GALBRAITH, ALASTAIR Seconds Mark III LP
Alastair Galbraith is considered nothing less than a genius around these parts. A New Zealand underground legend active since the '80s, his solo works have seen release on Siltbreeze, MIE, Emperor Jones, and Grapefruit Records while his own labels, Xpressway and Next Best Way, have released the likes of The Dead C and Damo Suzuki. His list of collaborators reads like a who's who of freeform musicianship: Peter Jefferies, Bruce Russell, Robert Scott (The Clean, Flying Nun), and Maxine Funke, to name but a few. Seconds Mark III is Galbraith's first solo album since Mass (2010) and is a collage of pensive, longing, and almost forgotten pieces stitched in his inimitable style. A thrilling addition to A Colourful Storm's ever-expansive catalog. 21-track LP with full-color printed sleeve.

HARMONIOUS THELONIOUS Plong CD
Harmonious Thelonious is the solo project of the Düsseldorf musician Stefan Schwander. His works combine American-influenced minimal music with African rhythms and European melodies. "I was busy experimenting with noisy rhythms when Bureau B asked me if I would like to release an album on their label. I was aiming for a more industrial sound; backwards cymbals, loops generated from non-musical sources such as slamming doors, and had the feeling that this would align nicely with Bureau B's own story." Stefan Schwander's new album Plong is something of a hybrid in the discography of Harmonious Thelonious, drawing on his existing strengths plus a sense of adventure in a mix of all his musical predilections. Dipping into the music, Middle Eastern elements can be heard on "Original Member Of A Wedding Band" and "Mumba", whilst tracks like "Höhlenmenschenmuziek" are characterized by more pronounced bass structures. Tuned down xylophones, evocative of ritual drums, sub bass, and electrifying basslines catalyze the idiosyncratic sound of Plong: hypnotic, danceable, irresistible. A powerful head of steam builds across the nine tracks, with subtle changes in harmony ("Geistertrio Booking") or unexpected cameos such as a new wave bassline on "Abu Synth" shaking things up before the album hurtles onward with renewed force. Take "Interpretation de Reve" as a case in point -- floating sequences and themes sweep ashore in wave after wave of melody; analogous to dreams which enter the subconscious in episodes, their apparent randomness gradually shifting into a correlative pattern. "Totentanz" closes the album in a homage to the Basle club of the same name, a place which played a decisive role in Schwander's musical socialization: "I was lucky enough to see bands like Liquid Liquid, Gun Club, Jonathan Richman, and a very young Aztec Camera there." Harmonious Thelonious comes off with an exceptional work in the genre of electronic music, successfully embracing the physical power of a club night soundtrack whilst exploring the dramatic depths of sonic worlds to create an intensive listening experience in total solitude.

VA Sowas Von Egal 2: German Synth Wave Underground 1981-1984 CD
Two years have passed since Bureau B released the first Sowas Von Egal compilation (BB 310CD/LP, 2018). With the musical movement or genre known as NDW celebrating its 40th anniversary, what better time than now to launch an ambitious successor to the first sampler. The beating heart of this endeavor is once again invigorated by the synchronous passions of bespoke Hamburg label Bureau B and the label's Damaged Goods nights where they present rare, obscure synth and wave discs from the early 1980s. It was clear from the outset that Sowas Von Egal 2 would need to scale similar heights of excellence as its predecessor, featuring carefully selected, sought-after, danceable tunes. Bureau B began by compiling a pool of potential tracks, a creative process of lively discussion in the spirit of "open-mindedness" which culminated in a list of priority targets. After research and rich encounters with input from musicians, friends, and acquaintances, Bureau B revised their target list several times over -- some artists simply could not be found, a few had actually passed away. There were also some who were determined not to revisit their own musical history and asked the label to leave out their songs. Some tracks are so rare that they do not even appear on YouTube. Bureau B have picked up the rights to release them. In contrast to the first volume, most of the acts on Sowas Von Egal 2 were only active in the early 1980s and have not released any records since then. The tape artists were particularly invested in the DIY ethic -- as is often apparent in their sound aesthetics and the unbridled energy which has lost none of its intensity today. Their art was seldom -- if ever -- tempered by commercial considerations or sales strategies. The photograph on the cover beautifully captures the paradoxical tensions which pervaded the atmosphere of the early Eighties: new beginnings, renewal, protest and self-empowerment on one side, frustration, hedonism, future anxiety, and destructive rage on the other. The DIY spirit ingrained in the music and attitude of the bands and artists gathered here is also brought into focus, whilst simultaneously establishing a connection to Hamburg. Mastering by Tom Morgenstern. Artwork by Biljana Tomic. Features Die Neue Weltmacht, Christian Kneisel, Silberstreif, Lieferschein, 4712, Plastiktanz, Rolf Jungklaus, Vono, Kleenex Aktiv, Conrad + Gregor Schnitzler, Partner Eins, Mark Montan, "In" Seit, Mittageisen, Die Synthetische Republik, and Casino Mariteam.

2020 restock. 15th volume in the BYG Actuel series; gatefold sleeve, 180 gram vinyl. "The first one of Braxton's two albums originally released in the BYG/Actuel series... this one was recorded at the Studio Saravah in Paris on September 10th, 1969 with the help of Leo Smith (trumpet), Leroy Jenkins (violin) and Steve McCall (drums)." From the Jazz Actuel boxset's liner notes: "Anthony Braxton's approach to music is a fantastic, almost alchemical fusion of elements, involving academic schemata, chess master logic, and a firm belief in humanist cosmogony... the magic of deep, intuitive jazz improvisation led Mr. Braxton into serious intercourse with the alto saxophone... he was conversant with the concepts and constructs of John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen a.o., yet the music's roots were equally evident as coming from an avant-jazz background... the blend was genuinely revolutionary..." -- Thurston Moore & Byron Coley.

LA BREICHE Le Rite CD
La Breiche ("the witch") features Yan Arexis (Stille Volk, Sus Scrofa, Coume Ouarnède, and Common Eider, King Eider), and Patrick Lafforgue (Stille Volk, Sus Scrofa, and Hantaoma). The two musicians are also the creators of the cult festival L'Homme Sauvage, held in Midi-Pyrenees each year. After their 2017 debut Le Mal Des Ardents (CSR 224CD), Le Rite opens a new door, with post-folk sounds close to post-rock, influenced by ancient music, with folk used in a modernist way. Dark, ambient, and yet mystical... deep with grandiose landscapes. The sound of La Breiche is situated at the crossroads of early music and dark ambient; ambient music, industrial music with a strong ritual dimension. Their electro-acoustic music is based on old instruments such as the hurdy-gurdy, mixed with analog synths, field recordings, and ritual objects, taking a mystified look at nature, archaic societies, rites, beliefs, lores, and animism. Presented in a stunning six-panel digipak with artwork by Dehn Sora. RIYL: Bark Psychosis, Sigur Rós, Wolves In The Throne Room, Hexvessel, Ulver, Rosa Crux.

WESTERN, CREED, SPYBEY W Ands CD
A posthumous collaboration between the late Phil Western (Download, Beehatch), Jesse Creed (The Passenger), and Mark Spybey (Download, Dead Voices On Air, Reformed Faction, Beehatch). Both Phil and Jesse shared a love for vintage analog synthesizers, such as the VCS3, and the music for W Ands was largely created using this equipment. In the spirit of how it was created, Spybey added improvised passages using his collection of homemade and ethnic instruments and then edited the pieces. Phil would often talk about being "taken away" by music. Both Jesse and Mark have labored to do this through their own music too, not as a means of escape but to transcend. This music strives to explore the desire to go beyond the ordinary everyday experience and to reach a place where the egos and the individual contributions of the players are largely inconsequential. A place where time doesn't really matter. A place of healing and invention. An album of expansive drones and analogue electronics, which will undoubtedly appeal to fans of Coil, Nurse With Wound, Zoviet France.

LLYN Y CWN Dinorwic CD
Llyn Y Cwn conveys atmosphere and environment through deep ambient sounds. The sound of nature re-establishing itself in the post-industrial wilderness of a former quarry. A phantasm of echoes reflecting the bleak majesty and poetic melancholy of the hinterland of North Wales. A hole within a void, a place defined by absence in a world of negative space. The backdrop for this cavernous soundtrack is Dinorwic slate quarry. The field recordings were taken in this vast subterranean environment where an exposed scar of rock is carved out of the mountainside on the western slope of Elidir Fawr in Snowdonia, North Wales. Standing alone in the quarry, which covers 700 acres up to a height of 600m, it isn't difficult to imagine work going on around you with the abandoned industrial landscape juxtaposed against the backdrop of the majestic Snowdonia skyline. Each track is named after an area of the quarry, descending ever deeper through each rock gallery, with their acoustically unique echoes and sounds. The landscape is in a state of constant flux with small avalanches of rock and spoil slate tumbling over itself -- it was such a landslide that led to the eventual demise of the quarry. The hydroelectric power station, built deep underground inside the mountain, can be heard rumbling away through the various air shafts dotted around the quarry, adding to the overall ominous feel of the pieces. File next to fellow Welshman Lustmord. Six-panel digipak photography by the artist.

VIRTUAL COMPANY Virtual Company CD
An in concert, Virtual Company performance from IST (on this occasion the duo of Simon H. Fell and Mark Wastell due to the snow-bound absence of Rhodri Davies) together with pre-recorded fragments of Derek Bailey and Will Gaines. IST's Virtual Company calls on "the powers of improvisation" (D. Bailey) to interface with the two musicians of IST with dozens of musical fragments drawn from both Bailey and Gaines performing solo. These are combined with sections of silence of unforeseeable length, and then combined with each other and the live musicians, all by means of random algorithms which will ensure that each performance will be both unpredictable and unrepeatable. IST, Derek, and Will performed together regularly in the latter half of the 1990s and early 2000s -- Derek curated various Company events in London, Marseille and New York which sometime featured this group exclusively and, on occasions, other musicians. The quintet concerts from Marseille in 1999 (although performed under the short-lived group name cavanoconner) were eventually released as a double-CD on Incus, Company In Marseille (Incus 44/45, 2001). To add to this crucial document, Confront Recordings released Klinker (2018), another double-CD set, recorded on a hot and steamy night in August 2000 at The Klinker in London and which featured the quartet of Bailey, Gaines, Fell, and Wastell. Recorded at Cafe OTO, Dalston, London on March 2nd, 2018; Personnel - Simon H. Fell - double bass; Mark Wastell - violoncello, percussion; Derek Bailey - (virtual) guitar; Will Gaines - (virtual) tapdance.

OXLEY, TONY Beaming CD
"Further on from a few phone conversations last week (graciously enabled in the first instance by the ever-generous Alan Skidmore) and the swift dispatch from Germany of the demo disc, I'm very excited to announce that Tony Oxley, one of the great forefathers of European improvised music, will be releasing a disc on Confront Recordings. I've played the demo about fifteen times in the last three days and it's absolutely incredible. Tony is 81 years old and as evidenced here, is still making exceptionally vital music. Anyone who appreciates the sound of his electro-acoustic works from the seventies and eighties will not be disappointed!" --Mark Wastell, December 13th, 2019.Recorded in Viersen, Germany on November 25th, 2019; Recorded, mixed, and edited by Karsten Lehl. VA Amarcord Nino Rota CD
Repressed; RIP Hal Willner. Corbett Vs. Dempsey present a reissue of Amarcord Nino Rota, a tribute album assembled by producer Hal Willner, originally released by Hannibal Records in 1981. If you think you know how to put a mix-tape together, take a lesson from Hal Willner, the absolute master. In 1981, Willner produced a landmark record of interpretations of music written by Nino Rota for the films of Federico Fellini. With ten tracks and as many different lineups, this record set the template for a series of brilliant tributes that Willner has made over the ensuing 35 years, covering the songbooks of Monk, Mingus, Weill, and Disney, with a mind-expanding range of performers from Eugene Chadbourne to Chuck D to Diamanda Galas to Peter Frampton. On Amarcord Nino Rota, Willner drew together an equally dazzling spectrum of musicians, compiling them into a perfect program that explores Rota's wonderful, sly, sexy oeuvre from contrasting and complementary perspectives. Pianist Jaki Byard sets the stage with the title track and ends things with "La Strada", and in his first appearance on record, guitarist Bill Frisell contributes a haunting solo acoustic version of "Juliet Of The Spirits". Soprano saxophonist Steve Lacy, who lived in Rome early in his international years, offers a take on Rota's "Roma" and vibraphonist Dave Samuels provides interludes and transitions in a couple of spots. On the other end of the size bracket, Muhal Richard Abrams arranges and conducts his band as part of "La Dolce Vita Suite", which ends with a rock group featuring Debbie Harry singing a wordless waltz. The Carla Bley Band presents a daunting, suitably hilarious version of "8 ½", with Gary Windo's ballistic tenor saxophone, a David Amram Quintet with Sharon Freeman on French horn plays "Satyricon", and in a surprise appearance, trumpeter Wynton Marsalis plays alongside his brother Branford, tenor saxophonist George Adams, pianist Kenny Barron, bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Wilbert Fletcher, in William Fischer's arrangement of a medley of Rota chestnuts. Long out-of-print on LP and only released on CD for a hot minute in the early nineties, Amarcord Nino Rota is a certifiable classic.

LUCIEN & THE KIMONO ORCHESTRA Piano Matinee LP
French synth-pop talent Lucien & The Kimono Orchestra unveils his new solo piano album, a journey into cinematic soundscapes. Alone at the piano, Lucien takes us on a very personal album in a deep and quiet reverie. With Piano Matinée, you spend a soft winter morning in his company, reminiscing about tender childhood memories. Between previously unreleased tracks and revisited Kimono Orchestra pieces, Piano Matinée concludes a trilogy of recordings which have barely been released, while paving the way for a wider future. Universal, sensitive, cinematographic, the piano language spoken here by Lucien opens you to his musical world in a light that is both more authentic and accessible. The album also tells us a personal story. That of a grandfather -- an exceptional pianist but forced to give up his career when the Second World War broke out -- who passed on to him a taste for music in his early childhood, before passing away. Many years later, Lucien came across old cassette recordings of his eldest son, soon afterwards having a disturbing dream in which he swore he had had a dialogue with him and decided to go his own way. The self-taught musician spent a whole year honing his piano skills before deciding to freeze his performance in the summer of 2019 at the legendary Steinway at the Studios Saint-Germain. Drawing freely on all his influences -- jazz, funk, classical, cinema -- Lucien's Piano Matinée is a special object, as intimate as it is melodious.

CRAZY DOBERMAN Hypnogogic Relapse And Other Penumbral Phenomena LP
"Penumbra, from the Latin paene (almost) and umbra (shadow), refers to the partially luminescent fringe of an opaque object, like the streetlight outlining the sole of a shoe hurtling towards your eye. Hypnagogic, from the Greek hupnos (sleep) and ag?gos (leading), refers to the drowsy state before sleep. Crazy Doberman here comprises seventeen players from the greater Europe of the Midwest. Basement glyphs. Who's on the lease? And what's under the rug. The owner pays them to keep away the beast of busco. They do spontaneity, welcoming simultaneity, montaged in post. TRANSCENDENCE ORCHESTRA, THE Feeling The Spirit CD
Not approved by the FDA "Like La Monte Young and The Incredible String Band stuck in an elevator." In the process of relocating to Den Bosch's Willem Twee Studios, The Transcendence Orchestra let love slip deftly out of its gate and reverberate around the walls of the studio's main hall, a high ceilinged former synagogue in the city's old town. Working intensively to capture its echoes, they coaxed it to appear in pipes and strings, directed it through resonant circuits and shepherded it round the room with beaters, horns, and rattles. Having returned home with the recordings, a purpose began to emerge. Through a process of extensive reconfiguration and testing it became clear that the love contained within could transform perception. Under the right circumstances, and accompanied by appropriate technology, it could serve as a map for navigating beginnings and endings. Like some distant mesmerizing chant or a psychedelic folk song, it could connect us and reassure us that we can pass through the boundaries and survive. Perhaps not intact but at least whole. Here is that map, love soaked diligently into its lines, ready to guide those at a loss or reassure those willing to explore.Written and produced by Anthony Child and Daniel Bean. CHRA SEAMONS LP
Chra is the artist moniker for Austrian Christina Nemec (Bray, Shampoo Boy). SEAMONS is the latest missive in her ongoing exploration of suffocating abstract audio. At once designed and falling apart SEAMONS is rough and crude, a stumbling and staggering electronic expedition where nothing presents itself explicit in intent. It's a tense obscure record that teases you into its peculiar vortex from its suggestive nature of exploring the enigma beyond its haunted facade. "VICIOUS WATER REGIMES" stutters along as an "ugly" mass of grey electronica. "CAST(O)RO" shines from light from the depths with its occasional foray into glistening tones. "COLONIA MARINA SERENELLA" is a dank squelching backdrop for a dark age. "CAST" twists tension with flickering electronics chaotic in their perpetual design of order confronting inevitable collapse. "LET SHARKS SLEEP" is not only a great title but a mind tickling adventure of descending/rising digital dance that builds in intensity with its relentless repetition. "WIDOW WALKS" gallops and creaks along a path veiled in whispers. "ENGE" lunges through time with an air of deep uncertainty. SEAMONS hovers on the outskirts, crawling out of the speakers with endless surprising turns, few of them comfortable. SEAMONS is progressive ambient, not the kind that makes you escape, but rather one you can't escape from. SEAMONS crawls into the very guts of sound to uncover and unravel the uneasy and unsettling underbelly within. Recorded and produced in Vienna, Waldviertel, Crete as well as on planes and in cemeteries, 2018-2019. Mastered by Russell Haswell, January 2020. Cut by Andreas Kauffelt at Schnittstelle, Berlin, February 2020. Artwork by Susi Klocker.

BELVER YIN Luz Bel LP
Efficient Space present a reissue of Bélver Yin's 1991 debut Luz Bel. Bélver Yin's soul mining odysseys have been unjustly overlooked for three decades. An anomaly in the Spanish alt-pop scene, their forlorn instrumentals and ethereal romanticism would have struck a chord in the British league of Felt, The Chameleons, Cocteau Twins, and Dif Juz, leaving their 1991 debut Luz Bel deserving of reappraisal. While coining their band name from a Jesús Ferrero novel and quoting Laozi philosophy on album sleeves, Bélver Yin create illuminating textures that unlock a wordless language of memory and adolescent emotion. Formed in Salamanca by self-taught musicians Pedro Ortega Sánchez and José María Martín, the guitar-bass duo spent two years crafting their divine interplay with interim drummers before submitting a demo to Noisex Music, their only attempt at label courting. The phone rang mere days later with owner and producer Bernar Marks (The Dust Sessions) offering to cut an album and the band ventured to Valencia with cloud-touching optimism soon after. Championed by local press, the release fell short of expectation, fueling the mythology of a vanished band known only to the initiated. Varying lineups would, however, continue to work in the shadows under Pedro's direction, recording two spatially arranged follow-ups at their own pace in 1996 and 2005. A glorious debut that undeniably set a high watermark, Luz Bel is finally available again, faithfully remastered by Mikey Young and featuring bilingual liner notes from John Gómez, the authoritative ear behind Outro Tempo. For its follow-up, Traveler (FTR 491LP), Joseph added splendid vocals to the mix. With Michael, Mr. Allred gives airing to his fine harmonium playing, alongside string majesty and vocals. Maybe on the next one he'll teach us how to fly. Michael is an album with a dreamy narrative core. Its loose tale deals with the idea of the Archangel Michael appearing during a spirit ritual, performed by the character Faulkner (something like Allred's alter-ego) in hopes of remembering the contours of heaven. But this concept only emerged after the music was recorded. Allred compares the process of divining narrative content form musical improvisation to 'throwing an inkblot on paper.' I can dig it. All of the instruments as acoustic -- harmonium, autoharp, singing bowls, dulcimer, bowed guitar -- and the overtones and interplay on surfaces here is unbelievably rich. And even though they're connected, the individual tunes flow from different head spaces. 'Ascent + Return' is long-tone meditation, conceived for harmonium, singing bowls & autoharp soon after Allred performed a Tony Conrad piece as part of the big MIT Conrad exhibit. 'Every Thing in the Dim Night' (a random quote from Whitman's Blades of Grass) lies midway between that and a string improvisation with Indian tonalities. 'O Death' follows the original Lloyd Chandler lyrics (originally entitled, 'A Conversation with Death'), before evolving into swells of drone and strum. And so on. Each piece different, but expanding the boundaries of the drone-based universe has created for this album. Joseph Allred's music is an always evolving, constantly astounding wonderment. His live shows are quite otherworldly, but we're sure you'll find his records equally transportational." --Byron Coley, 2020

HAYWARD VERSUS HARMERGEDDON Hayward Versus Harmergeddon LP
Continuing the relationship between God Unknown Records and Charles Hayward, the label announces this magical new collaboration between Charles and London based audio-visual duo, Harmergeddon. Driving drumming with electronics weaving through beautiful soundscapes. Charles Hayward is an English drummer and was a founding member of the experimental rock groups This Heat and Camberwell Now. He also played with Mal Dean's Amazing Band, Dolphin Logic, and gigged and recorded with Phil Manzanera in the group Quiet Sun project as well as a short stint with Gong. He was a session musician on The Raincoats' second album, Odyshape (1981), and on one occasion played drums for the anarchist punk band Crass. Since the late 1980s he has concentrated on solo projects and collaborations, including Massacre with Bill Laswell and Fred Frith. His first solo record, Survive the Gesture, was released in 1987. Since then, he has released ten more long players, and has been touring with the reformed This is not This Heat. Harmergeddon is Nathan Greywater and Polyphoniefae, Dungeness based a/v performance art duo formed in South London in the autumn of 2010. Their live show blends sound and light in a feedback loop using photophonics (sound carried on light beams), electro-magnetic fields, and consumer electronic junk, taking industrial from its scrap metal past to the electronic fallout of late capitalism with a basis in improvisation and psychedelia. The result verges on sensory overload. Since their inception they have played internationally in venues as diverse as a cave (Grobbia Artist Residency 2017, Italy), a forest (Ambiosonic 2016, France), a moving train (Resting Place, Platform-7 & Dawn Cole) and the legendary MS Stubnitz. They played Splice Festival 2018, streamed live to Montreal for Sight & Sound 2016 and Winnipeg for the Winnipeg Underground Film Festival 2017 (in collaboration with Guillaume Vallée). Hayward Versus Harmergeddon is collaborative encounter, a cooperative sonic wrestling match and the only winner is the listener, a right earful of sound and plenty more for the other one, too. 1, 2, check, 1, 2, testing, 1, 2, are you listening?

GUIDED BY VOICES Mirrored Aztec CD
"When we last heard from Guided By Voices, they had released an astonishing four albums in just over 12 months. Each has a distinctive creative identity: Zeppelin Over China was a meat-and-potatoes double album, Warp And Woof was a return to the band's low-fidelity roots and under-two-minute earworms, Sweating The Plague was a slice of moody stadium rock, and Surrender Your Poppy Field was an unpredictable grab-bag of all of the above. After venturing through the tangled brambles of Plague and Poppy Field, here is a sunny summer reprieve, a relentless barrage of hooks -- Mirrored Aztec is the latest stop on this runaway train. Like its immediate predecessors, Mirrored Aztec is both its own entity and unmistakably GBV. It's also their most immediately welcoming and inviting offering in years -- there's nothing a fan of The Who, Big Star, or Wire, wouldn't love. For the GBV uninitiated, the clean, confident hooks of highlights 'Bunco Men,' 'Haircut Sphinx,' 'A Whale Is Top Notch,' 'Party Rages On' and the strummy 'To Keep An Area' will resonate immediately. It also contains some unprecedented GBV moments, too, like 'Math Rock,' an apparent tribute to the titular subgenre featuring classroom instruments and a children's choir, 'Please Don't Be Honest,' a dreamy reversal of the band's 2016 song and album Please Be Honest, and 'Thank You Jane,' perhaps the most open-hearted, guileless power-pop song from Pollard's pen in ages. If Pollard's discography -- 107 albums and counting -- seems intimidating, do not fear! With a brand-new, high-quality, all-the-waythere album every several months, it's abundantly clear that no band's fanbase has more fun."

GIMMICK, MATT Detroit Renaissance '79 7"
"Behold, another classic gem from the Detroit punk underbelly of the late 1970s, the elusive Matt Gimmick Detroit Renaissance '79 EP, which rose to notoriety in its second wind via the Year of the Rats LP compilation, one of the first 'raw & rare KBD-style' comps released just a few years ahead of the Killed By Death and Bloodstains compilations series. It's slash and burn at its core, but anchored heavily into a punked up Stooges template, and as much as the EP rules on its own merit, with one slow-burn 'Gimme Danger'-style original throbber, and the smoking hot title track oozing with enough factory grime to choke any Asheton on sight, this EP has come to stand as a bit of historical anomaly in the Detroit punk timeline. Two of the four tracks included here are/were actual unreleased Stooges songs the band learned from a late 1970 performance they had witnessed and recorded onto cassette. A few years earlier, the Matt Gimmick band was known as the punks, another heavily-Stooges influenced band that never had any releases during their time, yet made their name around town and luckily stayed busy in the studio (checkout their 1974-era LP on Rave Up) despite the lack of label action. Both 'Rag' and 'Ya Don't Want My Name' were the unreleased Stooges originals, performed during the band's 1971 post-Funhouse era with both Ron Asheton and James Williamson on guitar, and Jimmy Recca on bass. It wouldn't be until 2010 that the Stooges original rough live versions would surface on their The Electric Circus live LP, albeit much lower in fidelity than the oily & slithering Matt Gimmick studio versions from 1979. All in all, a rare piece of Detroit punk history is finally accessible again, and a filthy reminder of seedier times and harder crimes that our ancestors took all in stride."

ANEMIC BOYFRIENDS, THE Fake I.D./Bad Girls In Love 7"
"We never really thought it could happen, but here we are with the official reissue of the incredible, unforgettable, and oh so elusively un-comped Anemic Boyfriends, one of the only punk movements of such perversion and grace from the fair state of Alaska that can come to any stretch of the mind. Lead by the inimitable Louise Disease, The Anemic Boyfriends' uber-punk classic 'Fake I.D.' is one of the most riveting, jarring, and arresting teen punk blasts you will ever hear, and you will not forget it. As the title track from their second 7" single released in 1981 on Red Sweater Records, 'Fake I.D.' is not just one of the most perfect teenage rebellion anthems of the 20th century, it ranks right up there with 'My Generation' and 'Cherry Bomb' as one of the most shockingly memorable tracks your ears will ever hear. And with your help in perpetuation, it will be the most inescapable teenage anthem of the 1980s. You probably haven't heard a genuine punk song that has stopped you in your tracks in a long time, right? Well 'Fake I.D.' might be a little too much for you to handle, but we're glad you're up for the challenge. So are you 'Feelin' like a tiger in a cage?' Most people don't even understand the caliber of this teenage punk purity, but luckily for you, we've got the band onboard, and this shit is finally official. And although The Anemic Boyfriends qualify as one of the best fake punk outfits of their time (and definitely their region), they managed to produce another classic track 'Bad Girls In Love' from their debut single in 1980, which will make their other forgettable B-sides sound like mincemeat. So we've saved you the struggle, and pressed both of their best songs onto one fine 45 for your eternal pleasure, as these records last forever, you know. No monthly nick, no annual update fees. Real records with real punk music that's bleeding profusely with enthusiasm and frustration, with nary a whiff of an obligatory hardcore compromise. As Punk as possible. Amen." --Victim of Time

VINCENT, SONNY Diamond Distance & Liquid Fury: Primitive 1969-76 LP
"Sonny Vincent is a true punk pioneer, we all know that already. But did you know how deep this man's well of punk madness really goes? Well, I guess it's taken seven long years since we made that statement, but luckily, here we are with a full LP's worth of those recordings we'd wondered about, providing a pivotal glimpse into one of NYC's most shadowy figures of the underground. It's almost incredulous that his rock n' roll lineage goes back this far, with his first recording made while home on leave from the Vietnam War, and yet he was still a part of the first wave of '70s punk. If you remember the Fury 7" we released, along with this massive interview, it was apparent that there was more to dig up, and luckily our engineer was able to shine up these riveting primitive proto-punk monsters into reality. Distance were in a primordial heavy psych state on their earliest recording here from 1969, but the voice that you know so well is already in place, and cuts through the foggy throb like a knife's edge. Distance was Sonny's first active band, and were known to have opened for The Dogs & Suicide in 1973, as per the two incredible handmade flyers included on the back cover, and as the liner notes can attest, provided a real-life slice of shock-rock insanity. On this archival LP, you're treated to three previously unreleased Distance studio tracks from 1969-71, along with a 1972 radio advertisement for a FURY show at Greenwich High School, as well as both FURY tracks from HZR-125 remastered, plus the alternate version of 'Flying.' Possibly the best intersection of The Stooges, Budgie, and Black Sabbath we've ever heard. The second side kicks off with three Liquid Diamonds tracks, both 1973 tracks from HZR-155 remastered here, as well as a sizzling previously unreleased studio demo from 1974, right when the band was starting to lean into Testors territory. Speaking of which, the latest recording on the LP is from one of the earliest Testors recording session, a 1976 studio gem called "Scary" which appears here for the first time anywhere, and provides the bridge from the later Liquid Diamonds sound, into the grittier Testors tonality. And the interview liner notes, are nothing short of a revelation as well. RIYL: Stooges, Black Sabbath, Budgie, Edgar Broughton Band, UFO, Hawkwind, Motorhead, Pink Fairies, MC5."

WHIRLYWIRLD Complete Recordings 1978-80 LP
"Whirlywirld was an Australian post-punk band led by Ian 'Ollie' Olsen (Reals, Young Charlatans), and the first of his musical collaborations with drummer John Murphy (News). The band formed Whirlywirld in 1978 with their stated priority from the outset, to go electronic, determined as they were to take flight from the sonic limitations of the conventional, guitar-based rock format. A pioneer of synthesizer punk, the band came across with something of the experimentation of Suicide, Throbbing Gristle or Cabaret Voltaire, and also with the more song-oriented sound of Joy Division. Along with The Primitive Calculators they were supporters of the Melbourne 'Little Band' scene. Whirlywirld was completed by two keyboardists, who got credited with 'electronics', Andrew Duffield and Simon Smith (Olsen, by this point, had abandoned guitar in favor of 'electronics') together with guitarist Dean Richards. The band made their live debut at The Crystal Ballroom in 1979, by which time Duffield left to join The Models and had been replaced by Philip Jackson. Whirlywirld would go on to play only fourteen performances in their entire career. Gradually, in accordance with a change in direction, Richards, Jackson and Smith departed, with Richards going on to front a couple of cult combos, Equal Local and Hot Half Hour. Arnie Hanna came in on guitar and Greg Sun on bass. During this period Murphy played an array of percussion devices, natural, electronic or otherwise and Olsen even played saxophone as well as keyboards, The first incarnation of the band released a self-titled 7" EP in 1979 including the tracks 'Window To The World'/'Moto' on one side and 'Signals' on the other side. The second incarnation of the band recorded a number of tracks at York Street Studios in December, 1979. Four of these tracks came out on a 12" EP, again titled 'Whirlywirld' in February 1980. In 1980 the band released an untitled 12" mini album as well as a 7" single, all through Missing Link Records. In 1986 an album titled 'The Complete Studio Works' was also released through Missing Link Records. After the band split, Olsen and Murphy went on to form firstly The Beast Apparel, and then Hugo Klang, which performed a handful of gigs in England, and recorded a single, 'Beat Up On The Old Shack', released in Australia on Prince Melon Records. Olsen and Murphy then went on to form Orchestra of Skin and Bone, before their musical partnership ended with Olsen going to form NO in the late 1980's. Hanna and Murphy later played with Olsen and Michael Hutchence in the band Max Q. A version of one of Whirlywirld's songs, 'Win or Lose', was re-recorded by Olsen in 1986 for inclusion in the film Dogs In Space. Hutchence sang the early Whirlywirld song, 'Rooms for the Memory' on the soundtrack, being a hit on the mainstream Australian charts as a single in 1987. The remixed version of 'Win or Lose' was also released as a single by Olsen."

CRISS GROUP, EDDIE Undertaker LP
"At this point, it's pretty fair to assume that the USA's most famous 'Punk hotspot' has been pretty well-mined for its obscure fringe rock n' roll nuggets for some time now. And with further investigation within the deep confines of David Peel's Orange Records catalog in recent years since his passing, we've found a couple of tragically-overlooked rippers. Behold: the Undertaker LP from the elusive Eddie Criss Group, released to minimal fanfare in 1980. Little to no information really exists on the band, who were a short-lived studio-only project that employed the MC5's legendary Wayne Kramer on blistering lead guitar on every track. What comes out of the speakers cooks up a vibe that feels right at home with the first GG Allin LP (most notably the MC-2 with Wayne & Dennis Thompson on the EP recordings), caked with NYC scum-punk gold! But don't leave your first impressions there, as the Undertaker LP has quite a few stylistic flourishes that border on the psychedelic glam that Mr. Criss grew up around, and the flanged-out rhythm guitars and dramatic vocals criss-cross with Wayne Kramer's scorching leads, creating a real "outsider" feel on a few of the less-intense tracks. Combined with an eerie organ accompaniment that seems to lead down an ominous path to certain death, the Undertaker LP covers a lot of ground, and reveals another still unknown NYC punk-era figure that history left out. While working on the King of Punk LP, David had regaled us with stories about Wayne Kramer during this period running ads 'offering to play on local band's recordings for a few hundred bucks,' which in lots of cases, he would remain uncredited. Which makes this LP one of only a small handful of confirmed recordings from the period in the late 1970s, when Kramer was in NYC playing in Gang War with Johnny Thunders, and trying to drum up studio recording work to help offset legal fees after his drug bust. 14TH WISH 14th Wish/I Gotta Get Rid of You 7"
"'I'm not living my life so good, tell me, how about you?' What can we really say about 14th Wish, how did this band even exist? This record and band were completely unknown up until the last couple of years, when we were approached by a notorious record fiend who was looking for more info after our official release of David Peel's King of Punk LP. Here we have a band with no paper trail, zero online search results, and released in a tiny quantity on Orange Records in 1980, right alongside the first GG Allin and Eddie Criss Group LPs. But instead of a stylized gutter glam workout with a hot-shot studio guitarist, 14th Wish trip over themselves with a snotty/sloppy amateurism that veers farther into the beloved 'Killed By Death' arena, with it's sweltering Tapeworm-style lead guitar freak-outs, Fronted by the mysterious figure known as Halo Peace, both 14th Wish tracks offer a refreshing mid-tempo crud-punk slop-take on the sounds swirling around the drain of the Lower East Side at the end of the 1970s. Although both tracks aren't lightning fast, their instant ominous catchiness and absolutely sordid and squalorous guitar tone suggests a more murderous background, as well. RED LIGHTS, THE The Red Lights 12"
"Prior to forming the Gun Club, Jeffrey Lee Pierce (1958-1996) fronted The Red Lights. While 1980 is viewed as ground zero for Pierce's career -- his autobiography Go Tell The Mountain starts with the founding of the Gun Club -- Pierce was active as a rock critic for Slash magazine and had started songwriting years earlier. Throughout the late 1970s, Pierce's primary musical interests were power pop and reggae. He was the president of the Blondie fan club and had interviewed Burning Spear. So when the Red Lights, Pierce's first serious attempt at forming a band, started rehearsing it's unsurprising that power pop (with a hint of reggae) was the group's musical direction. The Red Lights existed throughout 1978. The lineup for the band's debut show on July 14, 1978 -- opening for The Germs and The Middle Class at the Whisky -- was Jeffrey Lee Pierce (vocals and guitar), Anna Statman (bass), Vitus Mataré (keyboards) and Jack Reynolds (drums). Mataré and Reynolds were members of The Last; Anna Statman was a contributing writer to Pleasant Gehman's Lobotomy fanzine. This lineup was short-lived. Mataré dropped out afterwards; Jack Reynolds stuck around a little longer. Thanks to Flipside's gig reviews, it's known that the Red Lights played at least two more shows: one at The Arena in Culver City and another one at The Rock Corporation in Van Nuys on August 9, 1978, opening up for The Weasels. By the end of 1978, Pierce had moved to New York City, effectively ending the Red Lights. At some point in the second half of 1978, The Red Lights recorded a demo. Little is known about the session. Mataré had already left the band, Statman vaguely remembers recording it. Unfortunately, Jack Reynolds passed away in 2009. The Red Lights were obscure; people familiar with the band were likely committed Gun Club fans. Few were aware that this demo tape existed; those who had a cassette copy likely received it from Pierce directly. Fast forward four decades and what's surprising about the Red Lights' material is how advanced Pierce's songwriting was at 19 years old -- the songs' dynamic range, that voice -- this is clearly the Gun Club's Jeffrey Lee Pierce. Again, it's all here." --Ryan Leach

BRUBAKER & MAX COOPER, BRUCE Glassforms 2LP
Double LP version. Two leaders from very different musical worlds, the innovative pianist Bruce Brubaker and scientist-now-electronic-artist Max Cooper collaborate to create this latest expression of music by Philip Glass and tell a story of diversity and vulnerability. Commissioned by and introduced at the Paris Philharmonie in 2019, Glassforms melds the acoustic concert grand piano with synths and cutting-edge electronic production techniques to create a compelling album and a dynamic live experience. Rather than just reworking or augmenting via traditional means, Max Cooper and Bruce Brubaker fundamentally rewire Glass's forms in a manner that's not possible with human composition tools. Max built a new system for musical expression through coding with software developer Alexander Randon, creating a tool for taking live data from the piano and transforming it into new but intimately related forms which drive his synths on stage. The result is that each of the pieces by Glass becomes its own electronic "instrument", an instrument Bruce plays in addition to, and simultaneously with the original piece. As Bruce plays the piano and controls synths with his playing, Max modulates and augments, sometimes adding his own melodies to form hybrid variants.

LESS BELLS Mourning Jewelry CD
"The sophomore offering by Julie Carpenter's textural orchestral entity Less Bells takes its title from a storied strain of decorative objects worn in remembrance of lost loved ones: Mourning Jewelry. The album shares a similar mood of devotional pageantry, stirring ornamental laments born from a need to 'create beauty out of grief.' Utilizing an amalgam of strings, synthesizers, and choirs, the pieces ascend and descend in grand, glimmering arcs, ebbing from passages of 'baroque complexity' to expanses of haunting emptiness. Certain songs also skew more overtly western than ever before, deeply reverbed plucks of banjo refracted against glowing horizons of sunrise drone: Americana gone ambient. Furthering the music's mystic intentionality, the track titles comprise 'the major arcana of a tarot deck from an alternate universe,' lorded over by the 'Queen Of Crickets,' ruler of 'The Gates,' 'The Fault,' and 'The Fang.' Even so, the record requires no psychic divination to glean its fragile majesty, its muted tumult of mirage and melody. The beauty it possesses is too blatant, and bountiful."

PYE CORNER AUDIO Where Things Are Hollow 2 12"
Martin Jenkins, more commonly known as the artist Pye Corner Audio, epitomizes Lapsus Records' commitment to cutting edge sound experimentation. In 2017, he beguiled the electronic music community by releasing the Where Things Are Hollow EP (LAPSUS 016EP), on Lapsus Records. The Barcelona label announces the release of Where Things Are Hollow 2, consisting of three brand new original cuts and a remix from none other than John Talabot. Where Things Are Hollow 2 explores a spectral and hypnagogic terrain, establishing an electronic sound that at times invokes Jenkins' more dance friendly facet -- "Self Synchronise", "Weather The Storm" -- while also offering his familiar iridescent dreamlike ambient textures -- "Phase B" -- that featured prominently on his first EP. This second EP also includes a remix from John Talabot, unquestionably one of Spain's most internationally recognized names over the last decade, who exquisitely reimagines "Resist" -- a song from the first EP -- transforming it into a cross between EBM and hypnotic techno. From a graphic design perspective, renowned artists Alex Trochut and Basora have once again collaborated on this project, repeating the formula that made the artwork for Where Things Are Hollow such a collector's item.

PREQUEL TAPES Ruin LP
Prequel Tapes is Marco Freivogel, a producer, DJ. and live performer who's been making electronic music since he was a teenager. What began with an accident and the rediscovery of some lost DAT tapes, has become the driving force for all his creative expression in the last years. Prequel Tapes' previous albums, Inner Systems (2015) and Everything Is Quite Now (GAFFA 002LP, 2018), received widespread critical praise for their originality, depth, and composition. He has released two tape projects The Pandora Star Sessions and Dinge, a collaboration with the artists Mare Nero. Prequel Tapes live performances range from solo all hardware jams to a large-scale collaboration with Butoh dancer Valentin Tzin and motion artist Ksenia Mozhayskaya, aka nomoreless. To many people, the concept of Ruin is fearful, depressing, dark -- conjuring notions of decay, fallen morality, or tragedy. But to others, the idea of Ruin is of hope for what may come after -- opportunities to rebuild, rethink, and challenge. Ruin may be the only chance to stop the passive march towards the destruction of the feral human spirit, the failure of our imagination to the homogenizing power of capital. Both the music and the artwork reflect the artist's long-held view that art should challenge, jar, and provoke. Offering the balance of what's dark and disturbing to appreciate beauty and the light. Rejecting a world where the uncomfortable is covered up with plastic veneer and platitudes as a vital artistic expression. Using a highly personalized setup of hardware collected over many years, Prequel Tapes wanders through concrete mazes and dark forests with infinite curiosity. In these cold empty spaces, Ruin oscillates freely between sunshine and shadows, where grit and gravel pay homage to the industrial anti-melodies of the '80s, appearing as earworms after the rain. The sonic DNA of teenage dreams are central to the aesthetic aspirations of Ruin, as are the sparse minimalist frameworks of composers like Arvo Pärt. Drawing upon the stains of his musical history, Prequel Tapes merges each drop into an honest, singular sound, honing in on decades of love for abstract electronics with a profound emotional sensitivity. References may reveal themselves on close listen, but never command space, serving instead as subtle threads woven carefully into a tapestry of synthesis; aware of its past but firmly grounded in the present. VIAN, PEDRO Ibillorca LP
Spanish producer Pedro Vian is dreaming of the sea on Ibillorca, his third studio album. "Ibillorca is a journey to a utopian island, a journey to a new state of mind." You can hear this displaced utopia on songs like "Can Mortera", a dreamy reflection on house music, recorded in Ibiza in summer 2019, that brings to mind Larry Heard at his most meditative; or "Medusa" (featuring artist Rosalie Wammes), which sounds like Tangerine Dream drifting over the sea. The Quietus called Pedro Vian's debut album Beautiful Things You Left Us For Memories (MODERN 005LP, 2016) "the soundtrack to walking around the city at night," while his eponymous second album was both deeply personal and more suited for the dancefloor. Ibillorca is his Mediterranean album and his most varied release to date. "The Destiny Manifest" nods to drum and bass -- albeit a touchingly Iberian take on the genre -- while "Western Snow" has a hint of Erik Satie's piano minimalism. Vian's new home in The Netherlands also played a role in shaping Ibillorca. Vian recorded the album during his residency at HetHEM, a new contemporary space in Zandaam, 30 minutes from Amsterdam. "I have my studio at the top of the building, from there I can see all the boats going up and down the river IJ," Vian says. "The art space is located in an industrial area, everything is grey, also the sky." All the better, then, for dreaming of the sea.

SOLEY We Sink 2LP
2020 restock. Limited second edition now including three bonus tracks (no longer has a vinyl etching); housed in a gatefold sleeve with printed innersleeves. This is the first full-length release from Iceland's Sóley Stefánsdóttir. The bespectacled multi-instrumentalist from Iceland had been around the world and back with her band, Seabear, when she finally discovered her own vocal skills. Even though Sóley sings non-stop in private, creating a musical backdrop to pretty much everything she does, it just took her a while to get used to the sound of her own voice. It's the sound of this voice that's at the very core of her intricate compositions, tracks that flare like a bunch of magic lanterns, taking shape, growing hazy, flaming up once again, then moving on. Sóley sans Seabear is basically a storyteller who has come up with her very own wonderland. Meet her on the street and she seems rather introverted; yet, she's far from shy in this self-created musical sphere, a sonic realm she freely expands, stakes out, reinvents, turns upside-down. Throughout the album, Sóley spins one yarn after the next; at one point, unfortunate "Smashed Birds" have to give their feathers for a new dress, while the guitar, making a special appearance, sets the tone. Elsewhere, she focuses on the moment when a dream is exposed as such, this time over a huge sonic expanse drowned in reverb. Song after song, the former student of composition manages to combine seemingly disparate elements with stunning ease -- a snap of her fingers and a click of the tongue. After Theater Island, 2010's 6-track EP, Sóley presents an album full of rhythmic, makeshift creatures, of handclaps hidden in the undergrowth, tempting us to join in. These tracks are sometimes incredibly catchy; amazingly quirky at other times: think cardigan-folk from the northern hemisphere, think Joanna Newsom minus her harp, or the CocoRosie sisters circa 2004, but clearly better-trained and less crooked. In other words: her voice, those loops moving around like wooden toys, and finally the piano -- that's the backbone, the essence of her compositions; at least until some unexpected element appears. Includes mp3 download code.

FREDFADES & JAWN RICE Luv Neva Fades LP
To say Fredfades and Jawn Rice are house music producers would be sneering at their efforts across genres like hip-hop, soul, and jazz. The Mutual Intentions collaborators have forged a sound together in classic house, siphoning a myriad of influences through their intricate constructions in the studio as solo acts since first meeting in 2007. Becoming fast friends over a shared love of the dusty beats of an SP1200, Jawn Rice and Fredfades started working together while the Mutual Intentions collective gestated around them. Individual works by Jawn and Fred dot the collective's back catalogue like various nodes of evolution through the course of MI's output. "We've always been sharing sketches," explains Jawn Rice, "but I feel that these past years have been more productive in getting some of these sketches out as songs with Fredrik. It's just a continuation of our friendship." Emboldened by this friendship and with their finely tuned skills in the studio, honed to near-perfection, they eventually started making music together. Following two seminal solo LPs -- Fredfades' Warmth (2017) and Jawn Rice's Highlights (2017) -- the pair consolidated their music as a duo in 2019, striking out with their electrifying debut, Jacuzzi Boyz (2019). In a fusion between Jawn's electronic inclinations and Fred's soulful eccentricities, Jacuzzi Boyz established the duo as a new force working within the broad scope of house music, with a sound imbued in the origin story of House and the genre's hip-hop allegiances. In 2020 they continue to pursue music together in the sophomore LP, Luv Neva Fades. Following the release of the title track and lead single, Luv Neva Fades finds the producers cementing their artistic voice and re-enforcing their commitment to a singular sound. Lush Rhodes keys and bouncing percussion lay the foundations for the album, while buoyant bass-lines and sparkling synthesizers provide the catalyst for a crooning vocal or ruminating melody. It's a record that thrives in a sultry mood; an LP that basks in the warmth of its analog origins and cools in the shade of languid chord progressions. Like Jacuzzi Boys, this album is an extended collaborative affair, as Mutual Intentions' reach stretches across the Atlantic with guest appearances from Byron the Aquarius, Javonntte, Arthur Kay, Bendik HK, and the SP1200 that started it all. Shimmering melodies, hazy harmonies, and boisterous beats draw Fredfades and Jawn Rice out of the jacuzzi and onto the dancefloor.

VA Door to the Cosmos - On the Corner Dancefloor Sampler 12"
On the Corner Records was awarded "Label of the Year" at the Worldwide Awards 2018. On The Corner Records is a story of artists and scenes that goes way beyond being a record label. The label is an inimitable mixture of Miles Davis's "call it what you want" attitude, Sun Ra' s Afro futurism, and the ecstatic soul lifting influence of Black music on electronic dance music. On Door to the Cosmos - On the Corner Dancefloor Sampler, DJ and label owner Pete On the Corner has curated a volume of cuts from present and future label family. On this maxi EP, Venezuela meets India via New York, the street sound of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania pulses through UK jungle. Opener, Dengue Dengue Dengue's "Yodeler", is finally on wax having been as rare-as-hens-teeth dubplate. From psychedelic cumbia to dub, salsa to footwork, tribal to techno, the tropical duo from Peru explore analog and digital rhythms to create their unique sound. New label family, The Diabolical Liberties are stalwart scenesters, Alex Patchwork and Earl Zinger. "River of Sound" tears through the jungle, so jump in for a swim. Uffe is also making his OtC debut. Pete OtC chased him down as he was prolifically dropping jazzed-up and gnarly house after returning to his native Denmark. Black Classical is back after a regenerative hiatus: the mysterious web otherlings reputation underpinned by his 12-hour "spiritual jazz" mix tape that has been living its own life online and across the radio waves over the last decade. "Medassi" is an elixir of deep house. On the flip, is another fresh-faced recruit to the OtC family. Clive From Accounts's "Moon Buggy" makes it clear he wasn't only paying attention to OtC's numbers. MC Palakata, aka Mosam, is a dancer with a Singeli flow, from the streets of Dar Es Salaam. During an OtC recording session at Nafasi Studio in Dar, Tom Blip worked with Palakata and created this heat. Set alight with Swahili, "Singeli Jungles" is wild. Following on from Planet Battagon's sold-out debut EP of "driod jazz" (OTCR 12011EP, 2018), the Admiral has sent this hard-swinging, future thumper to OtC. "Tugg Luke Endeavour" kicks it to the cosmic dancefloor. "Mudras'" by Sunken Cages remixed here by New York's MPeach, brings more, new OtC family straight to wax. The remix adds "Latinx del Futuro" where hi-energy dance meets low-end bass, adding a lilt of the rhythms from her native Venezuela.

STOJAN, NICO Cardano EP 12"
A true son of Berlin, Nico Stojan has synthesized the city's hedonistic, tripped out soul into a sound that is instantly recognized as his own. Just as likely to be found playing epic sunrise sets at Burning Man or producing mesmerizing tracks over a cup of green tea in his Berlin studio, the co-head dog of Ouïe (along with Acid Pauli) always provides a wide screen take on underground dance music. With the Cardano EP, Stojan continues on the path of mind-expanding house grooves -- the title track is a nine-minute exploration that uses a few sounds in a subtle and intricate way to create a psychedelic dancefloor burner that seems perfect for those sunrise moments. Together is a mid-paced chugger that utilizes a simple melodic motif to create a spacy, loose vibe -- the perfect track to get lost for a moment to. Inhale has a baggy groove with intricate percussion leaving lots of room for the gentle, wandering keys to work their magic. Once the kick arrives it's a moment of pure endorphin rush.

ERICKSON, ROKY All That May Do My Rhyme LP
Restocked; LP version. Play Loud! Productions present the first reissue of Roky Erickson's All That May Do My Rhyme, originally released in 1994. Roky Erickson is a legend. Former member of the 13th Floor Elevators, he was considered the white James Brown. Drug problems and diagnosed schizophrenia made him an outsider. By the '90s, he was struggling to survive on a $200 monthly social security check. In 1990, artists like R.E.M., ZZ Top, and the Jesus and Mary Chain recorded his songs for a tribute album. Erickson performed publicly for the first time in many years at the Austin Music Awards. In 1994, he returned to the studio with guitarists Charlie Sexton and the Butthole Surfers' Paul Leary to record All That May Do My Rhyme. This record was released on CD, cassette, and vinyl in 1994 on Paul Leary's Trance Syndicate Records. Notes from the original press release: "Trance Syndicate is pleased to present the first studio recording in almost a decade by one of the most gifted, most influential, most inspired singer/songwriters from the Republic of Texas since Buddy Holly. Roky Erickson is back! performing new songs and a few classics in one of the best studios in Texas, backed by some of Texas' finest musicians." HIATT DB Palimpsest 12"
From the backwaters of New Orleans, Hiatt dB bursts forth with Palimpsest, a remarkable debut on Rhythm Section International. Simmering "Sun Spell" explodes in glorious technicolor as you meet the lead track -- an orgy of uplifting piano stabs, hyper-speed second line rhythms and spiraling bass. This frenetic, joyful opener -- road tested and verified extensively by Rhythm Section head Bradley Zero - has "Peak Time" written all over it. New Orleans is a drum city and true to his home Hiatt doesn't let up on the rhythmic assault with second track "Palimpsest". An intricate snare rudiment leads us to a demented bassline which sears a hole through the percussion as it builds to a dizzying crescendo, only to release the pressure teasingly, time and time again. Hiatt dB is an artist who wears his city's influence proudly, and as you flip the record over you see these local ingredients incorporated once again but this time resulting in a distinctly more ethereal energy. The sizzling stylings of "6 O'Clock Rock" have "Big Easy" written all over them, perfectly complimented by a cameo from the mellow canary himself, just to make sure the vibes is right... To round off this exceptionally strong debut EP, the closing track takes a turn towards the deeper side of the New Orleans sound. Effortless, hypnotic and masterfully understated, sit back and bask in the euphoric, sparkling breaks of "Everyday Break". It's the warm afterglow you need as the journey of the record comes to its triumphant conclusion.

PRINS THOMAS Traens 2LP
It's no big secret: The elements of trance music have always played a vital part in the music of Prins Thomas. In fact, there are scholars who argue that these stylistic attributes were the ramp that shot his disco into space. But let's not pour hot coffee onto the cold one. When the king they call Prins sent a loose bunch of tracks to Gerd Janson to get some sort of feedback, it was like an epiphany: the calling for the missing link between Logic Trance compilations of yesteryear and the honey for the strobe light bees of today has finally been answered. Naturally, it's not all ice cannons and glow sticks, endorphins and euphoria. The private and poetic Prins stands just one step behind the sweaty one -- in alphanumeric track list order. If there has ever been something like thinking-(wo)mans-trance, this is the album for it. Gatefold sleeve.

BOOF Rebirth of Gerberdaisy 2LP
Rebirth of Gerberdaisy is the fifth BOOF longplayer. Ten-track, double vinyl released on Running Back in collaboration with Bubbletease Communications. Produced by Maurice Fulton."Maurice Fulton is infamously press-shy, but you can get a good idea of his personality through his music. A Maurice Fulton record embodies the idea of being high on life. Joy seems to permeate every surface and sound in his music. Fulton has many aliases and projects, and my favourite is BOOF, the name he dusts off every five years or so for a celebration of funk, techno and jazzy noodling. The records are all flower-themed, and they burst out of the speakers like springtime in bloom. Rebirth of Gerberdaisy (a reference to the first BOOF record, Life Is Water For Gerbadaisies When They Are Dancing) might be his best one yet, as much a showcase for his multi-talented fingers -- guitar, piano, drums, organ, shamisen -- as his production skills . . . No matter what style or approach he's taken, Fulton has always had a vibrant outlook and gifted approach to music. The BOOF records are like a quantized version of the Parliament Funkadelic LPs that blazed a new trail through soul, funk and progressive rock in the '70s. They simmer and boil over with the same infectious, half-winking energy of Fulton's hero George Clinton. But you can't really compare Fulton with anyone else, and there isn't a moment on Rebirth of Gerberdaisy, through all of its stylistic shifts, that doesn't sound exactly like Maurice Fulton. After all, why settle for one genre when you can make them all sound like your own?" --Andrew Ryce for Resident Advisor

JAEGER, KASSEL Swamp / Things 2LP
Over the last decade, Kassel Jaeger, the moniker of the Paris-based composer, writer/theorist, producer, and director of the Groupe de Recherches Musicales (GRM), François Bonnet, has meticulously sculpted a body of multidisciplinary work that rests at the forefront contemporary electronic and electroacoustic practice. Jaeger's work across numerous fields, be it in text, action, or sound presents a crucial bridge between the optimistic, philosophical origins of electronic and electroacoustic music, the present and where they have yet to delve. With his first solo LP with Shelter Press, Swamps / Things, Kassel Jaeger wades into this foggy, conceptual realm. From memory and metaphor -- sliding fluidly through the imagistic and emotive -- emerges an immersive, cavernous world that rethinks electroacoustic music on organic terms. Swamps / Things was conceived as an opera without distinct characters or text. It draws Kassel Jaeger into his own history, experiences, and the unlikely double of the swamp, a landscape that has held literal and metaphorical sway over him since childhood. Merging eight works as a total environment, abstaining from distinct shape or discrete articulation, across the album's breadth, sound becomes a shifting mirror for the bubbling, ordered chaos of organic life. Resting at the junction of concept, emotion, and phenomena, Swamps / Things encounters an artist of remarkable craft, delving toward the unknown, deploying organized sonority as object and environment, as much as action, movement, passage, and arc. Seemingly possessed by an entropy entirely its own, the temporal gives way to the poetics of space, while the density of an endlessly evolving climate, laden with cacophonous happenings, renders itself still. Flickering images of the natural world -- memory and the imagined reformed as sound - present an operatic double for human action and thought. From deep, fog like banks of minimalist long tone, to industrial clamors left as tracks in the mud, or the collisions of shifting pulses, overtones, and textures -- captured from across the murky, drone laden waters between the acoustic and synthetic realms -- moody, howling cries and tense meditations merge in ambient sheets, capturing a fleeting image of where decomposition gives way to new growth. Swamp / Things features contributions from Jim O'Rourke and Lucy Railton. Jaeger has previously collaborated with Stephen O'Malley, Stephan Mathieu, Akira Rabelais, Oren Ambarchi, James Rushford, and others. Mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi, cut at Dubplates & Mastering. Printed artwork by Cameron Jamie on inner and outer reverse-board jackets.

BONNET, FRANCOIS J. The Music To Come Book
This is not a study. It is a manifesto for a peculiar conviction: that music remains to be discovered, that it is still hidden. That, nonetheless, it does sometimes appear, but most often incompletely and unevenly. And that what we have hitherto referred to as "music" is in fact only a preliminary, a prodrome. That all musics produced up until now have been nothing but simulacra, rituals to call music forth. This may sound crazy, and indeed unwelcome. But the sole concern of the following text will be to make this statement legible, understandable, and perhaps even to some extent acceptable. Its hope is that, setting out from a few intuitions, the possibility of a music to come can be formulated. That this obscure becoming will emerge, one trait at a time; that the shape of this music to come will reveal itself, gradually, by way of a cluster of assumptions, the reading of a multiple history, and the examination of damaging paradigms that have taken music far from itself. That the subjectivity of a writing, with all of its beliefs, its errors, its biases, its injustices and its shaky certainties, may yet manage to cast a singular and inspiring light upon the idea of music -- this, ultimately, is the ambition of the lines to come. 56 pp; cover thread sewn silkscreened softcover; 11x16 cm.François J. Bonnet is a Franco-Swiss composer, writer and theorist based in Paris. He's the Director of INA GRM and also produces radio shows for national radio France Musique. His music, often released under the Kassel Jaeger project name, has been presented worldwide.

SPECTRES Spectres II Resonances Book
To resonate: re-sonare. To sound again -- with the immediate implication of a doubling. Sound and its double: sent back to us, reflected by surfaces, diffracted by edges and corners. Sound amplified, swathed in an acoustics that transforms it. Sound enhanced by its passing through a certain site, a certain milieu. Sound propagated, reaching out into the distance. But to resonate is also to vibrate with sound, in unison, in synchronous oscillation. To marry with its shape, amplifying a common destiny. To join forces with it. And then again, to resonate is to remember, to evoke the past and to bring it back. Or to plunge into the spectrum of sound, to shape it around a certain frequency, to bring out sonic or electric peaks from the becoming of signals. Resonance embraces a multitude of different meanings. Or rather, remaining always identical, it is actualized in a wide range of different phenomena and circumstances. Such is the multitude of resonances evoked in the pages below: a multitude of occurrences, events, sensations, and feelings that intertwine and welcome one other. Everyone may have their own history, everyone may resonate in their own way, and yet we must all, in order to experience resonance at a given moment, be ready to welcome it. The welcoming of what is other, whether an abstract outside or on the contrary an incarnate otherness ready to resonate in turn, is a condition of resonance. This idea of the welcome is found throughout the texts that follow, opening up the human dimension of resonance, a dimension essential to all creativity and to any exchange, any community of mind. Which means that resonance here is also understood as being, already, an act of paying attention, i.e. a listening, an exchange. Addressing one or other of the forms that this idea of resonating can take on (extending -- evoking -- reverberating -- revealing -- transmitting), each of the contributions brought together in this volume reveals to us a personal aspect, a fragment of the enthralling territory of sonic and musical experimentation, a territory upon which resonance may unfold. The book has been designed as a prism and as a manual. May it in turn find a unique and profound resonance in each and every reader. Features writings by: Jean-Luc Nancy, Tomoko Sauvage, Christian Zanési, Maryanne Amacher, Christina Kubisch, Okkyung Lee, David Toop, Pali Meursault, David Rosenboom, Chris Corsano, Ellen Fullman, and The Caretaker. Editors: François J. Bonnet, Bartolomé Sanson. Binding: thread-sewn metallic softcover; Size: 135 x 200 cm; Page count: 196 pp.; First edition: 2500 copies; Language(s): French/English. PRINCIPAL Treacherous Dub LP
Principal is the new solo project by producer and musician Rasmus Allin, who's first album Treacherous Dub will be released on the Copenhagen-based label StereoRoyal. Best described as an homage to old-school Jamaican dub, Principal's music features live recorded drums and other instruments. Fused with electronic elements, it celebrates the sound of the original dub pioneers. Born in 1970, Rasmus Allin has been working as a producer, musician, and songwriter since the mid-nineties, primarily within the realm of electronic music. Inspired by the British trip hop and drum n' bass scene, he soon gravitated towards Jamaican dub, rocksteady, and reggae. "I found my inspiration in the old Jamaican dub masters like Lee Scratch Perry, King Tubby, Augustus Pablo, and Scientist. I've spent endless hours in the studio trying to replicate their sound, using old tape delays, filter boxes, and modulation effects," he says. In 2002, Allin formed the band Junkyard Productions, playing major venues and festivals. Alongside this, he continued to hone his skills in producing, co-writing, and remixing music, working with top Danish pop and reggae acts the likes of Natasja, Pharfar, Wafande, Shaka Loveless, and the British girl band All Saints. English bands and producers like Dub Pistols, Gorillaz, and Roots Manuva are further influences channeled into his forthcoming release, which he references for their very personal and modern sound. With most of the album built on drum tracks recorded over ten years ago by the drummer Christian Skjødt, the album finds its strength in interlocking rhythmic patterns of baselines, chord stabs, and melodies. Treacherous Dub will be Allin's first album of pure instrumental dub tracks -- an ambition he's been wanting to fulfil for years. Marking his debut as a solo artist, the album also marks his premiere as a visual artist, with the album cover lithograph made by Allin himself. For Rasmus Allin, the collaboration with StereoRoyal offered "the perfect opportunity to give the tracks the finishing touches." StereoRoyal is a Danish library music label founded in 2010 by and specializes in off-kilter music for film and TV. 180 gram vinyl.

A reinterpretation of the more ambient and orchestral elements of Tender Extinction (Jansen's second solo album). Not a remix by any means, some familiar passages are woven together with additional pieces to create a suite of instrumentals lasting over 55 minutes as one single track split over Sides A and B of this double-LP album. Corridor is a slowly evolving instrumental piece designed for playback in a gallery space with uncontrolled acoustics and no sound insulation. Avoiding percussive and complicated bass content this audio is designed to float in a live space at low level volume allowing sonic variations to subtly stimulate the ambience. The compositions are annotated and explained in detail by the composer, as well as a kind of wild autobiography. Released in Sub Rosa's Early Electronic series.Joris De Laet was born in 1947. Belgian by birth, self-taught by definition, parametric music and art video composer by choice. Founder of the S.E.M. (Studio voor Experimentele Muziek) in Antwerp, 1973. Internships at the IPEM (Instituut voor Psychoakoestiek en Elektronische Muziek) in Ghent, 1972-1975, under Karel Goeyvaerts, Lucien Goethals, and Dr. Herman Sabbe. De Laet is the founder of the SEMensemble, a group of musicians-composers specialized in performing experimental music and live electronics. From 1975 until 1990, he gave concerts with this ensemble throughout Europe (Germany, France, The Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Croatia, etc.) and in Canada (Montreal, Kingston, Toronto). Inspired by the deep control on electronic sonics, De Laet has been defining his work since 1979 as "Parametric Music", music where composition is based on transformation flows of one or several parameters, selected by the composer, that form, through their converging (or diverging) processes the main characteristics of the regulated sonics of the composition. Double-CD version comes in a digipack; includes 20-page booklet.

UNIVERS ZERO Phosphorescent Dreams LP
2020 repress; LP version. Orange vinyl. Available for the first time outside Japan, and on LP and CD, Phosphorescent Dreams is another epic album of symphonic schizophrenic avant-rock from Univers Zero, originally released in 2014 -- only on CD -- on the Japanese label Arcàngelo. Phosphorescent Dreams presents at the same time, in the same track, even on a single moment, the complex musical schemes and ways of Univers Zero, ranging from maximalism to minimalism, classical avant-garde with a 2020 vibe in a constant flux. In a blend of tension constantly emerging from a subtle dialogue between avant-rock and contemporary influences, harmonies and dissonance, Phosphorescent Dreams is a balanced formula of old-school know-how reshaped almost 40 years after the release of the seminal LP Univers Zero, reissued by Sub Rosa (SR 399LP, 2016).Univers Zero represents one of the longest-living bands in Belgium. It was established in 1974. Drummer Daniel Denis had the brilliant idea to gather together a team of professionals sharing the same taste for music. The band has adopted an instrumental progressive style. Over the last couple of decades, the band has also implemented a series of influences from chamber music -- most commonly, chamber music from the 20th century. Even if the line-up changes a lot over the years, the overall sound of UZ remained fairly consistent.

VLADISLAV DELAY/SLY DUNBAR/ROBBIE SHAKESPEARE 500-Push-Up CD
From Mille Plateaux to Leaf, Staubgold, and Raster-Noton, ~scape, among others, or on his own label Ripatti, the Finnish artist Sasu Ripatti, aka Vladislav Delay, has been exploring various iterations of the "dub culture vs. electronica", since 1997. His sonic crafts and unique signature sound have been sought after by an eclectic range of bands and artists, ranging from Massive Attack, Hauschka, Black Dice, Autopoieses, Animal Collective, or AGF. Vladislav Delay met Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare (the most prolific Jamaican rhythm section and production duo) thanks to a series of jam sessions. Trumpet player Nils-Petter Molvaer had been asked by the Jamaicans to join them and he invited Delay alongside guitar player Eivind Aarset to tag along, which eventually turned into the Nordub project. The result of these jam sessions turned into an album, mixed and mostly produced by Vladislav Delay, released on the label Okeh. It was also followed by an extensive series of live dates. This one-shot reunion was the beginning of another story: a trio composed by Delay, Dunbar, and Shakespeare. In January 2019, Vladislav Delay went to Kingston and spent some days at The Anchor studios, to record drums and bass with S&R, some voice takes and a series of atmospheric field recordings. Back to Finland, Delay started to experiment with this precious material, mixing, and overdubbing, in the comfort and quiet of his studio, based on the island of Hailuoto, Baltic Sea, Northern Finland, giving another feeling to the Jamaican trip. This became a tribute to the "dub spirit", but in a very personal way, far beyond any influence or "the obvious". 500-Push-Up is two worlds collapsing, merging, also showing some intriguing approach of the Jamaican groove, used as a filigree, like the echo or the ghost of reggae, converging and conversing with a post-industrial and experimental approach. To file beside experiments -- for instance -- such as Lee Perry's Scientist Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires (1981) or the On U-Sound productions. Somewhere between the old-school electronica culture, the soundscaping, the experimental paths of Lee Perry and Adrian Sherwood, ghostly clubbing anthems, minimalism, pop, jazz, without being influenced, Vladislav Delay is building a drifting and coherent sound enigma. Personnel: Vladislav Delay - electronics, sampling, percussion; Sly Dunbar - drums; Robbie Shakespeare - bass. CD version includes two additional tracks.

SCARLET'S WELL Magic (Selections from 1999-2010) CD
The world of Scarlet's Well was conceived in 1998 by Bid, the lead singer, guitarist, and main songwriter of The Monochrome Set, after they had disbanded for a second time. Lavishly illustrated albums emerged quietly, all set in and around Mousseron, "a sickly village situated somewhere east of the Azores and only slightly north of the Styx" populated by howling wolves, seductive mermaids, and a bawdy captain with his crew of beer-swilling pirates and off-kilter animals with disturbingly human characteristics. In Bid's words, "I wanted this to be an 'atmosphere' rather than a band, and thought I'd have greater freedom using a variety of different singers, musicians and writers. The identity of the albums had to be strong enough to allow these changes, without them seeming like compilations. It's akin to an open-ended musical with a partly ever-changing cast." Between 1999 and 2010, Scarlet's Well released seven albums on Spanish-based Siesta Records. It was originally designed as a studio project, with a vague idea that a live band may follow. In the event, four albums were made where nearly all the instrumentation was performed by Bid, Orson Presence (keyboard player of the '90s Monochrome Set), and Toby Robinson (producer of most of the '90s Monochrome Set albums). Bid's voice took turns with an enchanting cast of young ladies, of whom only Alice Healey was a permanent member. Soon after the fourth album, a live band was formed, though without Orson Presence, who was now living in Canada. A slightly changing line-up then recorded three more albums, with live performances, before Scarlet's Well disbanded in 2010. The third rebirth of The Monochrome Set then followed, and is still going. Archaic and arcane, literate and witty, cinematic and surreal, the Scarlet's Well songs feature gorgeous, timeless, intoxicating melodies with wide range of rich and multi-layered instrumentation. Although there is a conceptual thread that runs through the albums, each song still stands alone, an oddly shaped trinket from a treasure trove. Lyrics leap from cryptic literary allusions to pert whimsy, and although there is a certain obscure quality there is also an air of familiarity: a morphic memory magic, bringing on a parallel universe that reveals itself to those who are open to getting lost with new acquaintances down strange cobbled streets, wooded glades, uncharted waters or the dark tunnels of the underworld.

THREE QUEENS IN MOURNING/BONNIE PRINCE BILLY Hello Sorrow - Hello Joy CD
Three Queens in Mourning first gathered in summit to sing celebration of the publication of Will Oldham's book of collected lyrics, Songs of Love and Horror (2018). Alasdair Roberts (Appendix Out), Jill O' Sullivan (Jill Lorean), and Alex Neilson (Trembling Bells, Alex Rex) each arrived provisioned with a small armful of selections nearest and dearest from Bonnie Prince Oldham's far-reaching catalog. Three Queens in Mourning's takes on these tunes follow naturally from the fit between Will's words and their three distinctive voices. Alasdair Roberts' sweet, guileless delivery of "Christmas Time in the Mountains" amplifies the lacerating quality of the lyric "we need an enemy / I'm saving all my rage for you"; even if at the outset of the song we're told that "time is the enemy," the abiding sentiment -- the red-hot word that organizes my memory of the song -- is rage. Ali and Jill's trading of verses on "New Partner" puts a different spin on what had previously registered as an especially mercurial first-person narrative voice, one that swoops between tenderness ("lay back, rest your head on my thighs") and ecstatic self-absorption (breaking it to the ex to whom the song is addressed that "I've got a new partner riding with me"). Add Alex's voice, not only for his madcap "Lost Blues," but as part of the choir on "Ohio River Boat Song" (a song with origins in the traditional "Loch Tay Boat Song"), and these three Scottish accents singing about the muddy Ohio, Smoketown, Oldham County, and Floyds Knobs, there's not much else this Kentuckian like Oldham -- these are all deeply familiar landmarks -- can say. Type through tears. On this back-to-back record, the Bonnie "Prince" Billy LP is a collection of three cover versions from Ali, Jill, and Alex directory and one original track. Three Queens in Mourning/Bonnie "Prince" Billy is a collaboration between Will Oldham (Bonnie Prince Billy), Alasdair Roberts (Appendix Out), Jill O Sullivan (Jill Lorean), and Alex Neilson (Trembling Bells, Alex Rex). Sleeve notes by David Grubbs.

GIST, THE Interior Windows LP
LP version. In the wake of Young Marble Giants' breakup, two camps were created, with Stuart Moxham taking the band's minimalist, geometric play to extremes and Alison Statton adding more warmth and feeling to the same basic template and creating something stunning but based in popular forms. Those two opposing -- almost knee-jerk -- means of forging new paths away from one of music's most astonishingly unique debuts both happened to include Stuart's brother -- Alison's former boyfriend -- Phil Moxham. Without a real template to guide him, Stuart's new form of music -- as The Gist -- was widely regarded as wildly uneven. Stuart admits that he didn't know which way to go, so in perverse style, he decided to take all directions at once. The Gist's original discography stood at a scant 18 songs, but only seven featured Stuart's own voice, often in heavily processed and oddly mixed form. So, while The Gist's label, Rough Trade, had the widest array of unique voices in popular music, Stuart buried his own voice. Sales disappointed. The Gist were dropped. A decade later, starting with a critical reevaluation of The Gist's sole album, Embrace The Herd (1982), in an issue of Mojo, the tide begin to turn. Ambience in pop music had enjoyed a cult following from Eno on, but the non-linear structure of many of The Gist's songs had certain parallels with the rise of artists such as Aphex Twin and Seefeel. One song from the era was covered by Etienne Daho in France. The Gist's story could have been different. Recent discovery of a trove of unreleased songs, versions, and demos showed that Stuart had ample material on a par with his YMG work, sometimes in rough demo form, but often in five or six complete, entirely different arrangements. With the 2017 album of unreleased material by The Gist, Holding Pattern (PICI 009CD/LP, 2017), a new audience discovered the band and the release sold out quickly. Interior Windows adds 13 new performances or alternate versions to the band's catalog, and does the service of finally making both sides of The Gist's first 7" 45 (recorded at the same session as the final YMG single) available again, along with their contribution to the Rough Trade/NME classic compilation C81, and in keeping with The Gist's tradition, at least one song on which Stuart does not appear.

SHIELDING Collecting Seaweed EP 12"
Swedish producer Shielding lands on Facta and K-LONE's Wisdom Teeth imprint with an extended collection of hazy dub techno, drone, and downtempo. With previous releases on Kimochi and Leif's UntilMyHeartStops imprint (as Okänd Konstnär), Collecting Seaweed EP is the artist's fullest body of work to date, comprising six tracks cherrypicked from a vast set of recordings produced over the last two years. The record's pulse recalls Basic Channel and the clicks-n-cuts of Jan Jelinek and SND, but its textures are loose and painterly. Looping, pulsating textures sprawl out to create rejuvenating, emotive soundscapes. Patterns repeat, but no two strokes are the same.
