BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE, THE Don't Get Lost CD
Don't Get Lost was fully recorded and produced at Anton Newcombe's new Cobra Studio in Berlin. It is the 16th full length release from The Brian Jonestown Massacre. It was recorded from March 2016 to October 2016 with band members Ricky Maymi, Dan Allaire, Collin Hegna, and Ryan Van Kriedt. Saxophonist Emil Nikolaisen, from the Norwegian band Serena-Maneesh, joins the band, and there are vocal performances from Tim Burgess (Charlatans), Tess Parks, and Shaun Rivers. A new dynamic is heard on Don't Get Lost, mixing a shoegaze and psychedelic sound with more experimental twists on some tracks you might hear from Public Image Limited's Metalbox (1979), Primal Scream , or even Ornette Coleman. 14 tracks that will twist-and-turn through the known, and the unknown, Brian Jonestown Massacre. Anton Newcombe has been a very busy man these past two years, kicking off with the critically acclaimed Brian Jonestown Massacre album Revelation in May 2014 (AUK 030CD/LP). After a successful UK and European tour, the BJM followed this up with the + - EP in November of the same year (AUK 031EP). 2015 saw the release of Musique de film imaginé in April (AUK 032CD/LP); an imaginary film soundtrack album featuring the track "Bonbon" which has, ironically, been used in Dheepan, the Palme d'Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival of 2015. In June, Anton and Tess Parks embarked on a well-received tour of the UK and Europe to support the release of I Declare Nothing (AUK 120CD/LP). Anton finished 2015 with a BJM mini-album release entitled Mini Album Thingy Wingy (AUK 033-10, 033CD/LP). In 2016, the band released two singles and the critically-acclaimed Third World Pyramid (AUK 036CD/LP). The band have been touring the world since November 2015, playing Australia, New Zealand, and then, in 2016, USA, Canada, Europe, Chile, and Argentina.

RUSSELL, ARTHUR Instrumentals 2LP
"Remastered double LP with 12 page booklet including liner notes by Tim Lawrence, Ernie Brooks and Arthur Russell. All material previously released on the Audika CD compilation First Thought Best Thought (2006). Before disco, and before the transcendent echoes, Arthur wanted to be a composer. His journey began in 1972, leaving home in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Heading west to Northern California, Arthur studied Indian classical composition at the Ali Akbar Khan College of Music followed by western orchestral music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, before ending two years later in New York at the Manhattan School of Music. Traversing the popular and the serious, Arthur composed Instrumentals in 1974, inspired by the photography of his Buddhist teacher, Yuko Nonomura, as Arthur described, 'I was awakened, or re-awakened to the bright-sound and magical qualities of the bubblegum and easy-listening currents in American popular music.' Initially intended to be performed in one 48 hour cycle, Instrumentals was in fact only performed in excerpts a handful of times as a work in progress. The legendary performances captured live in New York at The Kitchen (1975 and 1978) and Franklin St. Arts Center (1977) feature the cream of that eras downtown new music scene including Ernie Brooks, Rhys Chatham, Julius Eastman, Jon Gibson, Peter Gordon, Garrett List, Andy Paley, Bill Ruyle, Dave Van Tieghem, and Peter Zummo. Pitchfork lauded Instrumentals Vol. 1 as a masterpiece and one of Arthur's 'greatest achievements'. Americana touching on Copeland, Ives, and maybe even Brian Wilson. Instrumentals Vol. 2 is a moving, deeply pastoral work performed by the CETA Orchestra and conducted by Julius Eastman. Also included are two of Arthur's most elusive compositions, 'Reach One', and 'Sketch For Face Of Helen'. Recorded live in 1975 at Phill Niblock's Experimental Intermedia Foundation, 'Reach One' is a minimal, hypnotic ambient soundscape written and performed for two Fender Rhodes pianos. 'Sketch For Face Of Helen' was inspired by Arthur's work with friend and composer Arnold Dreyblatt, recorded with an electronic tone generator, keyboard and ambient recordings of a rumbling tugboat from the Hudson River. For this remastered vinyl edition, a key part of Arthur's musical life has been restored. The sparkling, multidimensional results take the listener closer to Arthur's coast-to-coast journey: his iconoclastic determination to combine pop and art music; and his desire to make music that would resonate in the present and, ultimately, across time."

BREAKBOT By Your Side 2LP+CD
2017 repress with CD added. Ed Banger's newest and brightest star Breakbot aka Thibaut Berland announces his debut album By Your Side. Having delighted dancefloors around the world with his infectious discoid funk of "Baby I'm Yours" and "Fantasy," and killer re-rubs for Justice and Metronomy, amongst others, "One Out of Two" is the first single to be taken from this multi-instrumentalist's debut -- crammed with soulful robo-disco and emotive ballads, By Your Side conjures up the ghosts of the Doobie Brothers, Todd Rundgren and Hall And Oates, as well as the nostalgic TV themes to Silver Spoons or Punky Brewster. Berland explains : "My elder brothers had a huge influence on me when was a kid. David, the oldest, introduced me to soul, funk and pop, making me tapes of Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Madonna, Phil Collins, and many other things. I remember spending lots of time in his bedroom listening to his records." In later years the likes of Air, Alex Gopher, Mr. Oizo and of course, Daft Punk were on heavy rotation for Thibaut -- this heady mélange of all of the above helping to create the Breakbot sound. It was Berland's intention to make an album that rewards you for listening to it as a whole: "I guess you could say my album is more an album of pop songs than a Berlin techno record, with water drop sounds in it -- I wanted to make a pop journey that would have all my influences, without being a reference catalog." From the opening perfect slice of retro/future summer funk "Break of Dawn," it's clear that this has to be one of 2012's funkiest albums. "Fantasy" features the vocals of L.A.-based vocalist Ruckazoid -- an astonishing discovery whose honeyed pipes are a dead ringer for the late, lamented King Of Pop. Four tracks, including "One Out of Two" features Irfane's irresistible vocals. Björn from Pacific! sings on the glorious "By Your Side (Pt 1 & 2)."

EL MICHELS AFFAIR Tearz/Verbal Intercourse 7"
"El Michels Affair releases another flawless two sider to hold us over. Side A's cover of 'Tearz' is as much an homage to the Wendy Rene sample as it is to the Wu-Tang Clan track. The song starts as a glazed over cover of 'after laughter, comes tears' with Shannon Wise of The Shacks singing Wendy Rene's timeless mantra. Halfway through, the mood dramatically shifts and the drums and organ that drive the original RZA sample, take over. A dubbed out Lee Fields taps in like only he can, and the song spirals into outer space. Side B finds EMA dipping into the deeper side of the Wu catalog with Raekwon's 'Verbal Intercourse'. Mixing the grimy, gritty production aesthetic of the original with elements of dubbed out reggae, El Michels Affair once again pushes the definition of a 'cover' and truly makes it a tune of their own."

VIROT, FRANCOIS Marginal Spots CD
French musician François Virot present his second solo album, Marginal Spots, following his acclaimed 2008 debut, Yes Or No. That album's lo-fi pop-folk won Virot praise for his staggering melodies and nervous urgency, earning comparisons to artists like Animal Collective. In the wake of its reception, Virot found himself dragged out of the invisibility of Lyon's squats and rushed hastily on stage. He was expected to give his opinion, but no one realized how unprepared he was. He had crafted his songs for himself, the hard way -- for such a hyperactive artist, versed in songwriting since childhood, naiveté was not a ploy, and DIY is not a fancy gadget. As Virot recalls, "The first time they dimmed the lights at one of my concerts, I didn't understand what was going on. I came on stage, everyone cheered. I needed to change a string, so I said so, and the crowd answered by applauding once again. I changed my string, I finished my beer, 10 minutes had passed, the lights were still on me. People found the scene delightful, they were laughing hysterically. For me, it was hell. There have been many moments such as this one." Two years after his debut, in 2010, Virot appeared on the credits of two of the most beautiful records of the year. The first, Comfortable Problems by the trio the Clara Clara, put to shame every claimant to Deerhoof's throne, with Virot showcasing his rowdy yet precise drumming skills and chanting in a world somewhere between happy hardcore and subtle power pop. The second, Time And Death by the duo Reveille, was as touching, addictive, and imperfect as a collection of demos from The Evens. Now, following the 2016 release of Clara Clara's third album, Bugarach, Virot returns to his solo work with an album that is as much a realization of his obsessions (colorful drums, catchy but devious melodies, referential tangles including The Police, The Ex, Joe Dassin . . .) as a declaration of independence from indie pop laws. As Virot puts it, "Lately I haven't been able to find any record without reverb effects, or a band that doesn't use a chorus pedal or some recorded material live. It annoyed me. Music-making should not be about composing the most beautiful thing there is. You need to catch a glimpse of what's inside, hear an actual human being sing and play." Marginal Spots is François Virot at his core, oblivious to the illusion of success, directly plugged into his heartbeat.

ULAN BATOR Stereolith CD
In today's increasingly barren rock and roll landscape, Ulan Bator stand as beacons of explorative songwriting. Formed in Paris in 1993 by Amaury Cambuzat (vocals, guitar and keyboards) and Olivier Manchion (bass), the band's atmospheric approach to composition has consistently yielded guitar-driven, avant-rock at once hypnotic and untamed. And while their sound has developed in a variety of directions - often in relationship to changing line-ups and various collaborations, including with Faust and Swans' Michael Gira - Ulan Bator resist simple categorization: kraut-y repetition, post-rock guitar flourishes and kosmische synth work have all taken an audible lead throughout their now twenty-year career. Stereolith sees band mainstay Cambuzat continuing on in a tradition of experimental rock and roll, projected through a contemporary prism of electronics and synthesizers. Cambuzat pieced together the band's 12th album on his laptop before eventually re-recording individual parts in the studio. The result is a crisp sound that resists typical psych and experimental clichés of washed-out and contourless improvisation. The songs on Stereolith achieve a grand, looming presence despite their relatively short lengths. While Stereolith's longest and most obvious genre-nod "NeuNeu" clocks at a pleasantly meandering five-and-half minutes and features guitar work reminiscent of Michael Rother, most of the songs are under four, with dream-like atmospheres established from the beginning. An excellent example is "Blue Girl", which opens with deep sustained piano, gongs, and industrial bleeps before exploding into a playful post rock groove that plays off Popol Vuh-like synth vamps. That quality continues on album standout "Ego Trip", sung by Cambuzat in both French and English. The song's various melodies - played on harpischord, chorus bass, guitar - shift over a steady chord progression to create a glorious interweaving. Cambuzat's non-native approach to writing in English, like that of Björk or Damo Suzuki, borders on the surreal. "I lost myself in a spinach can," he murmurs on "Spinach Can", evoking a lysergic-tinged scene from an episode of Popeye. By the end of the slow, dirge-like final bursts of album closer "Dust", it becomes clear that in Cambuzat's world, the dark, the light and the strange are comfortable bedfellows. It's an atmospheric ménages-a-trois that occasionally pushes beyond the boundaries of taste and coolness into vaguely new-age-y and adult contemporary territory. As the singer said in a recent interview, "The music is best listened to in a 3D pyramid, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean."

XAO SEFFCHEQUE Ja - Nein - Vielleicht Kommt Sehr Gut: A Selection Of Electronic Beats 1980-82 CD
Austrian national Xaõ Seffcheque was at the right place at the right time: Düsseldorf at the end of the '70s was not only the nucleus of German punk, but it also enjoyed a fruitful symbiosis with the parallel development of a synthesizer-supported side-line. However, in historical retrospective, forty years after the punk big-bang and 35 years after the electronic substitute-revolution in Germany, there is the question: What impact did Palais Schaumburg, Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft, Liaisons Dangereuses or Der Plan expect from their music? Objet d'art? Material for archaeologists? Xaõ Seffcheque's music - same, but different later on with Family*5 - was all that and more: Always great everyday stuff to listen to is still the object of engagement and discourse because of its impact and the marks it left behind. This compilation, Xaõ Seffcheque's electronic phase in the early '80s from both his albums Sehr Gut Kommt Sehr Gut (1981) and Ja - Nein - Vielleicht (1981), plus unreleased tracks from 1982, comes in two parts: The songs of Sehr Gut Kommt Sehr Gut are always satire, persiflage, paraphrase altogether: Reflecting his contemporaries with '80s analog equipment, this discourse always adds something new and unheard of. The fact that Seffcheque released that (fake) album as an anticipation of the Neue Deutsche Welle sell-out did shape those songs audibly by deconstructing the music of essential German bands at that time in order to reassemble them in a very sarcastic way and into a whole new context. Whereas the following album, Ja - Nein - Vielleicht was of a very different kind and Diederich Diederichsen, the pope-of-pop, had this to say about Seffcheque's sequencer-meets-jazz-onomatopoetic-scat-vocals-meet-guitar-riffs in Sounds Magazine: "Xaõ Seffcheque has made his first music-record without any jokes, quotations and 'Kulturkritik'. Music instead of cabaret. A lot of Düsseldorf 'negro-music' with an excellent brass section and vocal effects: A winningly distorted Louis Armstrong song, a modern march-funk-pogo piece with scat vocals of a digital age, ethereous, intense experiments (in the title song Xao pleases with foreign stammering and in 'Du Und Ich' with a girls choir from the next best solar system. In brief: a very modern record bordering on rock and disco. Defiant. Sorrowful. Tough." Bureau B present here a restored and remastered compilation of Xao's best songs from his solo phase. Cover photo by Richie Gleim, taken during a recording session in 1981. Furious non-chalance, regardless-of-the-consequences lunacy, and indestructible musical talent.

DOME LA MUERTE E.X.P. Lazy Sunny Day CD
Dome La Muerte E.X.P. is the new project of Dome La Muerte, aka Domenico Petrosino. Cult character and guru of Italian rock n' roll, Dome was a founding member in 1979 of the Italian precursors of hardcore-punk, CCM (Cheetah Chrome Motherfuckers). In the '80s, he was in the band Not Moving and then, in the following decade, he played in Hush and he composed tracks that ended up in the Italian cyberpunk science fiction film directed by Gabriele Salvatores, Nirvana (1997). To understand his caliber, he has shared the stage with The Clash, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Johnny Thunders's Heartbreakers, The Fuzztones and Iggy Pop. This new project is the son of his first solo recording experience Poems For Renegades (2011), which contained a highly psychedelic-folk matrix; they were thrown as the first seeds for Lazy Sunny Day (or more briefly, LSD), produced by Cinedelic and Godown records. Lazy Sunny Day, unlike Poems For Renegades, was recorded and arranged with a band, E.X.P.. The sound is mostly instrumental and it's lysergically inspired by spaghetti western soundtracks, the beat generation, India, the hippie movement, and expansion of consciousness, comes with a deep respect and admiration to the culture and spirituality of Native Americans. The formation of E.X.P., with Dome La Muerte on guitar and vocals, includes: Luca Valdambrini (organ, guitar, backing vocals) from Surfer Joe And His Boss Combo and Pam And Pipelines, where he also played bass and contributed backing vocals as Alessandro Quaglierini, and Emiliano Giuliani (drums) formerly of Liars and a member of the original line-up of The Diggers. Also features: Lu Silver - harp on "L.S.D. (Little Sun Dose)"; Cristina Rovini - flute on "Amsterdam 66". "Sick City" was written by Charles Manson; "Eternal Door" was written by Not Moving.

TREPANERINGSRITUALEN Deathward, To The Womb CD
Trepaneringsritualen's long out of print debut release, Deathward, To The Womb (2012) finally sees a proper reissue. An invocation not so much of Babalon herself, but of the tormented elemental of Frater T.O.P.A.N., and his fervent attempts to usher in the Æon of Horus. In the lyrics - based on the texts of Frater T.O.P.A.N. on the Babalon Working - the perilous flame that is Babalon is called upon to ravage creation. She is asked to scorch the earth clean for the coming cosmic renovation. The Eternal Virgin would spring from Her womb. From Her love, the new divine man would be born. 70 years after the Bablon Working was deemed successfully concluded, its utter failure is painfully apparent. "All love songs are of me" She says. This is certainly true of the first five songs of Deathward, To The Womb. The final songs, "All Hail The Black Flame", seem different altogether. In this guise, Babalon brings not solely love, but cataclysm; a holocaust brought upon the domain of Man. Manifested as the Black Flame, She reaches from a time before time, formless chaos, and rips apart the very fabric of the created worlds. Such is Her nature: two opposing principles; that of the nurturing mother, and that of the callous destroyer. "She is flame of life, power of darkness - She destroys with a glance - She may take thy soul. She feeds upon the death of men." Babalon was summoned at Winter Solstice 2015 under the sign of n, with assistance from Alone In The Hollow Garden, A.I.L of Arktau Eos, Michael Idehall, KzR of Bölzer, Nÿland ii of Hadewych, and Æther. To destroy and to give life. This ritual has concluded and was successful. Appended to the six original songs is a specially commissioned 12 minutes and 57 seconds long ritual work entitled "I Remember When I Was God", and attributed to Teeraal Räum Pheynix.

LA BREICHE Le Mal Des Ardents CD
La Breiche ("the witch") features two well-known musicians: Arexis and Lafforgue of Stille Volk - a band best known since 1994 as one of the pioneers of Pagan Folk in Europe - and of the Pagan Black French band Sus Scrofa. Le Mal Des Ardents ("Holy Fire") is a concept album about fears, terrors, about the balance between folklore and reason, myth and common sense, light and darkness, past and present, modernity and archaism. The album marries minimalism, purity, a fine approach and ancient instruments: traditional music (hurdy-gurdy, shawm, polyphonies, percussion, gongs); the gloom of oppressive dark ambient; the slow pace of ritual music, wavering between modernity and archaism. Voices rise towards beauty, lifting it away from some occult mud. Le Mal Des Ardents takes the listener back to a forgotten world, a primal, ancient, wild and free world, pervaded by secret dances of sorcerers, unfathomable forests, remote and lifeless places. SKULLFLOWER The Spirals of Great Harm 2CD
The Spirals of Great Harm is the new sprawling double disc from black noise classicists Skullflower - referencing Inferno XVII, Dante and Virgil's spiraling descent into the abyss on demon Geryon. Full of harsh beauty and hymns for lost Albions, battle songs against the homogenization of modern "lyfe" - fuck the new estate! Skullflower on The Spirits of Great Harm: "Hedgerows, tapestries, dream woods, dragon lands. After Draconis (CSR 190CD, 2014), we have been released to roam through the multiverse, fashioning trinkets and ornaments from jewelled sounds, and leaving them as waymarkers on our astral travels. We seem to be circling, encountering familiar territories, yet always changed, because these circles, from a true perspective; are all part of a great averse spiral, our pattern, our map, which is the terrain itself. You will hear hints and echoes of native keening, lush prog romanticism, and the charcoal textures of noise, but all subsumed within our alchemy, the unmistakable wellspring of sound that is SF." SJOB MOVEMENT Friendship Train CD
"SJOB Movement's Friendship Train was the second LP by the group and one which saw the group rise to new heights. It's a masterpiece of African music with its fluid Afro beat grooves and spaced out Moog synthesizer sounds. Here is an excerpt from the liner notes written and researched by Uchenna Ikonne: 'Prince Bola Agbana might hardly be the most immediately recognizable name in the constellation of Nigerian music stars, but for a significant portion of the last half-century he labored in the shadows, dutifully serving as one of the key movers in its development: An in-demand session musician. An early and respected exponent of funk. A catalyst in the retrofit of juju into a modern pop genre. Most of all, though, he is recognized as the founder, leader, drummer and principal vocalist of the SJOB Movement. SJOB: Sam, Johnnie, Ottah, Bola. For a moment in the mid-1970s, they were le dernier cri in modern Nigerian music, representing the next step in the evolution of Afro rhythms, and a new paradigm for the band economy. Their first album, 1976's A Move in the Right Direction, was a minor sensation and was swiftly followed by Friendship Train in 1977. Then it appeared that the movement stopped moving, and SJOB disappeared from the scene."

OVO Creatura CD
Creatura, the new album by OvO, comes to life as a mutant entity after a long period of gestation. It is an album whose originality is monstrous and colossal, a natural evolution of which OvO expressed on Abisso (2013). They have explored the possibility of intersections between extreme rock and electronica, digging deep, and now they come out with this protean birth which renders them once again uncategorizable, on the outside of any scene or framework. Even the artwork reflects the path marked by the sound of the album, inspired by ancient and timeless symbols and iconography, by alchemical sigils of divination cards, yet with an original and identifying style. It all came from an idea from Stefania Pedretti, translated by the hands of Coito Negato, aka Stefano Matteoli, a Tuscan illustrator and frequent collaborator with Dio Drone. For the release, OvO bet on the recently established label, which best represents the new and contemporary way of making noise and the new way of "do it yourself". OvO find themselves at the beginning of their seventeenth year of activity with very clear ideas and a will to surf a fluid contemporary state, raising new complexities and refusing to conform. The only thing which remains undismayed is their live appearances; The band are on the brink of thousands of concerts all over the world. Creatura was recorded by Lorenzo Stecconi in a barn normally used by theater companies and mixed by the testosteronic hands of Giulio Favero and polished off with mastering by Giovanni Versari. In addition to vocals and guitar, Stefania Pedretti also captured some field recordings during OvO's tour in Vietnam. Bruno Dorella took on his usual role of playing his few pieces of drums, synth and drum machine programming and samples assembled by Dorella and Garaliya (or rather Morkobot), Riccardo Gamondi (Uochi Toki), Stefano Ghittoni (Dining Rooms), a034 and Reeks (Surgical Beat Bros, No Hay Banda Trio, Germanotta Youth). In composing the pieces, OvO used some of the methodologies of electronic music. In particular, all of the base tracks of percussion and samples were first played live and then resampled, choosing loops in such a way as to reproduce the mechanical aspect typical of electronica. On top of this, Stefania added her infernal world of guitar and voice, dividing both into many layers with diverse overdubs to create this monster.

SCIENTIST The Untouchable CD
Hopeton Overton Brown, aka Scientist, is a true legend. He took dub reggae to a completely different level. Trained and mentored by the late, great, lamented King Tubby, he blew the scene into smithereens with his knowledge, skill and complete understanding of the mixing desk. His new album, The Untouchable, is a really great collaboration with some of the best artists of the international reggae scene: Tippa Irie, Rod Taylor, Sabrina Pallini, Da Real Storm, Dubiterian, Ilhame Paris, Jacin, Kelli Love. Scientist's The Untouchable is a concept of reintroducing rhythms produced by Bunny Lee from the '70s and some rhythms produce by The Scientist from the '80s, by introducing some new school artists alongside the old school to preserve the power of dub reggae music. No matter where you are, this music has the power to cross borders, to soothe your heart and soul and make you feel alive.

HINTON AND THE NIGHTHAWKS, EDDIE Rose's Cantina Atlanta '79 CD
Considered by many to be the world's best blue-eyed soul singer, Eddie Hinton wrote, produced, arranged, and played on one more classic records than many realize. His guitar is heard on albums by Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, Bobby Womack, Dusty Springfield, and countless other iconic greats, and while he's not as well known by name, his contribution to music will never be forgotten. This 1979 recording finds him guesting with the legendary Nighthawks at Rose's Cantina in Atlanta, Georgia. It's an extravaganza of pumped-up soul and R&B, with broken strings and adrenaline, down to the bone, presented here in its entirety as originally broadcast on WLIR-FM. Professionally remastered sound; includes background liners, interviews, and rare archival photos.

CIULLINI, DANIELE Domestic Exile Collected Works 82-86 LP
2017 repress, originally released in 2015. Ecstatic resuscitate Daniele Ciullini's "sonic polaroids" of odder '80s pop, drone, and drum machine workouts in the detached dimensions of Domestic Exile: Collected Works 82-86. Compiling the Florentine artist's standout '83 cassette plus a whole other side of compilation obscurities on vinyl for the first time, it presents a series of brilliant, isolated self-portraits by a mail art and tape scene insider (also photographer, zine publisher) who operated on the periphery of electro-industrial and ambient zones. His music is little known outside of Italy, so all credit is due to Alessio Natalizia for bringing his wide-ranging and prescient work to a broader audience here. As Ciullini's pal and bandmate in The Cop Killers (along with Masami Akita, no less), Vittore Baroni states on the liner notes that Domestic Exile was produced when Ciullini was in his late 20s and therefore possesses a more measured, mature approach than many of his contemporaries who were also scrabbling around similar sounds. Using the instantly identifiable Boss DR-55 and Roland TR 606 drum machines, plus a 303, Fender Stratocaster Electric, and Yamaha CD-5 fed direct to TEAC tape deck, these are beautifully concise, dynamic glimpses of a sharpened mind at work, proving equally adept at nipping shifty industrial drum patterns as well as brooding proto-shoegaze with "Soft Marble", or European synth expressions like "Flowers in the Water". A massive recommendation for fans of Chris Carter's The Spaces Between (1980), early The Human League or John Bender. Compiled by Not Waving. Edition of 500.

JUSTICE Access All Arenas (2017 Edition) 2LP+CD
Limited 2017 release of Justice's Access All Arenas, originally released in 2013. Ten years ago, "We Are Your Friends" pushed Justice to the front of the scene, a young French duo signed by Pedro Winter on the label he had just created: Ed Banger Records. The record that followed in 2007, Cross (BEC 5772110), was an album of condensed jerky electro, disco reminiscences, and heavy metal energy, with unstoppable tunes like "D.A.N.C.E.", "Stress", and "Phantom", and its videos, allowed Justice to follow the '90s French touch and its filtered disco loop. Since the release of their debut album in 2007, Justice has been tirelessly touring the world by bus, road festival to festival and concerts all over the planet. Since their first tour, the band developed a powerful stage design that they polished and magnified throughout the years and the gigs. The wall of vintage Marshall amps front of the stage, an imposing cross, impressive light shows, and the sound of Justice totally revisited for the live shows. Limited 2017 edition features new packaging including: Gatefold sleeve; double vinyl; Poster 60x30; CD.

HECKER A Script For Machine Synthesis CD
The latest work from Florian Hecker, A Script For Machine Synthesis, is an experimental auditory drama and a model of abstraction. A Script For Machine Synthesis presents a complex simplicity that spirals in an unending manner as an audio image of the uncanny valley. It is the third chapter in a trilogy of text-sound pieces in which Hecker has collaborated with the philosopher Reza Negarestani. A resynthesized voice outlines procedure as procedure itself unfolds. The suggestive encounter with a pink ice cube is a conceptual point of departure for a scene in which linguistic chimeras of descriptors are materialized through synthetic trophies, mental props and auditory objects. Hecker presents a synthesis of the gap in the valley which the listener almost knows. The motifs Hecker has staged in the last decade - the text, the sound, the scent, the obelisk, the demon, the self, the other - all appear throughout in a thorough, rigid and formal exploration. Exeunt all human actors, A Script For Machine Synthesis is an experiment in putting synthetic emptiness back into synthetic thought.

CALL SUPER Fabric 92 CD
Call Super, aka JR Seaton, presents a continuous mix for the 92nd installment of the Fabric's mix series. In a few years, Call Super's versatility has marked the London born DJ and producer as one of the brightest new lights on the electronic music landscape. His rise has been steady and remarkable, reinforced at every stage with music that draws on a panoply of influences. The son of a New Orleans jazz clarinetist, his curiosity for music was driven by a childhood playing Spanish guitar and the piano before being anointed as a teenager into the London club scene. For JR Seaton, this mix is highly personal; it eschews the common computer based approach and gives the listener a snapshot of a misty reality of the late hours once peak time has begun to fade. Seaton said this about the mix, "This isn't about getting beat upside the head, this is us dreaming in the dawn." Call Super was the first artist to be signed to Fabric's artist-led Houndstooth label. Packaged in bespoke slipcase containing die-embossed tin. BERTRAMI AND HIS MODERN SOUND, JOSE ROBERTO Aventura CD
2009 release. Legendary keyboardist José Roberto Bertrami (Zé Roberto) brings quirky '60s soundtracks and infectious '80s grooves to 12 brand new recordings on Aventura. Showcasing 45 sweeping years in music, Azymuth's band leader delivers an innovative set of jazz, cinematic scores, funk and true Latin anthems. Latin Grammy nominee Zé Roberto brings together the Rio Strings Orchestra and the very best Brazilian players on these stunning live recordings. Direct from Rio de Janeiro, Bertrami's enduring passion and creativity combine to create a seminal solo collection. Aventura sees Zé Roberto record songs more personal and often with a more Western influenced sound. Bertrami's choice of musicians sets this recording apart: David Brinkworth (Harmonic 33) travelled to Rio from the UK with executive producer Joe Davis (Far Out Recordings founder) to record the live sessions. With nods to his Aventura heritage, newer trends emerging from Rio, and Bertrami's grand vision, this more than fulfilled Davis's hunger for a unique old school record drawing upon Zé Roberto's reams of unreleased and unrecorded scores. After five days spent with Brinkworth, picking the very best tracks, Bertrami bossed the studio, full of energy and enduring passion to deliver a set of the highest quality. The result is an authentic jazz record that draws in tropical vibes and American influences to create the perfect slice of his music culture. Aventura is Bertrami's seventh album under his own steam following on from his previous solo effort for Far Out Recordings, 2001's Things Are Different (FARO 053CD, 2001). Aventura smoothly moves between classic piano led jazz, to almost psychedelic electric guitar that darts around Bertrami's instantly recognizable Rhodes, organ, keyboard scores and improvisations. Features Andy Votel's exceptional madcap artwork.

MALHEIROS, SABRINA Dreaming CD
2011 release. Dreaming, the third original studio album from Rio's nu-bossa star, Sabrina Malheiros, combines the minimal electronic soul inspired sound of her debut Equilibria (2005) with the sweeping organic Brazilian pop of New Morning (FARO 131, 2008) and traditional sounds of Brazil. Linking past and present Malheiros mixes seductive styles to create a truly original sound for the future. Dreaming is her finest work yet confirming Malheiros as one of the finest female Brazilian songwriters of her generation. Featuring leading Brazilian musicians including Alex Malheiros (Azymuth); Jesse Sadoc (Marcos Valle); Alfredo Cardim (Joyce); Robertinho Silva (Milton Nascimento) and written and co-produced with Sabrina by partner Daniel 'Venom' Maunick (Viper Squad) the record finds a beautiful place between nu-Rio, classic Brazil, and the complex melodic electronic music emerging from the post-dubstep and post-drum & bass London soundscape. As the daughter of Alex Malheiros, bass player of legendary Brazilian group Azymuth, Sabrina was born to sing bossa nova and write ground-breaking music. Her classical contemporary Brazilian blend takes a number of surprising routes. On "Fragil", Sabrina employs renowned samba percussionist Robertinho Silva to deliver her delicate take on Brazil's African routes. "Bobeira" is a breezy chill-out while its "Digital Dreaming Reprise" opener adds Maunick's deep beats and addictive synths - those warping lines continuing flawlessly in to the following tracks. Sabrina's special pattern for writing music (alone, with her father Alex and partner Daniel) brings recurring chords and sequences with a huge variety of influences and ideas. Sabrina shows just how far this writing talent stretches as she arks back to '70s Brazil with the dreamy acid-folk "Lirio De Venus (Interlude)" before bringing things right in to modern electronic-era with big dub bass, scratching together with trademark soft acoustic guitar and harmonies on "Paranoia". Altogether, Malheiros's third full-length record is a lyrical and melodic dream to take her star far higher.

AZYMUTH Light As A Feather CD
2012 release. Far Out Recordings present a reissue of Azymuth's Light As A Feather, originally released in 1979. Four decades on and Azymuth have reached legendary status amongst fans worldwide and across the music industry thanks to the trio's pioneering blend of traditional Brazilian jazz and proto funk fusion from the early '70s right through to the present day. In 1979, the band's first Milestone Records release, Light As A Feather quickly became one of the best-selling LPs of the year. Featuring the worldwide disco/fusion hit single "Jazz Carnival" and going on to sell more than half a million copies internationally, the album stayed in the UK Top 20 for eight straight weeks. An incredibly well thought out album both in pace, song selection and musicality, Light As A Feather marked a maturing of the band as they began to rightfully utilize the studio as an instrument itself, embracing numerous mixing and recording techniques not yet common for the time as well as pioneering the use of the Big Muff and Dolby System to great effect. The end result is an album that endures to this day as a jazz funk masterpiece. Far Out Recordings present this seminal recording remixed and remastered from the original tapes. Featuring previously unreleased tracks and remixes from house stalwarts Theo Parrish, Ashley Beedle, Mark E and Yam Who?, this definitive edition of Azymuth's breakthrough LP is a must-have for connoisseurs and an invaluable introduction to the Azymuth sound for the uninitiated.

DAGLEY, MARK Collected Works 1978-2016 LP
"Mark Dagley, although largely focusing on his visual art for the last many years, is a musician whose work has always intrigued us. We already issued some of his work with The Girls (FTR 220LP, 2015), Hi Sheriffs Of Blue (FTR 093LP, 2014) and Marianne Nowottny (FTR 221LP, 2015). Now, here's Collected Works, only the second album issued under his own name. We had bugged Mark for a good long while about digging up the tapes for the 'Shut It Up/Gossip Crowd' single he'd done back in '79 (immediately precursing the Hi Sheriffs), and when he transferred that material to cassette, he included some newly unearthed electronic work done at the same time he was working with The Girls. The stuff was great, collapsing waves of splendid analog murk, so we immediately requested a full album of 'solo' material. The resulting set spans almost 40 years of work and ranges from experimental blues explosions for solo guitar to drone-oriented electronics, transcriptions for a mechanical music box, and the splutzo No Wave kuck we had originally asked about. It documents four decades of strange invention, carried out almost fully beyond the view of the record buying public. It's a lucky break for you that we had the moral fiber to bring this mother to ground. It's an amazing and mysterious listen from first note to last." --Byron Coley, 2017.

DOMINATRIX The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight LP
2017 edition. "The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight has a long and storied history among connoisseurs of '80s New York dance music. Combining catchy, deadpan synth-pop and classic '80s electro hallmarks with the provocative edge of leather-and-lace sex culture, it remains a worldwide dancefloor staple to this day. Despite its popularity, little has been known about the song's background. The brainchild of producer Stuart Argabright (nee Arbright, a member of the groups Ike Yard and Death Comet Crew); alongside DJ and remixer Ivan Ivan; Kenneth Lockie (from Cowboys International, and early Death Comet Crew); and vocalist Claudia Summers; the song's dominating female subject was based on a person whom Arbright had dated. The song -- and a banned-by-MTV video that today could be mistaken for a Victoria's Secret commercial -- became a club smash at famed Danceteria and other urban meccas. But, despite some leather-clad live dates in 1984, the group itself was short-lived. This special Get On Down vinyl edition is sure to be coveted by fans and collectors. Beyond four original mixes of the song (12", Chants, Dominant and Beat Me) that fans know and love -- this full-length LP includes the newly unearthed song 'Play It Safe' and the rarely heard, hypnotic 'City That Never Sleeps,' in addition to the rare 1984 'Scratch Mix' of the original title song, with cuts by the legendary DJ Red Alert. The deluxe vinyl package is accompanied by a 16-page glossy booklet with text by writer Dave Tompkins and input from Argabright and Ivan Ivan. Additionally, fans will be thrilled into submission by visuals and press clips relating to the original release on Arthur Baker's Street Wise Records; the song's provocative video; as well as the dominatrix culture in New York City at the time which inspired this unlikely smash hit."

"Unreleased early Algerian synth electronic by Ahmed Malek, compiled and co-produced by Flako. In the early 1980s, Ahmed Malek was already in his 50s, when he discovered synthesizers and electronic music for himself and started to experiment with sounds. The result was a mixture of ambient synth music, field recordings he made in Cuba and a wide variation of different sound experiments that he also presented as different avanguarde music festivals in Cuba and the US. None of it was ever released but we got a huge box of master tapes from his family and we're happy to present this different side of Ahmed Malek's music. It was compiled and co-produced by Flako, a fan of early electronic and synth music. This is not a remix album though, Flako's aim was to create an album out of 2 hours of material that sounds like it might have if Mr. Malek would have finished it himself before of his death. Fully approved and licensed from the artists family. The album comes with an informative booklet with liner notes, an interview with Flako regarding his approach towards the production and unseen photos. OLIVERI, NICK N.O. Hits At All Vol. 1 CD
Nick Steven Oliveri from Palm Desert, California, is most widely known as a bassist with Kyuss, Queens Of The Stone Age, and The Dwarves, and has also performed with the reunited Kyuss under the names Kyuss Lives! and Vista Chino. As a bandleader, his main project is Mondo Generator, a punk/metal hybrid that he formed in 1997. Oliveri began his career in 1987 with John Garcia, Brant Bjork, Josh Homme and Chris Cockrell, with the band Katzenjammer. In early 1989, after Oliveri's departure to play in other bands, the band would change its name to Sons Of Kyuss, later shortening the name to Kyuss. He later rejoined the band, playing on Wretch (1991) and Blues For The Red Sun (1992). Oliveri would leave Kyuss again in early 1992, shortly after his father died in a car accident. He joined The Dwarves as an on-again-off-again bassist under the moniker Rex Everything. However, he is perhaps best known as a member of Queens Of The Stone Age from 1998 -2004. Oliveri is also a solo artist and frequent contributor to his friends' albums and tours, including Winnebago Deal, Mark Lanegan Band, Masters Of Reality, Turbonegro, Moistboyz, and The Knives. In the past he has been involved with The Desert Sessions Vol. 4 and Vol. 6. Oliveri is known for playing bare-chested and sometimes naked at gigs. Most memorably, he was arrested in Brazil, after performing nude on stage at the Rock in Rio festival in Rio de Janeiro. He is also one half of the acoustic duo The Uncontrollable, with The Dwarves frontman Blag Dahlia. Nick Oliveri: "This record is Volume One of a series of compilations in which I recorded the vocals. Bands that I like and bands that like my singing voice enough to have asked me to 'guest vocal' on a song for their records. Some of these have been released and some have not until now. I have sung and/or recorded bass on 50+ releases of bands I love and had the great honor to work with. The good folks at Heavy Psych Sounds are releasing a series called N.O. Hits At All. Now for the first time, all these songs and bands I've recorded with over the past 25 years are together and available to you to trip out on." Features songs from: Komatsu, Death Acoustic, Winnebago Deal, Svetlanas, and Ken Pustelnik's Groundhogs.

The Clamps are a three-piece speed-stoner rock n' roll band formed in northern Italy around 2012. Made up by former members of local punk, metal and alternative rock bands, The Clamps started to hit the road a few months later for plenty of shows in Italy and Europe, where they shared the stage with bands such as The Sewergrooves, Nashville Pussy, Pontiac, Valient Thorr, Wild Eyes, Valley Of The Sun, Black Tusk, and more. The Clamps squeeze stoner, speed-rock, punk and rock n'roll into a well-recognizable, no-frills, fat and fuzzy sound. Their live shows are pure energy. The debut album Deadly Kick For A Fat Fucker was released in 2013. The second album Blend, Shake, Swallow is made of eleven speed-rock n' roll super tracks. The album is fast, the production is high quality. It's the perfect soundtrack for a fast and furious car journey on the highway to hell! There's a pinch of punk n' toll too that makes the album tracks much more groovy and dirty. Their sound will destroy your face once you push the start button. VA Africa Boogaloo: The Latinization Of West Africa 2LP
2017 repress; originally released in 2009. Honest Jon's presents a collection of music from '60s and '70s West Africa that is heavily influenced by Latin sounds from the era, representing a mutual cultural exchange that would have a permanent impact on the evolution of each region's trademark sound. Much of what makes modern Latin music so irresistible came from Africa in the first place. When the first waves of African rhythms, reconstituted in the Caribbean, returned home on radios and records, Africans -- especially in West and Central Africa -- received them with great enthusiasm. Staid dance bands that replicated European music soon began to swing as Caribbean accents settled in their rhythm sections. By the 1950s, Africa had produced its own Calypsonians, and more than one African musician changed his name to give it a Latin flavor. Some even composed songs in Spanish, while others wrote nonsense lyrics that only sounded like the real thing. No band mixed local and Latin styles more successfully than Orchestre Baobab and its leader Balla Sidibe. The mesmerizing "On Verra Ca" finds Baobab leaning in the direction of the stuttering mbalax sound that Youssou N'Dour carried to great popularity. Other Senegalese bands followed the trend, like the Rio Band, Orchestre N'Guewel, and Laba Sosseh from Gambia (like his compatriot Amara Toure) who styled himself as a salsa singer after his hero Johnny Pacheco. From Benin, Gnonnas Pedro sang in every pop style imaginable, but he seems especially at home in an Afro-Cuban embrace, as you will hear on the 1977 recording "Adigbedoto." The closing track also comes from Benin, a 1976 recording by the celebrated Orchestre Poly Rythmo -- though the singer, Pierre Tchana, hails from Cameroun. "Quiero Wapacha" features another Camerounian singer, Charles Lembe, and also from Cameroun is legendary African Jazz saxophonist, Manu Dibango, who is featured here alongside Le Grand Calle and Cuban flutist Don Gonzalo. Orchestre OK Jazz recorded any number of Afro-Cuban inspired sides: "Micorrason" is one of the band's earliest songs, recorded soon after their formation in 1956. There is no better evidence of the push-me-pull-you, back-and-forthing between two cultures than the Afro-Latin compilation we have here. All the flow from an unparalleled period of exuberance and creativity after World War II had ended and before homegrown tyranny had yet to descend on the land. It was Africa's moment, optimistic and free. You can hear it in the music. --Adapted from text by Gary Stewart, author of Rumba On The River: A History of the Popular Music of the Two Congos.

WEST COAST POP ART EXPERIMENTAL BAND, THE Part One LP
"Formed in Los Angeles in 1965, The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band were considered by many to be the West Coast's answer to the Velvet Underground. The group created California psych/rock music that was both fragile and dreamy. Part One was originally released in 1967 on Frank Sinatra's Reprise Records. Though they didn't achieve the fame or notoriety of other bands from the area, they have nonetheless achieved a cult status among collectors and people curious about a rich, albeit short-lived musical genre known as West-Coast Psychedelia. RICHARD, DAWN Redemption CD
D?WN's, aka Dawn Richard, last album Blackheart (2015) was FACT Magazine's #1 album of the year. It was in the Best Album of 2015 charts by Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Vogue, LA Times, Spin, Elle, Noisey and The Guardian, who called it "the most ambitious and revelatory album of 2015." Her first single of 2016, Not Above That (LOC 027EP), has garnered just as much success and she followed it with a series of show-stealing shows at SXSW (at the Pitchfork, Spin, FACT and Hype Hotel showcases). She also collaborated with Kingdom on "Honest", which received Pitchfork's Best New Track. With future collaborations in the works, she looks set to continue breaking down barriers of music, performance and technology. Redemption strikes the perfect balance between future-facing electronic music (with production from Machinedrum and Noisecastle III) and the music of D?WN's New Orleans upbringing, bound together by an untouchable approach to songwriting and flawless vocal range. The final part in a trilogy that started with Goldenheart (2013) and continued with Blackheart, it represents her most focused, complete album yet. Features contributions by Trombone Shorty and PJ Morton.

DIN A TESTBILD Programm 3 LP
Early pioneers of the German New Wave music scene, Din A Testbild were formed in 1978 by Mark Eins and Gudrun Gut (former member of Einstürzende Neubauten, Mania D. and Malaria!). Din A Testbild played a significant role in defining the avant-garde music of Berlin. Their participation at the Festival Genialer Dilletanten in 1981 is legendary. Programm 3 is their third album. Mixed and auto-produced by Mark Eins with help of Ziggy Schöning, it was released on Klaus Schulze's record label Innovative Communication in 1983. Programm 3 represents a moment of distance from the "kraut" past of the band. Moving out from the legendary Schulze's studio into a home recording dimension with a basic equipment (Roland TR-808, Moog Source, EMS Synthi, tape loops), the sound of Din A Testbild was radically changing, getting closer to the experimental-electro and connecting the Neue Deutsche Welle ("German New Wave") with cosmic disco. It's well known in fact that Din A Testbild were a favorite in the playlists of the Italian DJ pioneers Daniele Baldelli and DJ Mozart, while nowadays you can find them in Matt Edwards/Radio Slave home listening mixes. Mastered by Rude 66. Edition of 500.

DIN A TESTBILD Programm 4 LP
Early pioneers of the German New Wave music scene, Din A Testbild were formed in 1978 by Mark Eins and Gudrun Gut (former member of Einstürzende Neubauten, Mania D. and Malaria!). Din A Testbild played a significant role in defining the avant-garde music of Berlin. Their participation at the Festival Genialer Dilletanten in 1981 is legendary. Programm 4 is their fourth album. Mixed and auto-produced by Mark Eins near the wall in West Berlin in 1983, the album was rejected at the time by Innovative Communication, considered be too "synth/punk/techno" by the new label managers who were looking more into new age stuff. In fact, Schulze eventually sold the label in 1983, which started to release a plethora of acts loosely grouped around the NAM genre. The album was engineered by Manuel Göttsching (a long-time friend of Mark Eins) and remained under the ice for more than 30 years until Mannequin Records head Alessandro Adriani got in touch with Mark Eins and convinced him to show him the unreleased album. Recorded with basically the same setup of the previously released number 3 of the series (MNQ 092LP), Programm 4 goes even further and faster, pushing the TR-808 and the arpeggios to the limit. Imagine a sort of Clara Mondshine on speed. Looking to Europe widely in that period, similitudes can be found to Portion Control and Neon Judgement. Original reel-to-reel master tapes imported and processed by Frieder Butzmann. Mastered by Rude 66. Edition of 500.

KMD Bl_ck B_st_rds 2LP
Repressed. "Bl_ck B_st_rds was voted in Ego Trip's Book of Rap Lists as the most notable rap album of all time that was never released commercially, and with good reason. The fact that this excellent album, slated for a 1994 release, did not seen the light of day until 2001 (its first issue - now out of print) testifies to a time when shortsighted industry backlashes against records that inflamed middle America were in vogue. Elektra Records higher-ups canned the project due to its controversial cover art, which shows a Sambo figure being lynched. This must-purchase concept album is worth the wait. From the jazzy, hypnotic samples on the title cut to 'Sweet Premium Wine,' a farcical ode to swigging 40-ounce bottles of brew (remember when drinking St. Ides and Old English was trendy?), you know you've found rap heaven. Classic headbanger 'What a Nigga Know?' (and the remix featuring partner-in-rhyme MF Grimm) is equally off the chain. 'Constipated Monkey' and weed anthem 'Suspended Animation' are testaments to a time in Rap music when experimental beats and obscure sampling ruled the roost. Bl_ck B_st_rds is where Brand Nubian meets De La Soul at the local bodega, heads wear Muslim kufis for kicks, and 'word to the mutha' actually refers to themes of pan-Africanism, repatriation, and reparations. It's a place where Sambo-ism doesn't sell. Features artwork and track listing from the original Ready Rock issue."

TURINN 18 1/2 Minute Gaps 2LP
Outta the shadows and into the strobe-light, Alex Lewis, aka Turinn, debuts on Modern Love with a debut double-pack of sawn-off bruk-beats and anxious, nerve-riding grooves brewed in the ravines of North Manchester. Turinn emerges from a new generation of producers in the city that include longtime spar Willow, and upcoming producer Croww. Crooked and rugged, but tempered by an acute emotive sensitivity, 18 1/2 Minute Gaps renders a bleedin' cross-section of mongrel, hybrid style 'n pattern in a breathless, deceptively freehand fashion that comes riddled with an electric blue energy all of its own. Committing ten tracks of fractious, mutant funk and sore feels, 18 1/2 Minute Gaps serves to cap Turinn's formative phase of production like a lead lid on a nuclear rave implosion; trapping original 'ardcore 'nuum, Detroit booty and dank post-punk elements in a perpetual flux of in-the-pocket grooves which ravenously attempt to split at the seams, alternately pushing into Muslimgauze-like buffer zones of distortion or resoundingly wide ambient dimensions, and often both at once. This ambiguous dichotomy is epitomized between the rare surge of quick/slow torque in "Ovum", which almost sounds like Chris Carter sparring with Burial Hex, and then in his nod to the Italian new wave with "Elba", which seems to find the square root between Lorenzo Senni and some skudgy as heck Kassem Mosse grind, whereas the bittersweet soul of "1625" finds compatible links with his close peer, Workshop's Willow as well as Japan's Shinichi Atobe and scene enabler Move D, while "Parratactico" swaggers into quantum dancehall meters. The album title track runs at a next level Detroit momentum like DJ Stingray flipping Derrick May and Carl Craig's "Kao-tic Harmonies", before "ESO" cuts in like a super cranky El-B wearing itchy Primark underwear, and the bone-rattling hardcore jungle of "Spawn" soon enough gives way to the sweet lad couplet of "Petrichor" and "Ondine", where his elusive, distressed melodic touch really shines thru. Mastered and cut by Matt Colton at Alchemy; Pressed at Pallas.

An original sealed pressing of Michael Yonkers's Goodby Sunball from 1974. Recorded in 1970 and 1971 after a difficult spinal surgery following a severe warehouse accident. Richie Unterberger of AllMusic on Goodby Sunball: ". . . the basic home fidelity, with vocals recorded in a bathroom for echoing ambience, adds to the strangeness, the tunes also sounding on occasion like holiday carols by and for celebrants not quite certain they'll live to see another Christmas. Though not every fan of rare psychedelia will agree with this assessment, it sounds immeasurably better than Microminiature Love (2003), as the songwriting is substantially superior; the melodies far more varied and affecting; and the vision far more likably personal." SLUM VILLAGE Fantastic Collection 4CD
"This extensive collection from the group's Dilla-helmed era is a comprehensive overview of Fantastic V.1 and V.2. The contributions of the late Detroit producer James DeWitt Yancey - better known to the world as J Dilla - to the world of hip-hop can't be overstated, and nowhere is his legacy more apparent than his work as a member of Slum Village. A founding member of the trio, (alongside rappers T3 and Baatin) Dilla provided the group's distinctly esoteric, free-wheeling sound, built around winding basslines, quirky drumbeats, subtle low-end frequencies, and classic jazz & soul samples. Against the backdrop of Dilla's rich production, T3 and Baatin's free-flowing style of rhyming would also earn wide critical praise, leading to comparisons as the successors to A Tribe Called Quest. (A label they themselves have rejected.) Dilla himself went on to earn his own legend of brilliance, inspiring a slew of classic artists like Nas and The Pharcyde, to newcomers like Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar. It would be a gratuitous task to encapsulate the full magnificence of the material Dilla produced with Slum Village, but Ne'Astra Media Group have accomplished such a feat, with the arrival of the Fantastic Collection! A comprehensive overview of the underground group's Dilla-produced tracks across four compact discs. The CD includes the entirety of the namesake albums Fantastic Volumes 1 & 2, instrumental versions, and a bonus fourth collection of remixes and obscurities, featuring collaborations with Madlib & Pete Rock, and select cuts from Best Kept Secret, the group's rare release under the name J-88. AHO, KALEVI Piano Works CD
Finnish composer Kalevi Aho (born 1949) is a true giant among composers, both in terms of craftsmanship and of sonic and formal imagination. Although his works are not performed as much internationally as some of his colleagues', he is without doubt Finland's most brilliant symphonic and operatic composer of his time. This disc presents harpsichordist and pianist Andreas Skouras's brilliant first recording of this music for solo piano. The pieces are as many-sided as they are unpredictable, crossing borders in pianism. Violinist Anna Kalandarishvili appears on Halla for violin and piano (1992).

BRASS, NIKOLAUS String Trios CD/SACD
"Listening to the production I had a strong feeling that these three pieces form a kind of unity after all, that they do develop something like a single thought -- over a period of over 30 years. One can never know that when one writes the individual work. Now I see something of my identity in the trios." Nikolaus Brass (born 1949, Lindau, Germany) initially studied medicine and took private composition lessons with Peter Kiesewetter, before later studying with Frank Michael Beyer and Helmut Lachenmann. Between 1978 and 1986 he regularly attended the Darmstadt Summer Courses, where he also met with Morton Feldman. His music has become standard at every important new music festival, such as the Donaueschingen Festival, musica viva in Munich, Ultraschall Berlin, ECLAT Stuttgart, Klangspuren Schwaz, and Witten Days for New Chamber Music. Brass has turned more toward staged projects in the 2010s (the chamber music theater work Sommertag, based on Norwegian author and dramatist Jon Fosse's work of the same name of, was premiered in 2014 at the Munich Biennale). Brass has received numerous awards, including the Music Prize of the State Capital Munich in 2009. Since 2014 he has been a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts. This disc presents TrioCoriolis's performance of three of his works.

VA Ins Offene: Klaviermusik der Moderne/Piano Music of Modern Age CD
Ever since the music of modernism radically emancipated itself from its historically nurtured "worlds of concepts and feelings" (Nietzsche), composers have been diligently striving to liberate themselves from the standards, models, and experiences of the past while embarking upon an indefinite journey, without orientation, into the open. This presentation of piano works -- not comprehensible in their respective conceptions and so widely differing in their respective aesthetics and styles -- is, at the same time, a musically varied, richly contrasted, heterogeneous, and sensual journey into the piano music of modernism. Includes Greek-German pianist and harpsichordist Andreas Skouras's performances of: Prélude no 1 "Brouillards" by Claude Debussy (1862-1918), Mode de valeurs et d'intensités by Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992), Klavierstück V by Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928-2007), Étude no 6 by Pascal Dusapin (born 1955), Quattro illustrazioni by Giacinto Scelsi (1905-1988), Litany by Toru Takemitsu (1930-1996), Chaconne by Sofia Gubaidulina (born 1931), Für Alina by Arvo Pärt (born 1935), and Fünf Miniaturen by Hans-Michael Rummler (born 1946). Skouras appears frequently as a soloist or chamber musician throughout Europe at festivals such as Early Music in London, Festival International d'Art Lyrique d'Aix-en-Provence, Gidon Kremer's Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival, and les muséiques Basel, as well as in the United States, where he has performed at Carnegie Hall. His chamber music partners include Julia Rebekka Adler, Peter Sadlo, Wen-Sinn Yang, and Minas Borboudakis, and he has performed with the English Chamber Orchestra, the ASKO Ensemble, the Ensemble intercontemporain, and the Munich Chamber Orchestra -- with conductors such as Peter Eötvös, Susanna Mälkki, Constantinos Carydis, Markus Poschner, Christoph Poppen, Dirk Kaftan, and Jac van Steen.

FLAMMER, ERNST HELMUTH String Quartets Nos. 4 & 5 CD/SACD
E. H. Flammer presents two enormous works, asking the listener for intense and long-lasting attention -- with String Quartet No. 4 lasting about ten minutes longer than even Beethoven's famous Op. 132 -- but once it begins the listener will be unable to think of anything else. Voyage éternel de l'oiseau de feu (The journey through time of the firebird), evokes that ever-inquisitive creature, always on the way to new shores, pouncing with carefree verve on the new, which stands for an obsession with a journey into the infinite, harshly interrupted time and again by the "troublemaker" (Kurt Schwitters's "error in the system"), yet finally departing forever into the virtual, into the open. The Jade Quartett -- Hanlin Liang, violin; Hyunji You, violin; Igor Michalski, viola; Shihyu You-Holz, cello -- takes its name not only from the substance, but is also a portmanteau of "Ja" (a romanization of the Mandarin word for "Asia") and "DE," the country code of the ensemble's adopted country of Germany. This connection is also programmatic for the quartet, which is especially concerned with performing works from their Asian homeland as well as the classical European quartet repertoire.

POULENC/COLIN MCPHEE/JOHN ADAMS, FRANCIS Concerti III CD
Three completely different composers -- but three works with a great deal in common: gamelan, minimalism, parody. The GrauSchumacher Piano Duo keeps coming up with surprising but logical ideas, realizing these with fantastic pianistic virtuosity. In the 1960s, When American composers bid farewell to the cerebral exercises of the European avant-garde substantiated by historical-philosophical considerations, proclaiming the cult of a new simplicity, they also did this with reference to African drumming rituals, Indonesian gamelan music, pop art, and pop music. They called the result "minimalism," the most important characteristic of which, as with the gamelan, was repetitive patterns above a steady beat; these are transported into other musical aggregate states by means of gradually increasing (at first almost unnoticeable) disturbances, irregularities, and phase shifts. Together with the re-enthronement of the major and minor keys, these procedures frequently created psychedelic effects -- by no means unintentionally. American composer John Adams has provided a particularly vivid report on the stimuli that led him to compose his Grand Pianola Music (1982): he dreamt that he was driving on Interstate 5 when he was approached from behind by two black stretch limousines; when they passed him, they were transformed into the world's longest Steinway pianos and then launched salvos of B-flat major and E-flat major arpeggios at 90 miles per hour. Another important stimulus was the recollection of having walked through the halls of the San Francisco Conservatory and heard the sonic flood of 20 or more pianos "playing Chopin, the Emperor Concerto, Hanon, Rachmaninoff, the 'Maple Leaf Rag,' and much more." This disc presents the GrauSchumacher Piano Duo's performance of Adams's Grand Pianola Music with the Trio Mediæval and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, conducted by Brad Lubman, along with the GrauSchumacher Piano Duo and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin's performances of Francis Poulenc's Concerto en ré mineur (1932) and Colin McPhee's Tabuh-Tabuhan (1936).

NETTI, GIORGIO ciclo del ritorno DVD
One could describe Italian composer Giorgio Netti's ciclo del ritorno for viola solo as a small odyssey of breathing, becoming acoustically transformed from the body, to space into the body, to material and body, to an?instrument of tradition. It narrates a journey and return carrying on the tradition of the ?????? (the poems of the Iliad, describing the return of the Greeks to their homeland after the conquest of Troy), whereby the viola assumes the role of the narrator, simultaneously serving as a narrating voice and the location of the journey; the expanded acoustical space as a slow return to the instrument, as separation and rebirth. Performed by Anna Spina, viola, with Benoît Piccand, sound director. PAL, NTSC, region-free DVD. PCM 2.0 stereo. 16:9 aspect ratio. Includes an interview with Netti by Marcus Weiss.

"Plane Jane is back with another proper 2-sider. This time by way of Miles Bonny, we heard 'Hello Jesus' a few years back on an EP Miles had put out and Lepse has been playing it to dancefloors ever since. The tune gets such a heavy response we wanted to get it on a 7, so here it is. Side A is Bonny's version of a song that isn't called 'Hello Jesus', with production by Canadian duo Circle Research. The bass and drums alone catch you from the first beat, add the gritty synth lines and Miles' smooth but rough vocals and we have a hit. Sure to set the dance on fire for all the DJs that play this kind of thing."

ALVA NOTO Xerrox Vol. 1 2LP
2017 repress; originally released in 2007. Gatefold sleeve. Originals are unique, be they genetic codes or image and sound documents. Their copies are mere means of distribution. To secure these originals from misuse is increasingly at issue in the 21st century. The essence and potential of the copy, on the other hand, is mostly disregarded. In a world of constant reproduction, only the replication counts as original; the single object is a sheer copy of the prefiguration, which is abstract and becomes an icon. The uncountable number of multiplied images confirms the original, but immediately the copy withdraws and assesses its own value. By virtue of the mechanism of copying, the copy often contains mistakes and abstractions that differ from the original. These simplifications and deformations inherent in the copying process lead to a gradual loss of copies' connection to the original and result in a substantial change of meaning. Although there is still a source, the original message disperses in the white noise of reproduction. In the end, the observer can hardly discern whether the origin is part of the information transferred; whether there is still an integral material component of the original or if this can only be projected. This question remains unanswered. What finally remains is the process of copying itself. It becomes a creative tool by analytically accomplishing something new. The mutating copy provides space for development; he copy becomes original again. Xerrox is the self-contained project of Alva Noto, which, like his Transall series, is intended to be released in five parts. On Xerrox, Alva Noto works with samples from muzak, advertising, soundtracks, and entertainment programs -- sounds one hears randomly in everyday life in an ever-present and available kind of public domain. With Xerrox, Alva Noto manipulates these recognizable melodic (micro-)structures by the process of copying. He alienates them beyond recognition so the results manifest their connection to the original only suggestively. The original is copied to the original. Alva noto used several samples from these sources: Narita International Airport (Tokyo), AirFrance in-flight program, Lufthansa telephone wait-loop, Apollo Opéra Hôtel (Paris), Suizanso Hotel (Yamaguchi, Japan), 7-Eleven (Tokyo), Forma (London), Reaktor, kkmovie.com. Xerrox sample transformer designed by Carsten Nicolai and built by Christoph Brünggel. Mastered at Calyx Mastering.

ALVA NOTO Xerrox Vol. 2 2LP
2017 repress; originally released in 2009. Gatefold sleeve. Alva Noto's Xerrox Vol. 2 undertakes an intense journey and affords the luxury to take its time. While Xerrox Vol. 1 (R-N 078LP, 2007) referred to the old world, with its tradition deeply rooted in classical music, Xerrox Vol. 2 tries to access a new world. It works with samples that have been gathered and developed in the USA -- the so-called new world -- where the album was almost completely recorded. The dramatic and dynamic approach of Xerrox Vol. 1 has been replaced by a structural density on Xerrox Vol. 2. Instead of working with individual musical entities, Vol. 2 instead develops a linear aesthetic that refers to musical strategies of film music. Hence there are no implicitly singular pieces, but open musical structures -- a journey without a predetermined target. The first four tracks of Xerrox Vol. 2 actually condense into one track, using samples of Michael Nyman and Stephen O'Malley. They combine to form a sort of soundtrack before fading away in a swell of reverb feedback. "Xerrox Sora" is a rudimentary piece from Alva Noto's collaboration with Ryuichi Sakamoto, which originates from and was performed as an encore during the 2004 Insen tour (R-N 076DVD, 2006). Continuing with "Xerrox Monophaser 2," the album creates a dense and interweaved complexity that only gradually unfolds its depth. While "Xerrox Teion" dissolves in the process of copying into another sample rate, "Xerrox Teion Acat" again tends to re-condense its quality. Xerrox Vol. 2 seems to be more playful than Xerrox Vol. 1; following the approach of a live set, it is not so much obligated to a theoretical concept. Therefore it intends to break a static framework before it gets too restricted. The 11 tracks of Xerrox Vol. 2 serve as documents of an immediately experienced time or as attempts to unfold in an endless space. In this sense, Xerrox Vol. 2 comes close to the idea of the Aleph-1 project (R-N 087LP), which tried to disappear rather than occupy an endless space. Mastered at Dubplates & Mastering.

LICHTENBERGER, GRISCHA Spielraum/Allgegenwart/Strahlung 3x12"
As a central point of reference of Grischa Lichtenberger's La Demeure; Il Y a Péril en la Demeure complex (R-N 169CD, 2015), Raster-Noton presents a limited edition of three 12" vinyl EPs that are accompanied by a handmade, signed and individualized screen print. The three EPs, Spielraum, Allgegenwart and Strahlung, were set up as an experiment. Each of the records is guided by a word that could be described as a phantasmagoria, a delusion of the 20th century - like a metaphor that is concerned not only with its immediate meaning, but with an implication more emotional, more irrational, telling something about the mindset of the not so distant past. These keywords already existed before the production on the tracks began and thus played the role of an indirect orientation or playground for association. Nevertheless, the EPs are not conceptualized, but are rather a collection of habits and strategies in relation to the titles. Common to all EPs of the triptych is the question of a connection between intimacy and the public sphere. Aesthetically, the music presented on the EPs ranges from distressing and unaligned dancefloor-oriented tracks to tribal and politically charged drones to unsettling noise ballads. On Spielraum, for example, hypnotizing music box melodies are combined with claustrophobic breakbeats. Allgegenwart, on the other hand, presents mechanical rhythms and sawing pads, topped with high-pitched warning sounds. Last but not least, the final EP Strahlung features self-forgetful, gloomy and melancholy tracks backed by melodies that are reminiscent of a barrel organ turned upside down. Printed, stamped and signed by Lichtenberger himself. Print and paint application variations are intended. Edition of 500.

KAVINSKY Outrun LP
2017 repress. Nicolas Winding Refn's film, Drive (2011) operates on a level of cool that's hard to articulate with just words; it takes a snippet from the movie -- take the opening credits backed by Kavinsky's "Nightcall" -- to really grasp its effortless debonair. Since the film's release, this single's Youtube video has climbed to over 30 million views, and has been on repeat across an expanse of playlists, always fueling the after-after party with the slow burn of glossed synth echoes. Kavinsky is not all about "Nightcall." He died in a car crash in 1986, while driving his beloved Testarossa. He re-appeared as a zombie in 2005, with his 12", Teddy Boy. Since then, he has shown up all around the globe, playing his music to fellow humans. Crowds gathered to witness the miracle: despite being dead, Kavinsky was still alive. In 2007, he released his second 12", "1986." This is when his French robot-mates in Daft Punk invited him to join their "Alive Tour," and A-Trak put together an American tour. After discovering the world with his red eyes, Kavinsky retreated to his base camp to release "Nightcall' in 2011. Kavinsky now presents his long-awaited debut album OutRun produced by SebastiAn, including appearances by Havoc (Mobb Deep), Tyson & SebastiAn. 1x LP 12" -- gatefold glossy coated + 12" printed inner sleeve.

JULIE'S HAIRCUT Invocation And Ritual Dance Of My Demon Twin CD
Julie's Haircut - Italy's premiere psychedelic explorers - create a deep-end approach to sonic innovation on Invocation And Ritual Dance Of My Demon Twin, their debut release for Rocket Recordings. Seven albums into their mission, the band find themselves at a new plateau of small-hours elucidation and revelation that may summon the specters of the wayward squall of early Mercury Rev, the shamanic allure of Dead Skeletons, the freedom of Miles Davis, the repetition of Can, or the wild soundscapes of Amon Düül II to some, yet essentially sound like no one but themselves. The result is a record built on trance-like repetitions that grows to a mantric intensity, summoning atmospheres redolent of the psychic and surreal transgressions of its title - a double-helix tribute to both Frank Zappa and Kenneth Anger. Coruscating guitar overload and jazz-tinged blow-out collide amidst hypnotic soundscapes like the shamanically inclined "The Fire Sermon" and the eleven-minute motorik magnificence of the curtain-raiser, "Zukunft". Atmospheric restraint, glacial texture, and immersive groove play as large a part in this blinding and beatific sound world as droning darkness or overheated amp tubes.

NURSE WITH WOUND Spiral Insana 2CD/BOOK
Rotorelief inaugurates its Silver Collection with this deluxe expanded reissue of Nurse With Wound's 1986 masterpiece Spiral Insana. Two-CD version includes 30-page metallic hardcover book (15 x 20 x 2 cm) containing color and black-and-white art by Babs Santini (Steven Stapleton). One of Nurse With Wound's most deep and mysterious recordings, Spiral Insana is more ambient and user-friendly than many other NWW outings, without losing any of its surreal edge. Stapleton and guests Robert Haigh and David Jackman mix prepared piano, percussion, loops, and various bric-à-brac into an hour-long collage of mashed-up sound, jarring juxtapositions, buzz-saw distortion, and even a pipe organ. If that sounds disorienting, that's because it is. This edition marks the definitive release of the complete Spiral Insana sessions, with the contents of the original 1986 LP augmented by three recordings from the same period: "Mourning Smile" (originally released on the 1987 LP Drunk With The Old Man Of The Mountains and later included on the 1997 United Dairies CD reissue of Spiral Insana), "Nihil" (first released on the 1997 Spiral Insana CD reissue), and "A Missing Sense," a 25-minute tribute to Robert Ashley's Automatic Writing originally released as the NWW half of a 1986 LP split with Organum. Steven Stapleton: drums, cello, radio, guitar, bowed piano, percussion, loops, voice, tuba, organ, electronics; Robert Haigh: guitar; David Jackman: banjo, splutter, voice; Chris Wallis: acoustic guitar; David Tibet: trumpet; Diana Rogerson: voice; Andrew McKenzie: voice. Mastered by Denis Blackham. Cover art and pictures by Babs Santini. "Still stands as one of the clear highlights of Stephen Stapleton's singularly daunting and mountainous discography. . . . Many of the varied interludes are noisy, fragmented, and somewhat abrasive, but there is always a playful sense of mischief lurking in the shadows, ready to blunder into the steadily darkening fever dream at any second. . . . a brilliantly skewed and excellent album that has not faded with age one bit." --Anthony D'Amico, Brainwashed

KROKOFANT Krokofant III CD
On their third album in just three years, Krokofant typify a new and invigorating movement currently sweeping the Nordic region: hard-boiled improvisation and strong instrumental personalities bolted onto rock beats and driving rhythms. Equally powerful on record and on stage, Krokofant pull no punches, sounding off like some unholy three-way marriage of early '70s jazz rock (think Mahavishnu Orchestra, Terje Rypdal), the sprawling progressive odysseys of King Crimson and Van Der Graaf Generator, and the fierce heat of John Zorn or Peter Brötzmann's harsh free jazz ensembles. The group was properly born during the sessions at the proudly analog Engfelt & Forsgren Studio that led to their self-titled debut released on Rune Grammofon in 2014 (RCD 2154CD/RLP3154LP). This studio, with Christian Engfelt in charge of recording and mixing, has proved perfect for capturing the essence of a group like Krokofant, so it was only natural that they went back for the second album (RCD 2177CD/RLP3177LP, 2015) and now their third with Engfelt. Real musicians captured playing together in real time, you simply can´t beat that when it comes to this kind of music. Krokofant are the trio of: Axel Skalstad, Jørgen Mathisen, and Tom Hasslan.

DESTO Immortality EP 12"
Immortality EP is Signal Life lynchpin Desto's first outing in over three years. The EP is founded on the stark aesthetics of footwork paired with Desto's signature pitch-dark brooding melodies. "Flames" and the title track expand furthest from the footwork realm towards a wider field of electronic music. "Pulse Cathedral" continues the percussive explosions of footwork with staggering syncopation. The fully Chicago drum programming and the apparent lack of jungle breaks (albeit a clear presence of jungle feel) combines the energy of both genres without falling victim to cheap imitations.

SKIANTOS Inascoltable LP
Spittle Records present a reissue of Skiantos's Inascoltable, originally released in 1977. Inascoltable is the first album from Bolognese group Skiantos, the band that added a completely different flavor to the rock underground with their delirious performances and over the top lyrics. Released through Oderso Rubini's Harpo's Bazaar label (later Italian Records) in 1977 on cassette format, the album was recorded in one night in November 1977 in a session that was almost improvised. It was later printed on LP in 1979. This reissue from the original master does full justice to the insanely creative playing of the band fronted by Freak Antoni, who were true forerunners of demented rock and virtuous artists capable of colorfully interpreting all the non-standard rock movements from the British and American underground. This record wouldn't be out of place in the Zappa discography, although the whole turned out a little bit more punk...

SIGHA Metabolism CD
English producer James Shaw aka Sigha presents his sophomore album, Metabolism, marking his third release on the Token label following his singles Our Father/A Better Way Of Living (TOKEN 056EP, 2015) and Christ Figures/New Puritan (TOKEN 063EP, 2016). Metabolism represents an arrival, as the artist offers his definitive statement on a production aesthetic that has been in development throughout the 2010s. Shaw's work as Sigha has always placed the listener at a centrifugal point that invites a clandestine hypnosis rather than an abject hysteria. Cavernous low ends fixed firmly and effectively in a mono space tether the music to the body, while exquisitely executed white noise patterns and crystalline pads warp and hiss around the stereo environment. This keen ear for distinction within the frequency spectrum acts as the central theme on the album. Metabolism encompasses a power dynamism that departs from the explicitly grayscale finish found on Shaw's more conceptual work as Sigha and as A Vision Of Love for Guy Brewer's Avian label. Though elements of Metabolism maintain a driven, corrosive quality, each searing sequence and mordant drum machine hit occupies its own space. On high-energy dancefloor moments and abstract tracks alike, Shaw's approach to distortion is one that sets out to separate components rather than to bind them. This creates a matrix of aural stimuli that remain heady and inherently propulsive, but are realized in a fashion more akin to high-fidelity sound design than processes traditionally associated with the techno genre. The album also possesses a powerful musicality beyond this acute attention to form and structure. In the past, Shaw's productions have often married high-energy drum work with subtly shifting minor keys spread around the sonic periphery. On Metabolism, emotive leads sit squarely and comfortably in the foreground, and build toward rapturous crescendos that are crisp and omnipresent throughout the mix. These careful layers generate the extraordinary tension that has become a hallmark of the artist's work. Metabolism is a techno album, but its frame of reference is generous, drawing on the finest facets of the artist's own varied discography and the wider electronic music landscape. Cohesive and modern, Shaw's second album eschews a handful of riffs on a single idea in favor of a multi-faceted, fully realized expression of what the genre can be.

BONACCORSO, ROSARIO A Beautiful Story CD
A Beautiful Story is the title of the new album by Rosario Bonaccorso, produced by Via Veneto Jazz. Following his last album released in 2015, Viaggiando on Via Veneto Jazz (VVJ 098CD, 1991), Rosario Bonaccorso continues to enrich and expand his musical pathway, evolving his ideas as a band leader and composer. The twelve outstanding compositions on A Beautiful Story immediately enchant the listener with their beauty and depth. Once again, his music is smooth and powerful, and the listener is swept away into an overpowering, yet refined, intimate universe. On this new album, the double bassist is joined by a group of acclaimed musicians: his friend Dino Rubino on the flugelhorn, Enrico Zanisi on the piano and Alessandro Paternesi on the drums. These young "lions", widely appreciated by critics and audiences on both Italian and European jazz scenes, are sensitive and mature artists and despite their young age, they boast of a rich variety of noteworthy collaborations and experiences. There's a particular charm in the musical direction and the refined sound of this quartet, where the Italian flair for writing music is manifest, Rosario Bonaccorso representing this at its finest. With A Beautiful Story, Rosario Bonaccorso allures the listener into a sonic journey filling heart and soul, radiating the myriad of emotions in his music.

Of great interest is the Spanish version of the immortal "Dindi" (written by António Carlos Jobim) and "Un Desierto (Heisser Sand)" originally recorded for the German market and then immediately translated in Italian as "Si, Lo So".

In 1961, she acquired French citizenship upon marriage, while maintaining her original Italian one. La Plus Belle Du Monde is a compilation that traces her earlier roots with a selection of 12 fine tracks, now regarded as pop classics. BROONZY, BIG BILL Do That Guitar Rag 1928-1935 LP
2017 repress. 180 gram reissue, originally released in 1973. "The late Big Bill Broonzy looms as one of the few country blues greats whose career seems as remarkable as his musicianship. He played every professional role available to the untutored black guitarist of his generation: that of the country blues soloist catering to dance audiences, the city bluesman beguiling record-buyers with full-dress lyric themes and a slow song delivery, and the folk entertainer trading on familiar standards ear-marked for white listening audiences...
