Twenty
years ago today the fatal experiment which began in reactor
four at the Chernobyl power station in the Ukraine started
a chain reaction which led to the worlds worst nuclear disaster.
The effects of the disaster are still felt today in terms
of various health problems for those exposed to the radiation
and the endless clean up operation still active at the plant
with its aging concrete sarcophagus in danger of collapse.
The horrific story of Chernobyl and bad handling of the disaster
are best told elsewhere. Be sure to click today's image for
more information about the disaster and it's long term effects. |
