V/Vm
the master of the absurd has been churning out audio
sausages since 1996. Back then V/Vm worked with Jansky
Noise on a number of audio releases on both V/Vm
Test and numerous other labels before becoming a mainly
solo project around 1999 with Jansky dropping in from
time to time to aid and abet the audio work.
Initially output was solely electronic but a shift in
emphasis due to new technology saw V/Vm begin to butcher
their way through chart pop hits at a time when it was
unfashionable to do so. The term 'Bastard Pop' was born
and V/Vm was at the copyright fringed forefront of this
movement though output was often sicker than others
and purposefully undancefloor friendly which has led
to V/Vm being an outsider of almost all music scenes.
V/Vm has worked tirelessly in giving audio away for
free here at the V/Vm site and on numerous releases
ranging from the serious to the totally absurd. 2006 saw the daily upload/download '365
project' with over 600 free tracks to download which took up a large amount of time along
with a desire to bring back Belgian-New-Beat
from obscurity. As well as that an online label Vukzid
was launched in early 2006 which offers free audio and
videos from V/Vm and other associated artists.
V/Vm also records as both The Stranger and The Caretaker.
A V/Vm retrospective boxset release will be available in 2008. |
