UNDERHER False Promises EP 12"
False promises, true emotions. It isn't what you say, but how you say it. What you mean. How you act. UNDERHER delivers slow, sensual tales of heartbreak. Complex rhythms sounding like the feeling in your chest when you find out your lover has been unfaithful. The chilling voices of Neev, Liz Cass, and October's Child add a sweet sincerity to the dramatic compositions of Montreal-born, Berlin-based Khaled Bess, better known as UNDERHER, and together create the three tracks that make listening to the False Promises EP so worthwhile.

PALE BLUE Breathe/I Walk Alone At Night 12"
It's rare for a dance artist to deliver peak time jams with a raw political message. Lyrically, "Breathe" is an acute portrait of an abusive relationship where one feels stuck -- be it through financial necessity or trauma bonding in a violent, emotionally abusive or dysfunctional relationship. Musically it's ageless, rolling, harmonic acid house (there's also two exceptional remixes by Lauren Flax and Olive T). "I Walk Alone At Night" continues Elizabeth's essential message but from the perspective of fear and the heightened sense of danger abusive experiences create. Pale Blue have released 12-inches on labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Correspondant, and Me Me Me -- as well as releasing tracks for charities they believe in. Nothing they've released so far, however, hits with such a strong, poignant and critical message than these new tracks.

VA Instrumental Gems Vol. 1: Spanish Funk & Groove 1974/1977 LP
This compilation features the rarest and unknown instrumental tracks of that funky groove early sound. Light music along with wind section and keyboard ready to hit the dancefloor, that might be called Spanish-grooves. Composers, musicians, and arrangers like Gregorio García Segura, Rafael Martínez, Antonio Barco, Antonio Latorre, Jaime Botey, etc. During the '70s, an important number of orchestras and dance bands popped up in Spain but not many of them released their own songs or covers on vinyl, so it can't be said that the country's music library has bulky volumes, rather it's just the opposite. You have to dig deep in the catalog of obscure record labels to find some quality pieces, which Adarce Records will usually attribute to Tinglado 13, Conjunto Nueva Onda, The Matches, Conjunto Don Pelegrin, Rafael Martínez, Carlos de Ros, Salgado y su Grupo, Mesié Bató, Pedro González, Jorge Enrique. Most orchestras played bossa nova, soul, some lounge, and easy listening, and a usual mix of light music with wind section and keyboards, something like "Spanish-soul" or "rhythm'n'blues-pasodoble". It was a time when the bands survived playing shows with a repertoire based, mostly, on Spanish popular songs and international hits. Many artists recorded with nicknames, many others used licensed songs paying rights to the original authors and some orchestras changed their names when they pressed their records, in an attempt to appear modern or simply for pure commercial purposes, that's why it is difficult to trace accurately the musical path of many of these artists. This scene was especially intense in Aragon and Catalonia, where a bunch of labels emerged, often simply as platforms for bands to promote their own music. This compilation aims to discover to a wider audience some of the most sought-after instrumental gems by DJs and disco music collectors, eager for soul, groove, and hot sounds. Vol. 1 features Gregorio García Segura, Los Brandis Con María Nevada, Lin Barto, Blas And His Friends, Jorge Enrique, Roberto Serrano, Rafael Martínez, Orquesta A. Latorre, Orquesta Miramar, Conjunto Nueva Onda, Ramón Gil, Mesie Bató, Red-Key, and Unidades. Edition of 500 (numbered).

SAROOS OLU LP
Deliberately breaking all the rules Mr. Hornby once famously outlined regarding the creation of homemade (tape) compilations, Saroos's members indeed had the term "mixtape" on their minds while working on their latest full-length -- albeit in the hip-hop sense: a sonic snack box, interconnected shots from the hip, something that just came together and immediately felt right. Whereas hip-hop folks nowadays often use the vacuous term "project" in order to steer clear of the ontological debate caused by the almost synonymous use of album/mixtape, Florian Zimmer, Christoph Brandner, and Max Punktezahl, otherwise busy with The Notwist, Driftmachine, and Lali Puna, stick to the classics: their new 16-track project OLU (Off Label Use) is, officially, still an album. But it's wild and vibrant like a mixtape, interwoven like its cover: a seamless burst of ideas, impulsively combined to form a split-screen snapshot of recent moments and momentums. Re-appropriating the term "Off Label Use" -- which actually means: using prescription drugs in ways that aren't mentioned on the instruction leaflet -- in their own "off-label" way, Saroos never sounded more loose-limbed and elastic. Whereas the trio's earlier releases were rather conceptual and homogenous, OLU indeed has a more loose, spur-of-the-moment feel, a spontaneous force at its core. Checking the weighty sci-fi inspirations at the door, they use that Bomb Shelter-type of freedom to reinvent themselves at every turn, chasing sounds that happened to emerge in the group's triangular energy field. "Quarantaine", the massive reverb-stumblin' adjustment between beats and bass, opens and cross-fades smoothly into "Humdrum Rolloff", an early hint at the group's off-label practices: the underwater creepers floating around here were really voices (mostly). From majestically built oriental sound-pieces ("Looney Suite Serenade"), synth-based "End House Mario", and a triptych of speaker-boxxxing gas lamp experimentations entitled "Cord Burn 1-3", Saroos have rarely sounded this playful and unrestricted: there's a new energy at work that welds all the different sonic playing fields together to create one continuous 40 minute mix. "Tatsu Jam" billows over the kind of sizzling hi-hats you'd expect to hear on real trap tapes from Hotlanta. A prelude to a bunch of quicker-paced instrumentals ("Scratch Pets", "24h Love Gumbo") and ambient sun showers, until the next "Plateau" (Mo'Wax vibes!) brings the beats to the fore once again ("Tomorrow's Kudos"), and the ultimate "Whirligig" sounds like a mix of Oktoberfest 2020 and Johnston's "Casper The Friendly Ghost" coming apart at the seams. Features Wild Card. Includes download code; Edition of 300.

VAN BUUREN & FRIENDS, ARMIN A State Of Trance 950 2CD
Scorching basslines, soaring melodies, and blasts of emotion. Ever since the beginning, the pillars of trance music have always stood tall and proud. With every stadium-quivering event or blazing radio show episode, it gets increasingly clear that few things come close to the magnitude of the genre. And that's exactly what Armin van Buuren set out to mirror with the official album of the upcoming "A State Of Trance 950" events. Filled to the brim with forty masterpieces from the genre's flagbearers, grandmasters and brightest stars, A State Of Trance 950 reflects the heart of the 950 episodes of Armin van Buuren's long-running radio show. With records from the likes of Ace Venture, Aly & Fila, Andrew Rayel, Ben Gold, Estiva, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Grum, Ilan Bluestone, Markus Schulz, Richard Durand, and Tempo Giusto at its core, the album's track selection stretches far and wide to capture the essence of it all, to have its fans gasping for air each time a new track is played, from the anthemic "Let The Music Guide You" to Andrew Rayel and Haliene's "Take All Of Me" and Aly & Fila with JES's "I Won't Let You Fall". And now, as the milestone number of 1000 magical episodes seems only a whisker away, A State Of Trance 950 shows exactly how far the genre's come, how it continues to wow fans today, and how bright its future is. ANDERSON, JOEY Rainbow Doll 2LP
On his third album, Rainbow Doll, the New Jersey house mystic Joey Anderson speaks to us. Of course, like everything Anderson does, the message is encoded. On tracks like "Beside Me" and "Cindy", his voice rings out in dream incantations -- on the latter, he repeats a Mark Hollis-like mantra over a perfect, minimalist house loop while the former sounds like the late, great Ron Hardy taking the razor-and-tape to Ike Yard. It's his third record for the Berlin-based label Avenue 66, and graciously illuminates the dream logic introduced on his debut for the imprint, the 2013 leftfield classic Above The Cherry Moon. While Rainbow Doll satisfies those outer impulses, the album's core comprises what are perhaps Anderson's most indelible dance tracks to date, like "Bounce With It", a jacking anthem which sees him at mission control, sending widescreen synth lines soaring through the atmosphere. With the aforementioned vocals punctuating five of the eight tracks, Rainbow Doll is Anderson's most personal work to date. It's his first album since 2015, but also his shortest, most concise full-length. Even with a more direct approach, the elusive, dreamlike quality which has made his work so intriguing remains intact. He speaks of dreams throughout the record, even as his uncanny methodology comes into focus. More than ever before, you will understand the materials Anderson uses to construct his Escher-like tracks. You hear his fingers on the keys, the sturdy east coast house beats he learned to dance to. The dreams have become lucid. As he puts it deep in the album, they "seem so real".

MUNK, JONAS Minimum Resistance CD
Minimum Resistance is Jonas Munk's most abstract and minimalist album to date, ten ambient pieces based on guitars -- often processed into soft, slow billows of sound. There's a rare aesthetic clarity in these pieces, allowing each sonic component to breathe and resonate. Here Munk works with a restrained sonic palette and it's an album which demands patience from the listener. Yet, in its bold simplicity, it carries enough emotional weight to be deeply rewarding. It's an immersive album, an invitation for the listener to sink deep into a series of mesmerizing, but peculiarly undefined, moods. Minimum Resistance celebrates slowness, reclusiveness and simplicity. There's hardly anything ground-breaking about this kind of music, but rarely does it flow as naturally and effortless as on this set. It's clear this is the work of someone who has been refining his craft over the course of two decades. Besides producing his own music, Jonas Munk also works as a recording and mastering engineer, and has slowly but surely established his own sonic signature. It's the kind of work where subtle gradual changes and minuscule textural details has a tremendous impact on the listener.

TENOR, JIMI NY, Hel, Barca 2CD
Finnish composer and multi-instrumentalist Jimi Tenor has joined forces with Bureau B to release NY, Hel, Barca, a retrospective compilation spanning the years 1994-2001. The release features early works and selected tracks from his first six albums, long since deleted. Having disbanded Jimi Tenor And His Shamans, the artist embarked on a solo career in the early 1990s, recording his debut work Sähkömies on rudimentary equipment in a small New York apartment. The album was released in 1994 on the Finnish imprint Sähkö, who also issued Tenor's sophomore work Europa a year later, expanding on the ideas articulated on the first disc. In spite of the experimental nature and free form of these early recordings, Tenor's instinctive grasp of pop appeal, his spontaneity and whimsical sense of humor are clearly in evidence. On the back of a game-changing performance at the Love Parade in Berlin, Jimi Tenor scored his first hit with "Take Me Baby", entering the charts and signing a deal with the seminal electronic label Warp Records. The three Warp albums --Intervision (1997), Organism (1999), and Out Of Nowhere (2000) -- were touchstones in the electronic club music scene of the period. Effortlessly blending jazz, synthesizer sounds, Afrobeat, and drum machine dubs, Jimi Tenor created a distinctive sound which he himself rewired and renewed. Not that his compositions were overly academic, on the contrary -- they often resembled free-flowing, sporadic sketches, with an infectiously irrepressible touch of the absurd. The 20 tracks on NY, Hel, Barca document key stages of Jimi Tenor's remarkable creative path, underlining the prolific and varied nature of his artistic output. Then as now, he shines like a satellite hovering over the European pop landscape. "Backbone Of The Night" features Riga Symphony Orchestra.

LAOLU Force EP 12"
With his nothing-short-of-outstanding Force EP on Compost, the prodigious Laolu pushes his boundaries even further and provides us with a refreshing and yet poignant travel through his vision of Afro-inspired house music. In addition to this musical marvel comes a long-awaited vinyl exclusive Laolu remix of Sophie Hunger's "There Is Still Pain Left", one that will be remembered. It received heavy support already from the likes of Solomun, Marcus Worgull, Trikk, and Eagles & Butterflies. Released on Innervisions at the end of 2015, Laolu's remix of Dele Sosimi's "Too Much Information" has been a number one hit and Dixon and Âme's favorite track of the year. Laolu was born out of the love of a Nigerian father and a Swiss mother who, most appropriately, met in a record store in Berlin. He spent his first years in Nigeria where his parents owned "The Gallery", a club dedicated to jazz and soul; so his musical education began. After relocating to France, he attended a music school in order to learn saxophone and music theory, but upon discovering Detroit techno pioneers Derrick May and Carl Craig at the age of 18, he sold his saxophone to buy his first drum machine. He then moved to Geneva where he started DJing and met Kadebostan, who quickly became a musical coconspirator in the studio and as a DJ partner. In 2010, Laolu released his first EP O Fantasma on the young Berlin based label Clap Your Hands, a deep tune for special club moments. During the following years, his collaborations and solo work have led him to produce music for labels including Innervisions, Defected, Compost Records, Get Physical, Weapons, Freude Am Tanzen, Clap Your Hands, Mental Groove, Jalapeno Records, and Soundway Records. He kicked off 2014 writing and producing "Sene Kela" for Mr Raoul K's new album, which gathered love and support from Dixon, Mano Le Tough, and more. As a DJ, he has built a solid reputation in his hometown of Geneva, but also played across Europe in Berlin, Paris, Krakow, and Tbilisi. Ruff techno and heart-warming house, his style is both sophisticated and raw at once, allowing him to swing moods and match the feverish atmosphere of any club.

HANGING STARS, THE A New Kind Of Sky CD
London-based folk-psych-country band The Hanging Stars return with their eclectic third studio album, A New Kind Of Sky. Carrying on their exploration of transatlantic psychedelic folk and cosmic country, the new album blends twelve-string, harmony-laden lullabies with soft rock anthems to create a gilded box of bucolic folk-rock. As well as the band's signature wistful pastoral escapism, there are lyrical concerns about the recent past; the systematic division of people, values, facts and humanity in The West in general -- and the UK in particular. The band weave the same thread they have always woven but this time with a more unified vision, creating a kaleidoscopic poncho for these times. The Hanging Stars comprise songwriter, singer and guitarist Richard Olson, Sam Ferman on bass, Paulie Cobra on drums, Patrick Ralla on guitars, keys and vocals, and renowned pedal steel player Joe Harvey-Whyte. Returning guest Collin Hegna from Brian Jonestown Massacre plays an instrument called a Marxophone on "Choir of Criers". They also welcome Sean Read of The Rockingbirds and Dexy's Midnight Runners, who adds horns to "Three Rolling Hills" and "I Was A Stone". The bulk of the recording was done live in the studio at Echozoo in Eastbourne with Dave Lynch. For the first time, the band decided to dive straight in to the recording studio following their German tour in 2018. Having lived in each other's pockets and played their new songs every night, the band were as tight and primed as they could possibly be. There ensued a few, very long days of recording, capturing the essence of the band in their element. The songwriting process was even more collaborative for this album, enhanced by Harvey-White's arrangements and Cobra's harmonies. The biggest difference is that Ferman sings lead on the first single "'(I've Seen) The Summer in Her Eyes", a song about lost love and self-doubt channeled through two-and-a-half minutes of garage pastoralism. The Hanging Stars' debut album Over The Silvery Lake (CRO 003CD, 2016) received plaudits from broadsheets such as The Times and The Guardian. Their second album Songs For Somewhere Else (CRO 005CD, 2017) received critical acclaim from the likes of Uncut and Shindig.

Death is common and a constant, yet always different in context but similar in outcome. It is always a mystery, and questions always abound from its unraveling. As darkness unfolds, the desperate soul searches for a resting place as hopes and silent prayers resonate across all lands. NORDVARGR Daath LP
"Nordvargr returns to Cyclic Law with yet another crushing offering that follows in the footsteps of it's highly acclaimed predecessor Metempsychosis and develops the sound even further. Daath was recorded back to back with MZ. 412's Svartmyrkr and the creative maelstrom that infused that masterpiece also can be heard in Nordvargr´s solo efforts. The ambient parts have been put in the backseat in order to make way for heavy percussion, stringed and bowed instrumentation and thundering vocals delivered with serious intent. The title refers to the false sephira which also can be interpreted as the great abyss that needs to be crossed in order to attain higher knowledge; a fitting analogy for the ordeals that took place during the composition of this album as well as a perfect symbol of the new sound and direction of Nordvargr's creative universe. ASHWORTH, JOSEPH Breathe 12"
London-based DJ and producer Joseph Ashworth has unveiled his captivating new single Breathe on Disco Halal. Taken from the forthcoming EP of the same name, "Breathe" showcases Joseph Ashworth's emotive, atmospheric brand of electronica. Featuring the delicate vocals of Vanity Fairy, no fewer than three versions of the track feature on the hotly anticipated EP, as well as further tracks "Alternator" and "Expectation." 2019 was a year where Joseph Ashworth's music took a turn to the left-field, combining a darker edge and catching the attention of DJ Tennis, who released his Trooper EP (LAD 041EP, 2019) on his Life & Death imprint. A stand-out release championed by the likes of Sven Vath and Adriatique, it has come to cement his position as a unique talent at the top of his game.

IJI iji LP
iji (pronounced "ee-hee") is songwriter Zach Burba's tenured, pop coalition. Bred in Phoenix and fully flowered in Seattle, iji has been touring the American underground for 14 years, releasing a countless number of beloved LPs and tapes and pressing pause only for Zach to join the roving swarms of friends like Mega Bog, Dear Nora, and Clyde Peterson, whose Torrey Pines film (2016) featured a live touring soundtrack by Zach and others. iji, their self-titled 11th release, is a crucial wander through a gummi jungle that thrums with living things. When it came time to record, iji live band alums Jake Jones (drums), Will Murdoch (bass), Evan Easthope (guitar), Tyler Martin (synths), Erin Birgy (vocals), and Jade Tcimpidis (vocals) lined up to help alongside a large number of friends, guests, and new collaborators including Zach's dad, David Burba (who plays harmonica on the opening track). Zach also recruited collaborators, James Krivchenia (Big Thief) and Erin Birgy (Mega Bog) to engineer and co-produce respectively, with eternal heroes like Arthur Russell, Laura Nyro, Peter Ivers, and Squeeze swimming in the clouds above. Although iji consistently slips from genre assignment, it has been an earnest pop experiment since its inception. The dancing procession of iji albums have reliably been about goofing, dreaming, love, and adventures through both inner- and outer-space, with lyrics and arrangements that sparkle with good-natured self-awareness. The theme of movement -- necessary, joyful, and dizzying -- zigs through the record, most notably with the minty-blue "Faster", and duet "In Motion", featuring vocals from fellow road dog Greta Kline (Franky Cosmos). Present, too, are the loss and loneliness that come with endless flux, whether it's in feeling alone-together in the social anxiety warble "Party's Turn", missing old kinship of absent pals ("Where Are You?"), accepting bewilderment at your own reflection ("I Don't Ever Wanna Go Back", "Lizard", "Much Oblige"), or even in singing a requiem for a favorite tape whose warped reels can't light the brain like they used to ("The Ultimate in Relaxation"). Other songs are stories told in harmony with these ideas; an artist's performative self wriggles out of being truly known in "Something to Say", we stop to gawk at the dude within ("Chewing"), and thumbs twirl in the sunny one-room cottage of "Salmon Ladder". The album's synaesthetic palette, pocked and splashed with noises, is a direct nod to iji's relationship with visual art. One of Zach's paintings appears on the cover and is, quite literally, a still-life of the music. Includes lyric sheet and download code; edition of 500.

POWER, RYAN Mind the Neighbors LP
"Music doesn't have to be self-expression, but for Ryan Power that's the only way it can be. Every note, melody, turn of phrase, and point of view in Power's carefully-crafted songs is intravenously infused with his particular way of moving through the world. It's a curious, probing, never-satisfied mode; he's always searching for the perfect combination of chords, the most precise arrangement of words, the most complete capturing of a mood. As one song on his eighth album Mind the Neighbors puts it, his songs are 'dreams on the run' -- part of an exhilarating chase for elusive ideals. That chase leads to some wonderfully weird discoveries. On the wind-blown 'The Slime', sweetened tones inspire surreal visions: 'your feet are burning on thoughts of coal / slowly seeping through the walls of your soul.' Whitetail deer and tectonic shifts get equal footing in the breezy sway-rock of 'Spirit Animal', which takes place during 'pot therapy at brain camp'. And in the deliberate, meditative 'Breathe Deep John', a robot turns into a human but feels like a mirage: 'Everybody wants to see the monster,' Power hums. 'So everyone's out getting wrecked.' Those kinds of inimitable reflections put Power's personality all over the music on Mind the Neighbors. But these tunes are not without precedent: his own obsessions with Brazilian music -- particularly Bossa nova -- as well as jazz (a form in which he's trained) and folk all flutter through his songs, and you can hear some remnants of '60s French pop careening around as well. But Power's been at this for almost 20 years, and any echoes you might hear in Mind the Neighbors are merely intriguing footnotes to the autobiography his music continues to write with precision and, yeah, power. You don't want to miss this chapter." --Marc Masters, 2020

An abundant EP of Charlotte de Witte, presenting four carefully crafted tunes, both for peak time and beyond. Title track "Vision" is on the prowl, baring its gnarly teeth only for flashes at a time. Even more menacing seems "Out of Balance", a haunting tempest forming and ready to break loose at any moment. Kangding Ray surprises on the flip, his tribal stomping remix drawing a whirling vortex, breaking into realms of celestial and colorful trance. Unthoughtful reveals de Witte's emotive side, the cinematic stepper perfectly closing out her first release for Figure.

BRYANT, TRACY Hush CD
Tracy Bryant first gained recognition in 2011 as founder and frontman of Los Angeles group, Corners. The band became a staple of the underground L.A. music scene with their highly regarded live shows and three well-received releases. Bryant decided to end the band in early 2016 to fully focus on his solo endeavors. His first full-length solo album, Subterranean, was released in early 2016 on Burger Records. 2017 saw the release of Bryant's sophomore album A Place For Nothing And Everything in its Place, revealing a wider spectrum and depth in Bryant's songwriting. Hush, Tracy Bryant's third studio album, was recorded over the course of six months in the mountains of Topanga Canyon, California. Produced by Kyle Mullarky (The Growlers, Allah Las) and partly written in collaboration with his wife Kimberly Fitzner, the album is a dynamic and transforming journey from beginning to end. Hush is lyrically forward, conversational and calm, but with an unforgiving and forward voice that doesn't shy away from naming the struggles and graces which come upon all whom pursue a creative life. The soaring melodies of Hush are a breath of fresh air combined with an authentic lyrical perspective which approaches the sometimes taboo music industry and the characters which inhabit it. Bryant's most elaborate production yet is realized by the immaculate drumming and percussion of Nick Murray (Cate Le Bon, White Fence), precision bass by Brian Allen (Burnt Ones), and Kyle Mullarky. Guitars and piano are all played by Bryant himself. The album is mastered by world-renowned engineer Dave Cooley (Blood Orange, Ariel Pink, Animal Collective). Bryant's songs "The Background Singer" and "Start The Motor" were featured in season three of the Network CW television series Riverdale. The Corners song "We're Changing" was featured as one of the few original songs in the blockbuster M. Night Shyamalan film Glass (2019). The song "Hey Spaceman!" was used in the season finale of the TBS show People Of Earth. The title track off of his first album Subterranean is featured in the Volcom surf film Psychic Migrations (2015). "Subterranean" was also featured in the Transworld Skateboarding film Substance.

DEAD PREZ Lets Get Free 2LP
2020 repress. "dead prez may have been slightly ahead of their time during their golden years, but that is definitely meant as a compliment. Sermonizing Black Nationalism, Pan-Africanism and the benefits of a healthy and just lifestyle during the height of the Bad Boy / Roc-AFella era of nihilistic excess in the late '90s, they also signed to a major label (Loud / Columbia) despite leaning much more towards the burgeoning indie aesthetics of the day. But this was a good thing -- using major label muscle to wake up righteous hip-hop fans who might have fallen asleep at the wheel. The group itself -- consisting of MCs stic.man and M-1, who produced or co-produced most of the duo's music -- was formed in Tallahassee, Florida in the early 1990s (M-1 originally hailed from Brooklyn). By later that decade, the duo had started making significant waves, having their music heard on the soundtracks to Soul In The Hole and Slam, as well as appearing on albums by Big Pun and The Beatnuts. By 1998, they released their first official single, the serious, stark 'Police State,' on Loud, appropriately brought to the label by Lord Jamar of Brand Nubian. After building a solid rep over the next two years with fiery live performances, in 2000 they unleashed their debut album, Let's Get Free. The album was a welcome return to provocative and often radically political rhetoric that hearkened back to hip-hop forebears including The Coup, Public Enemy and KRS-One (as well as poetic descendants like the Last Poets and Watts Prophets). Let's Get Free was critically acclaimed and benefited from multiple singles, including the infectious, thick analog drive of 'Hip-Hop' (which became the de facto theme song for 'Chappelle's Show'); 'It's Bigger Than Hip-Hop,' with a remix co-produced by a young Kanye West; 'Mind Sex' (with Abiodun Oyewole of the Last Poets); and the poignant 'I'm An African.' But the singles weren't the only worthy songs, as just about every cut here has deeper meaning than most full albums by their early 2000s peers. Highlights: the thought-provoking, anti-drug album opener 'Wolves'; 'We Want Freedom' (co-produced by frequent collaborator Hedrush); 'They Schools' and 'Propaganda' (co-produced by Lord Jamar, one of five songs he assisted on). All in all, this is one of the more underrated and possibly Top 5 fully-realized political hip-hop albums of all time. If you don't agree with the previous sentence, give Let's Get Free another listen... you might be surprised at how well it has held up over the years."

UGK Dirty Money 2LP
"Pressed on money colored vinyl. After the release of UGK's third studio album, the wildly influential, and critically acclaimed Southern hip-hop classic Ridin' Dirty, the duo of rapper Bun B and rapper/producer Pimp C took a five-year hiatus from releasing albums. This is not to say that the pair didn't keep busy during their time away from putting out records; if anything, some of their highest profile appearances occurred during this period. Through guest slots on now iconic tracks like Three Six Mafia's 'Sippin' On Some Syrup', and Jay-Z's Billboard smash 'Big Pimpin'' UGK managed to greatly increase their profile, and build even greater anticipation for a fourth studio album. This album, titled Dirty Money, would arrive in November of 2001, after having been shelved by their label Jive Records since 1998. Across 14 tracks of syrup-soaked, drawling Southern hip-hop tracks, UGK stretched their creative chops and showed that in the five years since Ridin' Dirty they hadn't lost their step in the slightest. Bun B's and Pimp C's rhymes were free-wheeling, clever, and irreverent as they had ever been, while the production was classic Texas rap, courtesy of Pimp C and Southern hip-hop legend N.O. Joe, who shared production duties. Guest contributions from Juicy J & DJ Paul of Three Six Mafia, Big Gipp of Goodie Mob, Too $hort, Devin The Dude, and more helped bolster the duo's codeine-drenched witticisms, over samples from the likes of BB King, Barry White, and The Staple Singers among others. Riding on UGK's newfound mainstream fortunes, Dirty Money managed a remarkable #19 debut on the Billboard 200 chart, as well as reaching #2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. In spite of this, Jive failed to capitalize on the attention the duo was receiving; with a lack of promotion and marketing behind it the record left just as quickly as it had arrived. We at Get On Down haven't forgotten this album's greatness though; we now present to you this color vinyl reissue of Dirty Money, an under-appreciated and oft-forgotten relic of Southern hip-hop, one that has never before been committed to wax."

DJ T. Dis 12"
For the first time on vinyl, Get Physical serve up a much-loved DJ T. tune along with classic remixes from Solomun and Kink and a new one from Roland Leesker. The original first came out in 2009 but remains a staple underground tune. "Dis" is built on a jittery vocal loop that gets the listener on edge, while big claps and tribal drums eventually drop to make sure the floor explodes. Bulgarian techno wizard, live maestro and generally raucous groove maker KiNK is behind an excellent remix which goes for Detroit-styled, hi-tech/soulfully enriched sounds with glistening synths and futuristic atmospheres. Diynamic label boss and global house icon Solomun then flips the original into a real party starter, with chopped chords, icy hi-hats, and old school energy that is colorful and playful in equal measure. New to the package is a Roland Leesker "Acid Strings Edit" from Get Physical's always-on-point creative director. His deep, driving, late night version is perfect for waking things up, with busy 303 and splashes of hi-hat all demanding attention.

Split release between ELEH and NYZ (David Burraston). Released alongside a full-length from NYZ via Important Records (IMPREC 453LP). ELEH: This side is possibly the artist's most complicated electronic composition. It navigates myriad timbral, tuning, and temporal processes while winding itself to completion. It was composed/constructed over a period of months in early 2019. NYZ: Two crunchy microtonal drone meditations in mono, using techniques of digital FM and hybrid analog/digital modular synthesis. "FM60P::fbk1#03" is from a number of sessions recorded on a battered SY99 recorded from 2013 to 2014. As the name suggests, this particular session revolved around using feedback in the FM algorithm. "EML DRNPi" was recorded as part of the 2015 Plum Island Sessions where Burraton had a host of synths on loan from John Brien at Important Records. For the recording, he used the EML ElectroComp 101 and a 4-voice digital microtonal oscillator running a Lambdoma Matrix to make a hybrid analog/digital system. ORGANISATION Tone Float LP
Inner Space present a reissue of Organisation's Tone Float, originally released in 1970. German rock band, Organisation, is often referred to as the prototype or predecessor of Kraftwerk -- the godfathers of electronic music. In fact, it was the first iteration of Kraftwerk and if the band had managed to overrule its record label, RCA, Tone Float would have been credited as such. But given that the album was to be released only in the United Kingdom, the label opted for the more Anglicized name, "Organisation". Tone Float is the only album produced under this name and is a seminal example of the genre. Audiences in West Germany were fortunate enough to watch and listen to the whole album, played live for German television station, EDF, and it is this broadcast featured here. The bonus track "Vor Dem Blauen Bock" (more accurately, "Rückstoß Gondoliere"), is a notable rarity in that it includes a later Organisation line-up consisting of Kraftwerk's Florian Schneider and Klaus Dinger, and Michael Rother who would go on to form the band, Neu! Personnel: Ralf Hutter - organ; Basil Hammoudi - glockenspiel, conga gong, musical box, bangos-voice; Florian Scheider-Esleben - electric flute, alto flute, bell, triangle, tambourine, electro-violin; Butch Hauf - bass, shaky tube, small bells, plastic hammer; Fred Monicks - drums, bongos, maracas, cowbell, tambourine. His informed understanding of jazz, R&B, and in fact, most music styles would always add another layer to any song put his way. This made him the go-to guy for most of the Jamaican producers, who would use his arrangement skills to pepper up their latest tunes. Tommy McCook, (b1927, Havana, Cuba) came to Jamaica with his mother from Cuba aged 11 and entered renowned Alpha Boys School for underprivileged children, a school that placed great emphasis on musical tuition. At 14, such was his talent he has left to join Eric Deans Orchestra and took on stints with other bands led by Don Hinchman and Roy Coburn. All the bands played in the swing and Jazz style of the times. He relocated to the Bahamas in 1954 where he further developed his jazz technique and, upon his return to Jamaica in 1962, began working Coxsone Dodd's Studio One and became involved in the development of ska. His knowledge of jazz, R&B and Jamaican musical forms helped set the tone for the group of musicians he was working with and would name the Skatalites. The group, consisting of Don Drummond (trombone), Roland Alphonso (tenor saxophone), Jackie Mitoo (piano), Lloyd Brevett (bass), Lloyd Knibbs (drums), alongside Tommy himself on tenor saxophone. The group would back all the major ska vocalists of the day and would also go on to cut a catalog of instrumental music. The Skatalites split up in 1965 and Tommy McCook moved over to work with Duke Reid's Treasure Isle Studios where he formed The Supersonics. A set of musicians under his guidance that consisted of Lynn Tait and Ernest Ranglin (guitar), Neville Hinds and Winston Wright (organ), Gladstone "Gladdy" Anderson (piano), Hugh Malcolm and Arkland "Drumbago" Parks (drums), Clifton "Jackie" Jackson (bass), and Tommy and Hernon Marquis (saxophone). The more laidback sounds from 1966-1968 would be given the name rocksteady of which, again, McCook was at the forefront. Top producers like Bunny Lee would use the musicianship of Tommy McCook and his arrangement skills to enhance this new sound. A WINGED VICTORY FOR THE SULLEN A Winged Victory For The Sullen LP
2020 repress. LP version. "A Winged Victory for the Sullen is the first installment of the new collaboration between Stars of the Lid member Adam Wiltzie and composer Dustin O'Halloran. The duo agreed to leave their normal home studio comfort zone and develop the recordings with the help of large acoustic spaces, and to hunt down a selection of 9ft grand pianos that had the ability to deliver extreme sonic low end. Other traditional instrumentation was used including string quartet, French horn, and bassoon, but always juxtaposed is the sound of drifting guitar washed melodies. The recordings began in one late night session in the famed Grunewald Church in West Berlin on a 1950s imperial Boesendorfer piano and strings were added in the historic East Berlin DDR radio studios along the River Spree. One last final session in a private studio deep in the northern cusp of Italy on a handmade Fazioli piano, and the final mixes took place in a 17th century villa near Ferrara, Italy, with the assistance of Francesco Donadello. All songs were processed completely analogue straight to magnetic tape. Their secret to harvesting new melodic structures from the thin air of existence was for the duo to push themselves to live dangerously, realizing that clear thinking at the wrong moment could stifle the compositions. The final result is seven landscapes of harmonic replicating ingemination. In 'Requiem for the Static King Part 1' (created in memory of the untimely passing of Mark Linkous) they have taken the age old idea of a string quartet and then shot it out a cannon to reveal exquisite new levels of mellow bliss. Of the 13 minute track 'Symphony Pathetique,' Wiltzie says 'after almost 20 years of struggling to create interesting ambient drone music, I feel like I have finally figured out what I am doing.' Notable guest musicians include Icelandic cellist Hildur Gudnadottir, and violinist Peter Broderick. A Winged Victory for the Sullen is not a side project. A WINGED VICTORY FOR THE SULLEN Atomos 2LP
2020 repress. Gatefold double LP version. "After releasing a first glimpse in the form of the Atomos VII EP earlier this year (2014), A Winged Victory For The Sullen reveal their second full-length album entitled Atomos which sees the duo introduce flurries of electronics, harp and modular synthesizers to their sound in the follow-up to the 2011 self- titled album. In 2013 AWVFTS caught the ear of Wayne McGregor, founder of Random Dance Company and resident choreographer at the Royal Ballet, who is perhaps best known for his choreography work on the Radiohead video 'Lotus Flower' as well as 'Ingenue' by Atoms For Peace. McGregor used the debut album as the warm-up music during practice sessions for Random, and after noticing the group's reaction with the music, he contacted Adam and Dustin to see if they would write the score for his new work. Given complete artistic freedom, the duo treated the score with the same care and attention as their debut full-length by recording more than sixty minutes of music over a four-month period across studios in Brussels, Berlin and Reykjavik with the help of their long time collaborative sound engineer Francesco Donadello. During the process they came to the realization that this would become their of?cial second studio album. McGregor provided them with the inspiration to expand their sound palette into more electronic territory, whilst keeping their signature chamber sound, resulting in a very unique release."

PENTANGLE Live On Air 1967-1969 2CD
London Calling presents Pentangle's Live On Air 1967-1969, including performances from the Danny Thompson Trio with John McLaughlin. The high profile names of John Renbourn and Bert Jansch remain coveted enough to warrant excitement at any retrospective release, but combined with Danny Thompson and Jacqui McShee, this is a delightful insight into one of Britain's finest folk-rock bands to emerge in the late '60s. Pentangle's legacy lies in an abundance of fragile, acoustic wonder spanning six albums with Transatlantic and Reprise Records from 1968 to 1972. Among studio, television and festival appearances, Pentangle visited venues such as the Playhouse Theatre and Paris Theatre for the BBC. These pristine sessions reveal a valuable insight into the creative mindset directing the band in their heyday. Prominently featured here are the only known recordings of Danny Thompson with John McLaughlin and Tony Roberts from 1967, music that would provide a vital bridge to the formation of Pentangle. Digitally remastered, includes a Brian Matthew interview with Jacqui McShee from 1970 and a full color booklet with liner notes and rare images.

ANDREWS AND THE FELLOWSHIP, REGGIE Mystic Beauty LP
Limited 2020 repress. Mad About Records present a reissue of Reggie Andrews and The Fellowship's Mystic Beauty, originally released in 1969. '60s jazz holy grail LP out of California -- a mythical album on many jazz collector's want-lists. This LP is on the extremely limited and sought-after private press label HME. It has deep Latin, Afro/Cuban-influences, and consists primarily of acoustic jazz pieces. Influences also range from the cerebral to the soulful, but it defies any one-dimensional tag like "spiritual jazz" or "soul-jazz" or "jazz-funk." Heralding from LA and led by pianist Reggie Andrews, it doesn't sound particularly "west coast". It's a beautiful session all around, really something special and profound. In recent years, Reggie Andrews has taught, mentored, and produced many talented musicians including Patrice Rushen, Terrace Martin, Ndugu Chancler, and the Dazz Band who wrote "Let It Whip", along with his close friend Leon Ndugu Chancler. He is the founder of the jazz-fusion group Karma. He worked with Earth, Wind & Fire, produced Moacir Santos for Blue Note Records, served as an "electronics consultant" for Donald Byrd, and took to mentoring The Pharcyde and J Dilla. 180 gram vinyl; Heavy cardboard sleeve with obi.

VA Sai Ying Pun EP 12"
For its first compilation, Mamie's Records is proud to introduce Sai Yin Pun EP, focusing on the Hong Kong house activists with three tracks from Reba, Romain FX, and Sanpé. The history of Sai Ying Pun began long ago in the mid-19th century when the British military first landed and set up their camps in the area before the colonial era, which in turn boosted the development of the neighborhood; the name Sai Ying Pun literally means "western camps." The first track is a heavy hitter from Reba that takes a very UK/dancehall approach with dry drum machine sounds and a catchy repeated vocal throughout the track, a dance floor killer guaranteed. The second track is a jumping dance floor hit guaranteed with a more groovy house track from Romain FX, incorporating chops throughout with deep bass line breaks and dreamy house chords to get lifted into the air. And finally, to close off the EP, Sanpé has a very minimal gloomy approach, keeping the deep house vibes with subtle touches of raw goodness throughout.

This brought them to the attention of UK audiences and began a relationship with UK indie label Sarah Records. DESTINY, BOB Wang Dang/Mahna (Troubles) 7"
Raw and wild soul-funk-R&B-garage from 1970, recorded and released only in Algeria. Imagine James Brown fronting The Sonics. Born in Puerto Rico, Bob Destiny grew up in Harlem (USA) and has a fascinating story: from starting playing piano as a child (self-taught) and tap dancing with the Five Chocolate Drops when he was six years old, to meeting Billie Holliday and playing with her; from appearing in a film with Shirley Temple to musicals in Broadway, dancing in Mankiewicz's movie Cleopatra (1963), singing at the San Remo Festival... In 1969, Bob went to Algeria to teach music at the Algerian National Theater. He also continued with his singing career while living there. In 1970, he released a couple of 45s featuring "Wang Dang" and "Mahna (Troubles)" on the Freedom Musique label. He was also involved with the creation of the first Pan African Festival with Mahboud Bati and Frank Pourcel. These 45s are very rare and were first discovered by the great Habibi Funk label a few years ago, who included "Wang Dang" on one of their compilations. For this Pharaway Sounds 45, the label has selected one track from his first 45 and another from his second one, After playing in Morocco with Hahmed Maraki and forming bands like The Fingers, Bob arrived to Spain in the '80s. He created a jazz school in Zaragoza and was involved with the famous "Jazz en la Margen" festival. In the '90s, Bob moved to France, focusing in composition, gospel, musicals, and soundtracks. Sadly, he passed away on March 31, 2016. File under: soul, funk, garage. Insert with liner notes and photos.

MOSER, RUDOLPH Metronia LP
Rudolph Moser (also known as Rudolf Moser), the "instrument maker and composer, musician and sound artist has provided many great projects with sound design and music" but is known best as the "drummer" of the Einstürzende Neubauten, is now releasing his second official solo album called Metronia on the band's own Potomak label. In 17 tracks, Moser opens the doors to the private collection of his research and work. The music changes in its multifaceted nature from minimalistic motifs, wide sound plateaus to tribal percussion pieces, to the "total wall" and islands of intimate moments and songs. Whether with marble plate, plastic pipes, sheet metal, steel springs, prepared car tires, rotor core of an aircraft turbine, large stone saw blade, timpani, or the reverberation of a steel ball weighing 20 kilos in an empty underground car park... Rudolph Moser knows how to extract a unique, magical sound from every seemingly non-musical object. This gives his music an absolutely personal and independent signature. Every time you listen, you discover new impulses and new levels. The album becomes an imaginary soundtrack and an individual sound cosmos. For some titles, Moser leaves the instrumental level for the first time and adds his vocals to the music. "Heaven" and "Euphobia" show that Moser can also write songs that give the album another color. Particularly surprising in this context is the piece "Cause You", a kind of duet in which Toni Kater suddenly appears and hits the soul with her wonderful and fine singing.

HACKEDEPICCIOTTO The Current LP
LP version. The Current is the fourth album Alexander Hacke and Danielle De Picciotto have recorded under their hackedepicciotto moniker recorded since becoming nomads in 2010. It is their most powerful album yet. After composing desert drones for their previous album Perseverantia (POTOMAK 125171, 2016) and dark foreboding melodies for Menetekel (POTOMAK 150841/150842), their new album moves forwards, gaining in speed and energy. Alexander Hacke's background with Einstürzende Neubauten can be felt in the many rhythmic tracks. "We had the urge to include more percussive elements and electronic sounds to create a powerful rhythmic feel. A wilder and more danceable element. Something to get all of us on our feet, and moving. Away from depression and hopelessness." The classic background of Danielle de Picciotto has become more prominent as well. Glorious choirs and violin harmonies flow throughout the album giving it an almost symphonic sound. The artist couple calls their music "cinematic-drone" and their album sounds like the film track to an apocalyptic feature-length film, hopefully with a happy end.

LEVEE CAMP MOAN Levee Camp Moan LP
Sommor Records present the first legitimate reissue one of the rarest private blues-rock albums from the UK, Levee Camp Moan's self-titled release, originally released in 1969. In 1969, Bracknell-based blues rock outfit Levee Camp Moan released what was destined to become one of the most sought-after UK private pressings of the period on the County Recording Services label. This LP marked their status as one of the most exciting bands to emerge out of the thriving local underground scene in the Bracknell Delta. The group had taken their name from the old blues number and the band members, manager and assorted roadies took up residence in a local farmhouse known as Peacock Farm. It was there that LCM would rehearse into the small hours, thumping out a mixture of blues standards as well as their own compositions until they had become a tight unit ready to "take on the world". Influences ranged from the urban blues of Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, and Junior Wells to Muddy Waters, Skip James, and beyond. The more or less contemporary white blues of the time, Canned Heat, Savoy Brown, and Paul Butterfield also served as a major source of inspiration. From their humble roots LCM quickly built up a following on the British Blues circuit, frequenting the likes of the Marquee, Crawdaddy, Klooks Kleek, Eel Pie Island, and Rikki Tik club. On the college circuit they toured extensively with Chickenshack, Canned Heat, and Muddy Waters with performances being of a high enough standard to generate record company interest. Unable to secure a record deal, they had no other choice but to do it themselves. And so, in the winter months of early '69 that LCM entered Virgin Sound in nearby Windsor to lay down eight tracks recorded on a four-track machine. With no record company interference, the archetypal private pressing, raw, under-produced, and thrillingly primitive. The project successfully captured the spirit and aggression of an exciting new band and the original artefact is now a zeitgeist of that remarkable era. After Levee Camp Moan, Ian Campbell went on to carve out a busy musical career performing with, amongst many others, the Nashville Teens, Arthur Brown's band and Mungo Jerry. Bassist Dave Stubbs played with a host of notables, including Eric Clapton's band and Uli Jon Roth (ex-Scorpions). Original artwork. Includes insert with rare photos and full band history by Pete Sarfas.

STARR, BRION Rope Memories LP
Brion Starr is a musician based in New York City. Starr's debut album, Global Identity (TAXI 002LP, 2019) was released in early 2019. The album was recorded at Konk Studios (home of The Kinks) in London with a cadre of international musicians including Robbie Wood (Swim Deep, Lida Fox, and Matthew McAuley (ARE Weapons). This is the sister album, Rope Memories, the diary of a highly successful advertising agent who is at the end of earth's life cycle and has to choose to stay on a fated earth or take all of their money earned to buy seats on a shuttle to an exclusive colony in space. The album is to be understood as a concept and varies between highly-developed art rock songs with moments of glam spectacle and punk brevity alternating with slower instrumental ambient songs reminiscent of early ambient pioneers which are meant to represent various stages of space travel. Edition of 300, printed inner sleeve.

CHASSOL Ludi CD
Christophe Chassol is reshuffling the deck. After making his name known worldwide with three magnificent Ultrascores compositions -- Nola Che?rie in 2011, Indiamore in 2013, and Big Sun in 2015 -- working with Solange and Frank Ocean, and playing the most prestigious halls. He's taking his quest to arrange reality even further with Ludi, his new project that includes an album, film, and show. It's play -- an all-important word in music -- that underscores this impressive, masterful construction freely inspired by Hermann Hesse's The Glass Bead Game (1931). Everything is part of the melody: a playground or basketball players in the suburbs, an arcade in Tokyo, a roller coaster, singer Crystal Kay and rapper Kohh. Solo musicians were filmed in rehearsal, like flautist Jocelyn Mienniel and the composer's partner, drummer Mathieu Edward, who managed to reprise on stage. Chassol drew from the great German author's utopic book, where music, mathematics, aesthetics, and spirituality intermingle, to create a passionate work produced by Bertrand Burgalat's label Tricatel that once again justifies his special place in the musical landscape. With Ludi, Chassol directs his own round of Hermann Hesse's game, taking on the title of Magister Ludi, master of The Glass Bead Game. With this double-album, Chassol realizes his ambition: to compose unprecedented music that fills us with joy and prompts reflection. CD version includes 24p booklet and movie download code.

YOUNG GODS, THE Super Ready / Fragmente 2LP
The Young Gods' 2007 album, Super Ready / Fragmenté is finally released on vinyl. The twelve compositions of Super Ready / Fragmenté are of a pure sonic power. From the nasty rock song "I'm The Drug" or "Freeze", to the abstract "C'est quoi c'est ça", the playful "El Magnifico", the psychedelic and moving "Stay With Us", "Super Ready / Fragmenté" (nine minutes of sound journey and pivotal track on the album), The Young Gods have delivered a great album inhabited by Franz Treichler's clearer, warmer and more powerful voice. That being said, words are, as always, of paramount importance to the Gods. With the political and poetic "About Time", the group rises up against fear as a market value. Fear is a very current signature of today's world, recalls Franz Treichler. How many politicians get elected by selling fear by the kilo? Or describes, in detail, the relationship between the couple and the imaginary "Everythere". Super Ready / Fragmenté is one of those major albums that, behind a palpable sense of urgency and insecurity, is revealed and discovered through poisonous, disturbing and passionate listening. OESTERHELT, CARL Eleven Pieces for Synthesizer LP
Umor Rex presents Eleven Pieces for Synthesizer, a collection of synth instrumentals by German composer Carl Oesterhelt. Oesterhelt has been recording a mixture of straddling kosmische and classical traditions for years on his own reel tape machine, overdubbing stacks of analog gear to create a compelling body of work that brings fresh emotional depth and rhythmic experimentation to the syntax of the modern synthesizer. Born in Munich in 1968, Carl Oesterhelt has worked in a variety of fields throughout a long and impressive career. His discography includes tenures with Neue Deutsche Welle legends FSK, intellectual disco outfit Merricks, and German legends The Notwist. His solo work has travelled even further and wider, taking in contemporary classical and chamber music, music for exhibitions and radio plays, not to mention notable collaborations with saxophonist Johannes Enders and legendary founding member of Faust, Hans Joachim Irmler. Oesterhelt augments his own analog arsenal with synthesizers borrowed from musician friends, resulting in almost fifteen different synthesizers -- some in fruitful states of disrepair -- which feature on the album. Opener "La Chapelle de Francis Lai" pays tribute to the French film composer with a synthesized church organ procession, disintegrating kraut-funk-noir which emerges on "Poro Secret Society". Then, eerie sound effects mash with minimal techno rhythms on "Makonde Pattern", and -- most surprisingly -- Oesterhelt turns his keys into a sub-Saharan drum ceremony on "Trinidad Pattern". The sheer range of Eleven Pieces for Synthesizer is an impressive achievement unto itself. Yet it is Oesterhelt's instincts as a composer which make these (largely improvised) recordings so compelling. Tensions build and emotions stir throughout each piece with a proficiency perfected through his work for the stage. Musically associates, and directly connected to a heritage of German electronics, Eleven Pieces for Synthesizer touches upon similar ground to the likes of Musik von Harmonia (1974) in its pulsations, Klaus Schulze's sonically adventurous Cyborg (1973), and Tangerine Dream at their earliest and most primitive. The hypnotic ritualism of early African field recordings, or the spiritual regality of European organ music also convey key reference points in the formulation of this collection. Oesterhe's compositions here have taken the musically primitive and the emotionally raw, and woven them into a rich synthetic sound world all of his own.

SOL OOSEL En allegeance a l'inconnaissable -- Une etude en choregraphie pour le flux d'energie LP
Sol Oosel presents an album with a complex mixture of tones and structures, striking a close relation between a sort of devotional music and a trancelike state. Beyond his own specific exploration of the possibilities of electronic modular synthesis, Sol Oosel searches for hacks in different states of consciousness by way of sound. En allégeance à l'inconnaissable - Une étude en chorégraphie pour le flux d'énergie is meant as a musical aid for visualizing the ability to dance with and manipulate attainable flows of energy. Largely produced using modular synthesizers and the Roland SH-09, Sol Oosel stretches beyond the fields of ambient music, adding a special sense of drama to this psychoactive journey. Each song is built around solid structures and infused with a mystical atmosphere. Harmonically, this album is close to Hans-Joachim Roedelius' early works; it is emotionally positive, informed by pop nuances that are rarely found in this type of ambient music. Sol Oosel also owes to the works of Klaus Schulze; however, while Schulze was concerned with space and made music of the unknown but conceivable cosmos in his mind, Sol Oosel is more interested in Earth and the force that weighs us down in this complex physical reality. His music speculates on the relationships between inner and outer worlds. En allégeance à l'inconnaissable... is a soundscape and a choreographic exercise for relaxation, intentionally disrupted by "Here (Au Bord De L'Univers)", a deconstructive piece covered in multiple layers of repetition, progressive beats, and kosmische pulsation which detours from the flow. In a way, it represents the bridge between all these cosmic and earthly energies. This is Sol Oosel's debut on Umor Rex. He previously self-released the album Janus, and was member of several bands and projects before focusing in Sol Oosel. He lives in the rural village of Tepoztlán, México, where he works as an artist, performer, sculptor, sonic landscaper, and dancer.

2020 repress. We Release Whatever The Fuck We Want Records present the ?rst ever official vinyl pressing of the soundtrack for Mamoru Oshii's critically acclaimed and all around legendary science ?ction anime ?lm Ghost In The Shell (1995), adapted from Masamune Shirow's groundbreaking manga series of the same name. The haunting score is composed by Kenji Kawai, one of Japan's most celebrated soundtrack composers alongside Joe Hisaishi and Ryuichi Sakamoto, whose work includes Hideo Nakata's Ring (1998) and Ring 2 (1999), Death Note (2006), Hong Kong ?lms Seven Swords by Tsui Hark (2005) and Ip Man by Wilson Yip (2008), and countless others. INOYAMALAND Danzindan-Pojidon LP
WRWTFWW Records present the much-anticipated official reissue of Japanese duo Inoyamaland's quintessential ambient/environmental/electronic album Danzindan-Pojidon, produced by Haruomi Hosono and originally released in 1983 on his Yen Records label. Available outside of Japan for the first time, the new age classic comes as a limited LP with liner notes by band member Makoto Inoue. With Danzindan-Pojidon, Yasushi Yamashita and Makoto Inoue created what they describe as "a special place where the kingdom of summer vacation never ended." Playful and magical, it's a sonic landscape defined by tinkling synths, floating minimalist melodies, pastoral excursions, and mythical overtones. The ten-track adventure takes the listener on a joyful audio exploration of unknown but friendly territories, like childhood memories of an imaginary island where everything is vibrantly alive and peaceful. The original recording sessions for the album took place in an apartment filled with Inoyamaland's "favorite things and friends" and the wonders that came out of them were handed to master Harry Hosono who added his undeniable genius touch. And thus Danzindan-Pojidon was born, an absolute must-have, sitting in the pantheon of all-time '80s Japanese ambient greats alongside Midori Takada's Through The Looking Glass (WRWTFWW 018LP/019CD/019LP), Hiroshi Yoshimura's Green, and Satoshi Ashikawa's Still Way (WRWTFWW 030CD/LP) -- and holding that mysterious power of "music that makes life a little easier and happier." 350gsm sleeve with selected UV high gloss varnish.

MASTER MUSICIANS OF JAJOUKA FEAT. BACHIR ATTAR, THE Apocalypse Across The Sky 2LP
Zehra present a reissue of Apocalypse Across The Sky by The Master Musicians of Jajouka featuring Bachir Attar, originally released in 1992. Available on vinyl for the very first time. Produced by Bill Laswell, remastered for vinyl by Helmut Erler at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin. No matter if you consider the Master Musicians of Jajouka a "4,000 year-old rock n' roll band" (William S. Burroughs) or even "6,000 years old" (Ornette Coleman) -- without doubt, the music of the ensemble in all its incarnations over the centuries is deeply rooted in Sufi mysticism, paganism, and the cult of the goat-god Boujeloud. According to a myth, many centuries ago Boujeloud appeared to a shepherd called Attar, an ancestor of today's ensemble leader Bachir Attar, and till today every year at the end of Ramadan a fire in honor of the goat-god is ignited. This pagan root aside, the music performed in several hour long rituals on traditional instruments like tebel and tariyya (drums), ghaita (a woodwind instrument), lira (flute), and gimbri (stringed instrument) reveals hypnotic, trance-inducing qualities and is considered to have magical and healing properties. In the 1950s, Brion Gysin along with Paul Bowles were among the first westerners to witness such a ceremony, and it was Gysin who invited the Master Musicians of Jajouka to play in his restaurant in Tangier, and who later (in 1967) brought Brian Jones to the small village of Jajouka where the Rolling Stones guitarist recorded the ensemble for what became the first "world music album" and that raised interest in the Master Musicians of Jajouka in the western world. Since those days, a wide number of creative minds like William S. Burroughs, Ornette Coleman, Marc Ribot, Flea, Talvin Singh, or the Rolling Stones have worked with the Master Musicians of Jajouka who are now performing regularly outside Morocco. In 1991, iconic producer Bill Laswell also embarked on a trip to the small village of just 800 inhabitants in the Rif mountains to record the group for his Axiom label -- Apocalypse Across The Sky is, unlike other Laswell projects that bring together different cultures and genres, a pure document of the ensemble, raw and unpolished but exquisitely recorded, and ranks among the essential recordings according to the world music magazine Songlines. 180 gram vinyl; gatefold sleeve; includes download code.
