The Spirit is Willing/Dusty

What the Critics Said

Snipehunt summer 95

This is pure pleasure for the ears. It rocks and it's pretty and the lyrics are exciting and there are layers of good things. Cynthia Nelson has a lovely voice but none of that little girl crap that seems to be all the rage these days. When I first got this, I shit you not, I played it over and over like 7 times. Now it's on every mix tape I make for people! I mean, everyone in this band holds their own. No one is weak, thus all are strong.

On which the lovely Spirit is Willing is featured and then the catapulting "Dusty" which started off slow, lilting, quiet and was lovingly accompanied by those ciccatas outside my window for an added bonus. But this Dusty, my fave fo all Ruby Fall's recorded songs, just doesn't need any added bonus. It's a rare jewel, vocal harmonies bliss amongst those bashing verses, a sweeter melody line - then upon us. Unmatched in it's sticky composistion, a scraming "yes!!" Nothing but highest praises. Dustys my favorite sing. It's like godspell.
