V/Vm and
the label V/Vm Test came into being in January 1996. The best
way to describe the whole mess since then is to utter that
well known description which best sums up output.
"The
best of the worst of the worst of the best."
Since
1996 their have been numerous
releases on the label by V/Vm and numerous other
worldwide vagabonds and misfits. Indeed some of these releases
have achieved critical success whilst at the same time being
critically abused by others. It's all one big contradiction,
it's subjective audio and you are encouraged to approach it
as you will and form an opinion after exposure. Love or hate
is usually the norm.
During
the last ten years the label somehow has survived like a punch
drunk boxer clinging to the ropes and refusing to throw in
the towel despite numerous legal threats from other labels
and virtually being ignored by many in the music industry
for being outspoken and forthright when it comes to the state
of what is going on out there in music land.
V/Vm
and V/Vm Test doesn't fit into the cosy world of how labels
should be. I don't want to sell music on iTunes (refusing
to let them when they asked me), or have a big hit, or suck
upto musicians i hate just because it may be benificial.
I survive thanks to those of you out there who buy releases
and support the label. I create and release stuff which i
find of interest and hope others find entertaining.
For the whole of 2006 i worked on creating audio each day and give it away for free
(V/Vm 365).
Sure it might be nuts but it's better than pressing a cd
up and touring around with that for a whole year like the
rest of the "Lets bore you by sitting behind my laptop
brigade."
Right now i'm working on a number of projects virtual and physical which hopefully will see the light of day or segments of your hard drive somepoint soon.
Thanks for your interest and support. |
