Just got this from Solielmoon today. Only took about
a week to get here, and it was $10.99 with shipping.

1. Sterre 4:12

Same as the album version on "Hallway of the Gods".

2. Spike Psychomix 3:39

Much grittier and rawer than the album version. Edward's
voice is distorted more (I think) and the instrumentation
is stripped down. More horns and misc. added sounds.

3. The Elefant's Graveyard 10:31

Slow, plodding, kind of jazzy repetitive bass and drum
lines with misc. horns, sound effects and guitar emulating
elephant sounds. No lyrics, instrumental.

4. Sterre instrumental 4:20

Sterre, instrumental (duh?) It is different from the album
version, though: misc. effects and sounds are added.

Overall impression: very good. I'll leave it up to you
if it's worth the $11. I think it is. I like the alternate
versions (tracks 2 and 4), probably not as much as the
originals though. Elefant's Graveyard is repetetive, but
lovely. It's somewhat of a completist's kind of cd ...

About the time that the Pink Dots hooked up with Soleilmoon, a Polish label
called SPV began to release their back catalogue onto cassette, including
The Golden Age and The Maria Dimension. In 1997, SPV released the song
"Sterre" from Hallway of the Gods as an EP, featuring the album version, an
instrumental version, a remix of the album's "Spike," and the previously
unreleased "The Elefant's Graveyard," a ten-minute jam session enhanced by
wailing horns sounding very much like elephants.
