WATER DAMAGE Instruments 2LP
2026 repress. "Water Damage is ten people from one town and one sound from twelve people. For Instruments, the plus two are guitarist David Grubbs and saxophonist Patrick Shiroishi, neither of whom blunt the angle or confound the aim. The tempo? Slow and low. Four tracks, averaging twenty minutes each, the pace never above a comfortable walk. The damage creeps, a forest becomes a mountain, and the faithful move forward. The album is named after Fugazi, in a manner, and 'Reel 25' takes after the Shocklee Brothers, in a cry. Stop asking the lord how many drummers this band has and ask him how much of your mind, babe. Some people say drone and same people say trance and some people say invocation through patterned unity. Some people just say rock and we let them set their clocks back. Lie down and let these holy treads flatten you. Just because Water Damage know what they are doing doesn't mean you have to. Fix your hearts or die!" -- Sasha Frere-Jones

HOBKNOBS, THE Helmets Off LP
"Helmets Off can be described as an honest attempt at honesty. Although all options are open at the moment of conception, the end result often remains bare. Instruments come in when they are needed, but the songs apparently don't need that much at all. Every word and every strum sounds like it's placed in exactly the right moment. Perhaps it is this bareness of the songs, that makes it feel as if The Hobknobs are speaking to the listener directly. It is clear that they don't want anything to cloud this human interaction. Yaël Dekker, whom you may also know as the singer of The Klittens, and Arie van Vliet, who used to spread his word through the band Lewsberg, were once described as loving misanthropes. Listening to Helmets Off, this description seems rather accurate. A consoling song like 'The Mind' sounds haunting. Even words seem to have lost their meaning in 'Dictionary.' Songs that seem cheerful and naive at first appear to be pleadings on second listen. And is 'Enarmoured' a pro-war protest song? What war do they want to fight? Dekker and Van Vliet's voices seem to know each other well, in a way that magnifies the songs on Helmets Off beyond their deceptive simplicity. Together with the minimal production by Jaap van der Velde, it makes that the album hits the sweet spot somewhere in the middle of 'instantly familiar' and 'no one else sounds quite like this.'"

WOODKIN/MOLLONO.BASS/MAZ'N WOODKIN CD
When Mollono.Bass and MAZ'N exchange their first ideas for a collaborative project, they talk a lot about playing live. That's why this approach is coded very deep into the DNA of WOODKIN. It's hard not to notice when you watch their creative dialogue unfolding on stage, clearly reminiscent of the real-time dynamics of a concert. It's also very noticeable when listening: Built on songwriting skills and carried by dancefloor expertise, the tracks have a pronounced vibe of something that is alive. The most consistent thing about the sound of Mollono.Bass is that it takes new directions all the time. MAZ'N on the other hand has given expression to his musical passion as singer and piano player in a variety of bands and roles. In consequence, it's impossible to pin down WOODKIN to a particular genre. The organic warmth of house and the melodic momentum of techno are important factors, and so is the open-minded attitude of indie dance -- and last but not least there is the emotional catchiness of the voice, which reflects some sort of modern, electronic take on pop. The self-titled album channels this flood of feelings and movements into a captivating experience that is equally beautiful and compelling on your home sound system, on your headphones on the subway, in the twilight of a club or amidst the rays of dusty sunlight on a buzzing open air dancefloor.

MILLS, JEFF The Trip To Vega 3LP
"The Trip To Vega is about deep outer space odyssey that occurs in the process of traveling from Earth through the Cosmos to another "favorable" star system 25.3 light-years away. The time is year 2097, Sept 23rd. To this day, Earthlings have managed to dodge some of nature's more dangerous extremities, massive volcanic eruptions, Earthquakes, solar burst that knocked out the Planet's entire electrical grid for three years, numerous plagues of disease, food and fresh water shortages, domestic and International Wars and many other life-changing operas, but for this event, what remains is a realization that has no remedy. The cause: Earth's physicality has changed. It is no longer favorable for living things. It is the constant shifting of the planet's internal tectonic plates which has unfortunately produced an unexpected and impassable dilemma. Because of the collisions, deep within the planet's core, the planet is now producing an extraordinary amount of sound that includes a specific harmonic frequency that erodes the natural senses of all life on Earth. It is intensifying. It is intolerable and it is unlivable. Yet, some humans prefer to stay, to "ride it out" like the Titanic captain going down with his ship. Some, in total disbelief as some have concluded it is the second coming of Jesus Christ. But for most, the decision is clear. To live another day, leaving is the only rational choice. At an increasing rate, scientific research data shows that humans and most animals, excluding the Jellyfish will eventually lose the usage of hearing and are to greatly suffer from an array of other neurological and psychological effects. The sense of touch and taste, sleep depreciation, severe nerve damage, constant hallucinations. Everyone will lose many of their cognitive abilities within an estimated 12 months from now. On this day and every seven days afterwards until all registered passengers have departed, the first of a fleet of large number of massive size spacecraft carrying approximately 1 million humans per vessel will permanently leave Earth to begin the long and adventurous trek across outer space to a new home: Vega. This is not a precautionary tale as there is nothing to learn. Instead, a decision has been made and A Trip To Vega is the consequence. " - Jeff Mills

HYDROMATICS, THE Powerglide LP
In the early 2000s, The Hydromatics brought together three scenes, three cities, and one shared devotion to rock'n'roll: the fiery tradition of Detroit, the raw punch of Amsterdam, and the high-energy attitude of Scandinavia. Fronted by none other than Scott Morgan (Sonic´s Rendezvous Band), one of the great voices of Detroit rock, and backed by Tony Slug (LOVESLUG) and a band built out of genuine love for the legacy of Sonic's Rendezvous Band, the result was Powerglide -- a record that is tough, streetwise, soulful, elegant, and raw all at once. Originally released in 2001, Powerglide captures The Hydromatics in full flight. Original songs sit alongside explosive takes on material connected to the Sonic's Rendezvous universe, all delivered with nerve, conviction, and the kind of authority that simply cannot be faked. The guitars bite, the rhythm section drives relentlessly, and above all there is Scott Morgan's voice -- capable of sounding fierce, wounded, and defiant within the very same line. Far from being a mere exercise in homage, Powerglide stands tall as a living, breathing record with a personality all its own: high-octane rock'n'roll fueled by rhythm and blues soul and steeped in the unmistakable spirit of Detroit. This is an album for those who understand that proto-punk, garage soul, and real rock'n'roll were never separated by any meaningful border in the first place.

"Birdman Records reissues Invisible Men, the early space explorations of electronic music pioneer F/i. In the mid-80s F/i was on the cutting edge of electronic bombast, producing cassette tapes of late-night interstellar sessions to be traded world over with the handful of heads that were plugged into similar perambulations. As a link between Throbbing Gristle and the Spacemen 3, this period of F/i has been woefully forgotten, until now. Later in the '80s, F/i would morph into Vocokesh continuing their space rock explorations. The 2LP set features founding member Richard Franecki, Brian Wensing, and Steve Zimmerman, and includes the ultra-rare recording 'Air' (produced around the same time as Invisible Men). AMBARCHI, OREN Hubris (10th Anniversary Remaster) CD
Newly remastered version of Oren Ambarchi's long out-of-print classic Hubris, originally released on Editions Mego in 2016. Expertly remastered by audio wizard Joe Talia who worked with the original mixes, highlighting the myriad details of the audio with forensic precision, previously unheard up until now. From the 2016 press release: Hubris continues the exploration of relentless, driving rhythms heard on Ambarchi's Sagittarian Domain (2012) and Quixotism (2014). Where those records looked to Krautrock and techno for their starting points, the sidelong opening track here begins from the perhaps unlikely inspirations of disco and new wave, drawing particularly from Ambarchi's love of Wang Chung's soundtrack to William Friedkin's To Live and Die in L.A. Leaving behind the song-forms of these reference points, Ambarchi weaves a sustained and pulsating web of layered palm-muted guitars from which individual voices rise up and recede, eventually setting the stage for some lush guitar synth from Jim O'Rourke. Arnold Dreyblatt collaborator Konrad Sprenger contributes overtone-rich motorized guitar, pushing the piece into a satisfying intersection of shimmering minimalism and rhythmic drive that smoothly builds up until the entrance of Mark Fell's electronic percussion in its final section. After a short second part, in which Ambarchi, O'Rourke and crys cole pay tribute to the skewed harmonic sense of Albert Marcoeur with a track built from layered guitar figures and abstracted speech, the long final piece pushes the concept of the first side into darker and denser areas. Joined by electronics from Ricardo Villalobos and the twin drums of Will Guthrie and Joe Talia, the layered guitars of the first piece are transformed into a raw and tumbling fusion-funk groove that calls to mind early Weather Report or even the first Golden Palominos LP. As this stellar rhythm section rides a single repeated chord change into oblivion, a series of spectacular events emerge in the foreground: first, aleatoric synthesizer burbles from Keith Fullerton Whitman, then slashing skronk guitar from Arto Lindsay, until finally Ambarchi's own fuzzed-out harmonics take center stage as the piece builds to an ecstatic frenzy. Few artists could hope to include such an incredible variety of collaborators on one record and still hope for it to have a unique identity, but Ambarchi manages to do just that, crafting three pieces that emerge directly out of his previous work while also pushing ahead into new dimensions.

HAMANN/JAMES RUSHFORD, JUDITH Midmeste LP
Australian composer-performers Judith Hamann and James Rushford have worked together in countless projects for two decades, perhaps most notably in Golden Fur, their trio with Sam Dunscombe. Black Truffle presents Midmeste, their first work as a duo. Its title is Middle English for "the middlemost point," alluding to how the piece builds on the points of overlap between the highly personalized musical languages Hamann and Rushford have developed in recent years. Performed on cello and a variety of pipe organs, Midmeste is a spacious, sometimes unsettling exploration of their shared interest in alternative tunings, psychoacoustic phenomena, the physical properties of their instruments, and the usually peripheral sounds generated by the performing body. Beginning with a sequence of austerely vibrato-less harmonics from Hamann's cello, trailed by Rushford's whistling portative organ tones, the music soon expands into a slow-moving melodic wander, pausing at times to linger over an uncomfortable harmony or particularly resonant cello tone. Hamann and Rushford have long histories of engagement with pre-Classical European musical traditions, having in past projects performed and radically extended the work of Solage, Louis Couperin, Johann Conrad Beissell and other composers. Here they use a 15th century song by John Dunstaple, "O rosa bella," which returns throughout the piece, distorted, aerated and splayed into new forms. Developed while the two shared residencies at Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart in 2020 and La Becque on Lake Geneva in 2023, Midmeste integrates recordings made (at the invitation of the Biennale Son) on the organ of the Basilica St Valere in Sion, Switzerland. Played by both Rushford and Hamann, the instrument's idiosyncratic features, including bellows pumped manually using massive wooden beams, are integrated into the music through amplification. Moving through a series of distinct episodes across its forty-minute span, Midmeste makes space for near-silent duets of high harmonics and hissing air, moments where twittering high tones and rumbling sub-bass could be electronic, and static fields that unexpectedly blossom into almost Romantic harmonies. Listeners familiar with Hamann and Rushford's work will find many familiar features here: the stunningly rich cello tones, their patient sustain allowing heightened awareness of the inner life of sound and its interactions with the environment; the care with which acoustic space is activated, becoming at times a third instrumental voice; the attention to fragile, unstable sonorities that sometimes have a comic edge. A major work from two key figures in contemporary experimental music, Midmeste synthesizes rigorous exploration of fundamental questions of sound and performance with an unapologetic embrace of beauty.

ALIT & GAMELAN SALUKAT, DEWA Baur Bentur LP
Dewa Alit, master of radical Balinese gamelan, returns to Black Truffle with Baur Bentur. Genetic introduced international listeners to the magical sound-world of Alit's Gamelan Salukat, who perform on instruments tuned to a unique scale derived from modified versions of two traditional Balinese scales. The two pieces heard on Chasing the Phantom further demonstrated his radical fusion of tradition and experimentation, with passages where unorthodox techniques make the acoustic ensemble resemble glitching electronics. Baur Bentur now highlights another aspect of Alit's work, presenting pieces composed in 2024 and 2025 where Gamelan Salukat performs alongside virtuoso pianist Sri Hanuraga. Alit's music is grounded in deep reflection on the tradition of Balinese gamelan and its place in the contemporary world. His title, "Baur Bentur," which translates as "mixing and smashing," points to his embrace of the intercultural mixture of Eastern and Western elements in the search for innovation. Against the calcification of Balinese music into tourist entertainment, Alit poses his searching, experimental work, which celebrates the communal values and performance practices of traditional gamelan while pushing into startling new directions. "Sukat Tacara" is a study in layered tempos, meters, and polyrhythms, a constantly shifting dialogue between piano and the instruments of Gamelan Salukat. It begins close to a traditional concerto, pairing a brisk sequence of melodic variations from the piano with a spare but propulsive accompaniment of drums and hanging metallophone tones, punctuated by low gong strikes. The piece dazzles with its inventive rhythms and dynamics, building to a stunning passage featuring the signature heavy muting technique of the Gamelan Salukat metallophones in kinetic patterns that would be at home on a Príncipe release. The title piece begins at high intensity and rarely lets up, working through bracing unison ensemble melodies and punctuation points where piano and gamelan together seem to become a single, thudding drum. For much of the piece the piano is tightly integrated into the ensemble, the harmonic extensions of the melodic line subsumed into a moving cloud of complex overtones generated by the gamelan instruments. Wildly kinetic on the rhythmic level, the piece swarms with microscopic movements of beating patterns generated by the "blend and crush" of three simultaneous tuning systems: the equal temperament of the piano and the saih cenik (small scale) and saih gede (big scale) used by the gamelan instruments. Accompanied by the composer's thoughtful liner notes and images of the musicians, Baur Bentur is a stunning next step in Alit's radical combination of tradition and innovation.

SCHICKERT, GUNTER Uberfallig LP
2026 restock. 180 gram LP version. Bureau B reissues Günter Schickert's album Überfällig, originally released in 1979 on Sky Records. "No sooner had electronic music broken through in Germany, principally aligned in the two schools of Düsseldorf and Berlin, than Günter Schickert also began his first musical experiments. Although GAM, the group he founded in 1973, did not then release a record, he did issue his first solo effort, Samtvogel, a year later -- an album which was eagerly snapped up and re-released by the Brain label. It would take five years for Sky Records to release his next LP, entitled Überfällig (trans. "Overdue"), which proved to be the last for a number of years. This album, as its German title suggests, was long overdue. Günter Schickert had developed his own unique, forward-looking type of music, assuming an exceptional position in the concert of German electronics. In spite of the clearly discernible influence of music from the so-called Berlin school (Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel etc.), Schickert is anything but a copycat. Schickert concentrated on pursuing his own ideas and pushing the boundaries of his remarkable aural creations. He is at pains to emphasize that, unlike almost all of his contemporaries, he did not use any synthesizers; his instruments are the electric guitar, his own studio with a multi-track tape machine and a comfortable arsenal of effects. Similar experiments had also been attempted by Manuel Göttsching (Inventions For Electric Guitar) and Achim Reichel (A.R. & Machines: Die Grüne Reise), but without stretching the multifaceted nature of their music to the point of microtonality, as Schickert dared to do on Überfällig. His own take on minimalism places him closer to the likes of Steve Reich and Glen Branca, free from the reach of Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream. Schickert's use of concrete sounds and his completely autonomous way of working in his own studio presaged a stage of development more readily associated with the early 1980s. In 1979, the album was a statement of a virtuosic outsider, a guitarist and sound sculptor whose musical visions transgressed the level of expectation of a potential audience, detached from the electronic mainstream. Günter Schickert was one of the protagonists who furthered the development of experimental pop music from the outer margins. The reissue of Überfällig was, in a word, overdue." --Asmus Tietchens; Liner notes by Asmus Tietchens.

BERMAN TRIO, JOSH Everybody Else's Life, Too CD
Were you to tap the lifeblood of Chicago music, you would find Josh Berman flowing liberally through its veins. Active on the scene for more than a quarter century, the cornetist, bandleader, and composer has helped retain the unique flavor of the city's soundscape, with particular attention to the music of its jazz past -- groups like the Austin High Gang and the Oliver-Armstrong lineage and Freddie Keppard, as well as more recent figures from Lester Bowie to Wadada Leo Smith. But Berman is more inter-stylistic synthesist than moldy fig, a fact nowhere better demonstrated than in his powerhouse trio. On Everybody Else's Life, Too, the group's second record, Berman has found the perfect percussionist for his compact-yet-expansive compositions. Chris Corsano, who plays in a staggering array of contexts from voluble free jazz to timbral sonic experiments, is in turn ideally complemented by Jason Roebke's bass playing, which is equally adept in all areas melodic, swingful, and textural alike. A sharp studio recording captures the rapport and playfulness, as well as the adventure, inherent in the threesome's dynamic interaction.

VERDIN, WALTER Minimalize Your Reworks 2LP
A year after PINGPONG, the 2LP compilation with unearthed music from 1980-2000 by Walter Verdin, Cortizona presents Minimalize Your Reworks, a collection of 12 reworks and interpretations of the 1981 composition "Minimalize" Verdin originally created for a video art installation. 12 totally different versions by 12 musicians, producers, DJ's and artists blowing the dust of this visionary track Verdin made at night in the studios of the audiovisual services of the university, somewhere in the Belgian city of Leuven. Minimalize Your Reworks features contributions from a wide range of musicians: Peaking Lights delivers a motorik manifesto for lost '80s kids with nostalgia for coin up games at a desolated Luna Park. Stripped down demented disco to keep the heartbeat in a trance. Jlin injects the old school vibe with a shot of firing future footwork reshaping it in a dazzling abstract bass buzzer. Céline Gillain sculpts Verdin's mantra into a brand-new story dribbling between deadpan bubblegum dance hall and tongue in cheek wordy rappinghood. A slow burning technicolor dream fading into a throbbing new ecstatic reality is maybe the best way to describe Transistorcake's translation of the original composition. Electronic body music of a Blade Runner generation chasing a Stranger Things reality in an upside -down world: Sagat's version explores new horizons for sure. Beton Brut goes for the short sharp shock and flips Walter's analogue tape advice into an insane grimey gabbercore classic for the year 2525. That's around the same time era where you can find the spirit of Legowelt's goofy robotic interpretation of "Minimalize": Star Trekking across the universe, boldly going forward with the vocoder and the 808 until everyone's dancing or at least moving their feet. Together with his vintage echodeck, Ossia exploring and pushing dub and Mego boundaries here. DJ Marcelle takes bass to another level in her "Space Invaders Remix," deconstructing and splicing sound into a new form of what could be an anchor point for inzane Johnnies testing and fine-tuning their boombox car sound system. Patrick Stevens slams your brain with an industrial stomper - banging like a 1984 anthem The Hafler Trio knocks on the doors of perception and enters your sonicsoul with hidden subliminal messages like only Andrew McKenzie can. Annelies Monseré transcends cosmic minimal frequencies from another dimension into an unknown maximalized spectrum. Just with her voice and harmonium she delivers acoustic shoegaze and a hauntingly hypnotizing mantra of 8 minutes and 10 seconds.

CHANT ARTIST COLLECTIVE/YOUTH/GAUDI Relics Of Tree Worship (In Dub) CD
"Featuring Youth (Martin Glover), Gaudi, the late Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Kermit Leveridge (Black Grape), Don Letts, Dan Morrell and Planetman, the record blends dub, ambient textures, spoken word and ritual chant into a meditation on trees as cultural, spiritual and ecological anchors. The album's 'Vision Tree' artwork was originally created by Jamie Reid in the 1990s and revisited for this project, one of his final creative works. Courtesy of the Jamie Reid Estate and John Marchant Gallery, the image anchors the project in a lineage of British countercultural art, extending CHANT's environmental ethos into visual form. CHANT was formed by environmentalist Dan Morrell and producer Youth as a creative extension of Morrell's long-standing tree-planting initiatives. Released via new eco-label Balance Recordings, a proportion of funds from Relics of Tree Worship (In Dub) will support tree-planting initiatives, including projects located at the Bob Marley Mausoleum in Nine Mile, Jamaica -- linking recorded sound directly to living landscape and reggae's spiritual homeland. As a dub record, Relics of Tree Worship (In Dub) uses repetition, low-frequency depth and space as a form of meditation. Youth and Gaudi's production balances analogue warmth with expansive sound design, while contributions across the album bring history, myth and contemporary environmental urgency into dialogue. The project also marks one of the final creative appearances of Lee 'Scratch' Perry, whose legacy of sonic experimentation and spiritual subversion resonates throughout."

CHANT ARTIST COLLECTIVE/YOUTH/GAUDI Relics Of Tree Worship (In Dub) 2LP
Double LP version.

COURETTES, THE The Soul Of... The Fabulous Courettes (Black/White Vinyl) LP
"The Courettes are back with their fourth and best album to date -- The Soul Of? The Fabulous Courettes. And this time, they're bigger, wider and deeper than ever before as they add more to the blistering ramalama that's seen them cause pandemonium across the venues, festivals and airwaves of the UK, Europe, USA and Japan. Hitting the sweet spot that straddles garage rock, girl groups, doo-wop harmonies, heartache and all points in between, here The Courettes build on the momentum of predecessor Back In Mono with a collection of songs that opens up their sonic scope while confronting dark, emotional matter to reveal 'The Soul Of The Fabulous Courettes'. Having evolved with each album release, The Soul Of? The Fabulous Courettes draws inspiration from many of the duo's numerous idols that have only previously been hinted at. 'We wanted to show our love of the Spector Wall Of Sound and Motown,' reveals Flavia. 'It was a clear mission and we've absolutely nailed it.'"

THEE HEADCOATEES A Curious Case Of... 4CD
"Brand new artwork by Bruce Brand and a booklet with a look back from Thee Headcoatees themselves. 'There we were, sitting round a kitchen table coming up with ideas and tunes for Girlsville. 'Wild Man' - wow! 'Round Every Corner' (written for us by Billy), 'First Plane Home', a Kinks cover always played in the live set, as was 'Meet Jacqueline' (apparently penned by Albert Hammond, odd!) Every track was a winner, I think. Then we went to conquer the world with our albums Have Love Will Travel, Bozstik Haze (not purple!), and Punk Girls plus numerous 7-inch crackers. The fun we had until Here Comes Cessation. Well so we thought. Standing on Rochester Bridge, very chilly holding onto our uniform deerstalkers. 'Louis Riel' of course, not 'Louie Louie' was a great idea. 'My Boyfriend's Learning Karate' was an ode to Tetsuya in Japan. Then there is The Trogg's beautiful song 'Baby Come Closer' and 'Baby Please' written by Billy which could well be a Troggs song! Beautiful harmonies. 'You Can't Resist', always on the live set, is the "shag song" and the very psychedelic 'Gotta Get Inside That Boy's Mind' - dreamy! In this case Stanley the Terrier (left me a present as I remember). Photo location in beautiful Biddenden. There are some smashers on this one -- 'It's Bad' (Bongo) is terrifying! 'When You Stop Loving Me' (Kyra), again a staple in the live show, God she meant it! 'Again and Again', one of my fave Childish compositions, and a not bad rendition (if I say so myself) of the Pretty Things' 'You'll Never Do It Baby'. A great record, so off you go -- walkies! What are we wearing on the cover? That aside, wow! 'Ca Plane Pour Moi' -- fantastic! (well Kyra is Belgian). The marvelous 'Teenage Kicks' -- well done Bongo! 'Cara-Lin' is a little masterpiece too. 'Don't Wanna Hold Your Hand' -- well, why not?! I think you can say I've enjoyed revisiting these gems, hope you do."

BUNYAN, VASHTI Just Another Diamond Day LP
2026 repress. Deluxe gatefold vinyl edition. "With a book of lyrics and artwork, updated by Vashti herself. This vinyl reissue of Vashti Bunyan's lone 1970 solo release features contributions from British folk royalty including members of Fairport Convention and preeminent producer Joe Boyd." "Vashti Bunyan's lone 1970 solo release features contributions from British folk royalty including members of Fairport Convention and preeminent producer Joe Boyd. Vashti was recently heard singing alongside Devendra Banhart on the title track of Rejoicing In The Hands. The songs were written over two summers and one winter of travelling. After a chance meeting that winter with Derroll Adams (noted Woody Guthrie era folksinger and banjo player) who told her not to 'hide her light under a bushel,' Vashti took the songs of her journey to Joe Boyd. A year later he recorded Just Another Diamond Day, inviting Robin Williamson of the Incredible String Band, and Dave Swarbrick and Simon Nicol (who also played on Nick Drake's records) from Fairport Convention to accompany Vashti on some tracks. The album was released late in 1970 to little attention. The music was abandoned by the singer in favor of further horse journeys and complete obscurity. However, over the years all the recordings have succeeded in finding their own way to the notice of music collectors. The master tape of the album lay in a London warehouse for thirty years before being unwisely taken across the city in an underground train and getting wet in a raging thunderstorm, but has survived almost intact. The four additional on this edition are from well traveled old vinyl, acetate demos, and home recorded tape." -- Paul Lambden.

BUNYAN, VASHTI Lookaftering (Expanded) 2LP
2026 repress; double LP version. "Marking the occasion of twenty years since the original release, and coinciding with Vashti Bunyan's 80th birthday, DiCristina is pleased to present Lookaftering (Expanded), a reissue of her legendary second album. This new expanded edition features the original studio album along with a second disc of demos, an alternate take, and a live performance. This edition also comes with a stunning 16-page lyric book featuring a collection of paintings by Vashti's daughter, Whyn Lewis -- paintings that they both say have closely, and coincidentally, reflected the lyrics of the album. Also included are sleeve notes from Vashti, producer Max Richter, and Devendra Banhart. Originally recorded between 2001 and 2005, the unreleased demos were created at Vashti's home, with Vashti accompanying herself on electric and acoustic guitar along with a host of experimental instrumentation including synths, accordion, piano, strings, pipe organ, harmonium and recorders. The demos offer a more stripped-back sound, with the live version of 'Lately,' recorded in 2006 at the Echo in LA, offering a pitch perfect performance by Vashti's North American touring band of Gareth Dickson, Jo Mango, Kevin Barker, Helena Espvall, and Kat Hernandez. Listening to the demos and final versions side by side while reading the sleeve notes, and taking in the beautiful new artwork is a wonderful experience."

BLACK DOG, THE Feral Grace CD
"Feral Grace was written around old childhood places reclaimed by nature, or replaced by new housing estates. Places long forgotten, their purpose discarded as the world moved on. Yet the memories stay there, caught in the undergrowth, thought of once in a while. We remember gathering leaf moss from the woods for our tomato plants. Building dams in shallow streams. Filling our wellies with frog spawn and carrying it home like treasure. Small acts that felt large at the time. Fishing banks where we spent hours. Not talking, just sharing food. Two cans of shandy bass and egg sandwiches. The water long drained and the people gone, but if you look hard enough you can still see the faint outline of where it once was. Some places still hold the paths where people once walked to work. The tracks remain cut into the land, but the work itself has gone. Trades smashed during the years of Thatcher, ripping communities apart. That memory still lives on. You see it when a scab walks into the pub. Some things are never forgotten. The music on Feral Grace sits between then and now. A bridge between memory and the present day. A last spell cast before those memories fade and the fingerprints disappear. Who will know we were here at all? Perhaps only a distant echo left behind in our Feral Grace." --The Black Dog

BLACK DOG, THE Music For Real Airports (Boxset 2) 5CD BOX
For the first time, this five CD box set brings together the work around Music For Real Airports. Long admired by listeners, the collection includes Music For Real Airports, Music For Airport Lounges, Music For Dead Airports, Live At The Millennium Galleries, and The One Escape Bar. It features a substantial amount of new unheard material, alternate mixes and live recordings taken from our archive. This second box set reflects a long and uneasy relationship with airports. Airports present a controlled fiction, a managed calm built on delay, surveillance and routine. Across five hours of music, much of it previously unheard and available for the first time, the box set confronts the modern reality of travel and the corporate structures that shape it. The music documents these spaces as they are experienced rather than as they are sold.

SIGNER 00-04 2LP
Originally released in 2025. "Perfect Location Records in partnership with the one and only Ear Candy Music presents 00-04, a compilation of early works by Bevan Smith aka Signer, New Zealand's most prominent name in ambient electronica and dub techno. Smith has been producing emotive chords, pop ambience, and thick dub-o-spheres since before the turn of the century. His output is prolific, ranging from various solo monikers (Aspen, Introverted Dancefloor) and collaborations (Skallander, Feeling Flying) to unique projects (Touching the Void soundtrack, Isolated Dreams' 24 EPs and counting). A rare artist with indie crossover appeal thanks to the 2004 Signer album The New Face of Smiling released on Carpark Records (Toro Y Moi, Beach House, Dan Deacon, Montag), Smith has played as a member of bands such as The Ruby Suns (Sub Pop), Over the Atlantic (Involve), and Glass Vaults (JUKBOXR). Encompassing field recordings and evoking a cloudy coastal sky, 00-04 is a collection of mostly unheard material written in the early 2000s as Smith navigated the chaos and stress of living in London just after 9/11. A portion of this release may be recognizable to those familiar with the Involve catalog -- 'Drone Early,' for example, is an alternative version to the dub giant '1201A' -- and to those acquainted with Signer's 2002 Low Light Dreams (Carpark/Involve), an iconic album composed of processed guitar, dub-influenced bass, and synth drones; as if that doesn't sound appealing enough, Low Light Dreams is home to 'Building Memories Without You,' an unforgettably engulfing track featured on Fact Magazine's '25 Best Dub Techno Tracks of All Time.' 00-04 is a (re)issue both nostalgic and new, familiar yet unknown, fresh out of the archive. It possesses the Low Light Dreams aural palette while offering a carefully curated array of never before heard icy-cold moods, soothing minimalism, and shyly optimistic melodies, all glazed with recently finalized additions."

Released in full on vinyl for the first time (a now highly sought-after 5-track sampler was the only vinyl version originally produced), this release also includes three previously unreleased bonus tracks, all made during the same era. Released by Merck in 2004, after acclaimed releases on Toytronic and Parotic, Sinking's unique amalgam of crystalline sound design, blissed-out atmospheres, and gorgeous melodies made for an instant classic. A supremely deep record, nobody has made anything quite like it, before or since."

TAMERLAN, IGOR Bali Vanilli: Experimental Pop From Paradise Island (1987-1991) LP
Igor Tamerlan is a stranger in his own land. During his brief stint at Sciences Po, Igor spent most times hanging out at recording studios and rubbed shoulders with the likes of singer-songwriter Jean-Jacques Goldman and Michel Polnaref. He had a brief encounter with The Rolling Stones in the early 1970s. But Igor's musical education and his occidental eyes appeared to be ill-suited for Indonesia. His first record, titled Langkah Pertama (First Step) on the mainstream label Musica was met with a shrug and was a commercial dud. An experimental record blending the influence of Spanish motifs, Francophile production and a whiff of hip hop and ska was seen by critics as being too alien. He left the label Musica -- or may had been dropped -- soon after Langkah Pertama and decided to go independent. He then relocated to Bali and set up a state-of-the-art recording studio in Sanur, across the street from Southeast Asia's first boutique hotel where luminaries like Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Sting, Yoko Ono and Ringo Starr stayed for their holiday. From the studio, Igor recording everything from the sounds waterfalls, geckos, minibuses to motorized rickshaw and mix them with hip hop, jazz, electronica, dub and Balinese gamelan. A visionary, Igor was the first musician to use MIDI, which started to be available globally in the early 1980s. On paper, songs like "Bali Vanilli" should not work, a mish mash of disparate elements mentioned above, sung in three languages, Balinese, English and Bahasa Indonesia while tackling the subject of overtourism. But for some strange reason "Bali Vanilli" became a sensation and overnight Igor became household name. And in 1987, long before overtourism was an issue, Igor broached the subject to a national audience in Indonesia on the possible destruction of nature and culture from tourism. Ever an iconoclast, Igor decided to step out of the limelight following the success of "Bali Vanilli" and in early 1990s he relocated to Indonesia's cultural capital, Yogyakarta. Here, he worked on some more experimental music while juggling as music video director. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 64. The 10 songs in this compilation, Bali Vanilli: Experimental Pop from Paradise Island (1987-1991), are some of Igor's best works, music that would have gone into obscurity had it not been for the diligent work of film director Alfred Pasifico Ginting, who managed to track down some of the master tapes while researching on a documentary on the musician.

LA POLLA RECORDS Donde Se Habla LP
This album, recorded in 1988 at Elkar Studios in Lasarte, is a happy accident, like much of La Polla Records' early output, by Jean Phocas (who also worked with other bands of the genre such as Cicatriz) and César Ibarretxe. It was lovingly designed, with a medieval atmosphere for the cover (by Txefo, Joseba Olalde and Txarly) featuring a huge scroll containing five tarot cards, a back cover in the same style with heraldic figures, and a meticulous presentation of the lyrics with separate spellings for each song, on a double sheet with photos of piglets suckling from their mother on one side and various images on the other. With animals as the common thread for the songs, it represents the confirmation that the concept album had arrived on the national punk scene. Perhaps a work of maturity, the band's traditional objectives disappear from the lyrics, and although there is still room for specific protests and chronicles of nights of alcohol and violence (such as those of La Rata), the emphasis is on reveling in the description of all kinds of personal, psychotic and hallucinatory hells. Evaristo confessed to being influenced by Umberto Eco's book The Name of the Rose (1980) in the making of this work. Far from indicating any departure from the foundations laid in previous works, it shows that the spectrum of the anti-establishment struggle the group was committed to was broad. A very complete album.

LA POLLA RECORDS Bajo Presion LP
According to the court ruling in the lawsuit brought against the band, allegedly by a former technician, this album should have been released under a different name for the group. Perhaps as a provocative nod, the individual who appears on the cover wearing a nut as an oppressive turban is struck on the back cover by the hammers of Justice and the Law. However, the group ignores this and continues to sign as it has been doing since 1983. The musical arrangements are more powerful, with the guitars taking precedence over the rest much more than before. The drums are also more present. The soundscape takes center stage, even over the lyrics. The opening track, "Monopoly," is representative of this, with its fast-paced rhythm provided by galloping guitars. Originally released in 1994, it is surprising how, almost ten years after their debut, La Polla Records were still capable of making albums of such intensity.

METRO AREA Metro Area 3LP
2026 repress! In the late nineties, the budding producers Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani bonded over their shared love of slower tempos and '70s and '80s New York City club culture. Obsessed with record digging and the sounds they heard on late-night "club classics" radio shows -- and turned off by current releases they saw as artlessly "updating" sublime disco by sampling, filtering, and subjugating them with huge kick drums -- the duo set out to discover how their favorite old 12" records were made. They naturally gravitated towards extended dubs of songs -- full of strange mistakes and echoing backing tracks -- instead of the better-known vocal versions. Lacking the big budgets and gear that made so many of their favorite classic records come together, they were forced to take a guerrilla approach. They reprogrammed their techno-oriented arsenal of secondhand synths and samplers, using novel digital recording technology to capture live instrumentation and prioritized mood over hooks, and the resulting music was just wrong enough to sound unlike anything else being released at the time. After just four underground 12" releases, the duo -- now well-known as Metro Area -- released their first and only album, Metro Area, in the fall of 2002. Fifteen years later, it's time to celebrate the culmination of their shared history and inspiration once again. Environ is proud to present the 15th Anniversary Edition of Metro Area, Metro Area's eponymous debut album, meticulously remastered using the original source tapes and generously spread across three slabs of vinyl. The 12-track triple LP combines all the songs from both the original US and licensed European releases, and features new commemorative artwork unique to this edition.

GRUPO UM Starting Point LP
2026 restock; LP version. Includes insert. The previously unreleased debut album from 1975. In 1975, under the oppressive military dictatorship in Brazil, brothers Lelo and Zé Eduardo Nazario invited bassist Zeca Assumpção to join their musical experiments in a basement under Sao Paulo's Teodoro Sampaio Street. As teenagers, the trio had already been playing together in Hermeto Pascoal's Grupo, alongside guitarist Toninho Horta and saxophonist Nivaldo Ornelas, and it was while working together under Hermeto's direction that the Paulista rhythm section (as they were then known) began to realize their own potential. With many nightclubs and venues closed in the mid-70s and government censors dictating the output of radio, TV, and art galleries, many Brazilian artists fled. But underground, Grupo Um were fusing avant-garde ideals with contemporary jazz and Afro Brazilian rhythm; making phenomenally free and expressive music -- in stark contrast to the sterile, conservative conditions being imposed above ground. Just like Hermeto Pascoal's Viajando Com O Som from the following year, Starting Point was recorded over two days at Vice-Versa Studios, by revered engineer Renato Viola. The studio was one of the best in Sao Paulo and musicians communicated with engineers through cameras and a monitor, allowing the group complete immersion in the process. They also made use of the studio's hemispherical tiled room, which served as an acoustic reverberation chamber. The album begins with Zé Eduardo Nazario's thunderous drum solo on "Porão da Teodoro", before clearing the clouds with the lone Berimbau which opens "Onze Por Oito". Built around a hypnotic electric bass line, heady Fender Rhodes improvisations, and more rip-roaring drums, it's a rapturous, electrifying freak-jam in 11/8. Like some invertebrate deep-sea curiosity, the free-form "Organica" is made up of Lelo Nazario's playfully eerie prepared piano, with Zé Eduardo's percussion flurries darting around Assumpçao's double bass. The equally non-conformist, percussion-only piece "Jardim Candida" features many of Zé Eduardo's homemade instruments, including a long saw blade played with vibraphone sticks and violin bow. While working with Hermeto, Zé Eduardo famously built his own all-in-one percussion set-up known as the "Barraca de Percussão" (Percussion Tent). "Suite Orquidea Negra" (Black Orchid Suite) was written by Lelo Nazario as the score for an imaginary movie about a rare, black orchid. The album closes with the triumphant "Cortejo dos Reis Negros" (Procession of Black Kings) -- a groovy variation on the Maracatu rhythm, with a two-note bassline underpinning piano improvisations, exultant wordless vocals, cuicas, slide-whistles and a very special guest appearance from Zé's dog Bolinha. Starting Point was to mark the inception of one of Brazil's most daring instrumental groups. Finally, almost fifty years later, this mesmerizing piece of history is here, and it was only the beginning...

LINDSTROM It's A Feedelity Affair (20th Anniversary) 3LP
Originally released on CD in 2006, It's A Feedelity Affair marked a formative moment in Hans Peter Lindstrøm's early career, compiling key tracks from his first wave of 12-inch releases between 2003 and 2006. Now, twenty years after the founding of his Feedelity label, the album is presented for the first time as a newly remastered vinyl edition. Released at a time when electronic music was shaped by extended runtimes and physical formats, It's A Feedelity Affair captured a club culture rooted in patience, atmosphere, and spatial awareness rather than immediacy. Its long-form approach remains central to the album's lasting appeal and resonates strongly with today's renewed focus on vinyl and immersive listening experiences. The album stands as a document of an era marked by experimentation, expansive club tracks, and an open-ended vision of electronic music. Upon its original release, the album received widespread international attention, including a Best New Music rating (8.4) from Pitchfork. The track "I Feel Space" has since become one of Lindstrøm's most enduring and recognizable works. The album also documents some of his earliest collaborations with Prins Thomas and Christabelle, resulting in tracks such as "Boney M Down" and "Lovesick." Lindstrøm relaunched Feedelity in 2024, with the label returning in 2025. 180gram heavyweight 3x12" vinyl. Includes OBI strip. Features original artwork by Ole Martin Lund Bø and original liner notes by Daniel Wang.

GENDRON, MYRIAM Ma Delire - Songs of Love Lost & Found 2LP
2026 restock. "It has been a while since the release Myriam's acclaimed 2014 debut album, Not So Deep as a Well (FTR 146-4LP). The intervening years have brought a smattering of live performances, a bouquet of children, Trump's Pandemic, and much more . . .
Different concepts for a new album were broached, but the seed of Ma Délire was planted when Myriam recalled a paper she written in university. It was about Leonard Cohen's recording of "The Lost Canadian (Un canadien errant)" from Recent Songs. Ostensibly a cover of an old Quebecois ballad, Cohen stripped away the specificity of the lyrics, tying the song's titular figure to the archetype of 'The Wandering Jew'. The theme of this paper returned to Myriam when she had a residency at the Old Mill in Le Bic, QC in August 2016. Benoit Chaput had turned her on to the traditional tune 'Au Coeur de ma Délire,' from a 1971 album by Dominique Tremblay and Philippe Gagnon. The song was so haunting, she decided to record it right there in the Mill's boat repair workshop. That is the very recording used here . . . This started Myriam musing about how the end of the Catholic hegemony in Quebec had the unanticipated consequence of making people think less of traditional Quebecois folk music, because so much of it was soaked in the blood of the lamb. It made sense this music should be explored and updated despite its dogmatic origins which Cohen had proved could be effectively expunged . . . Just as the world was shutting down, Myriam was awarded a grant which allowed her the time and space to fully investigate and develop this material. She had spent years sifting through traditional music from Quebec, France and the U.S., highlighting parts of songs and ideas she liked, discarding some she found abhorrent, and merging the good bits with her own writing or other cannibalized shards. At some juncture she flashed on this work's common thread -- its thematic roots were always in one type of romantic longing or another. And so, this album came together during the dark days of the General Lockdown. Mixing vocal tracks with instrumentals, singing in both French and English, using a syncretic blend of original, modern and traditional lyrics, Ma Délire fearlessly wanders through a universe of its own invention, daring us to open our minds wide enough to take it all in. Myriam initially recorded with just guitar and vocals. But when she began working with the sound engineer Tonio Morin-Vargas, he had some insightful suggestions about additional instrumentation that might broaden the album's sound without confounding it. Myriam had already planned to ask her friends, Bill Nace and Chris Corsano, to add some things, so the whole shebang evolved as organically as most great records do..." --Byron Coley, 2021 |

MONOLAKE Interstate 2LP
Continuing its faithful documentation of the early years of Monolake, Field Records present the first-ever vinyl pressing of seminal 1999 album Interstate. In a kaleidoscopic lattice of micro-rhythms and exquisitely dynamic textural work, Robert Henke and Gerhard Behles fully collaborated for the final time on this record -- and created an electronica landmark in the process. Monolake's evolution from their earlier dub-techno-tinted works saw their exploration of Max/MSP go further out. The duo yielded greater complexity in the behavior of their sound palette to achieve an organismic quality that remains an enduring influence on so many strands of experimental electronic music today. Interstate is a vivid record that builds up eight different ecosystems of sound and subtly threads elegant grooves through their root structures. There's a house-like undulation to the low-end driving "Tangent-I" and "Tangent-II," but the infinitesimally detailed layers of sound on top swoon from techno synth shimmers to trickling waters, snaking delay trails and pin prick percussion. You can hear the unmistakable, snappy rhythmic thrust of drum and bass driving "Ginza," but here it's used as an engine for the crispest array of designer percussion and dub-soaked synth chirrups. Across every track, Henke and Behles demonstrate a potent combination, both groovily instinctive and eternally fascinating to try and pick apart. After Interstate, Behles departed to focus entirely on the development of Ableton Live and Henke steered Monolake towards a leaner -- but no less pioneering -- sound. Every Monolake record has its own unique context and sound, and the circumstances of Interstate could never be repeated. Capturing the leaps in progress that were being made in digital music production at the end of the millennium, it's an information-rich document of a moment in time that still sounds wildly futuristic 27 years later.

Binker and Moses are tenor saxophonist Binker Golding and drummer Moses Boyd -- two of the most exciting young jazz musicians on the thriving London jazz scene. Originally meeting through double bassist/educator Gary Crosby's Tomorrow's Warriors jazz development program, they have played together in various large and small format groups including recording and touring extensively as members of Zara McFarlane's band. Dem Ones is their debut recording as a duo, and has its roots in experiments between soundchecks and gigs while on the road with McFarlane. APPLEWOOD ROAD Applewood Road CD
Originally released in 2018. This is a brand-new US version of Applewood Road's rapturously received 2016 debut album -- featuring the honey-soaked harmonies and exquisite songwriting of the trio in all its glory, with the addition of an exclusive bonus 7" single. The single contains the band's heart melting rendition of REM's "Losing My Religion," on the A Side, backed with "My Dear Companion," both recorded live at their sensational Union Chapel show in November 2016. Applewood Road is Emily Barker, Amber Rubarth, and Amy Speace. In September 2014, three songwriters met for the first time in a cafe in East Nashville. By the next morning, they had put the finishing touches to their first song, "Applewood Road," which they recorded live to tape at Nashville's all analogue studio, Welcome to 1979. The song's nostalgic air, along with the clear, sparse arrangement of three vocals accompanied by double bass, drew immediate positive response, and they decided to expand the idea into a full album. Six months later, they reconvened to write, rehearse and record songs for the self-titled album Applewood Road. The songs were again performed live around a single microphone at Welcome to 1979 and recorded to 2-track tape with minimal accompaniment from some of Nashville's finest session players, including Telisha Williams, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Josh Day, Fats Kaplin, and Jabe Beyer.

GORDON, DEXTER Fried Bananas CD
Originally released in 2017. Previously unreleased from the original radio broadcast tapes. Recorded on November 3, 1972 for VPRO at Heemskerk Societeit Progress, The Netherlands. The great tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon moved to Europe in 1962. Ten years later he was living in Copenhagen when he went on the road with a Dutch rhythm section consisting of pianist Rein de Graaf, double bassist Henk Haverhoek and drummer Eric Ineke. This was quite unusual, as Dexter mostly toured as a solo artist working with local musicians in each town. By the time their performance at the Societiet Progress in Heemskerk was recorded for broadcast by VPRO, the quartet had been playing together regularly for two months. Dexter and his "Dutch band" had developed a deep rapport and understanding that's clearly evident on the three extended tracks on this record. These are two of his signature compositions, "The Panther" and "Fried Bananas," plus the iconic Coleman Hawkins classic "Body and Soul." With sleeve notes by Dexter's wife Maxine Gordon that include reminiscences and insights from drummer Eric Ineke and pianist Rein de Graaf, Fried Bananas is an important new addition to the recorded legacy of Dexter Gordon's fourteen years in Europe.

HURLEY, MICHAEL Ancestral Swamp LP
2026 restock. "Ancestral Swamp is the 20th full-length album by legendary rambler, cartoonist, 'outsider' folk singer, and guitarist Michael Hurley. It arrives just in the nick of time for the rabid Snockophile. A batch of new vittles and encores of some of his classic tunes, Ancestral Swamp bubbles with laid-back ease and tre-molodic goodness. Most songs have the simplest of arrangements: Hurley singing solo, accompanied by his guitar, Wurlizter organ, or fiddle. Tara Jane O'Neil helps lend a nice touch to 'El Dorado,' and Snock calls upon frequent past accomplices Dave Reisch and Louie Longmeyer for their graceful touch on sleepy winners like 'New River Blues' and 'Gamblin' Charlie.' As with all Hurley's albums, once one sets the needle down, one is put in a certain peace and place. His voice and songs are unique, shuffling with characters and visions clear and wild. With Ancestral Swamp, it seems Snock has left his front door open a bit wider than usual. If you lean in close, you can inhale a little of the vapor rising off the water, and enjoy a tale or two."

HURLEY, MICHAEL Ida Con Snock LP
2026 restock, originally released in 2009. "Michael Hurley is one of the last remaining ramblin' American folk troubadours. Hobo-ing around the country, making music since the days Bob Dylan first set foot in New York City's Gaslight club, Hurley recorded his first album for Moses Ash's legendary Folkways label in 1964 and continued to release albums for both Warner Brothers and Rounder. His mid-'70s Have Moicy! album was among the top ten for the decade selected by Rolling Stone magazine. While many of his contemporaries are long past their prime (or deceased), Hurley's muse is still intact. Hurley's songwriting talent hasn't gone unnoticed by a new generation of musicians. In recent years, he was invited to tour with alt-country heroes Son Volt and Lucinda Williams. He's also shared bills with Smog and Palace Brothers, played with the Giant Sand rhythm section, and has of course appeared with (and been covered by) Vetiver and appeared on their records. His songs have also been covered by indie stars Cat Power and Yo La Tengo, among others. So, the matter at hand, a new album of recordings sung and played by Hurley, backed by Ida, appropriately titled Ida Con Snock: Snock himself marvels at this 21st studio album, recorded at Levon Helms' studio in Woodstock, NY. Ida's less-is-more finesse shines on these rich recordings, melding perfectly with Hurley's playing and singing. Many of these songs are already well familiar to Hurley's devotees. There are seven originals and five loving covers of '50s rock 'n' roll, C&W, and vintage folk, each tune capturing Hurley and band at peak performance levels."

Many tours, many records, and many eardrums later, Guitar Wolf has returned for the latest, and greatest Guitar Wolf record yet -- More Jet. More raw, crunching guitar noise, frantic rhythms, and unpredictable screaming! More head-scratchingly-great song topics! The perfect blend of Link Wray/Ramones/Joan Jett/Cramps sound and attitude mixed with industrial-strength noise. Guitar Wolf never went away, yet they are back and better than ever on their original -- and forever -- home -- Goner Records!"

MANTECAS, THE Yes or No LP
The Mantecas represent one of the finest concentrations of experience and talent in Latin and jazz music ever to be based in the UK. A pure uplifting Latin jazz music celebration. Limited edition 250 copies: not-to-be-missed! Recorded at different locations in London during 2025/26. On their fabulous fourth album, The Mantecas (formerly Manteca) have moved the needle all the way in the direction of Latin jazz (or jazz latino). In their early years, the London-based eight-piece played a mix of salsa, Cuban timba, boogaloo, Latin funk and descarga (jazzy, improvised Latin jam session), with plenty of vocals, strictly geared for the dance floor. Along the way, the jazz-descarga aspect emerged as a stronger force, though all sorts of other ingredients, from afrobeat to Afro-Cuban, cumbia to samba, ebbed and flowed throughout. Although there's nothing new with the concept of doing an album of instrumental Latin tracks in a jazz mode that's still dance-friendly (Machito, Sabú Martínez, Tito Puente, and Tito Rodríguez all waxed jazz latino albums like that long ago), what's new here is The Mantecas' very fresh and confident interpretation of the idiom. And while they share something in common with the accessible, danceable Latinized soul jazz of someone like Mongo Santamaría or Willie Bobo, as well as the Afro-Cubop roots of Chano Pozo, they also bring to mind the more jazz-oriented improvisational legacy of Pozo's amigo Dizzy Gillespie, which is reflected in The Mantecas' explorations of a handful of 20th Century modern jazz giants as they rework timeless classics by John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Oliver Nelson, and Wayne Shorter. For this release, all seven tracks are essentially Latin renditions of jazz standards or are Latin jazz originals. There's a mix of jazz and Latin rhythmic structures, instrumentation, arranging, and sensibilities at play, and it's a very natural sounding mélange. Like their previous albums, some of the tunes feature a club-ready blend of hot and cool, in a Latinized British acid jazz/soul jazz way.

ELOY, JEAN-CLAUDE Gaku-no-Michi (1977-78) 4CD
Gaku-no-michi, "Tao of music" or "Ways of music." Film without images for electronic and concrete sounds. Produced at the electronic music studio of NHK Radio, Tokyo 1977-78. Digitalized and revised version from 2006. Jean-Claude Eloy is a French composer, born in 1938. He studied at the Paris National Superior Conservatory of Music, where he won First Prizes in Piano, Chamber Music, Counterpoint, Ondes Martenot, and studied composition with Darius Milhaud. He attended summer courses at Darmstadt (Pousseur, Scherchen, Messiaen, Boulez, Stockhausen) and was a student in composition in Pierre Boulez' master class at the Music Academy in Basel (1961-1963). Works by Jean-Claude Eloy have been performed all over the world. "Pachinko" introduces "Tokyo" in a deliberately stiff, regular, almost mechanical and untranscended way while the big spiral of long successive waves, which further develops through Tokyo, becomes more and more varied in its material ending in the surpassing and searched-for transubstantiation taking place throughout the final part. The second disc, "Fushiki-e", takes listeners through varied, complex, contrasted and sometimes violent sound episodes towards the four "stages of contemplation" including the last one, "Mokuso", which represents the ultimate stage of the contemplative. It is the longest part of the whole piece, lasting almost 80 minutes. "Banbutsu no Ryûdô" is a boundless continuous "weft" travelling so to say through all sorts of daily or exceptional "sound scenes" continually metamorphosing, going from political speeches to a Shishi Odoshi, transformed for a long time well before its pure, direct appearance. "Kaiso" is a moment of gravity innervated and built around the annual commemorative ceremony of Hiroshima, which however leads listeners beyond the evoked drama to a place of surpassing with peace through the "Han" sound, extending the work to infinity.

Shânti (1972-73) for electronic and concrete sounds. Electronic music studio, WDR, Cologne, Germany, 1972-73. Digitalized and revised version from 2001. "The term 'meditation music' triggered many conflicting comments including positive ones. Others, wondering at the strong sound presence of the piece, consider such aspect as hardly helpful to their own meditation. What meditates here is the composer. He is the one who takes you on his journey and guides you through his work like in a classic or romantic symphony. As a listener you are invited to follow 'his' meditation. The composition is the meditation."

THEY MUST BE RUSSIANS & Other Groundless Accusations CD
"They Must Be Russians were an irreverent post-punk band from Sheffield, England, taking their name from a newspaper quote about the Sex Pistols' 'God Save the Queen.' The group initially consisted of Russ Russian (vocals and guitar), Paul Russian (vocals and guitar), Carl (bass), and Brendan (effects). With production help from their local friends in Cabaret Voltaire, they debuted with the Nellie the Elephant EP in mid-1979. Another single, 'Don't Try to Cure Yourself,' was released on Fresh over a year later. A self-titled full-length was released by First Floor in 1983, and the LP Groundless Accusations was issued through Native in 1985. A year later, a 12" called Red Square was released with two album tracks and two new songs which have been included on this release. The group's sound is classic new wave/post punk like that of many of their contemporaries, so if you like Cabaret Voltaire, The Box, Screaming Trees or The Darling Buds then you will love They Must Be Russians, too. The whole album has been remastered by Martin Bowes of Attrition and is released on CD for the very first time."

BEYOND THE BEAT Where It Starts, Where It Ends CD
"Beyond the Beat is the debut album of Arthur Fussy (modular synthesizer) and Judith Schwarz (extended drums). Both make up 2/3 of the group Other:M:Other whose debut album was released on Klanggalerie. Arthur also works a lot for the theatre, and Judith plays in many bands, amongst others Gina Schwarz's Pannonica, Mel*E, PRCDR with Manu Mayr (another Klanggalerie release), ChuffDrone, and Little Rosies Kindergarten. Beyond the Beat is a rhythmic affair. Where does a bear start? When do the brain and conscience recognize a pattern? How abstract can a beat be to still be recognizable by the listener? Is rhythm a melody? Beyond the Beat explore the borders of rhythm and beat in a symbiosis of acoustic and electronic sounds. Get into their groove and marvel at the players virtuosity. An absolutely essential album at the border of jazz, electronic and avantgarde."

ROMA AMOR Back To Dark CD
"Roma Amor is a neofolk/dark cabaret band from Italy. Their music is located somewhere between the melodic folk-inflected charm of the 1960s Italian songwriters and the cabaret swoon of French chansonniers, Roma Amor's music is instinctively romantic and sophisticated, and can be described as chanson noir or folk cabaret. Their self-titled debut album came out on Old Europa Cafe in 2008, followed by Femmina and Occhi Neri. In 2014, On The Wire was released on Klanggalerie, extending the line-up of the group by inviting guest musicians to perform, and extending also the sound to a more sophisticated pop orientated music. Two more albums followed in 2015 and 2018, and in 2022 a double CD was released, with one album being a re-issue of their classic Femmina, and the other being a complete previously unreleased album. Back To Dark is the band's brand-new long player. It is a dark slow rock album -- with hints of goth and doom, recorded at the beginning of 2026 in Italy. Of course you won't have to miss the band's trademark folk-cabaret style on this album either, but you also get a cover of Throbbing Gristle's 'Discipline.' A new direction added to the group's portfolio."

Rex The Dog is taking listeners further out into the lesser-known realms of space disco. "Far Out!" is a reinterpretation of an early breakbeat rave tune from 1991 by Son'z Of A Loop Da Loop Era. It's a tribute to a simpler time when all you needed was a cascading piano riff played through a powerful sound system, with your best friend by your side. "I Need Your Body" showcases Rex The Dog's more introspective side, with yearning vocals spread across a heavily bouncing rhythm track full of mind-boggling dub effects.

KOHNCKE, JUSTUS Bass ist Musik LP + 10"
Justus Köhncke is a unique voice in the history of Kompakt -- and far beyond. He has contributed so many unforgettable tracks to the catalogue that it was difficult to make a selection. His sound has often been copied, but remains incomparable. From his deep knowledge and understanding of the history of pop, schlager and disco, he distilled not only official club hits such as "2 After 909" and "Timecode," but also countless poetic gems. Both sides of Justus Köhncke's work are united here on this record. Justus' music knows no boundaries, only "weiche Zäune (soft fences)." Special attention should be paid to the included bonus 10". Here you will find two of his most enchanting, hard-to-find cover versions. His immortal version of Jürgen Paape's evergreen "So weit wie noch nie" and the monumental adaptation of Round One's "New Day," originally released under the nom de guerre Kinky Justice.

KENNAN, CATE Shadows CD
"Los Angeles musician Cate Kennan's self-produced second full length unfolds with the poetry and immateriality of its title: Shadows. Ten vignettes of keys, strings, reverb, and voice, the songs sway and lope between dream and lullaby, rose-colored but remote. The album was inspired by the dislocation Kennan felt upon returning, after several years away, to the rustic neighborhood northwest of L.A. where she'd grown up: 'Wandering through a place where my life once existed but where everything had quietly shifted with time.' The music conjures a mood of distance, dust, and dazed emotion, alternately lulling and unraveling. From shuffling tumbleweed vignettes ('The Lone West,' 'Romantic Strings') to sepia-tone torch songs ('Shadows,' 'Reverie') to oblique keyboard meditations ('Moonlight,' 'Rain'), Kennan's soundworld moves with a muted, murky beauty, like alluring shapes seen through smudged glass. In her hands, haze is a transformative property, liberating melody and memory into landscapes still untraveled: 'What began as a period of nostalgia for me turned into a longing, not for the past, for a place that might exist somewhere beyond the horizon.'"

JALAL, NAISSAM Landscapes Of Eternity LP
"Landscapes of Eternity is the profound result of a spiritual and musical quest undertaken by Naïssam Jalal across North India. After months spent walking sacred landscapes and studying under the legendary bansuri master Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, the artist presents a repertoire where classical Hindustani music meets a deeply personal, contemporary vision. The album unfolds as a sonic tapestry, with each piece rooted in a specific Raga -- the melodic modes of Indian classical music -- corresponding to a particular time of day or sun position. From the dawn echoes of 'In the Rice Fields at Dawn' to the introspective 'Inner Landscape in Raag Kafi,' the music is anchored by the warm, enveloping harmonics of the tanpura. Naïssam Jalal's flute becomes the vehicle for this voyage, supported by a distinctive line-up featuring sarod, tablas, piano, and drums. Born from a period of extreme personal transformation, this project explores the capacity of time to accommodate eternity. Inspired by the 15th-century mystic poet Kabir and the philosophy of Alain Badiou, the work navigates the space between suffering and surrender, finding a state of inner peace where the self dissolves into the environment. More than a jazz or world music record, Landscapes of Eternity is a hymn of praise and gratitude. It is an invitation to a new way of listening to the world -- a song of prayer to the spirit that saves, and a vibrant testament to a wounded but resilient heart."

LOS MOCKERS Los Mockers LP
Released at the end of 1966, Los Mockers' debut album stands as one of the defining rock and roll records to emerge from South America in the 1960s. While often compared to The Rolling Stones because of Polo Pereira's unmistakable vocal swagger, the band built a sound of its own: rooted in the bluesier side of the British Invasion, yet rougher, fiercer, and unmistakably rioplatense. Recorded in Buenos Aires under modest technical conditions, the album transformed limitations into creativity. The result is a collection bursting with urgency and inspiration -- from swaggering rhythm and blues and explosive rock and roll to infectious pop melodies and unforgettable ballads. More than fifty years after its original release, the album remains as youthful, vibrant, and essential as ever.

LOS MOCKERS Rewind LP
Completes the vinyl collection of Los Mockers, alongside the reissue of their original 1966 LP and their 2018 EP Some Silly Songs. This handful of tracks, previously unreleased or out of print, traces the journey of five teenagers who, clinging to rock and roll, became legends. Blending the raw energy of 1960s rock and roll with rhythm and blues roots and later-day musical maturity, Los Mockers left a lasting mark on the Río de la Plata scene from their explosive beginnings to their 21st-century comeback. Rewind brings together rare recordings spanning nearly sixty years: from mid-1960s demos and singles to reunion sessions recorded between 2006 and 2012, including deleted material and an unreleased live track. Side A captures the band's early fire, opening with a 1965 demo of "I Just Want to Make Love to You," recorded under their original name, Los Encadenados, at Radio Ariel in Montevideo. It also includes their first original singles, "I Wanna Go" and "My Baby," plus the unreleased "Girl You Won't Succeed" and a fast, distinctly Uruguayan take on "Paint It Black." Side B focuses on the reunion era recordings made in Valencia, Spain, where the band revisited their legacy with renewed strength and craftsmanship. Tracks like "Need Some Time," "40 Years Ago," and "The Chain" show a seasoned group still driven by authentic rock and roll spirit, while "25 Watts" pays tribute to filmmaker Juan Pablo Rebella. The album closes with a powerful 2012 live version of "Tell Me Something New."

The brainchild of NYC-based vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Cesar Toribio, it is that rarity in dance music: a conceptual project that never lets ideation impede its primary motive of putting bodies in motion. Photay's two remixes range from an intoxicatingly moody rework, accumulating perfectly placed rhythmic layers while largely dispensing with traditional basslines, to the lovely Lullaby Remix, which dials back the percussion and plays up a simple thumb piano melody for maximum emotional resonance.

ESKORBUTO Los Demenciales Chicos Acelerados 2xCassette
Los Demenciales Chicos Acelerados is Eskorbuto's fourth studio album, originally released by Discos Suicidas in 1987. It was their most ambitious project, a double-album rock opera in the vein of Quadrophenia by their beloved The Who. It tells the story of an unscrupulous young man who wishes to achieve power at all costs, stepping over everyone and everything in order to do whatever he wants politically. In the end, he falls due to his ego and is betrayed by those around him. Hence lines such as "crowds are a nuisance", "I'll come unscathed out of the attacks planned by my image consultant" or "shouting in front of the scum". In 1988 band members Iosu and Juanma narrated the album's concept and story on a Radio Euskadi show, the Basque Country's public broadcaster. This satirical political plot also explains the controversial Nazi pictures on the front and back covers. Eskorbuto were equaling the unprincipled politician of their rock opera with the Nazis and Franco's dictatorship. It's a conceptual record that attacks any kind of dictatorial political regime. Although Los demenciales... came out on Discos Suicidas, in typical Eskorbuto fashion the band stole a copy of the master and sold it to the Twins label, which also released it a few months later with a different cover. The original sleeve caused some trouble, to say the least, with its combination of Nazi photos and the Spanish flag on the back accompanied by the words "Of national interest". The album contains new versions of a few previous tracks such as "Ratas rabiosas" and "Enterrado vivo" plus the studio version of "Más allá del Cementerio". For the recording the band enrolled keyboardist Aitor Amezaga, who would also collaborate on their next album.

ADOLESCENTS Adolescents LP
2026 repress. European edition with exclusive Ed Colver photo-poster, width 60 cm x height 30 cm. Few records from the American punk underground have echoed as far and wide -- or as enduringly -- as the Adolescents' self-titled debut, first released by Frontier Records in 1981. Known to fans simply as "The Blue Album," this landmark release captured the raw pulse of Southern California's teenage rebellion at a time when hardcore was beginning to take shape yet still holding onto the infectious urgency of punk's first wave. Formed in Fullerton, California, Adolescents brought together members of earlier OC punk outfits like Social Distortion and Agent Orange, fusing their varied influences into something uniquely their own. With songs like "Amoeba," "Kids of the Black Hole," and "No Way," the album offered more than just speed and volume -- it spoke directly to suburban alienation, youthful frustration, and the search for identity in a world that felt increasingly hostile and conformist. This new edition offers longtime listeners and new fans alike a chance to revisit -- or discover -- an album that helped define the West Coast punk sound. From its striking blue cover to its mix of melody, defiance, and urgency, Adolescents remains a vital listen, as relevant today as it was over four decades ago. It's an album that didn't just reflect its moment -- it shaped what punk could be: loud, smart, emotional, and unflinchingly real. Reissued with care and respect for its original spirit, "The Blue Album" stands not only as a milestone in punk history, but as a testament to the enduring power of youth in revolt.

LAGHONIA Glue LP
Reissue, originally released in 1960. After four brilliant singles, in 1969 the Peruvian band New Juggler Sound, formed by Saúl Cornejo (guitar), David Levene (lead guitar), Ernesto Samané (bass), Carlos Salom (organ), and Manuel Cornejo (drums), changed their name to Laghonia and released their debut LP Glue on the MAG label. The album included those previously released tracks, which were very influenced by the British rock scene of those years, to which they added fiery guitars bursting with fuzz and wah-wah, the ever present and hypnotic Hammond organ sound and Latin American percussion and rhythms. The result was a wonderful mix of mid-60s British beat melodies, Jimi Hendrix's intense rock, Cream's heavy blues and Santana's Latin rock. Glue is regarded as one of the key albums of Latin American psych and garage rock and is an essential record for any fan of those genres. Packaged in a clearly psychedelic gatefold sleeve designed by the band's drummer, Manuel Cornejo, Etcétera shares all the elements of the first LP although on this occasion the compositions, while keeping their immediacy and featuring strong melodies and choruses, have a more complex structure, ranging from psychedelia to progressive rock through superb dark King Crimson-esque passages and shining moments of pastoral folk. 180 gram vinyl LP in tip-on jacket, includes bonus 7" single and insert with liner notes.

CALEB Baby Your Phrasing Is Bad 7"
Caleb Quaye only released one single in the sixties under his own name, but what a record it is. Released on Philips in June 1967, "Baby Your Phrasing is Bad" boldly rides the surging psychedelic wave that was about to crest in London that summer with swirling fuzz guitar, a spiraling solo, and a hazy, spaced-out vocal. On the other side, "A Woman of Distinction" is only fractionally less freaky with treated vocals and a short but gracefully-executed guitar solo. Contrary to hearsay, rumors and guesswork, it can be confirmed that Elton John did not play on the session. However, shortly afterwards, this same core lineup, with Caleb producing, recorded an album with Elton, Regimental Sgt Zippo, a superb psychedelic pop work that remained unreleased until 2021. A master class of shimmering, surrealistic '67 British psychedelia that is widely considered a holy grail of the genre. Reissued for the first time.

DEAFKIDS Cicatrizes Do Futuro CD
"The Brazilian duo Deafkids returns with a vital and combustive new album, Cicatrizes Do Futuro (Scars Of The Future). This nine-track sonic assault forges a path beyond the conventions and boundaries of static musical genres. Here, electronic fury and feverish organic percussion collide with a relentless Latin American punk spirit. Conceptually, the album is a visceral diagnosis of a world intoxicated by its own fictions of power, tracing the anatomy of a systemic grand deception and exploring its mechanics of psychological, social, and material domination, the indelible marks imprinted on bodies and minds and it's catastrophic consequences. It is a journey from the poisoned and addicted collective psyche to the desperate search for an antidote, while the future seems to be already cursed by the very forces that pretend to build it. Yet, for all its thematic weight, Cicatrizes Do Futuro is hypnotically danceable -- physical and ritualistic music that demands body movement as a form of mental cleansing. The album doesn't just reflect a fractured and violent world -- it breathes desire to live and resist through new sonic paths."

GICHARD Chins For Lefty LP
"Chins For Lefty is the debut album and first recording by Gichard, a new duo chronicling the absurdities of end-stage capitalism and moldering social rituals from their vantage point in Glasgow, Scotland. Recorded primarily in the band's home studio straight to tape, Chins For Lefty combines gorgeous, ramshackle melody, DIY kosmische punk, drum machine and synth and, in vocalist/lyricist Lisa Jones, an absurdist commentator on the human condition as it navigates the anxieties of the modern world. Instrumentalist Chas Lalli's swirling music accompaniment stitches an evocative mix of musical styles, the ragged wind beneath the lyrics' wings. Although the duo first collaborated in their previous group Dragged Up, their disparate musical and artistic backgrounds make for an alluring mix in Gichard. Lalli has spent the last 20 years in the Glasgow underground, most notably in the noise rock group VOM, while Lisa Jones's practice was in poetry and spoken word. Beginning as co vocalist in her previous band, in Gichard her lyrics are center stage; the vision concocted alongside Lalli amounts to a total world-build. Chins For Lefty scans almost like a novel, with each track elucidating a skewed universe that bears only some resemblance to the one you partake in. Like all works of fiction Gichard's songs are rooted in reality and the lived experiences of its authors, but here characters are exaggerated, social mores and habits are pulled apart to reveal their inherent alienness. Universal emotions are laid bare, the bright light of anxious examination searching out every hairline fracture in relationships. Distorted and cracked, the mirror that Gichard hold up to the world is also pretty damn funny."

UT In Gut's House 2LP
Limited 2026 restock; double LP version. "Radical No Wave pioneers Ut reissue their critically acclaimed In Gut's House album -- their second studio album originally released in 1988 on Blast First Records, now fully remastered with original cover artwork, song lyrics and band photos. It made the year's NME 'Top 50 Albums'. Ut is a radical rock group founded by Nina Canal, Jacqui Ham and Sally Young in Dec '78. Originating in the downtown NYC No Wave scene and inheritors of the collision between rock, free jazz and the avant-garde, they exploded the rigidity of conventional rock, constructing songs through collective improvisation, swapping instruments and rotating the role of singer / director. Migrating to London in 1981, Ut played with bands like The Fall and The Birthday Party and released music on their own label Out Records, including Live At The Venue in 1982, the Ut EP in 1984, the Confidential 12-inch in 1985 and their first studio album Conviction in 1986. Ut became a favorite of BBC's John Peel and recorded sessions for his show in 1984, 1985 and 1987."

EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN Kollaps LP
2026 repress. Includes a large format 12-page booklet. Originally released in 1981, Kollaps is the seminal, form-destroying debut album by German industrial pioneers Einstürzende Neubauten (trans. "Collapsing New Buildings"). The band's use of junk metal, power drills, jackhammers and other surprising instrumentation would come to define their challenging and continually inventive career, making them not only one of the originators of industrial music, but one of the world's most influential and far-reaching forces at the intersection between avant-garde and rock music. Formed in 1980 in the wave of the Dadaist movement Die Geniale Dilletanten, after a series of devastating live performances and personnel changes (one of which briefly involving electronic musician Gudrun Gut), the band's line-up cemented itself with core members Blixa Bargeld, F.M. Einheit (previously of Hamburg-based post-punk band Abwärts) and N.U. Unruh. On Kollaps, a violent collision of urban primitivism and punk sensibilities, the trio declared war on every conventional way of listening, combining an intense mess of atonal guitar drones with brutal scrap metal percussion. At a time in Germany in which the wall encircling West Berlin transformed the city into a state-subsidized, near-paradisiacal freak-enclave for artists, Einstürzende Neubauten offered cathartic cascades of noise, employing steel parts, tin drums, drills, hammers, saws and untuned electric guitars, all crowned by Bargeld's bloodcurdling screams and feverish, apocalyptic texts. Kollaps, with its atonal essence, embodied exactly what the title suggested: decay and destruction, illness, doom and death. Years later, with the fall of the Berlin wall behind it, Kollaps still sounds as radical and extreme an artistic statement as ever.

VIGROUX, FRANCK Sonnailles 2LP
French composer and sound artist Franck Vigroux returns to raster with a new album called Sonnailles. Conceived as a sequence-driven work, Sonnailles unfolds through a series of tightly structured musical passages interspersed with fragments of voices that appear within the compositions like ghostly presences. These vocal shards drift through the sonic landscape, punctuating Vigroux's dense electronic textures and amplifying the album's sense of tension and movement. At the heart of the project lies a deliberate contrast: the collision of raw, almost primitive sonic force with an underlying sense of compositional sophistication. Vigroux crafted the music with an ear for immediacy and physical impact, exploring how rough textures and driving rhythms can coexist with intricate sound design. The album was also inspired by two unusual invitations that pushed the artist beyond his typical performance environments: a rock and punk festival in France and a series of techno club performances in China. These contexts led Vigroux to imagine music whose primary purpose was to move bodies on the dance floor -- an approach that marks a new direction in his work. For Vigroux, the challenge was particularly compelling. Alongside his musical practice, he frequently collaborates with dancers and stages multidisciplinary performances known for their radical physicality. With this new album, he brings those parallel worlds together, completing a circle in his ongoing exploration of the relationship between sound and the moving body -- where composition, rhythm, and physical motion converge.

ELECTRIC EELS Spin Age Blasters (Clear Vinyl With Black Swirls) 2LP
2026 restock; LP version. Clear vinyl with black swirls. "The Electric Eels were the first punk band, full stop. They may not have 'started' the genre, but they were the first to tick all the boxes. The eels rejected every 1970s rock convention -- professionalism, virtuosity, subject matter, image. Dave E.'s caustic vocals, complete with an aggressive lisp and a head full of snot, would become de rigeur a few years after the group disbanded. Meanwhile, the songs' focus on car crashes, suicide, neuroses, and generally hating people were as far out of the mainstream as possible. The two eels tracks that do approach the subject of romance couch it in terms of not really caring that much about it ('Jaguar Ride') or placing it in the context of a grisly murder ('Silver Daggers'). Also consider John Morton's signature guitar sound, a nails-on-chalkboard tone with brutally free soloing inspired more by Albert Ayler than the blues or aspirations to technical facility. Ditto Dave E.'s clarinet playing and affection for lawnmowers and vacuums during live performance. They were notoriously violent not only among themselves, but towards audiences, police, and anyone unfortunate enough to be around them when things went south. Then of course there are the leather jackets, the clothing festooned with rat traps or safety pins. And no bass player, why bother. There is simply no other 'proto' band to have had all these pieces in place circa 1973-1975. Yet it is a mistake to consider the eels exclusively in such a context. Yes, the eels could and did shock anyone who encountered them, but they also had great songs. While both Dave and John were visionary writers, they also had rhythm guitarist Brian McMahon, a melody and riff machine who wrote many of the band's signature songs. And they were no one-trick pony. Although much of the band's material is appropriately high-energy, there is also the downer eels -- morbid, harmonically risky, and in full existential crisis. Although it's not a focus of this compilation, the eels also had a penchant for completely free improvisation. Over the last forty plus years, there have been several Electric Eels compilations. Spin Age Blasters is quite simply the best one ever assembled, every single key track is here in its best version, properly mastered by John Golden, and sequenced with an eye towards both flow between tracks as well as individuation between sides. A true monster of an album."

COIL The Unreleased Themes for Hellraiser (Expanded Ritual) Cassette
"Back in 1987, Clive Barker's supernatural body-horror classic Hellraiser hit cinemas worldwide and introduced audiences to the demonic Cenobites. Barker was a devoted Coil fan (Peter Christopherson and John Balance), and he famously said they were the only band he'd ever heard on record whose music he'd had to take off because, in his words, 'they made his bowels churn.' He initially invited them to compose the film's music, and the group began recording cues. But the producers at New World Pictures ultimately rejected the material in favor of a more traditional approach, bringing in Christopher Young, whose final score remains excellent, if less experimental. What remains from Coil is an unfinished soundtrack with surviving fragments and rough ideas, abruptly left behind mid-process, a glimpse into an alternate Hellraiser movie, one listeners can only fantasize into existence. Nearly 40 years after the first Soleilmoon cassette edition was released, key long-term collaborator and Coil's 'secret third member' Danny Hyde located the original Hellraiser studio session tapes, and the bonus material recovered from them is presented here as an 'expanded ritual' edition, reassembled into a standalone, possibly definitive and strangely beautiful nightmare suite. Play it in the dark and experience the consequences of raising hell. Notes by Danny Hyde. Original artwork by Trevor Brown."

AYERS/PBK/KIRK WILSON/ALLAN ZANE, NIGEL Cartology of Shadows CD
"In 2023, Nigel Ayers, PBK, and Allan Zane collaborated on the striking CD This Home Stands on Ancient Bones, a work described as a 'requiem for humanity' -- meditative, emotionally charged, and deeply introspective. Cartology of Shadows now emerges as the next chapter in this evolving project. For this phase, the collective widens its perceptual field with the addition of a fourth voice: Kirk Wilson, a long-time friend and collaborator of Allan Zane. Experienced from a vantage point deep within the void, Cartology of Shadows unfolds as a fractal descent into the most distorted and bleak regions of human experience. Anchored by the spoken-word prose of Nigel Ayers, the release is steeped in existential dread and inward-turned scrutiny, drawing the listener into an intense metaphysical passage through Jungian archetypes, surreal imagery, and beyond. Nigel Ayers, to many, needs no introduction. Ayers is the founding member of The Pump and Nocturnal Emissions. Emerging from the U.S. cassette underground of the 1980s, Phillip B. Klingler, aka PBK, has forged a singular body of work across multiple formats, releasing many albums internationally, and defining a strain of sound rooted in electroacoustic practice, industrial music, and free improvisation. His instinctive turntable/synthesizer-driven compositions conjure dense but atmospheric sound worlds of unknown origin, which PBK has referred to as 'noise-ambient audio.' Kirk Wilson is an artist in his own right. In addition to being a formally trained art student and photographer, Wilson's work also extends into sound design and music. Allan Zane is best known for his 'Dark Ambient' work as WYRM. In recent years, Zane has primarily focused his attention to his long-standing project, Le Scrambled Debutante. Accurately referred to by Richard Rupenus as an 'absurdity blender,' Le Scrambled Debutante bends audio data (as well as listener's minds) into compositions of haute-buffoonery paralleled by none. In much the same way as This Home Stands On Ancient Bones was originally conceived, PBK was the impetus for Cartology Of Shadows as well. Seeking to return to the organic, intuitive camaraderie that defined the earlier collaboration, PBK approached Allan Zane with the idea of extending the previous work. Always eager to engage in new creative exchanges, Zane in turn invited the other contributors to participate in the project. With all parties aligned, Cartology of Shadows quickly took on a life of its own. Limited edition of 100 copies."

KALSOUM, OM Enta Omri LP
2026 repress. "Enta Omri" is Om Kalsoum's most famous song, composed by Mohamed Abdel Wahab, who is still rightly regarded as a prominent musician and composer in Egypt. The creation of this song was the first long expected collaboration of two musical giants, which came at the repeated urging of Egyptian President Gamal Abdul Nasser. There was talk in Egypt on the streets and in the media about what was believed to be a cold relationship between the two legends. Finally, after years of estrangement, Mohamed Abdel Wahab took the initiative and offered Om Kalsoum a song by poet Ahmed Shafiq Kamel, for which he had just composed a musical score. To his surprise, she responded positively and started to like the theme upon hearing it a few times. After a month of rehearsals, "Enta Omri" was released in February 1964 to critical acclaim and packed performances. The event was so grand it was labeled "The Cloud Meeting." With "Enta Omri," Abdel Wahab opened up the traditional repertoire of the diva to a more innovative style, which the composer was known for. The use of the electric guitar and a long instrumental intro, fusing oriental themes with Western musical elements, made the song particularly special, securing its place in Egyptian musical history. Despite some criticism from other Egyptian composers from that era, the song was soon recognized as a milestone and opened a path to modernize Arabic music for many other musicians and singers. "Enta Omri" is loved by Arab and non-Arab audiences alike. Paying respect to the great diva, dozens of artists around the world have reinterpreted the song, adopting the intro's catchy guitar melody in their compositions.

KALSOUM, OM Laylat Hob LP
2026 repress. The rich and lengthy instrumental intro is just a precursor of the emotion present in this song. The talent of the composer is underlined by how he utilizes the traditional style of singing poetry in a more open and creative way. Abdel Wahab's infusing of long and groovy interludes with varied tonality, rhythmical patterns and an overall unique approach, carries Om Kalsoum's powerful voice and brings the song to an incredible climax. In this way, he gives more color and depth to the music and the skilled soloists in the orchestra are finally able to breathe. Sensual rhythms, breaks and dazzling solos of accordeon (Faruk Salamah), guitar (Omar Khorshid), violin (Ahmed Al Hefnawy) and organ (Hany Mehanna), have ensured this song is an all-time classic for belly dance routines. Souma Records thought it was time to re-release this monument on a high-quality vinyl format.

GARCIA, CHARLY Yendo De La Cama Al Living LP
Orange color vinyl. Yendo de la cama al living (1982) is Charly García's solo debut album following the breakup of Serú Girán, and it represents a turning point both in his career and in Argentine rock. Recorded during a period of transition -- marked by the end of the military dictatorship -- the album captures a mood of change, introspection, and artistic openness. Musically, the album is built on a foundation of sophisticated rock and pop, featuring a strong presence of synthesizers, clean guitars, and carefully crafted arrangements that reflect the influence of new wave and the international sound of the era. Charly's piano remains central, now integrated into a more modern and minimalist production style. The songs explore personal and social themes through a blend of sensitivity and criticism. "Inconsciente colectivo" became an anthem of hope during a time of transformation, while the title track, "Yendo de la cama al living," conveys a sense of routine, confinement, and the search for meaning. Meanwhile, "No bombardeen Buenos Aires" reflects the political and emotional tension of those years with an intense and urgent energy. The album also stands out for its intimate character: it is a work in which Charly seems to reconsider his place both as an artist and as an individual. This combination of vulnerability, clarity, and sonic experimentation makes Yendo de la cama al living a landmark album that not only marked the beginning of a new phase in his career, but also resonates with the spirit of a society in the midst of reconstruction.

GARCIA, CHARLY Piano Bar LP
Limited edition solid white vinyl. Piano Bar (1984) is one of Charly García's most iconic albums and a key work in Argentine rock. Released during Argentina's transition to democracy, the album captures an intense blend of creative freedom, social tension, and a sound that felt modern for its time. The record is defined by a rawer, more direct sound compared to García's earlier work, with a strong presence of synthesizers, electric guitars, and, of course, Charly's piano, which serves as both the emotional and compositional core. The songs combine irony, social issues, and a clear-eyed view of reality, all wrapped in catchy melodies and sophisticated arrangements. Tracks like "Demoliendo hoteles" reflect the chaos and rebellious spirit of the era, while "Nos siguen pegando abajo" became an anthem charged with protest and energy. Meanwhile, songs such as "Promesas sobre el bidet" reveal a more introspective and poetic side, highlighting García's artistic versatility. Piano Bar not only cemented Charly as one of the leading figures in Spanish-language rock but also marked a turning point in Latin American music production, influencing generations of artists. It's an album that balances the visceral with the refined, the political with the personal, and remains relevant thanks to its expressive power and its ability to capture a moment in time without losing its universal appeal.

"With their second LP Veld, Sick Gazelle take their cosmic and instantaneous group communications to new levels of clarity and structure, without losing the spark of the jam. The band expands from longtime Chicago underground players Eric Block on guitar (Veloce) and vocalist/saxophonist Bruce Lamont (Yakuza) with drummer Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth) to include Douglas McCombs (Tortoise) on bass. Though these five tracks are sculpted from improvisations, they've been refined into song forms that illuminate the strengths of both the individual players and the chemistry of the quartet version of the combo. This comes through in Veld's moments of reflective subtlety on tracks like 'I'll Come Running,' in the foreboding tension of the cinematic 'Ocean Always Wins,' as well as in the charged grooves and dubby undercurrents of the sideways rocker 'Hippies.'"

AYERS UBIQUITY, ROY Vibrations LP
Step into the golden era of soul-jazz with the long-awaited vinyl reissue of Vibrations by Roy Ayers Ubiquity -- a record that captures the unmistakable warmth, groove, and sophistication that defined Roy Ayers' sound at its peak. Originally released in 1976, Vibrations stands as a cornerstone in Ayers' catalog, marking a moment where his signature blend of jazz, funk, and soul reached a refined, deeply cohesive form. Building on the foundations laid in earlier works, this album presents a tighter, more focused musical vision without sacrificing the lush textures and emotional depth that made his music resonate worldwide. Roy Ayers was a pioneering vibraphonist, composer, and producer whose influence stretches far beyond jazz into R&B, neo-soul, and hip-hop. Often referred to as the "Godfather of Neo Soul," Ayers crafted a sound that feels both timeless and forward-thinking, pairing silky vocals with hypnotic grooves and rich instrumental arrangements. His work throughout the 1970s helped shape the sonic DNA of modern Black music, and Vibrations is one of its purest expressions. The album flows effortlessly between moods: from the jazz-inflected elegance of "Searching" to the irresistible funk pulse of "The Memory," the dancefloor-ready "One Sweet Love to Remember," and the laid-back, atmospheric title track "Vibrations." Each track showcases a masterful balance between musicianship and groove, brought to life by a stellar ensemble of collaborators who elevate every moment. Beyond its original impact, Vibrations has taken on a second life through hip-hop. Its grooves, breaks, and melodies have been extensively sampled by generations of producers and artists, becoming a foundational source for crate diggers and beatmakers alike. Tracks from the album have been reinterpreted and flipped by influential names such as A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla, Dr. Dre, and Common, cementing its legacy as a vital bridge between 1970s soul-jazz and contemporary hip-hop culture. After almost two decades out of print, Vampisoul present this much-needed vinyl reissue of an essential album in Roy Ayers' career. Whether you're discovering it for the first time or returning to a beloved classic, this album remains an essential piece of musical history. Pressed on 180g vinyl.

RODRIGUEZ AND HIS ORCHESTRA, WILLIE Soogie LP
Soogie (1969) was Willie Rodríguez's first album for Mary Lou Records. Mary Lou Records, at that time, was also one of the labels in the right place at the right time, just before Fania smashed almost all the competition. The album is mostly comprised of guaguancós, boleros, and improvised-space-filling descargas (jam sessions). This is remarkable, as it hardly includes boogaloo, which was still prevalent during those years, yet already on the way out. According to Bobby Marín, its musical director said, "we didn't call it salsa at the time; it had no name. It was mambo or música movida, they used to call it on the radio." The first tune, "My Dog Soogie"' which provides the title for the recording, is a playful guaracha about a dog. The following track is the wildly popular "La Puerta del Dolor." "El Chivo" (the goat) is a spicy guaracha, which changes into a son montuno-guajira. "Grande" is a guaguancó, followed by "Los Callos de Dolores," also a delightful guaguancó. Then comes the ballad "Porque yo te Amo," a monster hit of the sixties by popular Argentine singer Sandro. Next, there is "Al Compás del Güiro," a guaguancó, with the delicious chorus that goes "cómo va, cómo va, cómo va, mi güiro cómo va." "Paul's Thing" is an instrumental guaguancó, with engrossing sax solos. Finally, the smashing, extended descarga "Salsa con Willie Rodríguez." A reissue of a rare and in-demand 1969 salsa gem after decades unavailable! Includes an insert with liner notes.

PERUJAZZ En Vivo 2023 Gira Europea 2LP
Manongo Mujica (drums, percussion), Jean Pierre Magnet (tenor saxophone), Julio "Chocolate" Algendones (percussion), and Enrique Luna (electric bass) founded Perujazz in 1984. All four already had embarked on diverse musical ventures when they formed the band. Mujica had played as a jazz drummer and also with the psychedelic rock group Los Mad's and then as an experimental music percussionist. Jean Pierre had been a multi-instrumentalist in Traffic Sound and saxophonist in several jazz ensembles. "Chocolate" had been part of the Afro-Peruvian ensemble Perú Negro and was one of Chabuca Granda's percussionists of choice. His meeting with Manongo Mujica in 1981 was the beginning of series of collaborations, blending African influences and avant-garde jazz percussion. Meanwhile, in Chile, Enrique Luna had been a member of several fusion ensembles and, together with Manongo, set up the improvisation band Solos at the end of the '70s. They were part of the new musical scene in Lima, strongly influenced by the cultural climate of the 70s, by Chabuca Granda and his innovations in criollismo, as well as by neofolk and nueva canción, all under the nationalist politics of the government of General Juan Velasco Alvarado. The '80s ushered in a period of democratic transition and during the early years of the decade a new generation of fusion artists thrived. Perujazz managed to hold its ground and soon led the way in the avant-garde jazz scene. Inspired by jazz fusion from the '70s, they mixed cajón drums and Afro-Peruvian, Andean and jungle sounds with jazz, rock and funk in a powerful blend full of groove and psychedelia. During an early tour in Europe, they recorded in Italy an LP entitled Verde Machu Picchu, it was released in 1987 though it wasn't widely distributed. In those years, Perujazz would journey far and wide, becoming one of the most original Peruvian ensembles and also one of the most international in scope. Since then their line-up has gone through multiple changes and today the band members are Manongo Mujica, Jean Pierre Magnet, Andrés Prado, Pudy Ballumbrosio, and Julio Zavala. En Vivo 2023 Gira Europea portraits the essence of their 2023 European tour. Music, sweat, and elation flowed as the band gave their all, transmitting their energy with every note. Those of us who can hear hints of huayno, tondero, or festejo in their playing are moved by these echoes.

USE KNIFE Etat Coupable LP
Gatefold, LP, black vinyl. A politically charged record questioning the status quo, État Coupable merges stories of war-torn Iraq with disruptive synth sequences and heavy Arabic percussion. Belgian-Iraqi band Use Knife present their new album État Coupable. The record revolves around the raw synergy between Iraqi vocalist and percussionist Saif Al-Qaissy, who fled war-torn Iraq, and the analogue synths and instrumental bursts of Belgian musicians Kwinten Mordijck and Stef Heeren. Following their acclaimed debut album The Shedding of Skin (2022), the formation has deepened their relationship through numerous live jams, intense touring and story sharing, pushing both their skills and the boundaries of the project. For its successor, État Coupable, this growth has been enriched by various collaborations, including one with Lebanese-Canadian producer Radwan Ghazi Moumneh (Jerusalem in My Heart). The first single, "Freedom, Asshole," features live drums by Spooky-J from Nihiloxica. With lead vocalist Saif singing, "I envy you because you can close your eyes, you can choose," the track addresses those who need to be addressed in the Western world, resulting in a gut-wrenching piece of raw electronica that delves into the very definition of freedom.

HUDSON & THE SOUL SYNDICATE, KEITH Nuh Skin Up Dub LP
2026 repress. Keith Hudson's Nuh Skin Up Dub is a deep, heavyweight dub album that stands as one of the most potent statements in the genre's history. Released in 1979, this sonic masterpiece showcases Hudson's signature dark, almost mystical production style, where heavy basslines, echo-drenched drums, and ghostly fragments of vocals swirl together in a hypnotic haze. Unlike the more polished, accessible dub records of the time, Nuh Skin Up Dub is raw, unfiltered, and experimental, pushing the boundaries of rhythm and space. Tracks like "Nuh Skin Up" and "Felt We Felt the Strain" pulse with an eerie, almost menacing energy, while Hudson's masterful use of reverb and delay creates a soundscape that feels simultaneously expansive and claustrophobic. Often referred to as the "Dark Prince of Reggae," Hudson had an uncanny ability to craft music that was both deeply meditative and unsettling, and Nuh Skin Up Dub is a prime example of his genius. It's a record that rewards deep listening -- every spin reveals new layers of sonic detail, hidden textures, and dub wizardry. For fans of heavy, atmospheric dub, Nuh Skin Up Dub is an essential listen, a landmark recording that solidifies Keith Hudson's status as one of the most visionary figures in reggae history.

COMELADE, PASCAL Metaphysique Du Hit-Parade LP
"I first encountered Pascal Comelade's music thirty years ago -- and nothing has sounded quite the same since. I was immediately captivated: he is an artist like no other, whose sincere and selfless love of music is always evident, especially in his tender reworkings of other people's songs. Comelade seems to work like a watchmaker: meticulous, precise, and obsessive -- yet always drifting into something dreamlike. His music opens hidden doors, telling strange and beguiling stories filled with obscurity, kindness, and reserved humor. Back then, my fascination was instinctive. Today, with a few more words at my disposal, I look to this exceptional 70-year-old French musician and feel exactly the same pull. Métaphysique Du Hit-Parade is the first vinyl compilation devoted to Pascal Comelade's favorite cover versions. It spans a forty-year career and traces sixty years of rock and roll history along the way. 'Sheena Is a Punk Rocker' becomes a soft, soothing lullaby that may well have made the Ramones weep. Then there are his idiosyncratic tributes to Jonathan Richman ('Egyptian Reggae') and The Kinks ('Sunny Afternoon'), alongside nods to formative heroes such as The Gun Club, Captain Beefheart, and MC5. Two exclusive recordings stand out particularly: Bob Dylan's 'Girl from the North Country' and Nirvana's 'Come As You Are' -- a song that shaped my early youth. Both were recorded especially for this release." --Jan Lankisch, January 2026

TOGASHI/DON CHERRY/CHARLIE HADEN, MASAHIKO Song of Soil LP
2026 restock; LP version. Wewantsounds announce a special edition of the legendary 1979 Masahiko Togashi album Song of Soil, recorded in Paris with Don Cherry and Charlie Haden and released on Japanese label Paddle Wheel. Supervised by Parisian producer Martin Meissonnier -- then Don Cherry's right-hand man -- Song of Soil reaches heights of spirituality mixing Eastern influences with jazz and deep ambient soundscapes. The album is reissued here with its original artwork and remastered by King Records in Japan. Masahiko Togashi's cult classic, Song of Soil was recorded just a few months after the Codona album release but unlike the landmark ECM album, Song of Soil was only released in Japan at the time. Thanks to Japanese pianist Takashi Kako, who was living in Paris at the time, a session had been set up with Don Cherry and Charlie Haden thanks to Martin Meissonnier, a young journalist and radio producer, who was starting to make an impression on the Paris music scene. Paris at the time was a buzzing city and one of the most active epicenters of jazz creativity. Masahiko Togashi was, at the time, one of Japan's most celebrated jazz musicians. He was a key exponent of the Japanese free jazz movement at the turn of the '60s. Despite an accident that had left him paralyzed from waist down, Togashi became more active than ever thanks to a special drumkit that enabled him to play like before. He came to Paris to record Song of Soil with the two American musicians who were touring Europe with their Old and New Dreams quartet (they'd played a concert promoted by Meissonnier at the Palais des Glaces on the July 31st). Always on the lookout for new inspiring adventures, Cherry agreed to do the session with Togashi and the musicians headed to the Ramses studio to record the album with Haden as the bassist. Comprised of six Togashi originals, Song of Soil is a superb blend of global improvisational interaction featuring Togashi's deep abstract drumming, Don Cherry's imaginary trumpet playing, and Charlie Haden's expansive basslines. Also present during the session was Don Cherry's friend, photographer Philippe Gras who'd shot the cult legendary short film Don Cherry in 1968. Gras shot the session for the album release and artwork. For Meissonnier, it was the beginning of a meteoric rise that would see him shape the global sound of the '80s with Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, and Rai musicians. A key album in Don Cherry's discography as well as an essential Japanese jazz album, Song of Soil is a unique meeting of the minds. Includes eight-page color booklet with liner notes by Jacques Denis/Martin Meissonnier and Paul Bowler plus unissued photos by Philippe Gras.

ITABASHI, FUMIO Watarase (1982) LP
2026 restock. Wewantsounds announces the reissue of Fumio Itabashi's highly sought-after album Watarase, hailed as one of the great Japanese jazz albums and featuring Itabashi on solo piano playing an inspired mix of standards and originals. Recorded in 1981 for Denon and released in Japan the following year, the album has since reached cult status among international jazz connoisseurs, thanks to Itabashi's inventive piano playing and to its cult title track, a superb lyrical spiritual composition. Newly remastered by Nippon Columbia using their ORT mastering technology, the album reissue features original artwork including a two-page insert with a new introduction by Paul Bowler. Born in 1949 in Tochigi, Fumio Itabashi studied piano at the renowned Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo, where Joe Hisaishi also studied. After finishing his studies, he quickly began recording as a session player for Japanese heavyweights such as Sadao Watanabe (making his recording debut on Watanabe's 1972 self-titled album), Terumasa Hino, and Kohsuke Mine before recording his first album as a leader -- accompanied by his trio -- with the album Toh released by Frasco Record in 1976. In October 1981, Itabashi entered Nippon Columbia's Studio 1 to digitally record a new album using Denon's PCM digital recorder as a follow up to Nature. The album, called Watarase was cut in just two days and feature Itabashi on solo piano, playing a couple of standards ("Someday My Prince Will Come" and "I Can't Get Started") and four originals plus "Msunduza," a Dollar Brand composition from 1975. The album highlights the pianist's dazzling technique oscillating between energetic passages as on "Msunduza" and more serene ones as heard on "Someday My Prince Will Come." The high point of the album is undoubtedly its title track, "Watarase" which has become a favorite on the international jazz scene over the years. Paul Bowler, in the liner notes, draws comparisons between Itabashi's and Pharoah Sanders' playing, noting that they both "possess a similar open-hearted blend of spiritualism, passionate intensity and melodic beauty." Watarase was never widely available outside of Japan (with only a limited edition in 2018). Wewantsounds is therefore delighted to bring this classic back in circulation, newly remastered in Tokyo by Nippon Columbia for all Japanese jazz lovers to enjoy.
