frank Zappa or Harry Partch, Henry Cow were mavericks, working without compromise at the edge of their field and systematically breaking the rules and conventions that restrained it. In the 40 years since they disbanded, their work has acquired a formidable reputation, leading finally to this definitive collection -- which replaces a chaotic mass of degraded bootlegs with properly mastered, carefully selected and thoroughly annotated lost projects, compositions and performances."

CURRAN & JON ROSE, ALVIN Cafe Grand Abyss CD
"Jon and Alvin on terrifying form: Alvin spookily surefooted in his deployment of an often-counterintuitive palette of sounds, and Jon just brilliant. Living legends: Alvin recently left 80 behind, Jon is facing down 70. The two have known each other since 1985, when they were both living in Berlin, and they've worked together on and off ever since. On this CD they look back to their earlier careers, when they were gainfully employed in bread and butter club bands: Jon in the house band of Club Marconi in Sydney where, in addition to playing Italian favourites and film music, he backed funky soul singers and topless go-go troupes, and Alvin, who says: 'So embedded is the cocktail pianist in my music, there are times when I think in medium bounces, or up-2's, slow 4's or Viennese 3's with the accent on the delayed 1, offset by single triplet rest.' Curran doesn't scratch or filter his samples but takes them straight; it's the choice of the samples that leads away from the main path. Rose responds -- or ignores -- with regular and amplified tenor violins. And when Alvin reaches for the Shofar, Jon picks up his 3-metre drainpipe with strings. And did I mention the singing saw?"

BOOF The Hydrangeas Whisper 2LP
2020 repress; double LP version. The Hydrangeas Whisper is Maurice Fulton's first Boof material since 2011's Shhh, Dandelions At Play (RB 003CD), an album that was swiftly re-issued on CD by Running Back, as presumably Gerd Janson wanted to save it from obscurity. Like previous excursions under the long-running pseudonym (Fulton first used it way back in 1999), The Hydrangeas Whisper presents the more flowery, melodious and, on occasion, smoother side of the producer's work; warm, often organic deep house littered with live instrumentation, drenched in dub delay and touched by his usual rich, dancefloor-friendly disco influences. There are many reasons to love Maurice Fulton, not least the majestic, off-kilter nature of his finest musical moments, but his pig-headed desire to stick two fingers up at the music industry machine is arguably not one of them.

GUTI & DAVID GTRONIC You Can Still Be Mine 12"
SCI + TEC has been successfully growing its family of artists over the last decade, with now over 200 releases, label owner Dubfire continues to nurture new talented producers, as well as those more established. Together the label has created a steady stream of top-notch underground releases year upon year. Next up is this wonky four-tracker from Guti and David Gtronic. Regulars when playing together, this is the debut release from the South Americans as a collaboration team. Opening with stompy "You Will Be Mine" the duo are quickly into their stride with a solid bass groove supported by weird sweeps, 8-bit FX and vocal snips. In dub form, the groove is further stripped back for complete dance floor domination. Over on the flipside, "Acid Ramen" opens with a bongo groove ably assisted by acid touches and percussive energy. Covering bass, mid- and high- frequencies, the interplay of acid layers will make Josh Wink blush! Truly exceptional modern-day acid house. Rounding out the pack, "Pin Pun" is a straight house vibe with full body kit added. Starting out innocently enough, once the acid hits begin the wonk is out for all to see!

ICONOCLAST Domination Or Destruction LP
Repressed. Sealed Records release the complete remastered Iconoclast discography, including the immense self-released 1983 Demo, the Flipside 7" from 1985, plus two compilation tracks. It's a small but perfectly formed discography and one that 36 years after it was first recorded still has power, intensity and rage. Iconoclast were part of the early '80s American peace punk scene -- idealistic bands highly influenced by Crass which shined amongst the heavily nihilistic California punk scene of the era. Iconoclast's sound was in tune with Discharge, early Antisect, or Wretched while lyrically the songs were political and to the point. The demo was followed by their only vinyl release on Flipside which has two ragers and the more mellow "In These Times" which has a touch of The Mob and Omega Tribe about it. The band had tracks on various compilations including the seminal International P.E.A.C.E. Benefit LP on R Radical in 1984 which had the cream of the crop of international hardcore punk of the heyday. Domination Or Destruction comes housed in a heavy reverse board sleeve and includes a 24-page, 11x11" booklet containing interviews, photos, and flyers from the era documented (1983-1985), which will help understanding the band ideas and the local scene of the era.

TELLIER-CRAIG, ROGER Etudes CD
Second Editions presents Études by Roger Tellier-Craig. This CD holds four new compositions conceived by Roger Tellier-Craig during his studies at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal. Merging subject into object, opposing chance to narrative, putting source against sound. Tellier-Craig constructs and simultaneously questions the relation of composition and/as deconstruction. These pieces, or studies, are as much about organization as they are about irruption, or attention and idleness. Seeking to configure tensions through the use of differences, creating an extensive network of relationships between differing sonic phenomena. Time and sound coherent and in contrast in an acoustic space. But this goes beyond homage, and has nothing to do with electroacoustic nostalgia. These pieces carry a present-day urgency. What does it mean to utilize, to arrange, to listen? Edition of 300.

COLE, CRYS Beside Myself LP
"Beside Myself is the second full-length release from Canadian sound artist crys cole. Known to many through her extensive collaborative practice with artists such as Oren Ambarchi, Leif Elggren, and James Rushford, in her solo work cole uses contact microphones, voice, simple electronics, and field recordings to create sonic environments that linger uneasily at the threshold of perception. Demonstrating how cole's work has developed and deepened since the relative austerity of her first solo LP Sand/Layna (BT 017LP, 2015), Beside Myself offers two lushly immersive side-long pieces that explore ideas of compositional drift. 'The Nonsuch' is inspired by the aural hallucinations experienced in the hypnagogic state during the onset of sleep. Opening with scratching contact mic textures and unintelligible vocal murmurs, the piece threads together live and studio performances with field recordings of urban environments to create a texture that is at once seemingly consistent and marked by constant transitions. Individual elements rise up from the background thrum only to disappear just as we become conscious of them; heterogenous sounds and spaces succeed one another with the unassailable logic of dreams. 'In Praise of Blandness (Chapter IX)' also focuses on drift and transition, but in a much more single-minded way. Over a rich, slowly-evolving organ drone, cole reads a passage from the French sinologist François Julien's book In Praise of Blandness (1991) exploring the concept of 'blandness' in the Taoist aesthetics of sound. Beginning crisp and clear, cole's voice becomes gradually less distinct over the course of the piece, the spoken words blurred by resonant frequencies à la Lucier's I Am Sitting in a Room until we are left with only the rhythm of incomprehensible speech. The text that cole reads acts a perfect description of her aesthetic project: 'We hear it still, but just barely, and as it diminishes it makes all the more audible that soundless beyond into which it is about to extinguish itself. We are listening then, to its extinction, to its return to that great undifferentiated matrix'." --Francis Plagne (November, 2019) Includes download code; edition of 300.

KRIEGER, ULRICH Wall Of Sound: Drones Patterns Noises 3CD
Wall of Sound is a music of sonic sensations. It is a physical and sensual approach to the phenomenon of thick sound worlds. Sound waves become physical objects, four-dimensional sonic sculptures to be experienced, bodily and mentally. Ulrich Krieger's Wall Of Sound is a series of CDs about music that invites the listener to indulge themselves in sound. It doesn't guide an audience through a narrative, like a song, but offers the listener slow changing and developing soundscapes, acoustic sculptures, to immerse themselves in. How listeners move in and through these sounds is up to them: meditative drifting along, focusing on certain small details of sounds, letting themselves be taken away by emerging psycho-acoustic phenomena or going back and forth between listening attitudes. Wall Of Sound features compositions by: James Tenney, John Cage, Alvin Lucier, Phill Niblock, Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Lee Ranaldo, Boris Hegenbart, Zbigniew Karkowski, Ulrich Krieger, John Duncan. 3CD set comes in a digipack; includes 16-page booklet.Ulrich Krieger is well known as a saxophone player in contemporary composed and free improvised music as well as a composer of chamber music and electronic music. His recent focus lies in the experimental fields and fringes of contemporary pop culture: somewhere in the limbo between noise and heavy metal, ambient and silence. He also arranged works by Merzbow, Throbbing Gristle, Deicide, Terry Riley, Henry Cowell, and others for chamber ensemble. He collaborates with: Lou Reed, LaMonte Young, Phill Niblock, Text of Light, Lee Ranaldo, John Duncan, Zbigniew Karkowski, Thomas Köner, DJ Olive, Christian Marclay, Kasper T Toeplitz, Antoine Beuger, Radu Malfatti, Mario Bertoncini, Michiko Hirayama, Miriam Marbe, Hans-Joachim Hespos, Ensemble Modern, Berliner Philharmoniker, Soldier String Quartet, zeitkratzer, just to name a few. Krieger has received prizes, grants and residencies from: Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg, Villa Aurora Los Angeles, Deutsches Studienzentrum Venedig e.V., Akademie der Künste Berlin, "Meet-the-Composer" Forum New York, DAAD, Darmstädter Ferienkurse für Neue Musik, and many others. Since 2007 he lives in Southern California, where he is associate professor for the composition faculty at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles.

KAERSA & GRAESRODDERNE, LOTTE Jubiiilaeum LP
Tartelet present Jubiiilæum, a collection of early '80s songs by the legendary Danish composer and music educator Lotte Kærså and her band of young musicians, Græsrødderne. Breathing new life into old recordings, Tartelet has collaborated with the Danish composer and her family to restore and re-master an iconic production, digitizing twelve outstanding tracks from the family's extensive musical archives for the very first time. The reissued LP entitled Jubiiilæum (Anniversary) consists of songs taken from Lotte Kærså two first albums -- Jeg Har Set Det Selv (I've Seen It Myself) from 1979 and Hjemme I Vores Gade (On Our Street) from 1981 -- both of which have long been sought after items among diggers and vinyl collectors. In the nascent stages of her musical journey, Lotte Kærså's music was already imbued with a new kind of sound. Weaving genres from near and far, elements of exotic sounds such as samba, jazz funk, and dub-reggae come together with a distinctly Danish cheerfulness in the songs' lyrics. Stand out tracks in the 2020 release include "Prøv og Gør Ligesom Jeg" (Do As I Do), which has been heard in Nu Guinea's DJ sets, the Brazilian funk escapade "Karneval" (Carnival), reggae-inspired "Du Kan Bruge Din Krop" (You Can Move Your Body), the brilliant late night dub-not-dub tune "Byen Er Stille" (The City is Silent), and many more. Born in 1929, Lotte Kærså showed great musical promise from an early age. However, instead of pursuing her planned education at the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music, she chose another path: early childhood education. Starting out her career as a kindergarten teacher, a lifelong commitment to children and their musical education was in the making. Throughout the 1970s and '80s, Lotte Kærså pioneered innovative pedagogical methods. Combing rhythmical music with dance and movement-based activities, she helped promote their development in novel ways. In the following years, Kærså went on to produce TV for children, write music, and teach music education. To this day, Kærså has remained one of the most progressive music educators of her time, and continues to compose and teach. In the summer of 2019, Kærså turned 90 years old. To celebrate her life's work, a reissue of her greatest songs was compiled on a brand-new release: Jubiiilæum.

GALL, FRANCE Poupee De Cire, Poupee De Son LP
"France Gall was a prolific French vocalist and performer, remembered as one of the central figures of the 1960s yé-yé pop movement. Aligning catchy, spirited rhythms with lighthearted lyrics and drawing from the beat music a la early Beatles and Hollies, the yé-yé artists promoted a sort of new freedom of expression and breaking down of social barriers in post-WWII France. Third Man Records is beyond honored to bring this music to a larger audience by issuing the first authorized North American vinyl pressings of these titles, some of the most brilliant highlights from Gall's catalog. While France Gall had been releasing music since she was 16 it wasn't until she took the Grand Prix at the 1965 Eurovision Song Contest with her rendition of Serge Gainsbourg's 'Poupée de Cire, Poupée de Son' that she would be catapulted to the top of the swinging yé-yé scene alongside the likes of Francoise Hardy, Sylvie Vartan and Bridgette Bardot. This record contains two of France's most loved tracks, 'Poupée de Cire' and 'Laisse Tomber Les Filles' also penned by Gainsbourg. She recorded versions of the title track in French, German, Italian and Japanese and was now an international pop superstar. At the time France was dismissed by many as making fluffy ultra-commercial pop hits but her music stands the test of time far better than most, as not many were making music of this consistent high quality. Highly recommended."

Baby Pop is not only an important album for France herself, it is also a hugely important record for the entire yé-yé scene. Baby Pop hinted at the musical direction that yé-yé was headed in much the same way Revolver and Pet Sounds did in the UK and USA. Baby Pop is more mature and varied than her earlier more bubblegum releases. You will still find a wonderfully cheesy tracks like 'L'Amerique' here and there but with the impossibly infectious title track and songs like the Gainsbourg penned 'Nous Ne Sommes Va-T'en' and the groovy Farfisa-driven 'Faut-Il que Je T'Aime' we welcome a new France Gall and say hello to some of the fi nest pop music ever released in French or any language."

Third Man Records is beyond honored to bring this music to a larger audience by issuing the first authorized North American vinyl pressings of these titles, some of the most brilliant highlights from Gall's catalog. Without a doubt this is the weirdest France Gall record. 1968 dives further into the psychedelia that she was hinting at on Baby Pop. Even with addition of sitars and echoes of The Beatles, The Stones, The Kinks and Pet Sounds era Beach Boys all over this record it is still 100% French and could only have been made by France Gall. The addition of English expat producer/arranger, David Whitaker, brought a new and welcome airiness to the mix that was lacking on Gall's earlier recordings. The album contains 2 of Serge Gainsbourg's strangest and most out-there arrangements, 'Nefertiti' and 'Teenie Weenie Boppie' about an LSD trip gone horribly wrong. 1968 is an absolutely essential addition to any record collection."

Deep In India Vol.6 is probably the most intense release by live electronic artist ad Indian disco edit king Todh Teri. It is a definite milestone in his ongoing endeavor of releasing and (most importantly) representing mysterious disco and house edits -- from the Indian silver screen -- on vinyl. He immediately gets down to business with "Sampadan 18" as it swoons you down to disco town, providing you quintessential '80s thunder and lightning for competitive street dancing. In "Sampadan 19", he passes the remix baton to AAGUU (his first release), who further intensifies the dance off with a trippy arpeggiator induced frenzy. "Sampadan 20" is a must have house tool to instantly ignite peak moments on the dance floor, with its gliding riffs, South Indian disco chants, and epic instrumental crescendos. And finally, "Sampadan 21" rounds off the energy with a cumbia-tinged acid rework -- straight from the Bollywood silver screen of the '60s. If you are looking for some disco wool... Gordon's music is special; with his background as a Colombian (with that great heritage of musicianship that the country has) and as an indie rock musician (he used to play in bands for years), he has his very own vibe. His tracks have much more groove than lot of the sample-based stuff one can hear currently, and his production style is more variable and musically interesting than lots of other stuff. Check these four new tracks. Especially the second, which adds some freshness to the current disco vibe, bringing in a punk/funk bassline that could have been made in 2005 from disco-not- disco artists like Chicken Lips, Headman, or Playgroup. This is post-90s revival music.

PISTACHIO KID, THE Sweet Remedies CD
The debut record by The Pistachio Kid entitled Sweet Remedies features eight songs of incandescent beauty, presenting wonderfully warm and infectious melodies, elegant harmonies and combining these with a collage of musical styles and arrangements. The Pistachio Kid is hailed by critics and audiences as an idiosyncratic, creative musician and songwriter invoking the early work of Randy Newman, Bert Jansch, Van Dyke Parks, and The Sherman Brothers. The Pistachio Kid is the new musical project of Charlie McKeon, a talented and multi-instrumental singer-songwriter from Liverpool. An urban-Huckleberry Finn character whose music transcends genres, is other-worldly yet melodically familiar and evokes the spirit of endless summers, the exuberance of youth and that belief that everything and anything is possible. "I love music that's about playing together, like jazz or bluegrass, and I love music that's about composition and beauty, like Debussy. And then I love music that's about an individual personality like Dylan. I love people exploring what they sound like, it's all good." The recordings were written, entirely performed and recorded by Charlie McKeon in his hometown of Liverpool and represent his coming of age as artist. McKeon is a graduate of Leeds College of Music and has become known for his intricate and colorful guitar playing, his unique voice and exquisite songs which balance the perfect ratio of lyrics to guitar. "People try to tailor your creativity before you've even done anything, you need to do it all first. The best advice is the opposite of that. The B-side opens with punchy acid stabs and distorted guitar chords on "Untitled 02", and closes beautifully with a creeping early-morning groover on "Mr. Pink".

JONSON, MATHEW Return of the Zombie Bikers 12"
2020 repress. Mathew Jonson's second 12" single on his new label. Return of the Zombie Bikers is a massive spine shiveringly intense almost drum and bass b-lined big room track recorded in early 2005 and can easily be compared to Mat's strongest moments including, Decompression EP on M_nus. This track doesn't necessarily need the comparison; it easily stands out on its own. Let it work on and let it move you. "Put Your Booty Shorts On" is yet another a side track written in 2002 dedicated to his wife Frank and remixed with including a vocal in 2005.

BIESMANS Electric Love 12"
A core member of the Oberbaumbrücke family delivers a sleek label debut. As the club's technician, Joris Biesmans (aka Biesmans) has been an invaluable fixture at Watergate for the last five years. A true audiophile, when he's not tuning WG's sound system to perfection, he's building modular synths and honing his studio craft. Having recently quit his technician job to focus on making music full time, he's a new addition to the WG agency roster and follows suit with an impressive debut EP on the label, after releases on Correspondent, AEON, and Adana Twins' TAU. The title track "Electric Love" is a chugging slice of electro, marked by lush key progressions and attitude-drenched vocals from newcomer Idorski. Marvin and Guy Amplifier are tapped for remix duties and inject the original with a celestial melody line primed for end-of-the-night moments. "Technician on a Mission" is driven by a polished bassline that modulates throughout, while '80s synths give it a retro-future stamp. "City Boy" is a modern day synth-wave gem, reinforcing the breadth of sound espoused by Watergate Records.

HAPPA Blue 07 12"
Two tracks aimed at the floor, with a running theme being the human voice, from screaming to singing and laughing. Happa: "Vocals aren't a rarity in dance music obviously, but I wanted to experiment with them in a more instrumental and textural sense. Plus, I think you don't hear enough kinda weird shit in the more formulaic dance tunes -- only on the more experimental edges of club music ya kno?"
