EDDIE MARCON Yahho no Potori (Yellow Vinyl) LP
Transparent yellow vinyl. A Colourful Storm presents the first vinyl edition of Yahho no Potori, a treasured recording by one of the most cherished contemporary Japanese folk outfits, Eddie Marcon. Comprised of the core duo of Eddie Corman and Jules Marcon, Eddie Marcon was formed in Himeji in 2001, following Corman's involvement in noise-rock duo Coa and Shinsuke Michishita's fabled psychedelic outfit, LSD March. Marking a stylistic shift into delicate, acoustic territories, the duo would release dozens of albums and singles, mostly self-released through their Pong-Kong imprint, that have seen little distribution outside of Japan. Recorded over a particularly humid summer and autumn, Yahho no Potori sees Eddie Marcon drifting from the delicate psychedelia of their debut EP into traditional song-based structures. A touching document of joy, tenderness and wistfulness, Marcon's deft yet effortless strum sets a stylish backdrop for Corman's voice to ascend. Desirous yet self-assured, Corman breathes life into an intimate space adorned by the elegant instrumentation of Yashuhisa Mizatani, Yoriro Tatekawa, Ran Mizutani, and Saya Ueno, whose ingenuous collaborative instinct has been gifted to listeners through collectives such as Tenniscoats, Maher Shalal Hash Baz, and Spirit Fest. Here, she also lends her engineering prowess, having produced the album. Devotees of ambitious yet beautifully understated songwriting, as well as followers of Reiko and Tori Kudo, Nagisa Ni Te and Ai Aso, will find much to adore in the songs of Eddie Marcon. An intense and devastating recording, A Colourful Storm is proud to give new life to a shimmering, underappreciated gem.

LONE CAPTURE LIBRARY All Natures Most Mundane Materials LP
A Colourful Storm presents a remastered first-time vinyl editions of Lone Capture Library's modern-day DIY environmental masterpiece, All Natures Most Mundane Materials. While this certainly wasn't recorded for dinner party ambience nor was it commissioned by Harrods, it does document a haphazard wander through the English countryside, feeling the air and the earth, detaching oneself from confinement and attempting to make sense of it all. Its protagonist is Rory Salter, London's restless improvisor extraordinaire, who has contributed to dozens of solo and collaborative releases in an ecosystem branched from his Infant Tree private press. Under his alias Malvern Brume, he is responsible for some of the most enchanting sides of contemporary concrete: derives revealing beauty and curiosity within London's urban banality. And while Lone Capture Library applies this approach but seeks the peculiar within the pastoral, there also lies a certain hermetic recklessness, with its disruptive details and discarded sonic bric-a-brac.

BERRY, CHUCK Let It Rock: Greatest Hits 1955-60 LP
"Pioneering rock 'n' roller, Chuck Berry is one of the most important figures in popular music. His sound captured the imaginations of 1950s teenagers across the world like no other. Revered by artists like The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Brian Wilson, and Joe Cocker, without Berry all would have sounded very different. Widely acknowledged as the 'Father of Rock 'n' Roll,' Berry was one of the very first musicians to be inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame when it launched in 1986. Speaking of launches, his music was considered so pivotal in the understanding of contemporary popular culture, that it is featured on the Golden Record, carried by space probe, Voyager 1 -- still transmitting from the farthest reaches of the known universe. This collection features a veritable banquet of Berry's greatest hits, showcasing the lyrical and musical talent that has made him such an iconic artist including the timeless 'Maybellene,' 'Roll Over Beethoven,' 'Johnny B. Goode,' 'Wee Wee Houra,' 'School Day (Ring! Ring! Goes The Bell)' and 'Almost Grown'."

SISTER ROSETTA THARPE Shout, Sister, Shout: The Rock 'n' Roll Originator 1938-56 LP
"Sister Rosetta Tharpe was a gospel singer, songwriter and guitarist who was unique in her genre as the pioneer of performing gospel using an electric guitar, to the extent that many of her records and performances have been seen as early examples of rock 'n' roll, and she acquired the nicknames 'the original soul sister' and 'the Godmother of rock 'n' roll.' Rock 'n' roll artists like Elvis Presley and Little Richard, and blues guitarists like Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck cite her as an influence. This rocking 16-track LP includes releases with Lucky Millinder's Orchestra, duets with fellow gospel singer Marie Knight, and tracks where she is accompanied by The Sam Price Trio. Her work strayed into the mainstream R&B market, and this collection includes her US R&B hits 'Strange Things Happening Every Day,' 'Precious Memories,' 'Up Above My Head I Hear Music In The Air,' and 'Silent Night' alongside single releases from her iconic album Gospel Train. She was an artist who broke the mould of how gospel could be performed and this collection from a key era of her career is a substantial and entertaining showcase for her unique approach."

VA Apparel Music B-Day 15 LP
15 Years, All Ears, All Heart. Fifteen years ago there wasn't a grand plan, no vision board or ten-year strategy. Fast forward a bit and the family just kept expanding. It wasn't just producers and DJs anymore, designers, writers, random hype people, "vinyl faced" ones. House, jazz, techno, experimental, it didn't matter. The only rule was that the music had to feel alive, with a jazzy twist, where "jazzy" means a propensity to improvisation, not just music. That is the soul of Apparel Music and that's why the cover for B-Day 15 isn't gleaming or shiny, it's real. It's a celebration of encounters. The messy, magical moments when people connect and make something bigger than themselves. This record, featuring artists from all over the world, is the symbol of the Apparel Music essence. From the USA with Osunlade to Australia with Erin Buku & Inkswel; from Denmark with Ghosten (featuring Francesca Tour? and IZZY NU) to Italy with 2KS and Kisk; Argentina and Brazil with Eduardo and HNQO (with Collateral Lab), Spain with Tuccillo, Germany and The Netherlands with Marcel Vogel & LYMA. It's about exploring genres, diving into far-off worlds, being curious about other places, other people and figuring out how to make them all feel comfy under the same roof, chilling in the same room. There's more music to make, more stories to discover, more people to meet. Apparel Music is not just a label anymore, it's a big, instinctive, unplanned love letter to everyone who's been and who'll be a part of it. 15 Years, All Ears, All Heart.

GUERRERO, TOMMY A Little Bit Of Somethin' 2LP
2025 repress; remastered on 180 gram vinyl, expanded to double-LP, gatefold sleeve. One cannot hear a Tommy Guerrero song without immediately recognizing it as his -- and his only. The cult skater from San Francisco is globally renowned as one of the original members of the legendary "Bones Brigade" team. And as an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, his laid-back soul is beloved by all who've basked in its blissful glow. A Little Bit Of Somethin' is a quietly majestic gem. Brimming with Guerrero's horizontal "loose grooves", these brief but innovative instrumentals demonstrate a rich variety and, as such, comprise an LP that is aptly titled. An enchanting start-to-finish listen, it was instantly regarded as essential upon release via Mo Wax in 2000. It has aged remarkably well. Throughout this inspired collection, simplicity is key. In deploying it, Guerrero presents a beautifully crafted melodic soundscape. The distinctive, mellifluous approach of his guitar style, blending Brazilian, Cuban, Mexican, soul, and jazz motifs, is at once startlingly new and tantalizingly familiar. Set against unrushed percussion, the music releases a crystal-clear stream of healing frequencies to create a fragile, hypnotic atmosphere. Each track clocks in at around three minutes and, with a lack of studio polish or commitment to traditional song structure, it's a wonder how this enigmatic record demands your attention. However, through its gentle dynamism and impressive playing, it does just that. Whilst resolutely low-key, this lo-fi aesthetic feels genuinely organic and remarkably personal; its powerful intimacy truly connects. It's what makes this album so beloved of those lucky enough to be already familiar with it. From Margaret Kilgallen's truly iconic cover artwork to the music contained within, it's all brilliantly effortless. Guerrero's musical ideas are consistently compelling throughout, making it impossible to select highlights. The album's laconic drift touches upon jazz-fusion workouts and slow-mo hip-hop drums, Tortoise-style experimental post-rock, and cinematic sound textures. It's at once hazy, light and bouncy yet somber and bluesy. The Latin soul of El Chicano blends with the breezy jazz of Grant Green. By employing guitars and drum machines to create a stripped-down rhythmic tapestry of spellbinding, addictive songs, there are even traces of The Durutti Column. A little bit of country, a little bit of rock n' roll. A Little Bit Of Somethin', indeed.

GUERRERO, TOMMY From The Soil To The Soul LP
2025 repress. Be With Records present the first vinyl issue of Tommy Guerrero's From The Soil To The Soul, originally released in 2006. Yes! Tommy Guerrero's much-loved fourth album -- the smooth West Coast classic From The Soil To The Soul -- gets its first ever vinyl release. As the follow up to his revered Soul Food Taqueria (BEWITH 026LP), this album was originally released by Quannum Records 2006 but only on CD. Working with Tommy directly, the LP has been fully remastered, cut on to heavyweight wax, and comes with artwork freshly reworked by the man himself. From The Soil To The Soul represents a continuation of Tommy's blissful guitar-soul whilst demonstrating increasingly complex chops and a slightly darker side to his distinctive sound. His spare, effortless funk is blended here with elements of Americana, heavy psych, lo-fi fuzz, and intoxicating Latin rhythms. Combined with his typically breezy, laid-back San Franciscan style, it's a vibe from start to finish. Recorded primarily in his home studio, Tommy wrote, arranged and played nearly all the instruments, including bass, guitar, keyboards, percussion, and kalimba. Renowned street artist Barry McGee, aka Twist, designed the cover art which Tommy has now recast in a deep, deep red for the vinyl version. As ever with Tommy, the highlights are many and memorable. From twinkling, sun-drenched opener "Hello Again" to the penultimate, punk-rocking track "Let Me In Let Me Out" (featuring the melodic yet fearsome rapping of Lyrics Born), the variety across the LP is relentless, but satisfying, and without once losing focus. You're treated to the gorgeous hip-hop blues of "The Under Dog", Meters-style Hammond B-3 jams like "War No More" and "No Guns More Glory" and Balearic bangers like Bing Ji Ling's star-turn on the sleazy "Don't Fake It". Curumin's soulful guest vocal elevates the already-great Brazilian lounge feels of "Salve" to hitherto unscaled heights and the heavy, driving basslines -- funky and warm on "Badder Than Bullets", somber and intense in "Tomorrow's Goodbye" and "Molotov Telegram" -- never fail to move both body and soul. But Be With's favourite track is the beautiful breezy pop of "Just Ain't Me". A bittersweet, skipping ballad which boasts an incredibly rare instance of Tommy singing. "What you want from me, I can never give" he repeats throughout, lending the already-melancholic atmosphere greater poignancy. It would've been number 1 across the planet in a parallel universe. Remastered. 180 gram vinyl.

DJ QUIK Rhythm-Al-Ism 2LP
2025 repress; Be With Records present a reissue of DJ Quik's Rhythm-Al-Ism, originally released in 1998. DJ Quik is a giant of West Coast hip-hop. With his fourth album Rhythm-Al-Ism he created his masterpiece, a perfect hip-hop album. A preternaturally gifted producer/rapper, DJ Quik has produced scores of LA gangsta rap classics. He's released platinum and gold records of his own, as well as helped craft them for the likes of Tupac, Snoop Dogg, and Dr Dre. Quik has always been quirkier and more interesting than his gangsta rap peers, both musically and lyrically. An old-school funk producer at heart, he's also incredibly nice on the mic. His raps often deal in boasts, jokes and good times but also cover his beefs, his trials and his trauma. Partying and pain, all mixed up. DJing and producing hype beat tapes from age 14, Quik's tracks blended the languid funk and rubbery synths of Zapp and George Clinton with a gangsta aesthetic, creating a more danceable foil to Compton's more typical nihilistic hedonism. Ultimately, his records sound custom engineered to drift out over sun-soaked barbecues. Released in 1998 on Profile, Rhythm-Al-Ism was the closest Quik ever got to making a commercial splash. "You'z A Ganxta" and "Hand in Hand" made radio waves across the country and the less radio-friendly tracks like "Medley For A 'V'" were bumping out of car stereos. Combining his soulful, jazzy P-Funk/G-Funk beats with his effortlessly smooth flow, Rhythm-Al-Ism was the quintessential West Coast Party. Squelchy synths, bouncy bass, monstrously knocking drums and freaky keys - this is peaking acidic party-rap, straight out the gate. Dripping with wit and good humor. A real swing to the vibe. Mastered for vinyl by Simon Francis, cut by Pete Norman and pressed at Record Industry. Original picture sleeve and insert.

WEISS RHYTHM AND SOUNDS, KLAUS Sound Inventions (Selected Sound) LP
2025 restock. Be With Records present a reissue of Klaus Weiss Rhythm And Sounds' Sound Inventions, originally released in 1979. From the notoriously strong mind of Niagara drummer/library-funk overlord Klaus Weiss, Sound Inventions is loaded with tripped out studio funk-freakery, mad samples, and swaggering abstract funk grooves. From dramatic deep disco with dark Italo/Moroder leanings to heavy German funk breaks, this is absolutely sensational. Absolute synth-and-string-drenched magic. Born in 1942 in Gevelsberg, Germany, Klaus Weiss began his career as a jazz drummer at sixteen (with a group called the Jazzopators) before working with the internationally successful '60s groups the Klaus Doldinger Quartet and the Erwin Lehn Big Band. In 1965 he formed his own trio, the first of many groups to bear his name, and as his renown as a bandleader grew over the next decade it naturally led to working in production music. About as cult as it gets when it comes to library music legends (German or otherwise), he produced essential records on German library labels Coloursound, Selected Sound, and Sonoton, as well as making two essential entries in the Conroy catalog. Collections of music in the trademark Klaus Weiss sound of electronics unsurprisingly built on top of sometimes funky, sometimes frenetic, but always hard-hitting drums. Sound Inventions is one of those library records with a hefty track list, 22 in total, but they're all pretty stunning. That's not something you can often say and picking out the highlights is almost impossible. If pushed, go towards the tough teutonic funk of "Drumcrazy", the by turns juddering and sweeping majesty of the title track "Sound Inventions", the aquatic serenity of "Glide", the elegant strut of "Greenwich Street", the muted, eerie cosmic-funk of "Air Space", the squelchy acid-clavs of "Rhythm Function", the calming, melodic "Waves", the stuttering proto-Timbaland sensation that is "Rainbows" and the percussive funk-fueled workout of "A Few Cuts". Founded in the late '60s by German composer and musician Klaus Netzle, Selected Sound began as a production music company specializing in jazz, orchestral and electronic recordings. You can't miss those early LPs in their iconic glossy metallic copper sleeves with minimal German typography. Mastered for vinyl by Simon Francis from audio from the original tapes. Richard Robinson reproduced the original Selected Sound sleeve.

SONTAG SHOGUN & LAU NAU Paivakahvit LP
When the trio of Sontag Shogun gathered at Laura Naukkarinen's home on the Finnish island of Kimito?n in the summer of 2019, they had not the slightest inkling that the world was about to change irretrievably with the onset of a long-predicted pandemic the following year. By the time their collaborative album, Valo Siroutuu ("The Light Scatters"), was released nearly two years later, the intimate and reflective nature of the work they had created together had taken on new meaning, resonating powerfully (and quietly) with a world in which the proverbial cracks in the wall only seem to be widening. P?iv?kahvit completes the story that began with Valo Siroutuu, featuring nine new songs from the original sessions plus four interpretive reworks courtesy of Amulets, Fadi Tabbal, Post-Dukes, and Jeremy Young. Available digitally and in a one-time vinyl pressing of 300 copies, the album flows seamlessly from beginning to end, incorporating field recordings, tape, sublime vocal melodies, and a host of acoustic and electronic instruments. Richly textured and immersive, P?iv?kahvit positively crackles with warmth and a sense of creative embrace.

ISHIBASHI & DARIN GRAY, EIKO Ichida LP
2025 repress. Black Truffle present the release of Ichida, the first release from the duo of two important, yet often underappreciated musicians, Eiko Ishibashi and Darin Gray. Ishibashi is a singer-songwriter, keyboardist, drummer, and multi-instrumentalist, known in Japan both for her own elaborately conceptual solo albums and for her frequent collaborations with figures such as Jim O'Rourke, Merzbow, and Phew. Darin Gray is a bassist and multi-instrumentalist known for a multitude of collaborations (with O'Rourke and Loren Connors, among many others), for On Fillmore, his cinematic post-exotica project with Glenn Kotche, and as one half of Chikamorachi with Chris Corsano, one of the finest free-jazz rhythm sections around. Presenting the entirely of a live set performed at Tokyo's Super Deluxe in March 2013, the set begins as a duet for Ishibashi's flute and Gray's upright bass. Calmly melodic yet harmonically inventive, with shades of "spiritual jazz", the pair's acoustic ruminations are gradually joined by Ishibashi's lush electronics, which randomly flicker between chords in a manner recalling the classic work of David Behrman. As the electronics build into a gloomy fog of slowly cycling loops, Gray lays his bass aside and turns to making strangely mournful interjections on a mouthpiece. Eventually Ishibashi moves to the piano, enveloping the audience in rippling pools of sustained, octave-doubled melody, provided by Gray's bass with a fluid and dynamic foundation. For much of the second side, both Ishibashi and Gray turn to electronics, ultimately arriving in a bizarre space of melancholic arpeggios and random sputter and sizzle, oddly reminiscent of '70s outsider prog acts like Wapassou. An uneasy coda of rich piano chords ends the set. Captured in warm room ambience and beautifully mixed by Jim O'Rourke, Ichida is a rare combination of improvisational acumen and emotional directness, both adventurous and immediately accessible. Cover pics by Jim O'Rourke. Design by Stephen O'Malley. Mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin.

ISHIBASHI, EIKO Hyakki Yagyo LP
2025 repress. Black Truffle announce a new solo album by Eiko Ishibashi, her first for the label, following on from the duo recording Ichida alongside bassist Darin Gray (BT 039LP, 2018). Hyakki Yagy? (Night Parade of One Hundred Demons) was produced for the "Japan Supernatural" exhibition at The Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney focusing on ghost stories and folklore from the Edo period onwards. As with The Dream My Bones Dream (Drag City, 2018), the album is a response to troubling questions about Japanese history, and the influence of the past upon the present, but finds Ishibashi shifting further away from her earlier piano-led songwriting and showing a deepening interest in electronics and audio collaging. The two side-long parts of Hyakki Yagy? feature layered synthesizers, acoustic instrumentation, recited verse, and field recordings, at times densely mixed but always with a subtle interplay of changing elements. The influence of European and American forerunners as diverse as Alvin Curran, David Behrman, and Strafe F?r Rebellion can be traced, yet at the same time Ishibashi evokes the flute and string sounds associated with Japanese storytelling, and draws directly on the subversive literary tradition of Kyoka ("mad poetry") with a verse by the 15th-century poet Ikky? S?jun repeated throughout the album. Revisiting what has gone before, re-thinking what is possible musically, as a way of articulating what else might be possible in the future. As Ishibashi's liner notes make clear, the album reflects an attention to persistent dangers, myths and evasions in Japanese culture -- as well as the lurking uncertainties that might threaten positive change. This would seem to be manifested in the emerging melodies soon met by dissonance, erratic collisions, and near silence, as well as the eerie manipulation of the double-tracked vocals. Ishibashi's underlying concerns ring true more widely of course. Hyakki Yagy? is a work of multiplicities, and mystery, a landscape where nothing is as it seems at first, and everything is vulnerable to sudden violent interruptions. The album was produced with regular collaborators Jim O'Rourke (double bass) and Joe Talia (percussion), and features dancer and choreographer Ryuichi Fujimura performing Ikky?'s satirical tanka. O'Rourke's immersive mix creates a three-dimensional effect, with Ishibashi's various sound sources enmeshing and interacting in captivating ways. White vinyl; inner sleeve featuring artist portrait and liner notes from Eiko Ishibashi. Cover and label design by Shuhei Abe. Back cover design by Lasse Marhaug. Mixed and mastered by Jim O'Rourke.

ISHIBASHI, EIKO For McCoy LP
2025 repress. Black Truffle announce For McCoy, a new work by Eiko Ishibashi dedicated to the widely loved character of Jack McCoy, portrayed by Sam Waterston in Law & Order. Following on from Hyakki Yagy? (BT 064LP), For McCoy finds Ishibashi further exploring the unique space she has carved out in recent years, bringing together musique concr?te techniques, ECM-inspired jazz, lush layers of synths and hints of pop into immersive and affecting structures crafted in her home studio, aided by a group of close collaborators. Beginning with overlapping layers of descending flute lines, the expansive "I Can Feel Guilty About Anything" (whose two parts stretch out over more than thirty minutes) unfolds with a free-associative logic, embracing dreamlike transitions and unexpected cinematic cuts. As a hovering cloud of synthetic tones and multi-tracked voices fans out from the spare opening moments, Joe Talia's skittering cymbals settle into a gently propulsive groove, soon joined by melodic fragments performed by Daisuke Fujiwara on multi-tracked saxophone. As the drums cede to field recordings and ominous synth figures, the uncommon meeting of saxophone and electroacoustic techniques call to mind the more spacious moments of Michel Redolfi and Andr? Jaume's Synclavier-propelled oddity Hardscore or the early work of Gilbert Artman's Urban Sax. As the piece continues on the LP's second side, distant dialogue rumbles beneath a surface of processed flutes, blurring into a cavernously reverberant backdrop for stark ascending lines performed by MIO.O on violin. Eventually, the piece settles into a gorgeous passage of abstracted dream pop, where Ishibashi's multitracked vocal harmonies glide atop synth chords, errant pings and snatches of outdoor sound. Fragments of melodic material reappear throughout the spacious opening piece, finally stepping to the forefront on the closing track, "Ask Me How I Sleep at Night". Here, over a shuffling groove supplied by Jim O'Rourke on double bass and Tatsuhisa Yamamoto on drums, layers of flutes, saxophones and guitars sound out melodies whose combination of twisting irregularity and soulful immediacy calls up prime Keith Jarrett, while their closely voiced harmonies suggest Kenny Wheeler or even Wayne Shorter's Atlantis. In a classical gesture of closure, the web of melodic lines eventually leads back to the descending flute figures with which the record began. Presented in an immersive, impeccably detailed mix by Jim O'Rourke and arriving in a sleeve featuring Ishibashi's beautiful drawings of Jack McCoy, For McCoy is an essential release for anyone following the enchanted and unique path being forged by Eiko Ishibashi.

BITTERVIPER Bitterviper LP
"Bitterviper is the brand-new quartet of Nikos Veliotis (cello), Taku Unami (synthesizer), Sarah Hennies (percussion), and David Grubbs (guitar, piano), four individuals who separately are responsible for some of the most striking and wildly idiosyncratic music of the past couple of decades -- not to mention the duo collaborations between Grubbs and Unami (the albums Comet Meta and Failed Celestial Creatures) and Veliotis and Grubbs (The Harmless Dust). Athens-based Nikos Veliotis set Bitterviper into motion with four overdubbed pieces of dense psychoacoustic marvels on the cello; Grubbs responded with characteristically subtle tracery on piano, guitar, and lap steel; Unami weighed in electronically from Tokyo to mysteriously thicken both the plot and the low end; and Hennies applied her compositional gifts to structure the whole thing with an Occam's Razor approach to percussion. But once you drop the needle on Bitterviper, its origin story becomes ancient history; you're suddenly in the presence of an ensemble that sounds like no other and for whom there are no false steps. It's all fair game when this is how you choose to play; Bitterviper is a salvo of confidence and conviction, and this is only the beginning. David Grubbs is Distinguished Professor of Music at Brooklyn College and The Graduate Center, CUNY. He was a member of Gastr del Sol, Bastro, and Squirrel Bait, and has performed with Tony Conrad, Pauline Oliveros, Luc Ferrari, Will Oldham, Loren Connors, Jan St. Werner, The Red Krayola, and many others. Sarah Hennies is a composer and percussionist based in upstate New York whose work is concerned with a variety of musical, sociopolitical, and psychological issues including queer and trans identity, psychoacoustics, and the social and neurological conditions underlying creative thought. She is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Bard College. Taku Unami's work is influenced by science fiction, supernatural horror and weird fiction. He's the composer of film scores for directors including Isao Okishima and Takeshi Furusawa, was half (with Toshiya Tsunoda) of the group Wovenland, is one-third of the group Hontatedori, and has collaborated with, among others, Annette Krebs, Radu Malfatti, Jean-Luc Guionnet, Jarrod Fowler, and Graham Lambkin. Nikos Veliotis founded Mohammad with ILIOS and Coti K. (renamed MMMD in 2015). In the 1990s he developed an experimental practice, exploring image and sound, mainly through the cello; he also performed in numerous groups, most notably CRANC (with Angharad and Rhodri Davies) and Looper (with Ingar Zach and Martin K?chen)."

ALICE Chateaux Faibles LP
LP version. Alice is a vocal harmony trio made up of three persons, joined by a cheap synth and limited virtuosity. Together, they craft a kind of future folklore that's part funny, part apocalyptic -- half-soft, half-harsh, half-sad, half-simple, half-complex, half-controlled, half-Yvonne Harder, half-Sarah Andr?, half-Lisa Harder. Since their last album L'Oiseau Magnifique (BJR 091CD), Alice have spent time on the road -- in cars, in trains, out in the open. Accustomed to writing outdoors, they slowly stitched together a collection of new songs. After two years of performing in clubs, bars, stairwells, carpentry workshops, activist agricultural fairs and roadside shoulders, they took their Oiseau Magnifique just about everywhere. It felt like time to sew these new pieces together -- a quilt of humor and soft words, something we could really use in these half-sweet, half-fascist times. Les Ch?teaux Faibles is the name of one of their latest songs, and naturally, the title of their new album. It captures the group's ethos perfectly -- a search for refuge in fragility, in a weakness that's better when shared. A collective sensitivity to bring us closer, stronger -- united in Ch?teaux Faibles.

BALLET MECANICO Primera Secuencia LP
Buh Records presents Primera Secuencia, the debut album by Ballet Mec?nico, the project of Fernando Pinz?s. After his time in the synth-punk band Varsovia, Pinz?s embarks on a new phase as a solo artist and producer, exploring electronic styles from the 1980s like synthpop, Hi-NRG, Italo disco, and techno pop. The album blends synthesizers, programmed sequences, and pulsating basslines to create a nostalgic yet danceable soundscape. Set against the backdrop of the pandemic and social movements in Peru, each track tells a story, featuring guest vocalists from the Peruvian independent scene, including Susana F?tima (Gomas), Noelia Cabrera (Blue Velvet, Silveria), Kat Kathia, Luxsie, Luminiscencia, Anabhell (Las Ratapunks), Laura Rosales (Solenoide), and Elva C?o (Specto Caligo). Singles "No Ceder?" and "Testamento" define the project's dark and ethereal pop aesthetic. "No Ceder?," featuring Susana F?tima, critiques societal notions of success over an Italo disco and Hi-NRG beat. The track includes a remix by Italoconnection, the duo of Fred Ventura and Paolo Gozzetti, who take it into a hypnotic, spacey realm. "Testamento," with Luminiscencia, reflects on the emotional weight of the pandemic, blending synthpop and ethereal pop. Other standout tracks include "La ciudad de los incendios," a dystopian vision of Lima with dark disco rhythms, and "Como la ?ltima vez," a synthpop-driven, melancholic song featuring Noelia Cabrera. Produced by Pinz?s with Antonio Ballester, Om?n Mor?, Rafael Benavides, and Juancho Esquivel, the album was mastered by Jos? Marcos Aguilar Villanueva (Antinori) and features artwork by Gonzalo de Montreuil.

PACHA WAKAY MUNAN El Tiempo Quiere Cantar LP
Buh Records presents El tiempo quiere cantar ("Time Wants to Sing") the debut album by Pacha Wakay Munan, a duo formed by Peruvian musicians and researchers Dimitri Manga Ch?vez and Ricardo L?pez Alcas. This album explores the sonic possibilities of pre-Hispanic instruments in a contemporary musical context. Through their performance, they explore their tonal possibilities, the interaction between their frequencies, and their ability to generate new dialogues. The work of Pacha Wakay Munan aligns with the tradition of sound explorers such as the Peruvians Arturo Ruiz del Pozo and Luis David Aguilar or the Colombians Yaki Kandru. The album's repertoire consists of pieces that explore diverse sonorities and musical concepts. "Pacha Wakay Munanqa" introduces the timbral variety of the instruments used. "El Taki Onkoy" draws inspiration from historical accounts and the meaning of its name ("Sick Song"), based on a Culina chant documented by Rodolfo Holzmann. It features vocals by the experienced singer Ximena Men?ndez. "Mundo Posible" is a reinterpretation of an improvisation session with musicologist Chalena V?squez Rodr?guez, where the piano dialogues with ceramic antaras. Other pieces delve into the sonic construction of these instruments in relation to their cultural contexts. "Machu Tara" explores the concept of tara, a rough and vibrant sound quality found in certain Andean musical traditions. "T?pac Huaca" references the Huaca Aliaga in Lima, creating a sound palette where pututos, whistling vessels, and quenas converge. "Agua, Cuarzo y Viento" introduces quartz sikus and bowls tuned to different frequencies, evoking the interaction between natural elements and resonant vibrations. In the piece "Qinray Tema", Camilo ?ngeles plays the metal transverse flute, creating a contrast with the pre-Hispanic ceramic flutes and pelican bone flutes. El tiempo quiere cantar is released by Buh Records in digital format and in a limited vinyl edition of 300 copies.

CLUSTER Cluster 71 LP
2025 restock. 140-gram LP. Cluster's self-titled debut was originally released by Philips in 1971; this edition is the first reissue to restore the track running order of the original Philips release. Includes liner notes by electronic avant-garde pioneer Asmus Tietchens. In 1998, The Wire listed Cluster's self-titled debut as one of "100 Records That Set The World On Fire (When No One Was Listening)." Very few albums from Germany can lay claim to this honor. Cluster is a monster; it contains a mere three untitled tracks and was quite an ordeal for untrained ears when it was released. Yet the album pointed the way forward like no other electronic opus. Cluster's previous incarnation was a trio called Kluster. A change in direction and musical differences moved Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius to split from the group's third member, Conrad Schnitzler, in 1970. The following year, in addition to playing live, they recorded their first album in publisher Ralf Arnie's Star Musik Studio in Hamburg. Here they first met Conny Plank, who would himself become a legend. They remained close friends until Plank's death in 1987. Early Cluster music was new. New in the sense that it did not continue any tradition, instead laying the foundations for a future tradition. The duo's utter renunciation of conventional harmony and rhythm, embrace of near total aural abstraction, and confident use of noise, rigorous live electronic improvisation, and a positive mindset were all factors in Cluster's innovative trailblazing of 1971. For want of a better category, Cluster was classified rather inappropriately and incorrectly as "cosmic." Few recognized Cluster for what it was -- a synthesis of pop music, stripped of embarrassing glamor, and so-called serious music without intellectual constraints. Moebius and Roedelius took the liberty of raiding both disciplines to perfect their musical concept. A common enough practice today, but akin to a palace revolution in 1971. So it is that three pieces of electronic music meander and pulsate through Cluster, with no beginning and no end. Cluster's music is free and open in all directions. There are sounds, noises, and structures to be heard on this album that would become ingrained in the electronic pop music of the 1980s and 1990s. Cluster had taken the first step into the future.

ROEDELIUS Tape Archive Essence 1973-1978 LP
2025 restock; LP version. During the legendary Forst years, Roedelius had a private workspace with a Farfisa organ, a Revox-A77 tape machine, an echo device and a synthesizer which he borrowed from the Cluster studio next door now and again. Here he experimented, practiced, allowed his imagination to flow, at any hour of the day or night, whenever he was not in the studio with Dieter Moebius and/or Michael Rother at work on new Cluster or Harmonia material. Roedelius always let the tape run, in order to analyze the ideas thus captured more effectively on repeated listening. For the first time ever, this Roedelius audio sketchbook had been digitalized and available to the public in 2014 on a limited three-LP box set called Roedelius Tape Archive 1973-1978. The recordings offer a deep insight into the creative process of his music. Fleeting notes, slivers of ideas, so to speak, moments of inspiration. Finger exercises, experiments in harmony, studies in rhythm are also preserved on these magnetic tapes. Since the box set has been sold out for a long time, Bureau B decided to release the essence of those three LPs on a one-disc compilation: Roedelius Tape Archive Essence 1973-1978.

DINOSAUR JR. Without A Sound (Green Vinyl) LP
"Originally released in the summer of 1994 at the height of interest in the US underground rock scene, Without A Sound was Dinosaur Jr's sixth album, and their third major label offering. Recorded by the then two-piece band (Mike Johnson on bass and vocals, J Mascis performing everything else himself, including drums), the album saw Dinosaur Jr continue to deliver on their distinct formula, J's soulsearching songs being performed with his trademark effortlessly cool heavy style. Including classics such as 'Feel The Pain' and 'Grab It', the album remains a firm fan favorite. Released on highly collectable splatter green vinyl, this is a chance for the uninitiated and younger fans to discover a classic, and for familiar fans to revisit an album which sounds as vibrant and essential today as it did thirty years ago."

BANANE & JOSEPH SCHIANO DI LOMBO, BONNIE L'Orguasme LP
Bonnie Banane and Joseph Schiano di Lombo present L'Orguasme, an album of bawdy and devotional songs accompanied by the organ of the Cit? de la Musique/Philharmonie de Paris. Literally composed and written for pleasure, this work (of the flesh, naturally) pays tribute to the most spectacular expression of ecstasy -- a paradise so near and yet so misunderstood. From the most restrained sighs to the most dazzling vocal outbursts, from the foreplay to the eruption, not to mention the bliss that follows the incandescence, Bonnie and Joseph sing about the art of reaching seventh heaven, of genuflection and "la petite mort" ("little death" a French expression for "climax") without shying away from the darker areas: those of guilty, forbidden, feigned, or selfish pleasures, for instance. By turns light, explosive, mystical, burlesque, and poetic, this music diverts the organ from its centuries-old habits, achieving a union of the profane and the sacred, the crass and the beautiful, the body and the spirit, early music and pop -- reminding us of the essential truth: it's better to come than to cry. While the minimalism of the arrangements initially strikes the ear -- no instruments other than the organ accompany these musical escapades -- the album is infused with numerous unexpected influences: R&B ("La petite mort"), swing ("Le cri"), gospel ("Simulation blues"), jazz ("Le calme apr?s l'oeuvrette"), medieval ballads ("Ronde g?nitale, Au plaisir"), and even a famous 16th-century folk dance called the branle ("Branle [Censored]"). A sexy, lush, stripped-down, and unabashed opus, glorifying what remains glorious: love, music, and the boundless joy of creation.

VA Cocoon Compilation V 6LP BOX
Cocoon Recordings unveils the next chapter in its iconic compilation series. With its 22nd edition, Cocoon Compilation V once again bridges past and future, showcasing the essence of electronic music's constant evolution. True to the spirit of the label, this handpicked collection delivers a diverse, emotional, and forward-thinking selection that drifts through shimmering currents, pulsating machinery, and moments of pure release. Delenz & Zeitstill set the tone with "Place To Be", a smooth and warm opener that invites the listener into a meditative microcosm. Superpitcher takes listeners further into the mist with "Dream B", an ethereal and cinematic dreamscape that floats between melancholy and magic. The energy intensifies with Patrice B?umel's "Nat", a sophisticated tension-builder with a subtle pulse and haunting atmospheres. Sawlin switches gears with "Der Jasager", a deep technoid beast that hits with low-end pressure, modulated percussions, and gritty textures and spooky features. A bright contrast comes from DC Salas and his track "Escapism." Psychedelic, synth-heavy, and effortlessly groovy, it channels the playful side of electronic storytelling. With Tal Fussman's "Eyes", listeners are taken into euphoric territory. This stomper is a conversation between piano and strings, rising above crisp grooves, weaving emotion and momentum with finesse. On the second half of the journey, legendary Ken Ishii teams up with Yuada to deliver "Split Second," a bold, wild and crazy techno excursion full of mechanical grace and Japanese precision. Marcel Fengler's "Aura" follows, powerful and deep, pushing air like an engine through tunnels of tension and light. Imp?rieux brings "Kala," a track both twisted and beautiful. Its detuned hypnotic melodies and skewed harmonics are unsettling in the best way while the unconventional rhythms cloak the entire track in a mysterious aura. Joe Metzenmacher injects wildness and attitude into the mix with "Da Freak." Fuzzy, distorted synths collide with a funky bassline, sharp guitar stabs, and mad bleep effects, bringing the raw groove and dancefloor chaos of a bygone funk era into a futuristic setting. Joseph Capriati debuts on Cocoon with "Cosmopop" and surprises with an unexpected stylistic shift. To close, Matthias Schildger offers "Distorter," a raw and emotional cut that leaves room to breathe while keeping the mind spinning. From sunrise moments to peak-time madness, Cocoon Compilation V captures the full spectrum of what dance music can be. Transcendent, visceral and endlessly evolving.

RESIDENTS, THE Doctor Dark (Double Vinyl Edition) 2LP
"Over two years in the making, the brand-new studio album from The Residents featuring the story of Maggot and Mark -- two young heavy metal fans -- and the mysterious Doctor Anastasia Dark, a disgraced visionary who offers those who need it THE GIFT. Veering from blissed out electronica to thrash metal as only The Residents can, and produced with the San Francisco Conservatory Of Music alongside several familiar guests and collaborators, Doctor Dark is the latest masterpiece of storytelling from San Francisco's weirdest beat combo. 'The Buddha said that life is misery. For the terminally ill, dying in pain, life is misery compounded - but what comes next? Is there a heaven, a nirvana, a paradise with 72 virgins for every martyr? No one knows, but what is known is that nothing makes humans more uncomfortable than death -- the ultimate unknown, the other side of zero, the everlasting void. But maybe death is nothing more than a warm feeling, after a lifetime of whatever misery we choose to embrace, suggesting that nothing is quite so satisfying as one more dip into a lovely river, endlessly flowing into forever. Maybe it is possible to die happily ever after.' -- The Residents"

COURETTES, THE The Soul Of: The Fabulous Courettes (Orange Vinyl) LP
"The Courettes are back with their fourth and best album to date -- The Soul Of The Fabulous Courettes. And this time, they're bigger, wider and deeper than ever before as they add more to the blistering ramalama that's seen them cause pandemonium across the venues, festivals and airwaves of the UK, Europe, USA and Japan. Hitting the sweet spot that straddles garage rock, girl groups, doo-wop harmonies, heartache and all points in between, here The Courettes build on the momentum of predecessor Back In Mono with a collection of songs that opens up their sonic scope while confronting dark, emotional matter to reveal The Soul Of The Fabulous Courettes. 'We didn't want to do Back In Mono 2',' stresses drummer Martin Couri. 'We always try to put ourselves into a zone of discomfort, which I think is where exciting things happen rather than just doing the same thing over again,' agrees singer, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Flavia Couri. 'I mean, I know some bands can do that but we don't see ourselves making the same album for the next 20 years. We thought Back In Mono was our best album until this one!' She's not wrong. Having evolved with each album release, The Soul Of The Fabulous Courettes draws inspiration from many of the duo's numerous idols that have only previously been hinted at. 'We wanted to show our love of the Spector Wall Of Sound and Motown,' reveals Flavia. 'It was a clear mission and we've absolutely nailed it.'"

HANSON, CORY I Love People CD
"Like a sweet spring breeze after a long, cruel winter, Cory Hanson's blowing through town again. And like the wind, I Love People comes from parts unknown. Followers of Cory's twin arcs as solo singer and Wand member will be intrigued to learn that the lineup here is the same band that recorded 2024's Vertigo. That's Robbie Cody co-producing behind the desk, Evan Backer playing bass and arranging strings and horns, Evan Burrows on drums and percussion and Cory on piano, guitars and voices and songs. I Love People bugs out to the wtf-ness on the edge of town spied now and again on Cory's previous solos, Pale Horse Rider and Western Cum. Here though, the simmering shades of Rider's quiet horror and the bursts of Cum's cartoonish, gun-slinger bravado have given way to an ever-more impartial view of life on the ground, tinted in gossamer sepia and other nostalgic tones. Written over the past several annums, Cory's songs ensnare the '70s singer-songwriter in a feedback loop, drawing additional inspiration from the indelible everyman melodies of the American Songbook. With gilded threads and emboldened needling, I Love People's songs are rendered with immediacy and a deep-pile Hollywood production sound that radiates affluence and comfort, even in the darkest and coldest nights way out beyond the range of any signal. Placed and displaced among gorgeously outfitted musical arrangements, I Love People's people are kin to their threadbare folk forbears. Song by song, their occupations, social positions and dispositions unravel like silk into the wind. While they perform, Cory loiters backstage, gently pulling at the curtain to reveal silly details hidden in plain sight inside America's broken heart. It doesn't come as a surprise, and it's not strictly funny, either: a giddy mash of the two, the delirium that comes from finding what you think is 'true' is someone else's 'false.' When maps won't help you find out where you are anymore, you're as normal and horrible as the next person, playing out your days in a place of constant activity with your parallax view progressing invisibly into a limbo beyond the horizon. That's your freedom for you, and it might be more sad, more terrifying -- if it weren't so much fun! Even though their subject won't stop squirming, Cory and his merry men have constructed a timeless still life with I Love People, simply by living for the fun and love of it all."

EL MICHELS AFFAIR Enter the 37th Chamber LP
2025 repress. Black vinyl. "With one foot in the past but their eyes firmly set on the future, El Michels Affair are among the leaders of a resurgent funk & soul movement from New York City that's sweeping both the music community and the charts. Led by saxophonist/organist Leon Michels and producer/engineer Jeff Silverman, El Michels Affair began as a loose collaboration of session musicians (including members of top-selling acts Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, the Budos Band, and Antibalas) that looked to blend some of the vibrant quality of soundtrack records with the recording aesthetic of early reggae, and the rawness of 60's rock -- they called it 'Cinematic Soul.' This delicate balance was evident on their 2005 debut album Sounding Out the City, which earned critical acclaim and acted as the inaugural full-length release for Michels and Silverman's burgeoning label Truth & Soul (also the moniker for the duo as a production team). The buzz generated from the album and a series of moderately successful 7" vinyl singles from Truth & Soul led to an invitation by Toyota's Scion division for El Michels Affair to accompany the rapper Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan for a promotional concert. As avid Wu-Tang fans, not only were the band leaders thrilled with the opportunity, but Michels found that the 'Cinematic Soul' sound was consistent with the moods of RZA's gritty soundscapes on the classic Wu-Tang releases. The concert was such as success, El Michels Affair went on to play several more concerts nationwide backing Raekwon and other members of the Clan, and the shows led to the recording of two smash 7" singles featuring instrumental reinterpretations of the Wu-Tang classic songs 'C.R.E.A.M.' and 'Bring Da Ruckus.' The singles combined to sell an extraordinary amount of over 7,000 units worldwide, and their success led to a contract in 2007 with indie hip hop powerhouse Fat Beats Records to record an entire album of Wu-Tang Clan interpolations entitled Enter the 37th Chamber. Since the contract was inked, a worldwide explosion of retro soul led by Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, and Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings has transformed the pop music landscape, and the Truth & Soul production duo have been in strong demand, recording with everyone from breakthrough Grammy-nominated artist Adele to punk rock innovator Iggy Pop. They've been commissioned for official remixes of Amy Winehouse and Dinah Washington (for the popular Verve Remixed series), and produced for Australian multi-platinum acts Jet and Gabriella Cilmi. Despite the eclectic group of clients for the Truth & Soul production company, El Michels Affair continued to build an audience within the hip hop community. A track from Sounding Out The City was sampled for Ghostface Killah's 2007 track 'Shakey Dog Lolita,' and a horn part written and performed by Michels (for Menahan Street Band) was famously lifted for Jay-Z's smash single 'Roc Boys.'"

F.L. Resonance 01 12"
Glossy Mistakes reissues Resonance 01, a proto-house and trance milestone from Belgium from 1992. Resonance 01 is the groundbreaking debut EP by Belgian producer Fabrice Lagrange, created in collaboration with Frank Beekman and originally released in 1992. Long overlooked, this forward-thinking record captures a pivotal moment in the early European evolution of house and trance -- melding minimalism, emotion, and club-oriented experimentation into a sound that remains strikingly fresh over three decades later. Resonance 01 stands among the earliest European records to explore the fertile intersection of hypnotic house rhythms and atmospheric trance. The A-side, featuring "The Awakening Earth" and "Pure Self," channels a stripped-down yet euphoric energy -- deeply inspired by the spirit of Detroit techno but undeniably forward-looking. As Frank Beekman recalls: "This record was recorded in a very simple studio, with minimal gear, inspired by the Detroit techno sound." On the B-side, the EP ventures further into experimental territory. "Paris By Night" offers a dreamy, tech-tinged house excursion, leading into "Redondanz," a meditative downtempo closer that perfectly encapsulates the release's subtle charm. The enduring appeal of Resonance 01 lies in its restraint: crafted with minimal tools, it delivers maximum emotional depth. It seamlessly blends hazy trance atmospheres, early house grooves, and ambient-inflected textures, capturing the open-minded, exploratory ethos of early '90s electronic music. Now remastered for vinyl by Wouter Brandenburg, Resonance 01 returns in pristine form -- faithfully preserving its original character while bringing new clarity to its timeless sound.

4 LEVELS OF EXISTENCE, THE 4 Levels of Existence LP
Psychedelic hard-rock Holy Grail, originally released by this Greek band in 1976 but sounding more akin to late '60s/early '70s. Highly recommended to fans of heavy-fuzz guitars, think Dark, Fire, Open Mind, or even Spacemen 3 circa Revolution. The 4 Levels Of Existence (?? 4 ??????? ??? ???????) formed around 1974 in Athens from the ashes of a band called Frog's Eyes. Some of their influences were groups like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Who, or Iron Butterfly as well as traditional Greek music. They recorded their sole album in just ten hours with no overdubs and it was eventually released (500 copies only) on the small Venus label. IT'S ALL MEAT It's All Meat LP
Official reissue of this sought-after Canadian psychedelic hard-rock album from 1970. Formed in Toronto in the late '60s, It's All Meat (the name was taken from a dog food commercial!) soon caught the attention of influential character Jack London (frontman of pre-Steppenwolf band Jack London and the Sparrows) who managed the band and secured a deal with major label Columbia Records. After recording their first 45, the proto-punk MC5/Stones sounding "Feel It," the band started working on their first album with the tandem of Jed MacKay and Rick McKim as main songwriters. It's All Meat was released in 1970 and offered a powerful mix of garage-rock, psychedelia and early hard-rock, drawing influences from bands like the Stones, Country Joe & The Fish, Doors, Velvet Underground -- tracks like "Roll My Own" or the lysergic "Crying Into The Deep Lake" are now considered classics of the genre. Sadly, the band would split soon after the LP was released. Original artwork in gatefold sleeve and remastered sound in 24-bit domain. Includes insert with liner notes by Plastic Crimewave and rare photos/memorabilia. Includes download card with non-LP singles and rare tracks.

EYES, THE My Degeneration LP
Retrospective of British mod/freakbeat/pop-art heroes The Eyes including all their cult classic 45s ("When The Night Falls," "I'm Rowed Out," "My Degeneration") plus cool rare tracks sourced from demos and acetates. Formed in London in 1964, The Eyes took the early feedback experiments and pop art image of bands like the Who one step further. The band wore dyed parkas in various pastel colors and brightly colored rugby shirts with huge eye symbols on the chest. Their raw, energetic sound and distinctive style combined aggressive, fuzz-driven guitar riffs with catchy melodies and a youthful defiance that captured the energy of the London mod scene. Their music bridged rawness freakbeat with the emerging psychedelic sound that would dominate the latter half of the decade. Tracks like the feedback-laden "When The Night Falls" or the fuzzed-out "You're Too Much" sounded years ahead of its time and they would influence the mod, garage revival and indie/shoegaze scene of the following decades. The Eyes only released a handful of singles between 1965 and 1966. They disbanded in 1967 and unfortunately they never released a full album during their short lifespan. Here it is! Remastered sound. Includes eight-page color insert with liner notes by Paul "Smiler" Anderson and rare photos/memorabilia, along with download card.

BOLDER DAMN Mourning LP
Absolute monster when talking about US hard-rock/proto-doom private pressings. Hailing from Florida, Bolder Damn released this beast in 1971. Ultra-heavy, "raw-in-your-face" sound with loud fuzzed-out guitar, solid rhythm section and manic vocals. Bolder Damn formed in 1969 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The original lineup consisted of John Anderson on vocals and rhythm guitar, Glenn Eaton on lead guitar, Ron Refett on bass, Mark Gaspard on keyboards, and Bob Eaton on drums. Initially performing covers, they gradually incorporated original material into their sets. Their energetic live performances led them to open for notable acts such as Alice Cooper, MC5, The Amboy Dukes, and Blue Cheer. In 1971, after Gaspard's departure, the remaining members recorded their sole album, Mourning, at Hyperbolic Studios in Florida. The recording session lasted only four hours, resulting in a raw, in-your-face heavy sound. The album was privately pressed with approximately 200 copies distributed mainly to friends, family, and local fans. Side 2 featured the 16-minute epic "Dead Meat," which reflects the band's heavy, proto-doom style, reminiscent of contemporaries like Black Sabbath and Blue Cheer. In 1972 Anderson and Refett were drafted into military service during the Vietnam War, leading to Bolder Damn's dissolution. Comes with original artwork in hard cardboard sleeve plus OBI. Remastered sound. Fold-out insert with liner notes/interview with singer John Anderson and rare pictures. Includes download card. RIYL: Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer, Pentagram, MC5, Sainte Anthony's Fyre.

BLACK HONEY CULT Black Honey Cult (Black/White/Red Vinyl) LP
LP version. Black/white/red color vinyl. Even the name is mysterious -- Black Honey Cult evokes a sense of intrigue and the otherworldly, a fitting moniker for a band born out of deep roots in Los Angeles' storied underground music scene. The story begins in the early '90s, when Johnny DeVilla and Jake Cavaliere first crossed paths, performing in various bands at the legendary JabberJaw, a hub for raw talent and boundary-pushing sound. Fast forward to 2003, when Spencer Robinson joined forces with Jake and Johnny in The Lords of Altamont, solidifying a creative bond that has endured for decades. Over the years, this trio found themselves collaborating time and again, refining their chemistry and exploring new sonic landscapes. It wasn't until 2010 that Black Honey Cult began to take shape, though the journey to a definitive lineup was a winding road. After several incarnations, the band finally coalesced into its current form with the addition of Garey Snider on drums, and Travis Petersen on guitar, whose contributions completed the puzzle. Jake and Garey, longtime conspirators with a shared desire to work together, brought their vision to fruition, creating a group that feels both destined and uniquely fresh. Drawing inspiration from pioneers like The Velvet Underground and psychedelic icons, The 13th Floor Elevators, Black Honey Cult infuses their sound with shades of early goth, post-punk, and krautrock. The result? A hypnotic, genre-defying blend of dark, atmospheric psychedelia that transports listeners to another plane -- like dropping LSD on Mars. The band's sound was brought to life by the legendary Paul Roessler (of Screamers and 45 Grave fame) at Kitten Robot Studios, a perfect match for their haunting and transportive vision. Black Honey Cult stands as a testament to years of collaboration, creativity, and perseverance, offering an immersive experience for those ready to step into their enigmatic world. Prepare to follow the cult and lose yourself in the spellbinding sounds of Black Honey Cult.

DEMUIR New Spirit EP 12"
House music doesn't get much funkier than Demuir's New Spirit EP. Whether it's the classic sampling on the title track -- an homage to his mother -- or the rolling funk bass and vocal chops on "Ain't no stoppin'". The man behind so many great house records has kept himself rather busy with building his own fanbase, openly debating the role that big platforms play and the firm grip they have on talent. Rather than conforming to the standard route, Demuir chooses to navigate the winding road of building his own following through his production classes, engineering and music releases through artist-first channels like Patreon. His recent move from Toronto to Chicago feels perfectly in line with the sound Demuir is bringing forward on his first record on Heist since his 2019 classic "Werq, feel, gruv, vogue." Those six years were well worth the wait: The New Spirit EP is a perfectly-balanced mix of creativity, confidence and character. The Demuir sound is instantly audible throughout the release and he's not afraid to make bold choices. Each track has its own identity, its own place on the record and it's one of the things that make this record stand out in the best way possible. The forward-leaning grooves, the tight mixing and the classic use of soulful samples are a treat to listen and dance to. There's hints of the '90s New York sound ("New Spirit"), soulful disco-tinged grooves his new home-town is known for ("Ain't no stoppin'"), lean-back and summery melodic grooves ("No Minions Allowed") and deep, bass-heavy dubby grooves ("Whatchu Want Is All I Got") to remind everyone that Demuir is an absolute master of modern-day house music.

VA The Sunset Manifesto Volume 2 CD
How Do You Are? are back with another chapter in its ongoing series of unearthing smooth vibes from all over the world. This time, the label goes back to the future for you with: The Sunset Manifesto Volume 2. After a five-year break mainly concentrating on the late '70s/early '80s Westcoast Soul/Yacht/AOR sound, HDYA finally dives deep into the modern world of its beloved sister-label Too Slow To Disco NEO. TSTD NEO is the outlet DJ Supermarkt is using to unearth modern laidback, smooth, sunny slow disco vibes with a soulful Westcoast/Balearic touch. For him TSTD always has been about a laidback vibe/feeling, not a certain time period in musical history. And that sunny Westcoast vibe HDYA dug out on those traditional TSTD compilations has become a huge influence to so many modern artists. So it makes sense that the label presents the cream of new slo/mo nu-disco/dunset disco/daytime disco acts in the TSTD format, a luxurious compilation, with artists from all across the globe: Not only from the two homelands of that modern slow disco sound, Los Angeles/California and France, but also from Beijing, Montreal, Mexico, London, New York, Stockholm, Rotterdam. This music is more a state of mind, a feeling, then a geographical thing. Featuring Poolside, Woolfy, Prep & Eddie Chacon, Turbotito, Young Gun Silver Fox, Lovetempo, Kimchii, Goodvibes Sound, Nicholas Cangiano, Moi Je, B.U.M.P., 1-900, Moods & Nic Hanson, BowAsWell, and Joel Sarakula.

POSPIESZALSKI OCTET & ZOH AMBA, MAREK Now! LP
"Brand new studio album from Marek Pospieszalski Octet featuring Zoh Amba. 'This band turned out to be an effective working unit from day one,' Pospieszalski admits. 'Its musical concepts leave a lot of space for creative playing and that's why I decided to use the Octet as a platform open for outside participation. One of the musicians I considered for this purpose was Zoh who is well recognized for her direct and limitless approach to music. And this opportunity came on the occasion of our concert at NOSPR concert hall in Katowice. The next day we visited Emil Berliner Studios where the album was recorded,' he explains. For most of the music recorded here, sheet music is treated only as a guideline, a rough entry point, and it's only thanks to collective improvisation that Now! sounds as good and coherent as an album. 'And that's one of the reasons why I decided to add titles only once the music got recorded,' Pospieszalski says. 'And despite the fact that I am being really direct here, I prefer to have listeners interpret the album's message on their own. Individual context is key here -- place, time and most importantly, personal emotions.' Leading a 9-person band may seem like a challenge on a lot of levels but Pospieszalski prefers to treat it as a set of new opportunities instead. 'Although everything here is focused on my artistic vision, it wouldn't sound as good if it weren't for other musicians involved,' he admits. 'Each member of the group has their influence over the final result of our collective playing. I tend to give them direction but it is up to them to interpret it.'"

THEE J JOHANZ Lucy's Electricity 12"
From a 4x5m room stacked with vinyl, ashtrays, magazine drafts, and semi-functional synths, "Stompin n Risin" rises again -- reincarnated but not revised. Originally a spontaneous ritual from the days of blunted dreaming and one-eye-open ambition, this track first snuck into the world under a different name (Jacobite Fool, courtesy of those tasteful Belgians at International Feel) and went on to become a cult curio. Now, it's back -- rebuilt with the very same machines that once hummed beside the mattress, but still left to run wild like they used to. The rest of the EP stays close to that spirit: music as lived experience, jammed with friends, lovers, and ex-boyfriends (literally). "Lucy's Electricity" is a shimmering daydream, born from a jam with Daniele Labbate, recharged by a whirlwind wedding, and soundtracked by a bittersweet guitar line courtesy of the groom's bride's ex. A track for walking into churches -- or out of time entirely. A personal favorite of the artist, and maybe the only funeral anthem with this much static joy. One takes things inward -- made with the Moog One for open-air yoga sessions during the era of no-dancing-but-still-dreaming. It's a sundappled, slow-motion dancefloor where breath and bass align. "Love 2" Love closes the circle: an unearthed jam with long-time collaborator and platonic supermodel Hanne Uekermann, revived from hard drive purgatory and infused with new life. A love song to the music, the moments, and the friendship behind it. This record isn't just a collection of tracks. It's a lived-in photo album, a soft pulse through oceanic memory, a reminder that all sound comes from life, and maybe all life comes from sound.

LINIKER CAJU CD
Second album by Brazil's upcoming star, Liniker. A seamless blend of pop, samba, jazz, R&B, and house. Featuring Lulu Santos, Pabllo Vittar, Tropkillaz, Melly, Priscila Senna, Baianasystem, Amaro Freitas, and Anavit?ria. Born in Araraquara/S?o Paulo, Liniker is a multitalented artist -- singer, songwriter, music producer, and actress -- whose passion for the arts began in childhood. Influenced by her mother and uncles, who were active in samba rock circles, Liniker's early musical experiences planted the seeds for her future career. Today she is one of the most exciting Brazilian artists. In 2022, she won the Best Brazilian Album category at the Latin Grammy Awards with Indigo Borboleta Anil. In 2023, Liniker became immortalized by the Brazilian Academy of Culture, taking the seat once held by Elza Soares, the eternal Brazilian singer. Liniker's sophomore album CAJU has quickly become a classic in Brazilian popular music. The album's 14 tracks -- some extending beyond seven minutes -- demonstrate Liniker's commitment to artistic expression over commercial constraints. Liniker showcases versatility and artistic growth through a seamless blend of pop, samba, jazz, R&B, and house. Songs like "Veludo Marrom," "Tudo," and "Ao Teu Lado" shine for their musical complexity and emotional depth. Its success led to multiple wins at 2024 Multishow Brazilian Music Awards, including Artist and Album of the Year.

BRYLHO Brylho LP
A true embodiment of Brazilian boogie, this is the first official reissue of Brylho's album, founded in Rio de Janeiro in 1978 as Brylho da Cidade. The group was influenced by the Black Rio movement of Tim Maia, Cassiano, and others. Members included Arnaldo Brand?o (vocals/bass), Paulo Roquette (guitar), Cl?udio Zoli (guitar/vocals), Rob?rio Rafael (drums), Bol?o (percussion), and Ricardo Cristaldi (keyboard). Claudio Zoli stands out as an important funk artist of the 1980s, during a time when pop rock bands dominated the Brazilian music scene. This album features one of the biggest hits of 1983: the soulful reggae groove "Noite do Prazer." Often described as Rio de Janeiro's answer to George Benson's "Give Me the Night," it's a timeless classic that bridges funk, soul, and Brazilian grooves. On "Se Voc? For a Salvador," a sun-soaked, feel-good boogie track, younger generations have embraced a new term to describe the sound: Brazilian City Pop. The record also delivers dancefloor heat like the stomping "J?ia Rara," the vibrant soul-reggae fusion "Destrava Maria," the ahead-of-its- time rap-funk hybrid "Cheque Sem Fundo," and the electrifying samba-reggae "P? de Guerra," rich with Bahian rhythms and energy. Closing out the album are two under-the-radar jazz-funk gems: "Meditando" and "171." Though often lumped into the boogie category, these tracks lean more toward the sleek 1980s jazz-funk sound, reminiscent of UK acts like Level 42.

MARIA, TANIA Apresentamos LP
Recorded live in one session at age 18, this album helped launch Tania Maria's career as an acclaimed Brazilian jazz artist, celebrated for her virtuoso combination of piano and vocals. Produced by Romeo Nunes (Meirelles e Os Copa 5, Rio 65 Trio, Elis Regina, Elza Soares), the album features the pioneering Edison Machado, who transformed samba and was instrumental in the development of Bossa Nova through his groundbreaking "samba no prato" (samba on the cymbals) technique. His work helped shape the sounds of Jobim, Getz, and Milton Nascimento. On guitar is the legendary Neco, who played on over 500 albums. Initially self-taught, he later studied under maestros Guerra Peixe and Moacir Santos. He collaborated with icons like Elis Regina and Chico Buarque, and was a member of Os Ipanemas, Os Catedr?ticos, and Os Gatos. His solo work includes Velvet Bossa Nova (1966), which became an acid jazz favorite. The album features compositions by Caetano Veloso and Marcos Valle, alongside early samba classics. Blending Brazilian rhythms with elements of samba, bossa nova, and jazz fusion, it captures the early development of Tania Maria's signature style. Born in S?o Lu?s, Brazil in 1948, Tania Maria began playing piano at age seven. She learned samba, jazz, and chorinho through her father's weekend jam sessions. Leading her own band by age 13, she performed across the region while collecting records from influential artists. Though she earned a law degree and started a family, her passion for music ultimately won out -- she left law to pursue music full-time.

"This compelling album presents works by Israeli composer Chaya Czernowin, exploring the fragile balance between destruction and communication, control and surrender. 'Seltene Erde' transforms the double bass and ensemble into a shifting landscape of illusion and resonance, evoking the invisible forces shaping our world. 'Atara,' born from the isolation of 2020, is a powerful orchestral lament, where vast sonic masses collide with the delicate voices of two singers, lost yet luminous. Through these works, Czernowin crafts a deeply visceral experience -- where sound becomes both raw material and fleeting shadow, revealing the unseen forces that shape existence."

MOONEE Brotherhood EP 12"

One of Fran?ois Lefevre's main aliases, Moonee explores the airier side of dance music, crafting deeply immersive sonic experiences that evoke introspection and escapism. While initially focused on deep house, his sound has evolved across recent releases, particularly on his Sandquest LP for OATH. His finely curated approach highlights fluid, intuitive soundscapes that invite repeat listens. His new EP, Brotherhood, is perhaps his most refined and carefully poised work to date. The title track's "Glitched" version opens with a sense of urgency, combining a stepping garage beat, lo-fi vocal snippets, and deep basslines. "Existenz" follows, elevating four-on- the-floor energy with intricate rhythmic textures and a rich, orchestral-like melodic palette. "Panorama" rounds off the EP's initial arc with playful vocal samples and an uplifting bassline -- perfect for late-night city wanderings. Closing out the release, Oath affiliate Moomin reinterprets the title track with an electro-infused remix. More understated than the original, his version builds gradually, offering a masterclass in energy control. For those seeking enriching grooves, entrancing melodies, and warmth, Brotherhood delivers. It's a journey through electronic currents, shifting effortlessly between moments of calm and surging energy -- press play and dive in.

SISAMOUTH, SINN Groove Club Vol. 5: Sinn Sisamouth Vol. 2 LP
"Several years in the making, Lion can now finally deliver on its promise of another Groove Club volume dedicated to the deep and moving (and grooving) compositions of Sinn Sisamouth, sung by the Emperor of Khmer music himself, alone or duetting with the other legendary singer of those halcyon days in Cambodian music: Ros Sereysothea, the 'Queen with the Golden Voice.' Groove Club Vol. 5 also includes a 16-page booklet featuring an exclusive interview with Mrs. Khav Thong Nhot, widow of Sinn Sisamouth, and Sin Sethsochhata, artist and granddaughter of Sinn Sisamouth, revealing more about Sinn Sisamouth than has ever been known before now. Readers hear directly from his wife about their courtship, their life together as Sinn Sisamouth became famous -- and then what happened as the Khmer Rouge took control: the separation from her husband, and her own harrowing experiences trying to keep herself and their children alive. It's not easy reading, yet stands as an important contribution to a story which until now has only been partially told. Sinn Sisamouth's granddaughter, Sin Sethsochhata, a musical artist and also keeper of the family's legacy, speaks of her own experiences in both realms. Sinn Sisamouth is, without question, the most famous and beloved Cambodian singer and songwriter of all time. A brilliant singer and composer, 'the Emperor of Khmer music' has had a greater influence and has touched more hearts than any other singer in the country's history. Though he was tragically taken from this world, his soul, spirit, and emotions are echoed in the legacy of songs he bequeathed to the world, and for this reason, he is eternal. The fact that any of this music even exists today is nothing short of miraculous. Original vinyl is extremely rare -- and well-guarded! Lion has done its utmost to make the sound quality of the songs as good as can be without in any way treating or disrupting or limiting (or destroying) the frequency range of the tracks. This means that a few tracks might sound less than audiophile quality. But who cares! It's about the music. It's always about the music. And the stories. Mostly the music. Although this time, very much about the stories too. Official reissue -- and in most cases, first appearance of any kind -- of these insanely rare recordings since their initial release as singles."

CARNEY, JEFF Skylogue LP
"Following the ambitious all-analog explorations of Imperfect Space Journeys (1988) and Live Electronic Music (1989), Jeff Carney was determined to push further into new sonic territories and to continue to strive for even more originality while not yielding to the prevailing trend towards digital synthesis. And so, in 1990, Jeff Carney recorded some of his most ambitious analog electronic music. Those recordings were once thought to be lost -- rumors about their existence made the rounds -- but the long lost third solo album never materialized. Now comes Skylogue. Produced by Eroc and Jeff Carney and featuring a special guest appearance by Richard Pinhas, Skylogue reaches into cosmic territory that stays true to the masters of '70s electronic music while also managing to encompass a completely original and unprecedented musical statement. 'In fifty-plus years of doing this, I've never covered anybody else's music, but I may have to record this piece for a Heldon album. That should tell you what I think of it,' says Richard Pinhas, speaking about 'The Landscapes of Death,' on which he contributed his distinctive electric guitar. The album has been transferred from the original analog master tapes by Jeff Carney. Newly mixed by Eroc and Jeff Carney and prepared for vinyl cutting in HD 24/96 resolution."

TRAIDORES Radio Babilonia LP
Butterfly Records presents a vinyl reissue of Radio Babilonia, the fourth electrifying studio album by Uruguayan band Traidores. The album was originally released on CD and cassette in 1995 and it stands as one of the most representative works of their career. In Radio Babilonia voices of Juan Casanova and V?ctor Nattero converge into a symphony of intense emotions and profound reflections. Each note resonates with their musical legacy, rising as a testament to the reality that surrounded them, where pain and beauty intertwine in a powerful auditory experience. With a style that defies convention, their lyrics transport listeners to a world of poetic chronicles, inviting them to explore the catastrophes of the present and future through their vibrant and critical lens. This album from 1995 is a masterpiece for those who seek an authentic and moving sound -- a sonic journey that reflects its time and makes a bold statement. Songs like "M?quina" and "Cr?nica del Sur" explore inner turmoil and fracture realities, wrapped in melodic brilliance and sharp arrangements. Nattero's guitar work shines, especially in tracks like "Ella sabe bien" and "Pasajero de un tren," where a sense of d?j? vu echoes through the lyrics. Side A closes with the haunting waltz "Como una plegaria," evoking blood-stained devotion. Side B deepens the album's mystique, offering lucid hope through punk anthems like "Enemigo del mundo" and "Fragmentos de m?." It culminates in the defiant "Canci?n rebelde." Traidores channel poetic rage into a powerful, redemptive soundtrack for a disenchanted era.

RISING SEED True Lies LP
Founded in 2020 by Austrian producer Lee Stevens, Rising Seed has evolved into a joint venture with Ken Hayakawa and a collective of guest musicians. Blending acid jazz, trip hop, and disco, the project bridges the warmth of live instrumentation with the depth of electronic production. With a strong focus on recording and re sampling real instruments, Rising Seed crafts a rich, organic sound -- where vintage samplers, drum machines, and analog textures meet hypnotic grooves and cinematic atmospheres. Inspired by artists like Moby, Kruder & Dorfmeister, and Massive Attack, their debut album True Lies unfolds like a layered collage, blurring the lines between past and future, truth and illusion. The opening track, "Follow Me," perfectly embodies this fusion: sampled instruments and vocal snippets blend seamlessly with live recordings of flute and saxophone, all set against a funky drum break. "Gone West" does the unthinkable -- marrying a house groove with esoteric vocals, live sitar by Amrith Jan, and -- why not? -- a touch of harmonica. "Like A Lion" is a dub-infused downbeat track packed with crusty blues samples. On "Freedom," listeners hear a more minimalist side of Rising Seed, with a tight brush-drum arrangement and densely layered sitar melodies. Another high point is "Soldier of Peace," featuring even more funky sitar and a subtle acid line, reminiscent of the early days of big beat. It's followed by "True Lies," which elegantly distills the downbeat sound of the late '90s while staying true to the Rising Seed formula. "Psych Jazz" is, as the title suggests, both psychedelic and jazzy, albeit with a somber, low-slung trip-hop feel, while "Don't Worry" is equally trippy yet more upbeat, carried by a moaning vocal sample that urges listeners not to worry. Finally, "Stay with Me" closes the album with a jazz-infused vibe that is both moody and uplifting, its shuffling drum groove and elegant piano melodies providing a fitting conclusion.

DUO OURO NEGRO Iemenja/Aruandai 7"
In 1969 Duo Ouro Negro went on tour to the United States. Their experience there was decisive for what would come to be known three years later. "Don't forget your blackground" Raul Indipwo would exclaim in 1972, the voice of Blackground, the Angolan band's landmark album. Awakened to the activism of Black Power, attentive to the jazz that was being created on American soil, combined with an interest in the independence movements of the African colonies, what was then the most international of Portuguese bands recorded an album in Lisbon that was a vibrant cultural statement through music. In 1981, Blackground was revised with new arrangements, including the instrumental "Iemenj?" and "Aruanda?." Jazz-funk at its best and now re-edited by digei de bairro. You can't miss this jazz-funk gem made in Angola. Download card included.

CRUTCHFIELD'S DARK DAY, R.L. Exterminating Angel CD
"All 13 songs on Exterminating Angel use cheap synthesizers to create cyclical, machine-like keyboard riffs as a foundation for the moody, Teutonic music. Crutchfield sings like a lost member of Kraftwerk with a dry detachment creating a starker and chillier atmosphere. Lyrics were derived from cut-up methods similar to those used by the surrealists, fluxus artists, and William Burroughs and Bryon Gysin and pit the subjected against their torments and tormentors. All songs on Exterminating Angel were originally recorded at Sorcerer Sound, NYC. 1979 and produced by Charles Ball."

BLACKBIRDS No Destination LP
"Formed in Germany in the 1960s The Blackbirds gained recognition as part of the burgeoning beat and psychedelic rock scene in Germany. The band was active in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and their sound was influenced by the British Invasion and American rock and roll, blending elements of psychedelia, beat music, and early progressive rock. Their albums, such as No Destination recorded in 1968, received some attention in the underground music scene, characterized by experimental soundscapes, melodic harmonies, and a distinctive 1960s rock influence. Though The Blackbirds didn't achieve widespread international fame, they remain a notable part of Germany's rock history, especially within the context of the Krautrock and psychedelic rock movements."

DECIMA VICTIMA En El Garaje LP
2025 repress. "After many years, we've recovered a rehearsal session that we had recorded on an old cassette tape. It had originally been laid down on a four-track recorder but unfortunately the tape got lost. The story of these tracks goes back to the last weekend of October 1983, when we went to record at Paco Trinidad's family home in the mountains north of Madrid. It was unexpectedly cold that weekend and we weren't prepared for the drop in temperatures . . . Paco recorded our latest songs on a four-track tape recorder at the house. It was done live, except for extra takes of Lars playing the clarinet and some guitar details. The garage sound, as the name suggests, was achieved in the garage and an adjoining room where Jos? Brena played the drums. I used to write most of the lyrics . . . On this tape the track 'Una Vez M?s' is instrumental and it's been so long now that we don't remember if it was like that at the time or if we hadn't defined the vocal melody yet. I rewrote most of the lyrics for the studio edition of the tracks on Un Hombre Solo (1984), with the exception of Lars's version of 'La Frontera Perdida'. It's not that his lyrics weren't good but I was more comfortable singing the words I wrote, as they felt more intimate . . . we always registered the songs as group compositions, drawing no distinctions between lyrics and music. The sleeve design is by Lars, who designed all the covers to our records. It's a photo montage of our performance for the Maqueta de Oro (Gold Demo) at the Diario Pop awards in March 1983, plus another photo of the band in the dressing room at Rock-Ola after playing our last gig. ?urea Cun? carried out the research and coordination among friends of friends in order to find photos of the group. The project for this record began months ago, when Per and his wife, ?urea, commented that they had listened again to the cassette tape of D?cima V?ctima that they kept in their storage room and had realized the power we had as a band. They said it was an interesting item for collectors and we should release it..." --Carlos Entrena, 2019

DECIMA VICTIMA Decima Victima LP
2025 repress. D?cima V?ctima were a Spanish band that, during their short-lived career between 1981 and 1984, developed a very personal sound reminiscent of Joy Division, The Cure, and other British post-punk bands. Despite commercial success evaded them, rarely has any Spanish band achieved such a high degree of quality and coherence in their music and personality. Although included in Munster's past release MR 305 (2010) as part of a limited-edition boxset, this is the first time their debut album gets an official reissue in its original single LP format. For this edition, the sound of the original tape recordings has been cleaned and improved and the artwork has been slightly modified following the band's original idea. Despite only being active for under three years, D?cima V?ctima left a long-lasting legacy, and their influence would later be heard in Spanish bands such as Family, Los Planetas, and Sr Chinarro. In 1981, brothers Lars and Per Mertanen formed the instrumental band Clausula Tenebrosa. After a show they started talking about the possibility of rehearsing with Carlos, a friend at the time and ex-singer of the recently split Ejecutivos Agresivos. That's how the story of D?cima V?ctima started, rehearsing with a drum machine in the cellar of the Mertanens' house in Madrid. The first single came out in 1982, with Lars playing drums on it. Soon after, Los Esclarecidos introduced them to Jose Brena and he joined D?cima V?ctima as drummer. The second single was also recorded in 1982. A few months later they went to Vigo for a week to try out their repertoire live, in order to see which tracks the audience liked best and choose 12 for the record. The studio sessions were no short of joy and experimentation. Paco Trinidad, the producer, understood what the band wanted and managed to achieve it technically. Despite commercial success evaded them, their first LP was acclaimed by the press, especially by El Pais, one of the biggest-selling newspapers in Spain. Unavailable for years and always in high demand, this is the first time their debut album gets an official reissue in its original single LP format.

DJ DEXTRO NECH030 12"
Nastia's NECHTO presents a new six-track release from DJ Dextro, including one collaboration with Portuguese producer Cardao. The project marks Dextro's first appearance on the label, following years of his tracks being played by Nastia and a shared event in Lisbon in 2023. That connection gradually turned into a conversation about releasing something together. "It was a matter of time until I got to her ear," Dextro says. "And from there, we talked about NECHTO -- and here we are." The tracks on the EP are shaped by a mix of spontaneous ideas and observations on daily life, society, and broader themes like science and the unknown. Dextro explains that the track titles often reflect his current state of mind or something happening around him -- sometimes personal, other times completely random. Each one sits within his established sound: energetic, structured, and focused on rhythm. One of the six tracks features Cardao, with whom Dextro shares what he describes as "a good harmony and easy understanding" in the studio. Known for his groove-led, percussive style, Cardao's contribution adds another layer to the release while fitting seamlessly into its overall tone. Shaped by both artists' individual perspectives, this EP stays close to the club -- direct, driving techno rooted in shared sensibilities and straightforward execution.

FYTER Fyter LP
Private press hard-rock Holy Grail from Arkansas, 1978. Guitar driven hard-rock with some cool psychedelic, Southern rock and melodic AOR touches. Fyter was a hard-rock band from Morrilton, Arkansas, known for their self-released private album from 1978. The band consisted of Kevin Compton (bass), Travis Johnson (lead guitar), Mike Newman (vocals and rhythm guitar), and Duane Harlan (drums). Their music blended powerful hard-rock riffs and solos with psychedelic elements, drawing inspiration from artists like Led Zeppelin, Foghat, Hendrix, Stones, Who. The name "Fyter" was chosen through a creative process involving numerology and wordplay. They performed at various venues, including high school proms, community dances, and clubs. In 1978, Fyter recorded their self-titled album over three days in Oklahoma City. The album featured tracks like "Where I Stand," "Monarch," and "100 Watt Head." The cover art, depicting the band being "arrested" by local police, was a collaborative effort with the North Little Rock Police Department. Only 1,000 copies were pressed, making it a rare collector's item today. First ever reissue. Remastered sound. Original artwork in hard cardboard sleeve. WILDFIRE Smokin' LP
Repressed in hard cardboard sleeve with obi. Powerful and melodic hard-rock by this US power-trio: ultra-loud Quilter amps, killer leads, fuzz bass, furious drumming and vocals. Recorded at the legendary Sonobeat Studios in Austin and originally released in 1971 as a private demo album, now impossible to find. Originally formed in California in the late '60s, Wildfire consisted of Randy Love (guitar/vocals), Danny Jamison (bass/lead vocals), and Donny Martin (drums). Famous for powerful live shows, they packed the clubs with lines around the block of fans waiting to enter, becoming the house band for Finnegan's Rainbow and the favorite group of The Hessians Motorcycle Club, who became the unofficial guardians of the band. Soon, they got in touch with Pat Quilter from Quilter amps. Tired of blowing up amps when playing, Randy told Pat to design an amp that couldn't blow up. And he did it. Following Wildfire's input, Pat designed for the band the famous "Master Volume Dial" amp. In 1969, a Texas promoter heard the band in Southern California and brought them to Austin, becoming an instant hit locally in the Austin area. While in Texas, Wildfire shared the stage with Freddie King, the Allman Brothers, Johnny Winter, and ZZ Top. It was in Austin that the eight-song demo was cut at Sonobeat Records (home also of Mariani and Cold Sun), released in 1970 as a private pressing housed in a plain white cover with a Wildfire sticker, each one numbered. The demo album was never sold other than at a small record store in Southern California and it's now one the rarest hard-rock albums from the US. RIYL: Grand Funk, Bolder Damn, Demian, Cactus, Stack, Banchee, Blue Cheer, Hendrix.

ART ENSEMBLE OF CHICAGO Les Stances a Sophie LP
2025 restock. On May 28, 1969, four American musicians -- reed/wind players Roscoe Mitchell and Joseph Jarman, bassist Malachi Favors, and (accompanied by his wife, singer Fontella Bass) trumpeter Lester Bowie -- boarded the ocean liner S.S. United States, bound for Le Havre, France. After landing five days later, they moved on to Paris, where they got to work. On August 22, 1970, in the waning days of their stay overseas, the group, with Bass on vocals, would record their second release for EMI's Path? Marconi: the movie soundtrack Les Stances ? Sophie. The record, an exciting, eminently listenable combination of soul, classical, and jazz strains that survives as the Art Ensemble of Chicago's most stylistically diverse album, has long been admired by a devoted cult. Its durability is largely due to the popularity of its "hit": Over the years, "Theme de Yoyo" has been covered repeatedly, essayed by acts as varied as German funk band the Boogoos (and the offshoot Deep Jazz, both featuring singer Julia Fehenbeger), British nu-jazz combo the Cinematic Orchestra, Polish jazz man Wojtek Mazolewski, Norwegian rockers Motorpsycho, French dance music artist ?tienne Jaumet, and London-based remixer, Shall I Bruk It. More than half a century later, "Theme de Yoyo" and Les Stances ? Sophie still bring it. Limited-edition LP reissue from play loud! FUCHS, LIMPE Amor LP
When asked about the title of her new record, Amor, Limpe Fuchs bluntly responded, "because it's everything." Being a Beatles fan from the very beginning, she's well aware that "all you need is love," but there's more to her sentiment than a corny pun. On the one hand, she's more than half a century into her musical career, and describes the relationship towards her instruments in terms of an ongoing and deepening love affair. So, it's about time for a love letter to her percussion instruments and the act of drumming and listening to her drums, which can be heard as "Trommeln" on the second to last track on Amor. Listeners also get to learn about "Verliebte Autos im Wald" -- a poem by Augusta Laar that Limpe recites during the closing track. What may come across as a goofy nursery rhyme at first is indeed testament to Limpe's longstanding animistic beliefs, her imagination towards everything around her. "It may sound wonky, but it's as simple as it's true, and it's important to love yourself and everything around you -- at least I try to do so the best I can, and sometimes I fail, sure." And, again, if you think about it, it's not much of a surprise, she's singing about cars, the vehicles that since decades get her and her instruments from gig to gig, all across Europe. But it's not all just about the material world around her, of course. So, on the other hand and for the most part, Amor reflects on love as an interpersonal and spiritual experience. Drawing inspiration from such different authors as Giordano Bruno, Hilde Domin, and Serge Kahili King, Amor is a record of compositions one could almost call "songs," although they're far from being performed in a conventional way. It is also Limpe Fuchs' most openly insightful and vulnerable record to date. As curious as ever, in her light-hearted yet thoughtful manner she explores the upsides and downsides of what it means to be loved or not loved.

There was a seismic shift in the European punk scene when Californian Mike Sobieski and Norah Findlay selected the Basque phenomenon Kike Turmix as their frontman in 1987. Madrid was the place to be, and with the addition of the British bass player Barnaby Bowles and later Spanish Angel Ramos, The Pleasure Fuckers crafted a singular sound, grabbing punk and doing rock while simultaneously grabbing rock and doing punk. In 1988, Simple Needs was the first of a long succession of singles, EPs, LPs, videos, soundtracks, and documentaries, and the band was known from Helsinki to Peru and Prague to Seattle. Kike unfortunately passed in 2005. The Pleasure Fuckers have returned with legendary singer Scott "Deluxe" Drake from Suicide Kings, The Humpers, and Guerrilla Teens. INIT Pool Jams LP
Hot summer rain hits the cracked pavement in uneven rhythms. A neon sign flickers above a caf? that never seems to close, its warm white light reflected in the wet ground like a fever dream. The air smells of summer and the world hums with an easy tone, as if the city itself is holding its breath. A light flooded film noir-ish scene, that needs a soundtrack like Pool Jams, the new album from INIT, the Berlin based duo, that already caused quite a stir with their albums for Hivern Discs and Optimo Music. This time, they bring their latest creations out on R.i.O. -- a label, with whom they are deeply associated. Their fourth long-player is a playful one. One that brings trip hopping feelings. That has RNB grace, without catering regular trademarks of the genre. Dub, trance, drone, is all there too. Yet, nothing is present in pure definition. Rather suggested, interwoven, or newly twisted in a songwriting style, that haunts and seduces. On top the voice of Nadia D'Al? dances, steps and hums tempting to the grooves she created with her partner in crime Benedikt Frey. Together they fashioned a record, that, as INIT puts it, is "some kind of old photo from an old dry empty pool that got faded by sunlight." A dreamy, sunny piece of song art, made for endless smoky LA freeway drives, and other adventures that seek for infinite riddance. You can dream it. You can trance it. You can't escape it, as soon as it rotates in your dream device for sound and vision.

Vladislav Delay presents Hide Behind The Silence EP 1-5, a series of five 10" releases coming throughout 2023. Intuitive and raw music, momentary and reflective, released on Ripatti's own label, Rajaton. "Stillness is a myth. Consider concepts such as "still water", or "still air" for that matter . . . Everything can be explained on a molecular level, but since we're not scientists -- and even if you happen to be -- it's the natural world of perception that moves me. Still air is very similar. A hot summer's day with zero wind feels completely still. It's the closest I have felt to complete stillness. Or for a more urban adaptation, imagine the same vibe inside a normal apartment. In those moments, revelations and mind- blowing experiences can be had with experiments in stillness . . . What if we would need absolute stillness? Or is it just enough that we can perceive something as such? Extremes attract, so for both water and air, extraordinary movement is equally fascinating. That is also a luxury item of sorts. For us to enjoy a very 'loud' body of water or air, we need to be safe, in enough control of the situation. So, when you are, it's worthwhile to pay attention and take it all in. A rapid flowing free with extreme strength and just barely in control. Look at that water go! No still water on this one, only 'sparkling'. A windy day when birds seem surprised how hard it is to fly, but in the end, they make it. Trees bend but don't break. The wind shows you its movement but doesn't hurt you. It feels friendly, like a big clumsy dog that doesn't quite understand its size. It's beautiful to be a guest of the elements, but not at the mercy of them. A new kind of dialogue forms."

HERSCH & STEVE LASPINA & JEFF HIRSHFIELD, FRED ETC LP
"If listeners are to judge by the common, very fine musical sensibility demonstrated in this recording, it was inevitable that the three would meet. And perhaps it was also logical that they constituted a group with equal responsibilities; the music we listen to is in fact interwoven with references, dialogues, passages of ideas, instinctive convergences, confirming a choral and shared intention. It is a pity that the group lived shortly, from 1988 to 1991, when they recorded the other album for Red Records with saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi as a guest. But this certainly also depends on the success that each of the three had on the contemporary jazz scene; so, above all listeners must rejoice that the circumstances allowed at least this album to be born. To quote Jim Hall's admiring commentary on the tracks on this album: 'Great trio, variety in material, light swing, fantastic ballads interpretation, excellent solo developments, splendid dynamic nuances -- and so on.'"

HEDVIG MOLLESTAD TRIO All of Them Witches LP
2025 repress, originally released 2013; LP version. Hedvig Mollestad Thomassen is a guitar heroine for our times. Her molten, overdriven guitar sound is forged in the same fiery furnace as Hendrix, Tony Iommi, and Jimmy Page, then plunged into a steaming vat of free jazz in the Sonny Sharrock/Fred Frith mould. On tracks like "The Rex" and "Lake Acid," you'll hear the megalithic riffology of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" and "Rock 'N' Roll," but with an agility and intensity peculiar to the dark Northern regions where she and her bandmates were raised. Her drummer Ivar Loe Bj?rnstad grew up in a Norwegian hillbilly town where the kids taste moonshine before they've started school. And bassist Ellen Brekken was raised on a farm and is extremely fascinated by trains -- which, given her impeccable timekeeping, seems highly appropriate. All of Them Witches follows the Trio's previous Rune Grammofon release, Shoot! (RCD 2115CD/ RLP 3115LP) and, like label-mates Elephant9 and Grand General, represent a thrilling new progressive wave of Norwegian avant-rock/free-metal energy. This latest batch of electrifying instrumentals was recorded live in the island environment of Ocean Sound studio, a grass-roofed wooden barn on the edge of the Norwegian Sea fitted with state-of-the-art equipment. "Sing, Goddess" takes its name from the opening line of Homer's Iliad. Inspired by the wide-open skies, "Shawshank" and "Ghr? R?nda" are more reflective pieces, bathed in controlled feedback. Witches have historically been victims of persecution, but as Hedvig reminds us, black magicians can also hold the reins of power. Prepare to be spellbound.

HEDVIG MOLLESTAD TRIO Ding Dong. You're Dead. LP
2025 repress; LP version. Only nine months after Hedvig Mollestad momentous debut solo album Ekhidna (RCD 2215CD/RLP 3215LP), the guitarist is back fronting her trio. With their previous album, Smells Funny (RCD 2203CD/RLP 3203LP, 2019), this explosive and expansive trio experienced a breakthrough of sorts, having gone from strength to strength through five albums since their 2011 debut Shoot! (RCD 2115CD/RLP 3115LP, 2011), gathering respect from both rock and jazz camps, sharing big stages with the likes of John McLaughlin and Black Sabbath, and being equally comfortable on jazz and rock stages. Hedvig enforced this breakthrough with Ekhidna, appearing on both jazz and rock best of 2020 lists, like coming in third in Prog's "Album of the Year" poll. With the hypnotic title track, the spacious ballad "Four Candles" and generally a more varied mood, Ding Dong. You're Dead. is the trio's most dynamic album to date. That said there's still enough solid and creative riffing here to satisfy the headbangers, as well as the jazzheads, as they further explore the free and open landscapes most notably started with their Black Stabat Mater album (RCD 2183CD/RLP 3183LP, 2016) and continued with Smells Funny. As Nate Chinen wrote about Black Stabat Mater in JazzTimes: "Her trio, which has Ellen Brekken on bass and Ivar Loe Bj?rnstad on drums, caught my ear then with its audacious style references: the loose swagger of early Black Sabbath; the density and prowl of peak Led Zeppelin; the expeditionary urge of Jimi Hendrix; the incantatory fervor of John McLaughlin." This trio radiates confidence and have become a surefire hit on the Norwegian live scene. And while we rightly praise Hedvig's exceptional abilities, let's not forget how important the rhythm section is to make it all work so well. Ellen Brekken is an accomplished bassist, driving the band just as hard on the electric bass as on the acoustic. Then there's Ivar Loe Bj?rnstad, not your regular rock drummer, not your regular jazz drummer, but in possession of the loose swagger mentioned above.

KRYSTAL KLEAR Pancake 12"
Krystal Klear returns to Running Back with another batch of purpose-built dance floor tracks. The name? Personal. It means something, but that bit stays off the press sheet. Written during a particularly charged stretch of inspiration, these tracks aim to soundtrack every hour of the night: from the hopeful haze of doors open to the bitter-sweet buzz of lights on. Crafted as quiet tributes to nights out and DJ booths in Germany, Scotland, and London, places where sweat meets sub, and the USB never quite ejects. The formula? Unchanged and undefeated: heavy drums, melodic inflections, more ARPs than strictly necessary, and something emo stirred in for good measure. Dance music for dancers. Or at least for the idea of them.

DETTMANN, MARCEL Running Back Mastermix: Marcel Dettmann - Edits & Cuts 3LP
Triple LP version. A DJ, producer and significant figure in contemporary electronic music, Marcel Dettmann steps forward to contribute to Running Back's ongoing Mastermix series. Whereas previous editions of Mastermix have taken an ear to the sound of lapsed, legendary clubs such as Wild Pitch and Front, Dettmann's curation deftly captures the man himself in ongoing perpetual motion, raiding the vault for his own precision-tooled edits, long-employed on dancefloors to devastating effect. The trip begins with a simple pitch-shift skywards, transforming Identified Patient's creeping "The Female Medical College of Pennsylvania" into a peak-time freakout, before an alternate take on Toctronic's "Bis uns das Licht vertreibt" emerges from the vaults for the first time. Dating from 1995, and one of Dettmann's all-time favorites, Cristian Vogel's "Untitled" clambers back into the box with respectable cuts, while John Bender's "Victims of A Victimless Crime" kicks off the flip sporting a new arrangement. A few subtle edits to Clark's perilously funky "Dirty Pixie" leads to Dettmann's remix of Junior Boys. Next comes Experimental Products' explosive proto-electro anthem "Who Is Kip Jones?", empowered from pricey Discogs purgatory with just the slightest of tweaks. It's deservedly sandwiched between the guiding influences of Chicago and Detroit in the form of Mutant Beat Dance's raw "The Human Factor" and a shimmering new version of previous solo production "Water," featuring close friend and Ostgut Ton ally, Ryan Elliot. Severed Heads' iconic "We Have Come To Bless This House" emerges with mere nips and tucks, while Nitzer Ebb's "Shame" is significantly reimagined as a highwire act of rhythm and tension, setting up a sensual second take on a 2017 remix of "Limbo" from Swiss synth heroes, Yello. Core musical memories are shaken and stirred with a context-shifting take on Frank Duval's emotional classic "Ogon," while Ian North's "Sex Lust You" and Ford Proco's notable Coil collaboration "Expansion Naranja" effectively throb with only minor adjustments, respectfully imagined as "shadow versions". Meanwhile, a simple breakbeat lifts Albert Kuningas's "Astraalprojektio" in the direction of wide-eyed dancefloors, while a fresh take on K-Alexi Shelby's "Season of The Real" inexplicably emerges somehow even funkier than before. The conclusion of the compilation leads back to Das Tier from the prolific experimentalist Conrad Schnitzler, whose swirling synths and hypnotic vocals are duly tightened by Dettmann.

ROGINSKI, RAPHAEL Talan LP
"Tal?n is the title of Raphael Rogi?ski's new solo album. Rogi?ski -- Polish guitarist, composer and musicologist, received recognition not only as a member of the Shofar trio where he performs with saxophonist Miko?aj Trzaska and percussionist Macio Moretti but also thanks to his astounding takes on John Coltrane's music released in 2015 Plays John Coltrane And Langston Hughes African Mystic Music. 'Tal?n is a very old (probably Scythian) word that can be translated as 'maybe' and that's where my musical approach comes from -- I take something in order to lose something else,' Rogi?ski explains. 'It's a constant process of achieving goals by getting rid of others and I'm fixated on this idea. It's also a meditation upon a process, a calm observation,' he adds. Tal?n is also a result of Rogi?ski's fascination with the Black Sea. 'All of the tracks are somehow connected to it and some were composed in Odessa -- a city often thought of as a gateway to Asia. This is where my some of my ancestors arrived to Europe,' says Raphael. 'When working on these tunes I came to know the Black Sea both physically and spiritually. What's interesting, it's been once called Inhospitable Sea only to later turn into Hospitable Sea. A myth was tamed and when the mystery disappeared and different civilizations met, a new myth came into life. The album was composed over a couple of years and took many attempts at the recording. My patience is usually very limited so this has been a strange experience for me. But traveling the region of the Black Sea and discovering its nature within myself required time. Our world is full of wonders and awes and traveling (both physically as well as emotionally) remains one of the most important aspects of living,' Rogi?ski admits."

ATELIER KAMIKAZI Loketo LP
As on their first EP Mokili Na Poche on Seismographic Records, Atelier Kamikazi's collaborative lyrics are dedicated to their spectrum of life as street kids. They struggle with the exhausting and dangerous beauty of life in Kinshasa by encouraging themselves and promising never to give up. Neither in the face of lying politics, nor in the face of a religion whose representative they call "Priest Cat's Heart," nor in the face of that great power to which they dedicate several songs, the drug called "Bomb," made from car catalyst deposits mixed with a wild cocktail of ingredients. They warn against using this drug to see "the nakedness of the turtle," because the only thing that could really be seen would be the ridiculousness of those consuming the drug. They counter that they are on a mission to conquer the future with their weapons: the weapons of speech, their knowledge and Loketo, the hip swing of dance.

WEVIE STONDER Sure Beats Living CD
In the weird world of Wevie Stonder, things are never straightforward. The four-piece collective headed up by Al Boorman have returned with their first album in 16 years -- and one reason it took so long is that they couldn't think of a title. The group are renowned for their outlandish electronics and humorous vocal performances, with a series of treasured releases on Manchester's eminent Skam Records, and their latest album Sure Beats Living ventures into unknown realms. Introducing a host of new characters, tall tales and bizarre scenarios to a musical backdrop as varied as it is striking, the record darts between ambient tranquility, strange soundtracks, bass-heavy beats and emotive R&B. Opener "That's Magic" features a magician talking us through a convoluted magic trick, to a mysterious synth theme that a celebrity conjurer might use to help the pyramids disappear. It's probably one of the only pieces of music to draw influences from Paul Daniels. "Carpet Squares" is a hefty slab of squirming machine bass, acid squidges and clanking industrial drums, its samples extolling the virtues of fitting comfortable flooring, with a voiceover recorded on a Canadian golf course. "Vanja & Slavcho" tells the odd story of twins who have an extraordinary ability to a bustle of spiraling arpeggios and comedic sound effects, while "Tiktaalik" has a glam rock beat, guitar twangs, wild synth runs and dance music drum rolls that build to nowhere, plus processed dolphin noises and a vocal about evolution. Then there's "Piccolo's Travels," a spellbinding mix of classical strings and -- is that a malfunctioning Clanger? "Album Titles" lists rejected names for the record to hilarious effect, with outlandish blips, accordion riffs and bubbling percussion setting the scene, "The 38th Parallel" is a wonky slab of electronica, while "Push It" has everything from rock guitar interjections to explosions and birdsong. If "Customer Services" imagines the bewildering experience of dealing with a sentient automated phone call, then the following "Nothing To Write Home About" is a waltz-time organ piece with a nostalgic, bittersweet air. "Ready?" lists practically every genre under the sun and gives you a burst of it, from drill to country and western, hardcore to Miami bass, and the final track, "The Void," is an AutoTune-laced R&B track with a deep, emotional core.

MOGARD, ABUL Quiet Pieces LP
Restocked. Quiet Pieces initiates Abul Mogard's personal imprint Soft Echoes with a definitive self-portrait of calm, contemplative, and discreet inner landscapes made audible. It is the first solo album on vinyl in four years. While sifting through archived material left idle from earlier projects, a chance encounter with a late uncle's trove of beloved 78rpm classical and opera records prompted the reworking and completion of what would eventually become the album. Spinning dusty records at 33 and 45rpm, Abul Mogard recombined their enduring specters with unfinished sketches from his archive. The resulting soundscape blurs distinctions between his memories and those of another, exquisitely short-circuiting the senses with its waking, dream-like lucidity. The resulting pieces hover over a threshold, a liminal space that harmonizes the old and older material. Voluminous waves of quiet and loud undulate between consonance and dissonance, conjuring imagery of a decaying grandeur that humanity's decadence has surrendered to the elements. Abul Mogard's seemingly abandoned yet vast landscapes are nevertheless intimate with timbral frissons of red-lined distortion. Elusive, yet as tangible as sea spray or smog, they affect the olfactory senses with a rarified, synesthetic quality that modestly engages one's emotional register -- a hypnotic, distinguishing feature long hailed as one of the hallmarks of his work. Looking back, Mogard notes an unexpected influence: "I realize being inspired by Phill Niblock, whose work I had barely known at the time but explored after his passing in 2024. His album Boston Tenor Index changed the way I approached dissonance. It encouraged me to push my sound further, to the edge of a space where I began to feel uncomfortable." The album artwork, created by longtime collaborator Marja de Sanctis, features a photograph taken at the Temple of Jupiter Anxur, an archaeological site overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Captured with an iPhone, the image traces the residual presence of construction techniques and architectural forms of the Romans, where material history is transcribed through contemporary tools. The convergence of ancient and modern technology aims to reverberate the site's lasting spiritual presence -- an echo persisting in what is now perceived as a quiet, emptied space. The spiral gestures towards infinity and light. Past and present dissolve into one another, reflecting Quiet Pieces meditation on sound, memory, and time. AGNES STRANGE Strange Flavour LP
Guitar-driven psychedelic hard-rock, heavy blues and proto-metal by this power-trio from Southampton. This is their sought-after album from 1975. Agnes Strange was a bluesy hard-rock trio active during the mid-1970s. The band consisted of John Westwood on guitar and vocals, Alan Green on bass and vocals, and Dave Rodwell on drums/vocals. In 1975, they released their sole album, Strange Flavour, on the small BirdsNest label, linked to a chain of pubs/brewing firm. The album showcased their blend of hard-rock, blues and experimental/psychedelic influences, drawing comparisons to bands like Status Quo, Budgie, and Hawkwind. Despite their energetic style and musical talent, the album did not achieve significant commercial success. It's clear that some other labels like Vertigo or Harvest would have been a better home for them. RIYL: Budgie, Taste, Hendrix, Status Quo, Sabbath, Stooges. BOLTON IRON MAIDEN, THE Maiden Flight LP
Active between 1970 and 1976, the Bolton Iron Maiden (originally known as Birth and then Iron Maiden) was a psychedelic hard-rock band formed in Bolton by Ian Boulton-Smith (Beak) on lead guitar, Derek George Austin on bass and Paul TJ O'Neill on drums/vocals. Influenced by contemporaries like Led Zeppelin, Cream, Free, Groundhogs, or Andromeda, their music blended blues, hard rock, and progressive elements. They soon built a strong reputation supporting acts such as UFO, Bedlam (with Cozy Powell), Caravan, Thin Lizzy, and more. In 1976, the band disbanded following the death of guitarist Ian Boulton-Smith from cancer. In 2005, Paul O'Neill revived interest in BIM by releasing two albums, Maiden Flight and Boulton Rides Again, which compiled studio and live recordings. The proceeds from these albums were donated to Cancer Research and Macmillan Cancer Support. With the blessing of the more famous Iron Maiden and their manager Rod Smallwood, the band adopted the name "The Bolton Iron Maiden" to avoid confusion. For the first time on vinyl, Maiden Flight collects their previously unreleased studio recordings from 1972 plus raw as f*ck live tracks circa 1975. Includes insert with detailed liner notes and rare photos/memorabilia along with download card with extra (live) bonus track.

WANTS, THE Bastard LP
LP version. Second album by electro/post-punk trio from New York. Too raw to be pure electronic music, too mechanized to be straight rock -- a sound inspired by Public Image Limited and The Smiths as well as Bauhaus, Throbbing Gristle, Smashing Pumpkins, and Massive Attack. An adversarial network of ideas, electronic post-punk trio The Wants welcome the possibility that embracing friction can give rise to something cathartic and unexpected. Formed by Madison Velding-VanDam and Jason Gates in 2017, and with the addition of Yasmeen Night in 2021, The Wants' sound is defined by the push and pull of its members' processes: floating rhythms upheaving grounded songwriting, pulsing synths overwhelming live instrumentation. Their new record, Bastard, is an evolution of many of the seeds planted in their debut record, Container (2020), with a refined sense of acerbic emotional urgency and sonic experimentation. Drawing from a deep well of influences across decades and genres, The Wants forge an unlikely alliance of sounds that feels both radical and inevitable. Velding-VanDam channels both the raw power and snark of Public Image Ltd. and The Smiths' romance, while Gates draws intensity from bands like Bauhaus and Throbbing Gristle, and inspiration from experimental techno. Night's sound bridges inspiration from '90s alternative rock like Smashing Pumpkins and Garbage between the nocturnal trip-hop atmosphere of Massive Attack. The result sits in its own category, drawing favorable comparisons to early PIL and contemporaries like Model/Actriz while remaining distinctly their own beast.

VA Als die Welt noch unterging: German Post Punk Underground 1979-1984 LP
2025 restock; LP version. Als die Welt noch unterging ("When the world was still ending") is a chronicle of the emergence and development of punk and new wave in German-speaking countries from 1979 - 1984. The apocalyptic sentiment around 1980 gave punk and new wave the necessary push. It led to an incredible outburst of activity and creativity. Against the backdrop of the nuclear armament, nobody believed that this world would have a great future anymore -- so suddenly everything was allowed, regardless of the consequences. This is the subject of a book by German author Frank Apunkt Schneider, in which he unfolds the history of the New German Wave and the German punk underground right through to the regional, cassette and fanzine scenes. To mark the 20th-anniversary of this book, a compilation curated by the author brings this period back to life. Featuring Autofick, Carambolage, Siluetes 61, Hans-A-Plast, Kosmonautentraum, Holger Hiller, Die Zwei, Family 5 Tagein, Rassemenschen helfen armen Menschen, Lustige Mutanten, Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle, Neues Deutschland, Die Egozentrischen 2, Male, B?rchen und die Milchbubis, Die Zimmerm?nner, The Wirtschaftswunder, Palais Schaumburg, Cretins, and Konstantin.

ASTOR, PETE Unsent Letters: Home Recordings 1984-2024 CD
Unsent Letters is the weird cousin to songs on half a lifetime of albums. It has been living in the basement, in a box and is now emerging, blinking into the daylight. Even though it's a bit rough around the edges, it turns out to be a rather charming and likeable fellow for all that. And with stories to tell. Pete Astor is a musician, writer and educator. He led Creation Records' groups The Loft and The Weather Prophets, writing songs and releasing records that helped define the sound of the label and the emerging Indie genre. He has gone on to a lengthy solo career since then; writing, recording and releasing music on a range of labels including Matador, Heavenly, Warp, EMI and Fortuna Pop. He is Senior Lecturer in Music at the University of Westminster. As well as touring extensively, he also makes records with David Sheppard as Ellis Island Sound and releases his spoken word electronic pop project as The Attendant with Ian Button (Go Kart Mozart, Death in Vegas) on his label Faux Lux. Since 2017, Astor has been signed to the estimable Tapete Records, home to Robert Forster, Lloyd Cole, and Comet Gain among many excellent others. Unsent Letters features songs that Astor wrote while in The Loft but which the group never played, along with songs from throughout his forty-year career that are now, finally coming out into the world.

FEX Subways Of Your Mind (TMMS Version) (Splatter Vinyl) 7"
Limited splatter vinyl edition of "The Most Mysterious Song On The Internet." Imagine having a song go viral for 17 years -- without even knowing it. That's exactly what happened to the German 1980s band FEX. And this isn't just any song -- it's "The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet," a track that puzzled music detectives for decades before finally being identified in November 2024. Now, it has been officially released -- twice. The Story in Brief: Sometime around 1984, a song was broadcasted on NDR Radio. The name of the song was "Subways Of Your Mind" -- only found out 40 years later in November 2024. Back then, a listener recorded the NDR show on cassette, a common practice at the time. Decades later, the tape resurfaced, but while most songs from the recording were identified, one remained an enigma. On March 18, 2007, the track was uploaded to the internet in an attempt to uncover its origins. Due to its now-iconic opening lyric, it was tentatively titled "Like The Wind." Over time, the mystery deepened, and the song was given a nickname: "The Most Mysterious Song" -- or simply "TMMS." Then, in 2024, the breakthrough: Reddit user marjin1412 reached out to musician Michael H?drich after discovering a reference to his band FEX in an old newspaper article. H?drich, FEX's keyboardist, provided a recording from an old demo cassette which included an alternative version of the song. On November 4, 2024, the mystery was officially solved: FEX was the band, "Subways Of Your Mind" was the title. A higher-quality version of the NDR radio recording was rediscovered in late December, 2024, remastered, and now sent for a second vinyl pressing: the "TMMS Version." This new vinyl 7" is backed with "Talking Hands," another great and unissued song that was found on the demo cassette.

TONGO, JO Sa Discossa LP
A pioneering force in African music, Jo Tongo has always been on top of the game. Since the late '60s he has been recording music under his early Jojo L'Explosif moniker. His debut album Jo Tongo was released 1976 on Fiesta/Decca and features classic tracks like "Jangolo" and "Piani." Now, after decades of underground influence and global recognition, his second album Sa Discossa (1980) is re-released for the first time. An electrifying fusion of African rhythms, disco, makossa, reggae and funk, it reflects his lifelong journey of musical exploration and cultural storytelling and claims its place as an essential recording in the Afro-disco movement. Jo Tongo's music is inseparable from his life's story -- a journey that spans continents, struggles, and victories. From his early years as a leading African musician before the global rise of Afrobeat, to his deep roots in classical training, and his time performing in France and Germany, his sound is shaped by a rich blend of influences. Having played in bands across Europe, from American military bases in Germany to the jazz and soul circuits of Paris, he absorbed the pulse of multiple musical worlds, creating a sound uniquely his own. His work reflects his strong political stance against colonialism, social injustice, and oppression. Throughout his career, Tongo has used his platform to advocate for African identity and independence. His songs, layered with messages of social consciousness, have continued to resonate with younger generations who recognize the relevance of his words even today. Sa Discossa is more than just a disco record. It embodies Jo Tongo's philosophy of resistance, identity, and celebration. The title itself is a blend of "disco" and "makossa," reflecting the seamless fusion of African groove and the dancefloor energy that defined the era. Tracks like "Bunya," sung in his native language, carry messages of love, gratitude, and resilience -- sentiments that remain as relevant today as they were nearly 50 years ago. Despite taking a step back from the stage in recent years, he remains open to new possibilities. "Music is like a fire -- it never truly dies. I have a lot to say, and music is the best way to say it," he says. For Jo Tongo, music is more than entertainment -- it's a language of truth, a testament to history, and a bridge between cultures. With Sa Discossa returning under the African Edge series on The Outer Edge label, Jo Tongo's legacy continues to resonate, proving that real music never fades.

MANSLAUGHTER 777 God's World LP
"Manslaughter 777 are powerhouses of forward-thinking rhythmic music and production. The duo, composed of drummers/programmers Lee Buford (The Body, Sightless Pit, Dead Times, Everyone Asked About You) and Zac Jones (MSC, Nothing, Braveyoung), combine their prowess as percussionists and producers into beat-centric music that delights in turning unexpected sounds into razor sharp rhythms. Buford and Jones, along with engineer/producer Seth Manchester of Machines with Magnets (The Body, Model Actriz, Liturgy), have collaborated for nearly two decades, consistently shattering genre boundaries and redefining the role of the studio in the process. God's World uses innovative sound sampling to create expansive sonics driven by complex rhythms. The resulting album's infectious grooves are both celebratory and irreverent. The duo deftly interweave their own playing into field recordings and synthesized drums. The taut pieces blur the boundaries between acoustic and electronic instruments, samples and performances. 'It's kind of strange to be making music like this using acoustic sounds,' Jones continues, 'but I think that adds a special element to it, sampling our own playing and being very meticulous about the sounds we get out of those.' 'Power in the Blood' turns a ping-ponging hip hop beat into a throbbing House thump. 'Silk Barricade's' dub-gone-jungle drop is met with an industrial breakdown where 'Pulling A Truck Up A Hill''s Afro-Latin groove leaves more room to breathe. Overblown 808s and steady tambourine speckle the slow-mo 'Child Of (featuring MSC)' and a sine-wave bass lilts across the live kit on 'Luv.' On God's World, kaleidoscopic revelations reveal a rhythmic approach unbound by expectations. Buford and Jones are willing to completely shift gears within one short piece or to allow individual percussive elements to subtly transform the landscape of the beat. Manslaughter 777 have their own unique cadence, built on a deep affection for beat music, but untethered by any adherence to one specific style or set of rules. The duo imbue their music with a sinewy pulse and sense of dynamic care that lends a humanity to their unyielding arrangements. God's World is an album whose electrifying turns and gripping compounds, in pursuit of lush, incendiary grooves, is a thrilling and joyous expressive delight.""True electronic body music -- the detail and precision of the beats here is key, a real care and attention to the strafed snares and rippling breakbeaks that reward headphone immersion." --The Wire"drum sounds are gloriously blown out, scorched, fried to bits, but you can tell: they're blown out, scorched, and fried to bits with love. BODY, THE All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To Blood 2LP
"Originally released in 2010, The Body's All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To Blood is a watershed album that changed the landscape of heavy music. Buoyed by the eclectic cast of musicians, from the undeniably potent collaboration with The Assembly of Light Choir as led by now longtime The Body collaborator Chrissy Wolpert, to guest contributors that include members of Dead Times, Fang Island, Lichens (aka Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe), Human Beast, and many more. The album's singularly bleak, yet beautiful atmosphere not only set the tone for The Body's career in breaking the mold, but set a new standard for what extreme music could do. All The Waters rightfully broke The Body, the duo of Lee Buford and Chip King, out from the underground and was met with acclaim from across a wide spectrum. Pitchfork's Grayson Haver Currin said of the record: 'The rare album that feels truly dangerous. As it crushes and collides doom metal, harsh noise, industrial rock, and gospel singing into one mean mess, it seems to obey no rules but its own. The result is a singular, explosive masterpiece.' NPR's Lars Gotrich put it in his 2010 Top 10 list, calling it 'the most surreal doom-metal record of 2010' and The Quietus called it the year's 'best record on the fringes of metal.' Following the album's release and subsequent tours, which sometimes included the entire Assembly of Light Choir, The Body established themselves as a permanent fixture of forward-thinking artists and a reliably overwhelming force, both on record and in live settings. All The Waters also helped spark the duo's penchant for collaboration, which they then solidified across dozens of releases, from collaborations with Braveyoung to BIG|BRAVE, Thou, Full of Hell, Uniform, and beyond. The new reissue for All The Waters is packaged as a double LP, including a whole new Side D, which is composed of bonus material never before pressed to vinyl. First edition pressings of the double vinyl reissue will be a deluxe poster edition.""As the record continues, the beating just doesn't stop. The choral voices, returning here and there, are the only ray of hope: the Body's own singing amounts to weedy, apocalyptic howls, barely clearing the din of their processional stomps. It's an experience, this record, written in big riffs and celestial choirs and digital static." --The New York Times

CHEO Y LOS CONSENTIDOS DE LA CASA Live At Nublu, NYC LP
Cheo y Los Consentidos de la Casa is a dynamic, funk-infused Latin music project led by Cheo Pardo (of Los Amigos Invisibles). Serving as the house band for a bi-weekly dance night at NYC's Nublu, the group blends salsa, boogaloo, cha-cha-cha, and bolero with psychedelic effects and deep grooves. Their debut live album captures this high-energy fusion, reimagining Latin classics with a modern, electrifying twist that honors tradition while pushing boundaries. This isn't your abuela's salsa night -- this is Cheo Y Los Consentidos De La Casa. Funk-forward. Rhythm-obsessed. 100% dance floor approved. Born from a love of vintage Latin soul and the raw energy of NYC's dance floors, Cheo assembled an all-star crew of the city's hottest Latin players all filtered through wah-wah pedals, space echoes, fuzzy guitar solos, and a deep, unshakable groove. The result? A psychedelic, percussive party that's equal parts tradition and funked-out future. Recorded live at Nublu this album captures the heat, sweat, and sabor of their wildest nights -- reimagining classics from Joe Cuba, Willie Col?n, Eddie Palmieri, Mon Rivera, and more. Each track is a tribute and a reinvention, breathing new life into the old- school with a cosmic twist, and opening the doors for a whole new generation to feel that sabrosura in their bones. Featuring Felipe Fournier, Chico Raro, and Jos? Benjam?n.

BLACK SITES R4 2LP
A long-dormant signal reactivates from Hamburg's hidden places: Helena Hauff and F#X return as Black Sites with R4 on Tresor Records -- their first full-length album and the first release under the moniker since 2014. Like a hieroglyphic recently discovered and translated, R4 feels more like a long-awaited resumption than a comeback. Recorded to tape with minimal editing or post-production the record is a classic example of the symbiotic relationship that can come from the interaction of human and machine. This punk ethos isn't invoked through distortion alone, but through method; in the album's breaking from the received wisdom of hardness tethered to speed as most of the tougher pieces are lower BPM and vice versa (with one notable exception in the mind-melting stomp of "BLOKK"). Across ten tracks, Black Sites traverse a landscape where genre dissolves into intention. It migrates through electro's danceability, acid house's corrosion, and into the liminal realm of machine funk -- a genre coined by Andrew Weatherall, which sounds like the results of technology dreaming of soul where the emphasis is on live execution, on immediacy over perfection -- a sound forged in the act of creating, not polishing. In a 2013 interview, around the time of the first Black Sites EP, Hauff was quoted as saying that she wants "things to fit together properly, but on another level, I really want them to make sense together." That principle animates R4: The album's form reveals itself in time, with each movement echoing and amplifying the others to create a synergistic whole. From the opening crawl of "C4" (a name that like the music foreshadows the explosions to come) to the end-of-the-night bliss of "MOTHERJAM" via the intense peaks of "BLOKK, 707," and classic acid track "3D," it's clear that R4 is a work made with serious intent; a refutation of a world where streaming has made the two-minute single the dominant musical form again. R4 demands immersion, not just attention. It is not a collection of tracks, but a singular, recursive experience: a mirror in which sound and listener repeatedly rediscover one another.

WHILE MY SEQUENCER GENTLY BLEEPS Last Night A Bassline Saved My Life 12"
With this new EP called Last Night A Bassline Saved My Life, again released on Unsure, Stefan Schwander further refines the philosophy and sound of his latest concept While My Sequencer Gently Bleeps. Following his idea of reduction Schwander used only the Elektron Monomachine to shape four amazing tracks, beautifully balanced, searching for the perfect groove, stripped of all unnecessary. "Compromise," the first track, may even be a reminiscence to Schwanders legendary releases as Antonelli Electr, super transparent and super crisp, yet still warm, deep and human, an understated wonder of a track! "Persona" and the title track got those dubby chords and effective synths, an inimitable tightness and basslines that can save your life indeed. And on "Escalator" Schwander comes up with extraordinary rolling and twisting rhythms and some sonic essentials that only the master of the sequencer can deliver. Distinguished.

WGANDA KENYA/KAMMPALA GRUPO Wganda Kenya/Kammpala Grupo LP
2025 repress. First time reissue. By the time Discos Fuentes released the album Wganda Kenya Kammpala Grupo in 1977, Wganda Kenya's discography was expanding with many 45 singles and appearances in various artists collections. The group's 1975 debut record ?frica 5.000 was a full-length LP in the US and a various artists compilation in Colombia, which was followed by the self-titled long player the following year. However, Kammpala Grupo, which shared the album's title and was credited to three songs on the record, had never appeared before, yet was basically the same studio group as Wganda Kenya. The record kicks off with the joyful "El Gallo Africano" which features exquisite interplay between Sep?lveda's highlife style guitar and an authentic-sounding African style saxophone, perhaps played by Carlos Pi?a. In reality it was "Go Call Police Chief" by prolific Nigerian highlife guitarist Chief Oliver Sunday Akanite, aka Oliver De Coque. Next up is Kammpala Grupo's 'La Yuca Ray?' ('Grated Yuca'), written by Isaac Villanueva in a style he termed son haitiano which sounds much more like Zimbabwe Shona mbira music. Wganda Kenya's 'Caimito' (star apple, a type of tropical fruit), on the other hand, is actually a cover of a relatively well-known Haitian merengue song. Kammpala Grupo then takes us from the French Antilles to the multi-cultural discotheques of Paris, where a cover version of Black Soul's Afro-boogie anthem "Black Soul Music" is retooled and renamed "King Kong", perhaps in a nod to the 1976 remake of the monster flick of the same name. Side two introduces you to the infectious merengue rebita of Angola via "La riphyta" with "Papar?", aka Mariano Sep?lveda, doing the vocals and faithfully replicating the Angolan guitar style. "La Trompeta Loca" (The Crazy Trumpet), probably the nuttiest track on the album, is an ingenious cover of "Ye Gbawa Oo Baba (Tribute To Nigeria)" by Joe Mensah of Ghana. As with all their covers of African tunes, this rendition tightens up the original with some pop sheen. This is followed by one of the most powerfully original songs to come out of the entire Wganda Kenya project, Mike Char's reggae anthem "El Nativo" with Joe Arroyo on vocals. The record ends on a more authentically Caribbean sounding note with the instrumental "El testament", a cheerful islands banger with bright brass, syncopated calypso beats and chunky cuatro guitar (or ukulele). With all this wild and funky sounding Afro-based music in its grooves, Wganda Kenya Kammpala Grupo was ahead of its time. 180 gram vinyl.

VA Cumbia Cumbia Cumbia!!! Vol.2 2LP
2025 repress. A selection of 28 Colombian cumbia bangers for the dance floor from the deep vaults of Codiscos and associated labels Coste?o, Zeida and Famoso, all of them originally released between 1962 and 1983. Cumbia Cumbia Cumbia!!! combines well-known classics and rarities that are difficult to find in their original formats. An invitation to enjoy and be amazed, above and beyond ethnographic and academic concerns. The historical origins of cumbia in Colombia are nebulous and imprecise. The mythology surrounding it suggests an ancient past when Amerindian, African and European musical sounds were mixed together. The main record companies in Colombia such as Discos Fuentes, Discos Tropical, Sonolux, Zeida-Codiscos, Silver, Ondina, Discos Atlantic, Vergara and Curro were created between Barranquilla, Medell?n, Cartagena and Bogot? from 1936 to 1954. All of them, without exception, recorded Colombian tropical music that over the years was given different names such as porro, gaita, fandango, paseaito, merecumb?, mapal?, bullerengue or, of course, cumbia. After digging deep into the overwhelming archive of Discos Fuentes in the previous volume, this second instalment in the series Cumbia Cumbia Cumbia!!! comprises 28 Colombian cumbia bangers for the dance floor from the deep vaults of Codiscos and associated labels Coste?o, Zeida and Famoso, all of them originally released between 1962 and 1983. Legally established on July 1, 1950, Zeida (later Codiscos) was one of the companies that consolidated Medell?n as the epicenter of the Colombian recording industry in the central decade of the last century. Cumbia Cumbia Cumbia!!! combines well-known classics and rarities that are difficult to find in their original formats. An invitation to enjoy and be amazed, above and beyond ethnographic and academic concerns. Featuring Los Hermanos Martelo, Los Trotamundos, Antonio Le?n Y Su Conjunto, Antol?n Y Su Combo Orense, Francisco Zapata, Crescencio Salcedo, Sonidos De Gamero, Los Teen Agers, Miguel Villalba Y Su Conjunto, Calixto Ochoa, Alfredo Guti?rrez Y Los Caporales Del Magdalena, El Michi Y Su Combo Bravo, Los Graduados, Gabriel Mesa, Adolfo Pacheco Y Su Conjunto, El Conjunto Miramar, El Combo Cienaguero, La Sonora Universitaria, Orquesta De Marcial Marchena, Rita Fern?ndez, Jaime Llano Gonz?lez, Los Arko, Aniceto Molina Y Su Conjunto, Los Bobby Soxers, Catalino Y Su Combo Negro, La Cumbia Moderna De Soledad, Alejandro Bernal, and Grupo La Droga.

HUDSON & THE SOUL SYNDICATE, KEITH Nuh Skin Up Dub LP
Restocked. Keith Hudson's Nuh Skin Up Dub is a deep, heavyweight dub album that stands as one of the most potent statements in the genre's history. Released in 1979, this sonic masterpiece showcases Hudson's signature dark, almost mystical production style, where heavy basslines, echo-drenched drums, and ghostly fragments of vocals swirl together in a hypnotic haze. Unlike the more polished, accessible dub records of the time, Nuh Skin Up Dub is raw, unfiltered, and experimental, pushing the boundaries of rhythm and space. Tracks like "Nuh Skin Up" and "Felt We Felt the Strain" pulse with an eerie, almost menacing energy, while Hudson's masterful use of reverb and delay creates a soundscape that feels simultaneously expansive and claustrophobic. Often referred to as the "Dark Prince of Reggae," Hudson had an uncanny ability to craft music that was both deeply meditative and unsettling, and Nuh Skin Up Dub is a prime example of his genius. It's a record that rewards deep listening -- every spin reveals new layers of sonic detail, hidden textures, and dub wizardry. For fans of heavy, atmospheric dub, Nuh Skin Up Dub is an essential listen, a landmark recording that solidifies Keith Hudson's status as one of the most visionary figures in reggae history.

KYNARD, CHARLES Woga LP
Wewantsounds reissues Charles Kynard's 1972 cult classic Woga, recorded in Los Angeles for Mainstream Records and featuring top-tier musicians Chuck Rainey, Paul Humphrey, Arthur Adams, and George Bohanon. Produced by Bob Shad, the album stands as one of the label's funkiest releases, showcasing Kynard's signature Hammond organ grooves. Woga is reissued here on vinyl for the first time since its original release, complete with its original gatefold artwork using first-generation session photos. This edition comes with newly remastered audio plus a two-page insert featuring new liner notes by Kevin Le Gendre. Charles Kynard, born in St. Louis in 1933, passed away relatively young at the age of 46 in 1979. Despite a short career, he left a lasting impression on the international jazz-funk scene with a string of soul-jazz classics, culminating with Woga. Kynard began his professional career in St. Louis before relocating to Los Angeles in the early '60s, where he started recording for the Pacific Jazz label. There, he worked with renowned musicians such as Howard Roberts, Sonny Stitt, and Buddy Collette, releasing his debut album for the label in 1963. In 1971, Kynard joined Bob Shad's Mainstream Records and recorded three highly sought-after albums for the label, including Woga. Woga includes dynamic covers of contemporary soul hits such as Donny Hathaway's "Little Ghetto Boy," Aretha Franklin's "Rock Steady," and the Staple Singers' "Name the Missing Word," alongside deep-cut originals like the fiery "Hot Sauce," the laid-back "Lime Twig," and the explosive nine-minute jam "Slop Jar," featuring standout solos by trombonist George Bohanon, guitarist Arthur Adams, and trumpeter Jerome Rusch. This reissue also includes the bonus track "Smiling Faces Sometimes", a rendition of the Motown psychedelic soul hit by The Undisputed Truth. Recorded during the original Woga sessions, the track briefly surfaced on a low-profile compilation two years later. It features none other than the legendary Carol Kaye on bass.

KHODJA, FREH Ken Andi Habib LP
Wewantsounds continues its Algerian music reissue program with the release of Freh Khodja's sought-after 1975 LP, Ken Andi Habib. Recorded in Paris with Les Flammes, a group of immigrant musicians, the album is now reissued for the first time. Selected by Paris-based DJ Cheb Gero, who recently compiled the Sweet Rebels Rai set and curated the Abranis LP release for Wewantsounds, Ken Andi Habib is a masterful blend of Arabic music, jazz, Carribean/Latin grooves and funk. Featuring original artwork, audio remastered by Colorsound Studio, and a two-page insert with new liner notes (French/English) by Algerian journalist Rabah Mezouane. Originally released in 1975, Ken Andi Habib is an important document of North African music recorded during the 1970s. Born in 1949 in Sidi Bel Abb?s, Algeria, Khodja developed an early passion for music, studying saxophone and theory before moving to Paris in 1968 to continue his training at the ?cole Normale de Musique. Alongside his musical education, he experienced the difficult reality of immigrant life in France. In Paris, Khodja became a member of Les Flammes, a group composed largely of musicians from the African diaspora, particularly Cape Verde. With Les Flammes providing the musical backing and the vocal group El Salem handling background vocals, Khodja recorded Ken Andi Habib in 1975, in a Parisian studio. The album blends North African melodies with jazz, funk, and Caribbean influences, reflecting the diverse musical environment of the city at the time. Released by the Algerian label La Voix Du Globe, Ken Andi Habib was distributed mainly within North African immigrant communities in France and Algeria. While it received limited attention at the time of its release, it later became highly regarded among collectors and DJs interested in rare Arabic grooves and North African recordings. The album stands out for its synthesis of Arabic music with contemporary styles without losing its distinct identity. Rabah Mezouane places Khodja's work within the wider context of musical innovation by North African artists in France during the 1970s.
